How To Link PayPal to Malaysia Bank Account?

I've got a good news for Malaysia's Internet Marketer. Now we are able to transfer our hard earned money straight to our local bank in Malaysia.

Before I proceed any further, someone might asked, "what's the heck is PayPal?"

In short, PayPal is an online secure payment center, the world's most popular 'middleman' for online purchasing. Let say you purchase a product from a certain website whereby you may be given an option to pay either using their so-called secure web page or you can use Paypal (if you have an account there). Once there, Paypal will only give the merchant your name, address, and the amount of payment without releasing other information.

Today over 99 million Internet users prefer using PayPal to send money to each other via email. It has become such a convenient and trusted way to transfer money online. In fact, 95% of eBay's purchases goes through PayPal.

Okay, back to the good news. But then, many others did not find it convenient especially for those who have multiple PayPal's account! They are still not sure how much the local banks gonna charge them for this service? ~~I'm still not sure whether PayPal gonna charge for using this service?~~ It's unfortunate if we have to pay twice - once in US and the other one here in our local bank!

Anyway, here's how to link PayPal to Malaysia Bank's account (complete with graphics)?

1. Login to your PayPal's account and click on your Profile tab. From the drop down menu, click Add/Edit Bank Account

2. Type in your bank's information correctly. Click 'Details' to get the name of your bank and MEPS bank rounting code

2.1 Below is the bank numbers for some of the major banks in Malaysia

3. Review to make sure all details are correct before you click the button, 'Add Bank Account'

4. Voila! You have successfully added a bank account in Malaysia

5. Last but not least, PayPal will also sent you an email as a confirmation that you've successfully added a bank account in Malaysia

A reply from a Blogger Employee, Having Trouble Uploading A Template?

There are so many such questions. Be free to look it up on Blogger Help Group to read all relevant questions posted by Blogger all over the world. Happy reading guys.

I soon found out that not all answers were right to any Blogger's templates. Some were successful and some were not! Not to worry though. It was not the fault of Blog*Spot users. As a forummer on Dilectio Comments Section had wisely said, it seems like Blogger has been making some changes recently that don't sit well with customized templates. Until then, chill down and wait for the Blogger Team to rectify their problem.

Here's what to do whenever you're changing and downloading a new template, the annoying bX error awaits you;

After choosing and downloading the new template, open the XML file with Notepad.

After opening it with Notepad, search for widget id.

In every Blogger's templates, widget id will be displayed like so, <b:widget id="blabla1" locked="blabla" title="blabla" type="blabla"></b:widget>

Now, this is important. You can either delete the number in Blabla1 and replace it with another number like so, Blabla1 to Blabla2 or Blabla3 to Blabla4. Preferably a higher number than the one you deleted..

Or you can just add the same number beside the old one like so, Blabla1 to Blabla11 or Blabla2 to Blabla22.

Do as the above to all widget id found on the template's XML file. And don't forget to save it after you've finished. Please save it somewhere you can easily remember because you'll be needing it later.

Then sign-in to your Blogger's account --> Dashboard --> Layout --> Edit HTML

In Edit HTML mode, browse for the file you've saved it earlier and upload the file.

Lastly, preview the end result to see that everything is alright before you click SAVE.

GooglePages and GeoCities Are Closing

Free image hosting

As a dedicated clients of both well known Googlepages aka Google Page Creator and GeoCities, I received an alert emails from both telling me that Googlepages and GeoCities are closing. For your information, Googlepages and GeoCities are free web site building services and communities.

Unlike Google Page Creator, GeoCities site will no longer appear on the Web, and I shall no longer be able to access my GeoCities account and files on October 26, 2009 whereas Google will soon be discontinuing operation of the Google Page Creator product. They (Google) will be migrating my Page Creator sites over to Google Sites. Despite the bad news, I was told my Page Creator sites will continue to operate with no work on my part.

Missing images from my blog

I considered the news as bad because I uses both services exclusively to host all my images. Yeah, I know there are a ton more free image hosting out there but the problem with those ton of free image hosting is their bandwidth limitation. Oftentimes, you can easily exceeded the amount of specified bandwidth allocated in a matter of days especially if the traffic to your blog is high. As a result, your image won't show and you'll get this annoying message, "bandwidth
exceeded" as you can see on the image below when I've exceeded the bandwidth and the images gone AWOL, lol!

Free image hosting sites

So, next time if you find any images gone missing from your blog, most probably it was due to bandwidth limitation. As for me I used to love using Ripway but then I found out that I couldn't assessed any of my images even though I've not exceeded my daily data transfer limit.

Naturally, I went in search for other free image hosting such as ImageShack® and PhotoBucket to name a few. If you're interested to know, here's a directory for free image hosting. Hope you'll find it useful.

Free image hosting with unlimited bandwidth

After searching high and low for free image hosting I've found one. And the best part it goes with unlimited bandwidth. That means I don't have to change every images URL every now and then whenever I've exceeded the allocated bandwidth.

For your information, you can actually host your images on Blogger and use the images' URL to hotlink the images on your blog. But there's a little trick you gotta know to find out the real URL to use. If you're a great fan of Firefox (like yours truly - **cough** **cough**) to find out the direct link for the image is to ~~Right Click (on the image) ---> (click on) Copy Link Location. For Internet Explorer (IE8), Right Click (on the image) ---> (click on) Copy Shortcut.~~

Updates July 25th - Sorry about that. Let's start again from the top. Upload all your images on your new post like this one. After publishing the new post, choose and click on an image. DO NOT use the address's link on the status bar coz your image will not show up if you tried to hotlink it.

To get the direct link, for Firefox - Right Click on the image and choose Copy Image Location. For IE8 user, Right Click on the image and then click on Properties. A little box will shows up. Inside the box there's the image's address (URL).

And now, after what I've said and done, I gonna upload all the images used for all my blogs. Hopefully, this gonna solve the bandwidth problem for good. Before that I gonna set some ground rules;

All image's links are for my own use only.

Please do not hotlink the images.

Adding a Menubar on Blogger's template

Updates a few hours after publishing the original post. I'm still not satisfied after I clicked on the 'Publish Post' button. My first try to create a Menubar for Lee A Verday's Book/Writing Blog didn't go quite well (see image on problem no. 3). I was using an image for the Menubar, but no image was used for my second try. Come on below at no. 4 to read how I did it. Happy reading guys...

Awhile back I received a lovely comment from Lee A Verday on BlogBeginners. It seem like he was trying to create a Menubar for his blog.

In fact, when I looked into his Page Source he has even pasted a string of codes which I used to help a fellow Blogger to create a Menubar for her blog. I'm sorry Lee, that piece of code that you paste on your template is not compatible for your blog.

From then onward, I took a special interest to help him out to improve his blog. He was using a three column Cafe Blog template which was designed by J.aghili. For those who would like to use this free Blogger's template, you can download it on Final Sense.

I've even downloaded it on one of my test blog so that I can do a little bit of tweaking on the codes to improve the image and probably adding a Menubar. Below are a few suggestions that I would like to make as per comment on Lee A Verday's Book Writing Blog when I asked for his permission to take a further look in his blog.

On the right sidebar, at the very top below 'The Hollow Rated H' ads you can see plainly the word "/center>" as shown on the image below;

Solution:
If you look on your template, I'm sure you've forgotten to type in the character < for the tag 'center'.

This maybe nothing, but for those who have keen eyes they will notice there's a black spot under the Header's banner as you can see on the image below;

Solution:
In 'Edit HTML' mode try finding this string of codes;

Change the red-coded tag accordingly to your Banner URL, width and height. I see that your banner width is 919px. It's advisable to crop your banner to the original image width of 903px. You can leave the rest of the codes as it is.

Back to the drawing board. Got some adjustments to make.

As usual before you do any high-powered tweaking on your template (sound like military, huh?), I implore you to backup your template. You wouldn't wanna know how many times it has saved my arse just for doing that simple backup. As I always said, I shall not be held responsible if following my tutorial resulted a hissing or unwanted sound coming from your favourite lappy or desktop. Do so at your own risk, **wink**

Solution:
Okay, let's get on with this short tutorial. This will be the first part for your style found in CSS. In 'Edit HTML' mode, find the tag ]]></b:skin>

After finding the tag, please copy and paste the following codes before ]]></b:skin>

Got that? Good! Now we have come to the second part. Like my earlier tutorial on Menubar on a Blogger's template, find the following codes;

A lesson worth learning

Well, I thought I was doing the right thing, but I ended up learning a priceless lesson. You know how the saying goes; "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Guess I've made a mistake. I didn't listened to the wise old man's words of wisdom.

This blog here was formerly known as Web Directory, a sub-dormain with Blogger. Then I changed it to BlogBeginners.com after I bought a brand new domain name at GoDaddy, something that I should have done when I started blogging many moons ago. With a new domain name, I've to start all over again when it Page Rank fall back to zero! It's okay, after all these while I've learned a thing or two about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and I'm sure I can bring this blog back to it former PR4.

Anyway, that's not what this post is all about. Back to BlogCatalog, I thought I wanna make it easier for my readers and especially to my followers that Web Directory has changed to BlogBeginners.com.

After filling up the new information (as you can see on the image below), I submitted the form expecting to receive an answer after 48 hours.

Comment Form Placement

Horey! This is my first post for eBlog Templates. Hehehe! I can see that you're scratching your head now. Oh well, please refer to my last post, Making Border Lines Disappear to know what I'm talking about. Read about it on the first paragraph, "on a happier note".

On Dilectio Blogger template's post iclfan was asking about inline comment not working on his Blog*Spot.

Before I proceed any further, here is a little tip which I'm sure you will find useful. That's will be the case if you take it in a positive ways. Whenever you wanna ask a question in any forums or leaving a comment or two on any site, please stay calms and give as many infos as you can about your problems.

Believe me, it works both ways. Your questions will be answered promptly and to the point, the way you wants it to be answered. And those many Bloggers who gonna answer your questions will not be wasting their times trying to figure out what do you mean actually? In a bad case scenario, your questions might not be getting any answers! Leaving you high and dry wondering why you're not getting any responds?

You know, I've been there done that too. I can still remember many many moons ago when I noticed the upper half of my post suddenly turned into reds! As if I'm using red fonts. Guess I was panic-stricken. All of a sudden I started opening new threads on all the forums that I registered asking the same question without any relevant information. And now I'm giving back the same words of wisdom that I've received many many moons ago.

Ok now back to the main topic. In the middle of last year, Blog*Spot in their infinite wisdom has decided to give her users inline comments! It's exactly (not 100%) like the comments used on WordPress where at the end of every post there will be a comment form. Yay, something every Blog*Spot users have been waiting for!

So, how do you make it to work?

It's very easy to do if you're using Blogger default templates. All you've to do is to go to the Blogger in Draft. After signing in with your username and password, you will be taken to your Dashboard. From there you go to Settings --> Comments --> Comment Form Placement. Then check on Embedded below post button. Voila! Now you're the owner of an Inline Comment, ;-)

For others who are using customized templates (like the one iclfan is using now, a Dilectio blogger template), first you do like I did - see above. After saving it, go to your blog and see whether the inline comment is in place or not?

If not, this is what I do on my own template. Before you touch anything, please backup your template. If anything goes wrong or suddenly your XML codes decided to jump or dance around, you have a backup template to turn to.

Alright, this is what you have to do. From your Dashboard (assuming you've already login to your Blogger's account), go to Layout --> Edit HTML --> Expand Widget Templates. Then you search for this string of codes,

After you've found it, please change the whole string of codes with the one below;

But please remember, your template may be tweaked differently. Basically, that was the line of code I have to add to make the inline comment form to appear on my blogs.

Last night I received a personal message (PM) on my usual haunt at CARI Forum. It was from Ardamia (her nickname used on CARI Forum) asking me how to make the border's lines on her blog disappeared? At first I thought of answering her inquiry at a later date coz I got my hands full with my own on-going projects as an Internet Marketer. Yeah, yeah I know, but a Blogger gotta eat too, right? Anyway, that's for another post. Just remind me and I shall tell you about making money online one of these days.

So, as the story goes I went to her blog to have a look-see what it is all about? I noticed that she's using a Douglas Bowman's Rounder4 Template, one of the many Blog*Spot default templates. Within seconds I already got the answer for her, but it got me wondering. On the message she did mentioned before coming to me, she did asked around but nobody can help her...

I see that you're curious too. You wanna know the answer? Wait! Before I proceed any further let's do a little bit of history first. Yeah, I know. It's one of my favourite subjects too. OK, ok, I shall make it short but first, did you know who is Douglas Bowman?

Douglas Bowman is also the creator behind the many default Blogger's templates that many of you are using today. I guess he is still working with the giant search engine, Google as you can read on his StopDesign May 27th, 2006 log entry.

Right, back to the main subject. Like I said earlier, to solve her problem all I gotta do was to find all the image URL that made up the border lines. After going through her template, I found ten image URL for her to delete. The ten images that I suggested for her to delete were as follow,

Before I take my leave, here's a tip for you fellow Bloggers. Not all lines including borders are created by HTML. I guess that's why they cannot solve Ardamia's problem because they were looking for HTML codes! I hope you will take it in a positive way. I'm not trying to belittle anybody here or to brag. It's a very common mistake made even by a very season Blogger. Hopefully with this tip it will make your job easier when helping others with the same problem.

As it is, a case in common was on my last post, Menubar on Blogger Template. The menubar I used on Baby Nurin's Sebuah Kehidupan was an image! Same thing, you won't find any HTML for the menubar on her template because of the said reason.

Last but not least, if you're a FireFox user, please download Web Developer 1.1.6 a FireFox add-ons. It has helped me a lot in solving template problems including my own. If you're wondering how I can get the answer so fast, that's my secret weapon!

Menubar On Blogger Template

Not so long ago, I received an email from a new found friend on CARI Forum. On CARI she's affectionately known as "Baby Nurin". She had a little problem with her menubar and requested to create a new menubar for her blog at Sebuah Kehidupan.

I guess she's a BlogMaster to several blogs, but on this particular blog Sebuah Kehidupan. she tells her readers about her daily perfect and beautiful life. A typical ups and downs of a married Malay lady's life in Johore. There was a short post in particular that struck me deep into my heart. She was telling about the current economic crisis and how it affected her life when her Hubby got fired!

Enough of that. Back to the main subject. Before I proceed any further, let me explain what is a menubar? Menubar or navigation (bar, button - take your pick) usually located below the header on most blogs. It is where you listed certain links for easier navigation purposes. As you can see on this blog I've listed only four items (links) on the right side of the menubar. They're;

'Home' - default URL for this blog,

'Flag-ship' - my main blog, My Journey To Recovery

'Profile' - default profile on Blogger and

'eMail Me' - as the words imply, click on the link if you wanna get in touch with me.

Well, for Baby Nurin before asking for my help, she had tried her best to create a menubar on her own, but the end-result was not up to her expectation as you can see on the image shown below;

When I had a looked on her blog's template, I noticed that her string of codes had not enough command to create a perfect beautiful menubar. So with her permission, I decided to do a little bit of experiments on her blog's template. After tweaking here and there I finally was able to create a menubar that passed her spec(ification).Positive comments can also provide valuable feedback and what is sometimes more important, encouragement to let you know that your efforts are appreciated and worthwhile.

For those who are reading this tutorial, please bear in mind that not all Blogger's templates are compatible to the string of codes that I'm about to show you in a minute. Certain alterations has to be made for it to work correctly. One more thing, I shall not be held responsible for whatever reasons if the codes used causes explosions on your lappy or desktop. Text-Wrap Problem

A forummer at CARI, was having a problem with his Dilectio Template. It has got to do with some text-wrap script making all images on his blog uncontrollable, making words to wrap around the images as you can see on the image below.

He doesn't want that looked. He wanted the images to look like this - see image below;

I guess he was busy with his day-time job and has no time to look at the template to fix the problem. So he posted it on CARI Forum giving others the chance to prove their understanding of HTML, XHTML's script.

I took the challenge hoping I can solve his problem. I've never used Dilectio template's before. So I downloaded Dilectio template and uploaded it on my test blog. All through the night I've been working on it, tweaking the script here and there. At last, at two AM, "Eureka, I found it!"

This is what I do. Login to your Blogger account and you will be taken to your Dashboard --->Layout --->Edit HTML and searched for this line of code (see below) and deleted the red coloured line of scripts.

A word of caution, before you do anything please backup your template. I couldn't emphasis the importance of that small gesture.

Busy, Busy, and Very Busy

It has been quite some times since my last post. I know many of my faithful readers has been wondering where the hell have I been? I was around, alive and kicking!

Nowadays, what I like doing best is going/browsing/surfing through every forums I could find. Reading their threads, posts and whenever possible I would dispensed the limited knowledge that I have.

One of the favourite forum that I attended was our own local one, CARI Forum. For my oversea readers, 'CARI' is the Malay word for 'SEARCH'. Aptly named for a forum. A place to search for useful information, just like this blog where many useful information are gathered.

The One I Created Long Long Time Ago

Lately I was actively involved with a fellow forummer (is there such a word?) called reone. This fella (still don't know his/her gender) wanted to create a blog under Blog*Spot platform. He/she has a very interesting niche. His/her niche is about 'Crystal' making. If you're into crystal and wanted to buy crystal in bulk, you can visit his/her blog (still in the early stage of construction) at ReeWanCrystal. I was told one of the ways (SEOwise) to promote your blog or website is through forum. Yeah, I admit that's true. During my early blogging days (still going strong after two years plus), I was actively involved with forum. Locally and abroad. But not now. After blogging for quite some times, I feel now is the time I repay back all the kindness that I received during the early days, helping my friends (on forum mostly) solving their problems.

It has never been my top priority to promote my blogs at forum. I guess it has dropped to second or maybe to third place. Nowadays, my main intention is to share the little bit of knowledge about blogging especially about Blog*Spot. My dearest wife always said, "The more you give, the more you get."

And I truly believed her. Ever since I adopted that policy, my fortune changes dramatically. My income with AdSense and other 'Making Money Online' applications increases. I'm grateful and thanks Allah swt for the blessing He bestowed on me. Alhamdulillah.

But there is one thing in particular that displeases me greatly. During my experiences with forums one thing that I hate was when someone opened up a new thread asking for some help and after a few posts later, he/she wrote, "You all think you're clever, huh? I've already solved it" or in some other words to that effect! I've thought of giving him/her a piece of my mind, but then I think he/she's not worth it. I don't know about others, but that's the last I gonna post on his/her thread.

Well, what do you learned today? I sincerely believe that there are still many good people out there who are really helping other bloggers. And I also believed that there are a few who would do everything in his/her power to drop you down. I happened to know someone who would make your account with PayPal or ClickBank (among others) terminated because of sheer jealousy!

Drop Down Label

How To Create Drop-Down Label?

There was a comment from a fellow blogger on my Flag-Ship. Technoraz was asking how do I changed the label to drop-down menu's style.

I realized the label on both of my blogs were getting longer, and I needed to shorten it. Or else one side of the side-bar will be occupied by labels only. Furthermore I've purposely created only one post per page and I'm afraid the side-bar contents will be longer than the post.

As you well know, labels on Blog*Spot are the same as categories. But, Blog*Spot only supports label as a list of links. Not like Archives which support other options beside a list of links like Drop-down Menu and the Hierarchy type which can be expanded or collapsed.

I assumed that you have already added a page element for labels in your sidebar.

Below, I shall show you how it was done, the drop-down menu for label;

Select the blog you wanted to change in the list and click layout.

Click Edit HTML in the submenu at the top

Before you change anything, look for a link at the top that says Download Full Template. Click it and save the .xml file in a folder where you can remember. This step is very important. We might need to upload it again if anything goes wrong. This .xml file is some sort like a back-up.

Find the following section of code in the template.

Password Scams

I'm sorry. I think I've made a very BIG mistake .Due to my ignorance I've help to spread another password scams. And this time it's from fanbox.com, which is a new incarnation of sms.ac. Read more about it written by The SpamHuntress here, sms.ac abuse.

Let me start from the top. Last night I received an email from fanbox.com, supposedly sent by a friend of mine, Ariffshah. It was a simple email, telling me that Ariffshah has asked me a question! Well, it got me curious (just hope I shall not end up like the cat, eh) and clicked on the link to view the question.

It looked like another social network site like LinkedIn, Plaxo, Facebook, MySpace, and so on. That's why I didn't give much thought about it. Like an idiot I just followed what it told me to do, including giving out my Yahoo's username and password!

When I woke up this morning, I got a big surprise after opening up my PC. Usually the first thing that I do after opening up my PC was to see my blogs. I was surprise that I got a new post, 'Welcome to FanBox' on My Journey To Recovery. As far as I'm concerned the last post that I did was for ReviewMe. When did I created this post?

I got quite mad when I realized fanbox.com was responsible for all these. When did I gave out my mail-to-blogger address? This password is suppose to be secret and I used it to post text and images (up to 10MB in size) directly to my blogs.

This is too much. Immediately I canceled my membership with FanBox.com, changed my mail-to-blogger address and changed my Yahoo's username and password. I don't want to get involve with FanBox.com anymore!

I couldn't blame Ariffshah either. Just like me, maybe he thought fanbox.com was another social networking site. I guess by now, fanbox.com has sent emails to those listed on my contact list. My Favicon

How To Create Your Favicon

Recently I noticed that my favicon on the address box and browser tab (in FireFox) is missing. It was replaced by an empty blank square. Neither were the Blogger's Favicon visible

Here's the part I'm going to tell you a little bit of 'History Lesson'. Nah! You're wrong! It's not a fairy tale, but it began just like one. Okay, here goes:

One upon a time not too long ago when I started my hands on blogging, I've read somewhere about the importance of a favicon. So, I created my own favicon using one of the many favicon creators, My Favatar, which I think exist no more. Thus this post. A ha, by now I'm sure your next question will be, What Is A "Favicon" - And What Use Is It? So please, allow me to explain;

A "favicon" (pronounced “fav-eye-con”) short for "favourites icon" is a tiny image which is displayed in various parts of a web browser. It replaces the default image which a browser displays in the address bar, in the favourites list, on the link bar and so on. In my case as you can see above on your browser tab, it look like this: Yeah yeah, I know. He's cute, lol!

The use of a "favicon" means that you can change this image to anything you want - and this means that your site should stand out from the others in different parts of the browser:

You should know, however, that this can be a bit hit-and-miss and sometimes, even though you have set everything up correctly the favicon may not be displayed especially on Internet Explorer due to some unexplainable bug.

Creating A Favicon

A favicon is an image file of the type ".ico", and it always has the file name "favicon.ico". It is a special type of graphic and not many graphics programs can create .ico files. "The Gimp" is an exception, and you can download this free (but rather quirky) graphics package from The Gimp.

Personally I used my favourite Photo Editor, ACDSee. Even though ACDSee cannot create .ico files, but it still can save the image on My Picture's folder.

As already stated, there are many online favicon creator services on the WWW. You can googled it to find out the many favicon creator services. But as it is, I preferred to create my own .ico image after the collapsed of My Favatar.

To create a favicon image, I used this image. It doesn't matter what size it is, as long as it's square. Once I opened it on my favourite Photo Editor I resized it to 16 x 16 pixels.

You can use most graphics formats. I used a GIF (.gif) for this favicon.

After resizing the image above (you know, the handsomest one!) to 16 x 16 pixel, I saved it in My Picture's folder. Then I went to Ripway, my favourite web hosting and file sharing service. For me, this is the best service to host your images. For a free account you will be allocated 30MB of storage space, and 150 MB of daily downloads. Head over there now and open up a free account. Just tell them, ArahMan7 sent you and I'm sure they gonna treat you well, ;-)

After uploading your favicon's image with Ripway, copy the direct link URL for the favicon's image to your clipboard. Mine will be like this: http://h1.ripway.com/ArahMan7/ArahMan7.ico

Below is the code for your favicon. For Blog*Spot user, after login --> Dashboard --> Page Elements --> Edit HTML. Paste the code into your template between your <head> </head> tag. Preferably at the top.

If your favicon doesn’t show up after the above steps, try the following:

Check that your favicon has been uploaded to your correct blog.
Check that your favicon exists by typing in the path of the favicon in your browser like http://h1.ripway.com/ArahMan7/ArahMan7.ico
Check the link tag on the homepage refers to the correct path.

If your favicon still doesn’t show up after the above troubleshooting steps, it may be because your web browser is using some internal caching and the favicon has not been refreshed. To check if your favicon is really there:

Wait a day or so then check your web site again, your web browser should have refreshed its cache by then.
Try viewing your web site using another browser.
Use Internet Explorer and bookmark your web site, the favicon should appear on the next reload of your web site in Internet Explorer.

Welcoming visitors to your website or blog with welcome pop-up message can help leave a friendly impression. Just be careful not to overdo it though. Welcoming them to each page of your website could become very annoying.

Before I answer Isskandar's question, let me tell you a little bit about javascript, THE scripting language of the Web that will be used to create a welcome pop-up message. According to W3 Schools, "JavaScript is used in millions of Web pages to improve the design, validate forms, detect browsers, create cookies, and much more. JavaScript is the most popular scripting language on the internet, and works in all major browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, and Opera."

How to make a javascript welcome pop up message box:

Consideration: Nowadays browers are incorporating a popup block which could make the use of web page popups a thing of the past. Your information in popups could now go totally unnoticed.

I'm gonna show you a very simple javascripts use to welcome visitors to your homepage? Here's how you gonna do it!

Drag your cursor over the script below to highlight it. Then press "Ctrl" and "C" on your keyboard at the same time or just right click your mouse to copy it to your clipboard.

I'm gonna use Blog*Spot as an example. After login --> Dashboard --> Page Elements --> Edit HTML. Paste the code into your template after your <head> tag by pressing "Ctrl" and "V" at the same time or simply right click and choose "paste".

Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! I've been attacked! I repeat, I've been attacked!

As for now, I cannot browse the www using Firefox anymore. Every links I turned to or clicked on will go to this page below.

Thinking aloud in my head, "WTF is going on?"

Then I noticed my homepage on Firefox got China pasted on it as shown in the image below;

Ironically, my Internet Explorer Seven (IE7), was not affected by the invading Chinese's characters. I don't used IE7 much for the obvious reasons as stated in this post, Firefox vs Opera vs Internet Explorer.

I looked up for my IP and I was shocked to learn that I'm now in China, living in a place called Chengdu. The image below I took it with FireShot, in Firefox.

But when I was using IE7, I got the correct IP as shown in the image below. This time I used SnagIt 8 to take the image.

I really missed Firefox with his awesome add-on. And now I'm not able to use GreaseMonkey, Gspace, Web Developer and many many more other add-on in my arsenal.

I'm out of my wits trying to solve these problem. Anybody out there computer experts, please tell me how to get my Firefox back? I'm open to any suggestions.

Advertising on JohnChow [dot] com

While minding my own business, surfing the Internet, searching and reading whatever posts that caught my fancy, I received a lovely comment from Lankapo. He told me that my Internet business card with Entrecard is now flying high and proud on none other than the genius Internet Marketer, Mr. John Chow.

Frankly, I've forgotten all about it. After looking high and low, I found out that on January 6, 2008 I bidded to advertise on John Chow [dot] com for the amount of 287 Entrecard's credit points. After that, I just forgot all about it until today January 19 2008.

During the early days after joining Entrecard, I was quite active not only just dropping card, but I made it a point to read and leave a comment or two on every blogs that I visited.

Usually, I don't just leave a simple comment and then pasting links all over the comment's text area. Maybe because of that I befriended many awesome bloggers from all over the world wide web. And many of them are still keeping in touch with me.

Then I realized, the more blogs I visited, the more credit points I gained till to the point that it took nearly a hundred credit point to advertise on my blog. Not many Entrecard's members have that kind of credit points especially to the newbies.

Learning to Let It Go

I am a faithful subscriber of Jack Book's feed and his latest post caught my fancy. Frankly, I've stopped coming over to his blog ever since he hired someone else to help him out with his blog day to day operations.

Only lately, it seem that Jack Book himself has published his own posts and I decided to come over and leave a comment or two. I thought of trackbacking this post to his, but I don't see Jack using trackback for his blog.

Yeah, I know. Blog*Spot don't have trackback capability and the nearest Blog*Spot comes up with a trackback is 'Backlinks'. And yes, this is the same trackback like those in WordPress. I have been using trackback for Blogger for quite some times now. The only drawback is that I don't have trackback url. That's mean I can only sent trackback, but I can't received any as I CAN received Backlinks only. Maybe one of these days, JackBook can comes up with the solution. What say you, Jack?

Before I answer a question for a fellow blogger who is having some sort of a problem with his sitemap, I would like to share a little story with all my readers who came here to read this post. Especially to JackBook. Somehow, according to one commenter (on Jack's blog), the other 40% who hated his templates have removed the owner links by putting their own link as though claiming to the WWW that the templates that they're using are of their own creation!

I can't believed it. Can't they see the seriousness of the matter of plagiarism? How could one say at least 10 (only TEN!) people leave the links intact, giving credits to JackBook for his awesome template and hard works! Yes I can understand not all of us are using high speed broadband and it is understandable to take out some animated images if it took longer to upload the templates, but to take out a mere link? Gee... That's pure evil.

Anyway, here's the story. This article was written by Oran Stewart, late of Suite101 and it was published on December 3rd, 2000. Last December 2006, I tried to write to Mr. Oran but failed. Then I sent an email to the WebMaster of Suite101 and I got an answer from Maureen on behalf of the WebMaster. Here's the email dated on Monday, December 18th, 2006 an answer for a published article by the same author, Recovery: Does it have to be a struggle?

As I've always mentioned, it has become my habit to write to the author of the article whenever I want to use it on my blog. So, without further ado, here goes:

The Mystery of the Stolen Ladder: Learning to Let it Go

It was 1958 and I was in the third grade. We must have been outside for morning recess, and it was probably early in the fall of that year, because I still remember it being warm and sunny outside. It was the first school day for my new white sneakers. Why that is momentous at all is that I can still remember how pissed I was at Chuck, one of my friends then, when he walked up to me and said, “Nice shoes!” Then he stomped on them and got them both dirty, before I had a split second to move or make a protest. I was so angry, frustrated, and felt so betrayed, and it’s a resentment that, obviously, I still have today, almost 45 years later.

You would think that I could have dumped that resentment a long time ago, but I haven’t, though at least today I realize how silly it is to remember it all so well. I mean, it’s not all my fault that we went off to college and careers and I haven’t ran into Chuck since 1971. I know he’s a dentist somewhere.

We all happen to be wronged by some random, annoying events throughout our lives, the lady who cuts into our lane and then tries to make a left turn, or the paperboy who tosses the paper into the little pond next to our front door each morning. And it’s those minor, or major, assaults to our pride that can really get just under our skin at times, especially when we feel we have no recourse or revenge for these supposed wrongdoings. These resentments do seem to gather into our own personal “mental collections” over time, and they probably serve little good for us, because they can build and resurface over and over again in our daily lives, and really sour our days.

Friends and counselors might recommend to us to just “let it go”, that is, to try to resolve these supposed wrong-doings or at least push them aside at times. “Letting it go” can help to take some of the weight off of our backs and thus better enable us to enjoy life as life occurs, contrasted to constantly re-living, day after day, all the harmful things we think we’ve been through.

Last spring was when my son was helping with the high school prom, and he happened to take my ladder to school to use it there. A few days after the prom, he was visibly upset as he came to me to say that one of the other parents mistakenly had taken our ladder home with him. I tried to be nice and forgiving about it, believing that we could simply call up this parent and get him to drop the ladder off here at our house. But as it happened, this parent turned out to be an active alcoholic that we know and we came to realize, after a few phone calls to him, that we weren’t going to get our ladder back without a fight.

Sure, we could go the attorney route or the harassing phone call direction, and we could threaten his wife and kids. Also, we could decide not to do any of those things but still choose to feel angry and sour about the whole thing, which in turn would end up having us punishing ourselves day after day for years to come.

But we’re going to try to let it go: heck, it’s just a ladder after all.

Syahmi Asyraff's father received error for his blogs in Google Sitemap and has been asking this question for quite some times now. Before I answer the question, here's a little bit of history, where it all started. On July 11 2007, Blogger Buzz published a post dedicated to all FeedBurner's fans/users telling them,

FeedBurner users - we just added a feature for you. Matt's post on the FeedBurner blog explains it more fully, but in short, you can now specify a URL to which Blogger will redirect your feed's traffic. This means you'll no longer have some subscribers getting your Blogger-hosted feed while others get your FeedBurner feed, and your subscriber count should (as a result) be more accurate.

To enable this functionality, visit your blog's Settings | Site Feed page, and enter your feed's address in the "Post Feed Redirect URL" field.

After implementing the above redirect, then two three days later, I found out that I got an ERROR warning on Google sitemap's dashboard. When I clicked for details, I got this:

Line: 2 Invalid XML: too many tags - Too many tags describing this tag.
Line: 2 Incorrect namespace - Your Sitemap or Sitemap index file doesn't properly declare the namespace.

It made me wondered, how come Feedburner wasn't compatible with Google's Blogger services? After all, FeedBurner is now Google's family. Anyway, after searching high and low for some answers, I got the following solution.

I have to delete the old sitemap.
After that, I added new sitemap with atom.xml?redirect=false or/and
I added atom.xml?orderby=updated

That mean, when you added your feed url for the sitemap instead of placing the usual url for example like http://arahman7.blogspot.com/atom.xml Type it like this, http://arahman7.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false or/and like the second example, http://arahman7.blogspot.com/atom.xml?orderby=updated

I used the words or/and in the above sentences because it is sufficient to use only ONE url. But in my case, I've placed both urls for each of my blogs!

Voila! Now my sitemap are free from any errors or warnings. I love to show you the screenshot, but Blogger has acted up strangely. I can't upload any image for now. I hope it won't last long and I can upload my images as usual.

I'm sorry my friends for not posting as often as possible like before. Frankly, I'm quite busy lately. I'm about to create a new blog with my very own domain name. After buying the domain name, I'm stuck with a dilemma. One side of me would like this new blog to be hosted with Blogger, while the other side of me keep on urging me to move on to other hosting using WordPress. Please, give me some suggestions, my friends. I really need your help right now as I can't make up my mind.

For your informations, as of right now I'm the owner of, not one but two brand new domain names. Actually, I only bought only one for myself and the other one was a gift from a dear friend. I'm gonna post about how I've gotten myself a brand new domain name on my next post. It's a very interesting story. So, stay tune my friends. I've bought the said domain name from GoDaddy using the money I earned from both of my blogs. I know it ain't much when compared to those A-listed bloggers, but it is still progressing. Anyway, she wanted to know whether I can disable mouse right click's function. To disable right click will prevent spammers especially the guys from stealing her images and photos. I remember when I started blogging, I implemented this disable right click's function on my blogs. Then I realized, even I cannot copy anything on my own blogs to paste on other medium. It was too troublesome, and I deleted the scripts later.

Even though I manage to disable right click on my blogs, there are still ways for the computer savvy spammers to steal my contents, images and whatnot. It will only slow down the unsavvy computer literate, lol!

As a bonus for you Miss Summer, here is another great tool from my favourite WebSite, DynamicDrive. With this tool, you can stop people from hot-linking your images. This is what they have to say;

Disable Hotlinking

This tool generates the appropriate .htaccess code to disable hot linking of common file types from other sites, so only your own domain(s) are allowed to reference/ access them. For example, by disabling hotlinking on .gif files, any site not within the allowed list of domains will get a broken image when they try to reference a .gif file that's on your server.
