Greenbelt Park:

While Greenbelt Park is considered a national park, it has a little bit of everything in it. It is located off of Greenbelt Road. It has several areas where you can have family gatherings. As well as many hiking trails. There is also a camping site near the back of the park. It also has playground equipment and a large field there for the General public.

What about The Washington DC, Baltimore and Virginia Areas. Well that part is really tricky. Temperatures are above freezing and the bulk of the storm will consolidate as it stays to our south and Then to our east. This will be probably or most likely a regular type of Snow Event For DC/Baltimore and Areas up to around Louden County VA. With 1-3″ In areas of Northern Virginia, 3-6″+ in the Washington DC area and 4-8″+ Towards Baltimore. The Farther East you are with this storm the better it is for you with the snow.

How cold? Temperatures The remainder of the week may not get back above freezing even in the big cites like Washington DC, And Baltimore. And We may have some of the coldest air we have had this season this upcoming weekend. Temperatures will moderate as we head into next week, but we are are only talking about temperatures being in the 30’s instead of the 20’s. But temperatures this weekend should be about 10-15 degrees bellow average.

We will try to have a more detailed update as we move forward. Side note there may be a light snow chance on Friday afternoon as well as again on Late Sunday into Monday.

This will be a minimal/nuisance of a storm system moving across the area. But the big thing that will be the focus is the reinforcement of some colder air to move in behind it. NOT as cold as it has been for the last 3 weeks but definitely well bellow average for this time of year. Here is our first guess bellow at what you can expect snowfall wise.

One thing that can be certain is that the grip on the cold air that has held the area will loosen just a little bit. Instead of temperatures in the Low 20’s, by time we reach mid-week we should be in the upper 30’s and Low 40’s. Briefly before the storm comes through on Tuesday night and into Wednesday. This will bring down the temperatures again. However it wont be nearly as cold as it has been with temperatures just making it above freezing by the end of the week.

Now back to the Tuesday/Wednesday Storm. The GFS is by far the coldest and second most aggressive with this upcoming weeks storm. It paints a swath of 1-3 inches of snow over, DC, Northern Virginia, Central Maryland and all the way up to Baltimore. As mentioned though this model has very little support to go along with it. But it bears watching and we will keep you updated moving forward with this storm.

All three parks have playground areas. And abundant parking for families and friends. Lets go over them one at a time shall we.

Riverdale Community Park: 5400 Haig Dr, Riverdale, MD 20737

By far Riverdale Community Park was one of my favorite Growing up. It is complete with several baseball fields, A Community room that can be rented out, a Basketball court, a tennis court and a large recently updated playground. Something else that has been recently added is the Ninja or Par-Core station. Its great for a good workout. There is also plenty of beautiful spots that I believe that you all would enjoy as well. There is ample parking for this park, and is accompanied by the Paint Branch Trail.

Riverside Community Park: 5801 Riverside Drive Riverdale, MD 20737

Riverside community Park has it all. Nature aspects, and right next to Northeast Branch Trail. It has a soccer and baseball field as well as is right next to a creek/stream. This is the Northeast Anacostia Branch trail. The Park also comes equipped with a playground and a gathering area. That can be rented out. The nature aspect also comes along the Northeast Branch trail portion of park. There there are places you can stand along the stream (please use cation as well as parent supervision) to sight see or just to relax and enjoy the nature around you.

Anacostia Stream River Valley Park: 5400 Tanglewood Drive Riverdale, MD 20737

While this park was not my personal favorite, one thing you cant deny is there is extensive space for you to be able to use. And while there is no active baseball soccer or basketball courts there is a play area for children. There is also abundant shade for those hot days to keep friends and family cool in the normal hot and humid weather of the Summer. This is a quiet park and it has a normal balance of nature, Its a great place to be if you just want to take some time and relax and enjoy some fresh air.

Overall Riverdale Park has an abundance of spaces for you to be able to go to enjoy the outdoors, and get away from the regular routine of life. While it may not remove you entirely from the city, this is a great place to go if you just want a little nature in life. Hope you all enjoy our video analysis bellow. This park is also native to animals like the Great Blue herring. Its a great spot to fish as well as bring your kids as this place does have a playground. This is a wonderful neighborhood park which has many things in it to give you just a taste of nature in a more densely populated area.

There Are an abundance of trails as well as places for children and parents to enjoy family time together. One thing this park lacks however is a playground area. However there is plenty of nature that everyone will be able to enjoy.
