After an unsatisfactory Elance commission and a breakdown in communication with the designers of the original website I was tasked with re-vamping the site, improving usability and delivering a product / membership focused web design to improve conversion and brand awareness.

Delivery

Re-designed the whole website with emphasis on the JK Secret branding and product / membership focused elements. Improved the user experience through consistent navigation and added visual internal links. Integrated a branded Magento based ecommerce solution and a branded integrated blog / news system with wordpress.

The Brief

Due to company expansion I had recently created a site to cater for salcura’s US market, since creating the site the salcura team quickly realised the power and ease of use of the new site/system. Their current UK website was looking a bit outdated and the inflexibility of the custom built content management system was causing issues for the team. It was then decided that the website I had built for the US market was to be the new focal point of the business with a few tweaks to the original design.

Delivery

Re-designed the front page with emphasis on specific complaints with emphasis on the promotion of sample products, removed the slider banner header and replaced it with a large fading slideshow.

Created & Integrated a Wufoo based form system to enhance the sample request functionality.

Created & Integrated a host of new features to further slicken the administration process.

Donelle who has been selling body jewellery through the store for a while now, wanted a quick and easy solution for getting her products on to the internet, but wanted to maintain a professional (yet grungy) appearance.

The Brief

Donelle contacted me asking for a quick and easy way to expand the body jewellery business online with minimum cost and immediate sales benefits.

Delivery

Using ebay stores, I set up Voodoo’s account, branded the new online business in a style reflective of the clientele. Created a custom listing template for use with all of the listings, featuring shop category quicklinks and cross selling widget to increase store throughput and sales.

I often advise potential clients to visit showcase sites to get layout, color scheme and feature ideas for their new webdesign.

The Brief

The MD of Salcura contacted me regarding the expansion of the current business into the US market.  He had seen and liked the newly created Sensi Skincare web site and requested a web design very similar, with a different navigation structure and Salcura branding.

Delivery

Using magento commerce as the base system for the ecommerce project I designed, created and integrated a custom theme based on the Salcura branding, which included the large scrolling area for product promotions etc.

The ‘my account’, ‘my wishlist’ and ‘newsletter signup’ functionality is used alongside discount offers to encourage repeat business.

The client had requested a more ‘in depth’ product detail area, because of the large amount of product detail I integrated a jQuery accordion which only displays the details of interest on selection.

Again the ‘out of the box’ web site design solution enabled Salcura Skincare to be up and running in a very short space of time and stay within a very strict budget.

The guys have an enviable, award winning web design portfolio, are well respected within the design community and if truth be known I really fancied bagging a job with them.

After firing off my contact details/resume, I was pleasantly surprised when fellow pom and managing director – Ross Gerring contacted me and asked me down for a chat.

A brief visit to the office, then it was off to a local coffee house for a chat about the world, web site design, magento, drupal, oh and me.  The upshot being that I may well be of use to the Itomic team in a freelance web designer capacity.

So a big thank you to Ross for taking the time out, the free coffee and the possibility of working with a great team.

The Brief

The client requested a professional, contemporary looking web site design with the ability to easily update key sections including the portfolio and testimonials. The main aim of the site was to encourage potential clients to view previous work and ultimately make further contact via either telephone or email.

Delivery

As the client had requested a CMS system enabling them to update the site themselves, I decided to use wordpress as the base system. I designed and created a custom wordpress theme, the emphasis being on the three key areas testimonials, portfolio and contact.  I utilised  javascript / jQuery to display the scrolling testimonials, the tabbed content interfaces, aswell as the fading image slideshows featured on all main pages, making it possible to integrate the content within the single page design.
