Where is Kedarnath Jyotirlinga located?

Kedarnath Temple is located in the Himalayan mountains of Uttarakhand, India. This temple is built at an altitude of about 3,583 meters above sea level and is considered extremely sacred.

The story of Kedarnath is connected with the Mahabharata and the Pandavas. After the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas were deeply saddened by the sin of killing their own relatives. They wanted to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva, but Lord Shiva was angry with them and did not want to meet them.

To avoid them, Lord Shiva disguised himself as a bull (Nandi) and went into the Himalayas. However, the Pandavas recognized him. Then Bhima took a giant form and tried to catch the bull, but Lord Shiva began to disappear into the ground.

As a result, the hind part (hump) of the bull appeared in Kedarnath. This is why the Kedarnath Jyotirlinga was established at this place. Other parts of Lord Shiva’s body appeared at different places, which are collectively known as the “Panch Kedar.”

Bhimashankar Temple is located in the Sahyadri hills near Pune in the Indian state of Maharashtra. This place is famous for its natural beauty and spiritual significance.

Mythological Story of Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga

The story of Bhimashankar is a famous legend associated with Lord Shiva.

Once upon a time, there was a very powerful demon named Bhima, who is believed to be the son of Kumbhakarna. He was extremely cruel and arrogant. Due to his pride in power, he performed severe penance and received a boon.

After receiving the boon, he became even more tyrannical. He started troubling gods and sages. He stopped people from performing prayers and even began killing saints. This caused great distress among all sages and deities.

Once, he captured a great devotee of Lord Shiva (a king/sage) who constantly worshipped him. The demon tried to stop him from praying, but the devotee did not stop chanting Lord Shiva’s name.

Seeing this, Bhima became furious and was about to kill him. Suddenly, a bright light appeared, and Lord Shiva manifested there.

Lord Shiva fought a fierce battle with the demon Bhima and finally killed him. To protect his devotees, Lord Shiva stayed there in the form of Bhimashankar.

That is why this place became famous as Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga, and even today, devotees come here to worship Lord Shiva.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the most sacred and famous temples in India, located in Varanasi (Kashi), Uttar Pradesh. This holy temple is situated on the banks of the Ganga River and holds great significance in Hinduism.

It is believed that Kashi is the most प्रिय place of Lord Shiva. Varanasi is also known as Kashi or Banaras. According to belief, this is the sacred city from where the path to heaven begins, and people who come here attain peace and salvation (moksha).

It is said that Lord Shiva made Kashi his permanent abode. This city is considered “eternal” (Avinashi), meaning it can never be destroyed. It is believed that by having darshan of Lord Shiva here, all sins are washed away and one attains peace and happiness in life.

Manifestation as Vishwanath

“Vishwanath” means:
Lord (Nath) of the Universe (Vishwa)

Here, Lord Shiva appeared in the form of Vishwanath, meaning the ruler of the entire universe. He promised to grant salvation (moksha) to all his devotees in Kashi.

City of Moksha

It is believed that anyone who spends their final moments in Kashi or dies here attains moksha. Lord Shiva himself whispers a sacred mantra in their ears, freeing them from the cycle of birth and death.

Trimbakeshwar Temple is a highly sacred Jyotirlinga located near Nashik in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated close to the Brahmagiri hills, from where the holy Godavari River is believed to originate.

Mythological Story of Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga

The story of Trimbakeshwar is associated with Rishi Gautam and his wife Ahalya. Rishi Gautam was a very pious and महान sage. He prayed to Lord Shiva that there should never be a shortage of water in his ashram and region. Pleased with his devotion, Lord Shiva granted him this boon.

However, other sages became jealous of him. They prayed to Lord Ganesha to teach Rishi Gautam a lesson. At first, Lord Ganesha refused, but upon their insistence, he took the form of a cow and went to Gautam’s ashram.

One day, when Rishi Gautam saw the cow in his field, he tried to gently move it away, but unfortunately, the cow died. A false accusation of cow killing (a great sin) was placed on him.

Deeply saddened, Rishi Gautam performed intense penance to Lord Shiva and prayed for forgiveness and liberation. Pleased with his devotion, Lord Shiva appeared and instructed Goddess Ganga to descend on Earth so that Gautam could be freed from the sin.

Goddess Ganga manifested here in the form of the Godavari River. Upon the request of devotees, Lord Shiva stayed there as the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga.

Today, this place is considered a symbol of faith, purity, and salvation.

केदारनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग कहाँ स्थित है?

केदारनाथ मंदिर केदारनाथ मंदिर भारत के उत्तराखंड राज्य के हिमालय पर्वतों में स्थित है। यह मंदिर समुद्र तल से लगभग 3,583 मीटर की ऊँचाई पर बना हुआ है और अत्यंत पवित्र माना जाता है।

केदारनाथ की कथा महाभारत और पांडव से जुड़ी हुई है। महाभारत युद्ध के बाद पांडव अपने ही रिश्तेदारों की हत्या के पाप से बहुत दुखी थे। वे इस पाप से मुक्ति पाने के लिए भगवान शिव की शरण में जाना चाहते थे, लेकिन भगवान शिव उनसे नाराज़ थे और उनसे मिलना नहीं चाहते थे।

इसलिए भगवान शिव ने स्वयं को छिपाने के लिए बैल (नंदी) का रूप धारण कर लिया और हिमालय में चले गए। लेकिन पांडवों ने उन्हें पहचान लिया। तब भीम ने विशाल रूप धारण कर उस बैल को पकड़ने का प्रयास किया। तभी भगवान शिव जमीन में समाने लगे।

इसी कारण बैल का पीछे का भाग (कूबड़) केदारनाथ में प्रकट हुआ। इसी स्थान पर केदारनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग की स्थापना हुई। भगवान शिव के शरीर के अन्य भाग अलग-अलग स्थानों पर प्रकट हुए, जिन्हें “पंच केदार” कहा जाता है।

क्यों है केदारनाथ इतना खास?

• यह 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक है।
• यह सबसे कठिन यात्रा (तीर्थ) में से एक माना जाता है।
• यहाँ आने से:
  • पापों से मुक्ति मिलती है
  • मन को शांति और शक्ति मिलती है

भीमाशंकर मंदिर भारत के महाराष्ट्र राज्य में सह्याद्रि पर्वतों (पुणे के पास) स्थित है। यह स्थान प्राकृतिक सुंदरता और आध्यात्मिक शक्ति के लिए बहुत प्रसिद्ध है।

भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग की पौराणिक कथा

भीमाशंकर की कथा भगवान शिव से जुड़ी एक प्रसिद्ध पौराणिक कथा है।

एक समय की बात है, भीम नाम का एक अत्यंत शक्तिशाली राक्षस था, जो कुंभकर्ण का पुत्र माना जाता था। वह बहुत ही क्रूर और अत्याचारी था। अपनी शक्ति के घमंड में उसने कठोर तपस्या की और वरदान प्राप्त किया।

वरदान मिलने के बाद वह और भी अहंकारी बन गया। उसने देवताओं और साधु-संतों को परेशान करना शुरू कर दिया। वह अपने राज्य और अन्य क्षेत्रों में लोगों को पूजा-पाठ करने से रोकता था और साधु-संतों की हत्या करने लगा। इससे सभी संत और देवता बहुत दुखी और परेशान हो गए।

एक बार उसने एक महान शिव भक्त (राजा/ऋषि) को बंदी बना लिया, जो निरंतर भगवान शिव की पूजा करते रहते थे। राक्षस ने उन्हें पूजा करने से रोकने की कोशिश की, लेकिन उस भक्त ने भगवान शिव का नाम लेना नहीं छोड़ा।

यह देखकर राक्षस भीम अत्यंत क्रोधित हो गया और उन्हें मारने के लिए तैयार हो गया। तभी अचानक वहाँ तेज प्रकाश प्रकट हुआ और भगवान शिव स्वयं प्रकट हो गए।

भगवान शिव ने राक्षस भीम से भयंकर युद्ध किया और अंत में उसका वध कर दिया। भक्तों की रक्षा के लिए भगवान शिव वहीं प्रकट होकर भीमाशंकर के रूप में स्थापित हो गए।

इसी कारण यह स्थान भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ और आज भी श्रद्धालु यहाँ आकर भगवान शिव की पूजा करते हैं।

नाम का अर्थ

• “भीम” = राक्षस का नाम
• “शंकर” = भगवान शिव

काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर भारत के उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के वाराणसी (काशी) में स्थित एक अत्यंत पवित्र और प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है। यह पावन मंदिर गंगा नदी के किनारे स्थित है और हिंदू धर्म में इसका विशेष महत्व है।

ऐसा कहा जाता है कि काशी भगवान शिव का सबसे प्रिय स्थान है। वाराणसी को ही काशी या बनारस के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। मान्यता है कि यही वह पवित्र नगरी है जहाँ से स्वर्ग का मार्ग जाता है और यहाँ आने वाले लोगों को मोक्ष (मुक्ति) और शांति प्राप्त होती है।

कहा जाता है कि भगवान शिव ने काशी को अपना स्थायी निवास बनाया है। यह नगरी कभी नष्ट नहीं होती, इसलिए इसे “अविनाशी नगरी” भी कहा जाता है। यहाँ भगवान शिव के दर्शन करने से सभी पापों का नाश होता है और जीवन में सुख-शांति प्राप्त होती है।

विश्वनाथ रूप में प्रकट होना

“विश्वनाथ” का अर्थ होता है:
विश्व (संसार) के नाथ (स्वामी)

• भगवान शिव यहाँ विश्वनाथ रूप में विराजमान हुए, यानी पूरे संसार के स्वामी के रूप में।
• उन्होंने काशी में रहकर सभी भक्तों को मोक्ष (मुक्ति) देने का वचन दिया।

मोक्ष की नगरी

• मान्यता है कि जो व्यक्ति काशी में अंतिम समय बिताता है या यहाँ मृत्यु होती है, उसे मोक्ष मिलता है।
• स्वयं भगवान शिव उसके कान में “मंत्र” देकर उसे जन्म-मरण के चक्र से मुक्त करते हैं।

मंदिर का महत्व

• यह 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों में सबसे प्रसिद्ध और पवित्र माना जाता है।
• यहाँ रोज़ हजारों श्रद्धालु दर्शन के लिए आते हैं।
• गंगा स्नान और शिव दर्शन का विशेष महत्व है।

त्र्यंबकेश्वर मंदिर भारत के महाराष्ट्र राज्य में नासिक के पास स्थित एक अत्यंत पवित्र ज्योतिर्लिंग है। यह मंदिर ब्रह्मगिरी पर्वत के निकट स्थित है, जहाँ से पवित्र गोदावरी नदी का उद्गम माना जाता है।

त्र्यंबकेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग की कथा ऋषि गौतम और उनकी पत्नी अहिल्या से जुड़ी हुई है। ऋषि गौतम बहुत ही धर्मात्मा और महान ऋषि थे। उन्होंने भगवान शिव से प्रार्थना की कि उनके आश्रम और राज्य में कभी भी पानी की कमी न हो। उनकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शिव ने उन्हें यह वरदान दिया।

लेकिन अन्य ऋषि उनसे ईर्ष्या करने लगे। उन्होंने भगवान गणेश से प्रार्थना की कि वे गौतम ऋषि को कोई सबक सिखाएँ। भगवान गणेश पहले तो तैयार नहीं हुए, लेकिन सभी के आग्रह पर उन्होंने एक गाय का रूप धारण किया और गौतम ऋषि के आश्रम में पहुँचे।

एक दिन जब ऋषि गौतम ने उस गाय को खेत में देखा, तो उसे हटाने के लिए हल्का-सा प्रयास किया, लेकिन दुर्भाग्यवश गाय की मृत्यु हो गई। इसका झूठा आरोप ऋषि गौतम पर लगा और इसे गोहत्या (सबसे बड़ा पाप) माना गया।

इस पाप से दुखी होकर ऋषि गौतम ने भगवान शिव की कठोर तपस्या की और उनसे क्षमा व मुक्ति की प्रार्थना की। उनकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शिव प्रकट हुए। उन्होंने माता गंगा को पृथ्वी पर आने का आदेश दिया, ताकि गौतम ऋषि पाप से मुक्त हो सकें।

माता गंगा यहाँ गोदावरी नदी के रूप में प्रकट हुईं। भक्तों के आग्रह पर भगवान शिव वहीं त्र्यंबकेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में स्थापित हो गए।

आज यह स्थान श्रद्धालुओं के लिए आस्था, पवित्रता और मोक्ष का प्रतीक माना जाता है।

“त्र्यंबक” का अर्थ है:
तीन आँखों वाले (भगवान शिव)

क्या आप जानते हैं कि भगवान Shiva का जन्म कब और कैसे हुआ? इसके पीछे एक प्रसिद्ध कथा है। माना जाता है कि भगवान शिव का कभी जन्म ही नहीं हुआ, इसलिए उन्हें अजर-अमर (शाश्वत) कहा जाता है — यानी जो हमेशा से थे और हमेशा रहेंगे, जिनका न कोई आदि है और न ही अंत।

Shiva Purana के अनुसार, एक बार Brahma और Vishnu के बीच यह विवाद हो गया कि सबसे शक्तिशाली कौन है। उनका यह विवाद इतना बढ़ गया कि अचानक उनके बीच एक विशाल प्रकाश स्तंभ प्रकट हुआ — एक अनंत दिव्य ऊर्जा का स्तंभ। इस तेजस्वी प्रकाश को भगवान शिव का रूप माना गया।

यह तय किया गया कि जो इस प्रकाश स्तंभ की शुरुआत या अंत खोज लेगा, वही सबसे महान होगा। तब ब्रह्मा ऊपर की ओर उसके अंत को खोजने गए और विष्णु नीचे की ओर उसकी शुरुआत खोजने लगे, लेकिन दोनों ही उसकी सीमा तक नहीं पहुँच सके।

• भगवान शिव की आराधना

श्राप से परेशान होकर चंद्रदेव ने भगवान शिव की कठोर तपस्या की। उन्होंने प्रभास पाटन में बैठकर शिव जी को प्रसन्न किया। भगवान शिव उनकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न हुए और बोले श्राप पूरी तरह खत्म नहीं होगा, लेकिन तुम हर महीने घटोगे और फिर बढ़ोगे। इसी कारण चंद्रमा का घटना-बढ़ना (कृष्ण पक्ष और शुक्ल पक्ष) शुरू हुआ।

मल्लिकार्जुन ज्योतिर्लिंग की पूरी कथा

यह ज्योतिर्लिंग आंध्र प्रदेश के श्रीशैल पर्वत पर स्थित है और यह भगवान भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती से जुड़ा बहुत ही भावुक और प्रसिद्ध स्थान है। भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती के दो पुत्र थे:

• गणेश
• कार्तिकेय

एक दिन दोनों के बीच यह प्रतियोगिता हुई कि कौन पहले पूरी पृथ्वी का चक्कर लगाकर आएगा, उसी का विवाह पहले होगा।

• कार्तिकेय जी अपने वाहन (मोर) पर बैठकर पृथ्वी का चक्कर लगाने निकल पड़े।
• गणेश जी ने बुद्धि से काम लिया और अपने माता-पिता (शिव-पार्वती) के चारों ओर घूम गए।

उन्होंने कहा मेरे लिए आप ही पूरा संसार हैं। इससे खुश होकर शिव-पार्वती ने गणेश जी को विजेता घोषित कर दिया और उनका विवाह पहले कर दिया। जब कार्तिकेय जी लौटे और उन्हें यह पता चला, तो वे बहुत नाराज़ हो गए। वे क्रोधित होकर क्रौंच पर्वत (श्रीशैल) चले गए और वहीं रहने लगे। अपने पुत्र को मनाने के लिए भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती भी वहाँ पहुंचे। लेकिन कार्तिकेय जी शांत नहीं हुए और अलग ही रहने लगे। तब शिव-पार्वती ने निश्चय किया कि वे अपने पुत्र के पास ही रहेंगे, ताकि हमेशा उसकी रक्षा कर सकें। यह एकमात्र ऐसा ज्योतिर्लिंग है जहाँ शिव और पार्वती दोनों साथ में पूजे जाते हैं, इसलिए इसका महत्व और भी ज्यादा है।

यहीं पर भगवान शिव “मल्लिकार्जुन” रूप में प्रकट हुए:

• “मल्लिका” = माता पार्वती
• “अर्जुन” = भगवान शिव

महाकालेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग की पूरी कथा

यह ज्योतिर्लिंग मध्य प्रदेश के उज्जैन में स्थित है और भगवान शिव के सबसे शक्तिशाली रूप “महाकाल” से जुड़ा है।
“महाकाल” का अर्थ है — समय और मृत्यु के भी स्वामी।

प्राचीन समय में उज्जैन नगरी में एक ब्राह्मण रहते थे, जो शिव जी के बहुत बड़े भक्त थे। उनके साथ उनके चार पुत्र भी शिव भक्ति में लगे रहते थे। उसी समय वहाँ एक बहुत शक्तिशाली राक्षस था — दूषण।

उसने कठोर तप करके वरदान प्राप्त किया और लोगों पर अत्याचार करने लगा। दूषण राक्षस ने पूरे नगर में आतंक फैला दिया। जो भी शिव की पूजा करता या उनका नाम जपता, वह उसे मार देता था। साथ ही वह साधु-संतों को भी बहुत परेशान करता था।

लेकिन फिर भी ब्राह्मण और उसके पुत्र लगातार शिव जी की पूजा करते रहे। इससे क्रोधित होकर राक्षस ने उन्हें मारने की कोशिश की। तब सभी ने मिलकर भगवान शिव से प्रार्थना की:
“हे प्रभु, हमारी रक्षा करें!”

भक्तों की पुकार सुनकर अचानक वहाँ एक भयंकर प्रकाश और ऊर्जा प्रकट हुई, और उसी से भगवान शिव “महाकाल” रूप में प्रकट हुए। उन्होंने क्रोधित होकर दूषण राक्षस का अंत कर दिया।

भक्तों की रक्षा करने के बाद भगवान शिव ने वहीं रहने का निर्णय लिया। भक्तों के आग्रह पर वे महाकालेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में स्थापित हो गए।

• यह एकमात्र दक्षिणमुखी ज्योतिर्लिंग है

ओंकारेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग की पूरी कथा

यह ज्योतिर्लिंग मध्य प्रदेश में नर्मदा नदी के बीच एक द्वीप (मंधाता द्वीप) पर स्थित है। यहाँ भगवान भगवान शिव “ॐ (ओम्)” के दिव्य रूप में प्रकट हुए थे।

प्राचीन समय में एक महान राजा थे, जिनका नाम राजा मंधाता था। वे भगवान शिव के बहुत बड़े भक्त थे। उन्होंने कठोर तपस्या की। उनकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शिव प्रकट हुए।

जब शिव जी प्रकट हुए, तो उन्होंने कहा,
“मैं तुम्हारी भक्ति से प्रसन्न हूँ, वरदान मांगो।”

तब राजा मंधाता ने कहा:
“हे प्रभु, आप हमेशा यहीं निवास करें ताकि सभी भक्तों का कल्याण हो।”

राजा की इच्छा पूरी करते हुए भगवान शिव वहीं ओंकारेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में स्थापित हो गए।

कहा जाता है कि यह स्थान मध्य प्रदेश में स्थित है और यहाँ का द्वीप ऊपर से देखने पर “ॐ” (ओम) जैसा दिखाई देता है, इसलिए इसका नाम ओंकारेश्वर पड़ा।

दूसरी प्रसिद्ध कथा (विंध्य पर्वत की कहानी)

एक और कथा के अनुसार, विंध्य पर्वत को अहंकार हो गया कि वह सूर्य, चंद्र और देवताओं से भी बड़ा बन जाए।

• उसने भगवान शिव को प्रसन्न करने के लिए कठोर तपस्या की।
• उसकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शिव प्रकट हुए और उससे वरदान मांगने को कहा।

तब विंध्य पर्वत ने वरदान मांगा कि:
“मैं सबसे ऊँचा और शक्तिशाली बन जाऊँ।”

भगवान शिव उसकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न तो हुए, लेकिन उसे समझाया कि अहंकार करना गलत है। फिर भी उन्होंने उसे शक्ति दी और वहीं ओंकारेश्वर रूप में प्रकट हो गए।
