Death is inevitable and no one knows when it will come to one. The best thing to do therefore is enjoy as much as you can since you have just this one life to live as a human being. You will never know in which condition you would die and there is no necessity for being prepared for since it can keep you waiting endlessly or just grab you by the collar when you want it lest. As such, the only thing that we can attempt to do is to appreciate life and appreciate this earth that we are living in to its fullest before we pass on to another realm. What better way of doing that than visiting beaches?

Beaches are the most amazing places simply because you get the best of three worlds out there. It is the meeting point of the sky which is endless, the water which give life as well as the land on which we live. For as long as one is at a beach troubles seem to be swept far away by the pleasant breeze that the sea brings. Hence, the best way for us to capture the essence of our lives as well as of the world we have been gifted with is to be at a place where the three elements of our lives meet.

There are however, many kinds of beaches. Some are rough; some are gentle while some represent our very lives in extremely metaphorical terms. But, one lifetime is too short a time to visit all the beaches in the world. So, we have 5 beaches which will really make you feel thankful about your human birth and your human capacity for the appreciation of beauty.

Whitehaven beach
The name itself should speak millions to you because truly it is a beach covered with white sand and one which is so beautiful that it makes people wish that they are sent to such a place after they die. It’s a beach worth dying for; a white heaven in itself. This beach is situated in Australia and the mix of sand bars and surf here is just incredible.

Fernando de Noronha
Located in Brazil, this is a tropical beach with all the elements of an exotic beach. Noronha is basically a group of islands out there and generally it is not very crowded. Therefore the beauty is more serene and perfectly intact out here.

Maya beach
This one is in Thailand and it s just awe inspiring. Surrounded by white cliffs on three of its sides and located atop a coral reef this beach is just wow. The water is like crystal and totally unbelievably beautiful.

Navagio beach
It’s a beautiful place if you are looking for something to give you the real feel of the sea. The water is warm, the sand is blonde and the beauty of the limestone cliffs guarding it is just terrific.

Tulum beach
Situated in Mexico, this beach is spicy and gives a once in a lifetime experience.

Getting ready to travel abroad for the first time? Great choice! You will likely look back on the decision to take the plunge and do something daring as a pivotal event in your life. After all, traveling to other countries opens a person’s eyes to a whole new way of life. You’re likely to get bitten by the travel bug; most folks who venture overseas once want to do it again and again (an expensive habit, but a truly exciting one!). You’ve got your maps and your guide books, and your itinerary is firmed up, but have you given much thought to dining? American travelers are often surprised by the decidedly different style and customs they encounter at restaurants abroad. This article aims to ease the dining transition by offering five tips that will help travelers from the U.S. prepare for situations they might encounter while dining abroad.

1. Where’s my refill? It comes as a huge – and unpleansant – surprise to many Americans dining abroad that free refills do not exist in most countries. That’s right, you’ve got to pay for an entire new beverage if you want another coke or pretty much anything other than tap water. We in the U.S. are used to getting ounce after ounce of our favorite carbonated beverage for a single, low charge, but this isn’t the case most places. In most nations you have to pay again for every drink you order. Be careful and take note of this; your waiter won’t necessarily mention this as she goes back for round after round, but unless stated otherwise, you will likely end up paying much more than you expected since every refill will cost the same amount as your original drink. Diners beware!

2. And…. where’s my ice? Unless you ask for it, you are unlikely to get ice in your drink in most places in the world. In most countries people just don’t do the ice thing. There’s a chance that your waiter will shoot you down if you request ice in your beverage, but asking never hurts. Just remember that if you really want ice, you should ask for it when ordering your drink.

3. To tip or not to tip? Tipping presents a tricky issue when it comes to restaurants abroad. What is considered a “normal” tip can vary greatly depending on the country. In some places, much to the joy of many an American traveler, tipping isn’t expected at all. But you certainly don’t want to not leave a tip in a place where tipping is customary, do you? After all, you don’t want to give the ole’ U.S. of A a bad name, do you, given that wherever you go you’re an ambassador for the red, white and blue? I advise trying to look this up before you travel. Guide books often speak to this issue, and you can find discussion about it with a simple Google search.

4. Why are you charging me for the water? In many countries if you ask for water you’ll be served bottled water, as opposed to tap water. Bottled water always costs something. In some places it’s not safe to drink tap water, and in some places it’s safe but it’s just not customary. When ordering water, you have to ask for tap water in order to ensure that you get the free stuff (if it’s even available).

5. But I ordered a multi-course meal – where’s my salad? If you’re asking this question and you haven’t yet received dessert, you can relax; the salad is on its way. If you ordered a meal that should include salad but the salad doesn’t arrive right off the bat there’s no need to worry – in some countries salad isn’t served first, but rather comes after the main course and right before dessert (if dessert is in fact being served).

And there you have it! Now you can dine abroad with confidence!

Getting kids interested in art, history and science at a young age is a great way to develop their minds. Visiting museums and taking tours encourages their curiosity and helps them find connections between themselves and a long distant past. Following a few useful tips can make the trip fun for everyone.

1. Take kid friendly tours. Some museums offer tours especially for families. Others boast tour guides who are especially good with kids. Inquire at the front desk to find a tour that will be the most enriching for children.

2. Let the child lead. Kids don’t always need to go into the same depth of information that adults require. Let them set the pace and place an emphasis on the things that seem to particularly interest them. Bring along a few healthy snacks like carrot sticks and trail mix to keep everyone full, happy and focused.

3. Use photos and videos to make family history. In each new destination pose the family members in a goofy manner and take a memorable shot. Or bring along a special doll or bear that can be photographed everywhere. Kids will make a narrative all about this toy’s special journey. They might even write a story about it!

4. Books open doors. Most children have more fun at museums if they know something about them before arriving. Visiting the birthplace of one of the American presidents becomes a fascinating journey when the child has already read about the President. Many children’s books have been written about historical figures and events and this can really pique the child’s interest. Imagine reading about how Abraham Lincoln studied at night by the fireside and then being able to see that fireplace!

5. Scrapbooking. This is an excellent way to preserve memories. Include postcards, brochures and pictures taken at the site. Encourage the child to write too. This could include reflections on what they liked best about the museum or a favorite exhibit.

6. Allow time for exploration. Don’t try to cram so many attractions in that they blur together. Choose one really great place to explore and allow plenty of time. Consider going back later to really get the full experience.

7. Visit the gift shop. Kids love to get something. It could be a postcard or stickers – perhaps a book. The cost of the item does not have to be significant. It simply needs to be a small item the child will treasure and will help them remember the museum.

8. Schedule fun time. Many museums are located near parks and playgrounds. After spending quiet, grown-up time in a museum, make time for kids to have some unstructured play. This really works off the excess energy.

9. Invest in a child’s camera. It may be a disposable model or an inexpensive digital, but having a camera can be a tremendous treat for children. They’ll be delighted with the pictures they take and it’s enlightening for parents too.

10. Sketching creates memories. Bring along a notebook and some pencils for kids to use at the museum. Encourage them to create their own version of a painting or to capture their favorite room in an historic house. It’s a great way to cement memories and foster creativity

England’s West Country is an absolutely fantastic place to spend a holiday. Whether you’re a Brit who just wants to get away for a week or two, or whether you’re travelling from further afield, the West Country is a great holiday destination for all who choose to visit. Blessed with some of the best weather in the whole of the UK, some beautiful coastlines (offering awesome water sports activities), some great national parks, and stunning scenery, you are sure to have a holiday of a lifetime. Below are five of the best places to visit on a trip to the West Country.

The Eden Project, Cornwall

The Eden Project has emerged in recent years as one of the top tourist attractions in Cornwall. Literally a giant greenhouse, the Eden Project houses a variety of Mediterranean and tropical plants. Check out the cocoa and banana plantations, or kneel down to smell the fresh herbs. With a variety of outdoor gardens for visitors to enjoy as well as concerts and festivals held in the grounds every year, this should definitely be on your to-do list.

Torquay, Devon

Torquay is a stylish seaside resort in Devon and one that has managed to maintain a continental atmosphere – something that all visitors will enjoy. This is an excellent destination for families visiting the West Country as not only are Torquay’s beaches family friendly but there are also a variety of activities that can be enjoyed. Visit the National Marine Aquarium and teach your kids about the importance of conservation or take a ride on the steam railway. Kids will love Paignton Zoo and the spectacular natural cave, Kents Cavern, is sure to be fun for the whole family.

St Ives, Cornwall

Cobbled streets, warm summers and a traditional air are what you will find in St Ives. This pretty fishing village in Cornwall is a firm favourite with many British tourists and it’s not hard to see why. Nestled amongst rich coastal scenery the air is clear, the beaches are stunning and the sub-tropical gardens are, well, sub-tropical! If you want to get out and about during your stay you’ll find lots to do in the area. Coastal walks are always fun during the summer months, and kids will love visiting the nearby theme park Flambards Village. Make sure to stay in a holiday cottage if you really want to get a feel for traditional England.

Plymouth, Devon

Plymouth, like much of the West Country is a great place to visit if you love taking part in outdoors activities. Uniquely located near rivers, moors, the sea and beautiful countryside makes almost any sporting activity an option here. Head to Plymouth Pavilion and skate on the West Country’s only permanent ice rink or hire a bike and cycle through the lush countryside. A variety of water sport activities can be enjoyed on both the sea and the river (even scuba diving!) and if that’s not enough why not head to the world famous St Mellion Golf Course? After a long day of activity you can rest up in one of the traditional English pubs and enjoy some hearty pub grub. After all, this is what holidays are all about!

If you really want to experience traditional England make sure you stay in either holiday cottages Devon or holiday cottages in Cornwall. There really is no better accommodation option for a holiday in the West Country.

By now most of us have been to a Hard Rock Cafe somewhere in the world because of their stellar reputation for great food and drinks and trendy ambience. What you may not know is that the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando, at Universal Studios, is also where you’ll find the biggest Hard Rock Cafe in th world. Best of all, you’ll also be able to rock hard with the Men in Black just steps away. That’s right; if you stay at the Universal Studio resort in Orlando you’ll be seconds away from the Men in Black, Alien Attack, one of the theme park’s best attractions. Believe it or not, depending on the travel package, the Hard Rock Hotel in the park is considered one of the cheap hotels in Orlando along with many others. That’s right, even with their one of a kind locations in the Universal Studios Resort!

If you’re into theme parks and perfect weather, Orlando, Florida is the place to go. Steps away from any of the resort hotels you’ll find a variety themed areas that give you the chance to be a part of your favorite movies along with popular cartoon characters. Besides the Men in Black you’ll find an endless array of shows, rides and movies sets based on favorites like Revenge of the Mummy, Shrek 4D, the Simpson’s Ride which is funny and wild, and the Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket, a fun roller coaster. You’ll also enjoy the parks Islands of Adventure where you can work your way through 6 different islands where you’ll get to check out Harry Potter, Spiderman, Shrek and more. It’s hard to believe you can find cheap hotel rooms near these kinds of amenities in Orlando, but you can!

When you’re ready for some grown up time, Universal Citywalk has everything you could possibly want when it comes to shopping, fun restaurants like the Hard Rock Cafe mentioned above, NASCAR Sports Grill, Margaritaville and more. You can also dance the night away, take in a show or even visit a Karaoke Club; it’s all here at Universal Citywalk.

The best part about booking one of the discount hotels and vacationing here is the vast assortment of world class theme parks. Besides Universal Studios you’ll find the Walt Disney World Resort and Orlando’s Sea World, all offering their own style of outdoor fun with fantastic accommodations nearby. Walt Disney World has an endless amount of exciting rides and all your favorite Disney friends and Sea world Orlando lets you get up close and personal with whales and other sea life and enjoy a variety of rides and fun exhibits. All this and more await you in Orlando, Florida.

The Caribbean continues to be the most popular cruise area in the world. It is particularly attractive with British tourists in the winter months as they look to escape the long dark British Winter. Caribbean cruise holidays give the opportunity to visit and experience some of the 7,000 different islands without the hassle and expense of internal flights. Cruise companies are also attracting tourists by offering exclusive access to private beaches; for example, the Royal Caribbean cruise liner has the exclusive use of Laydee Island, a particular favourite for families with young children.

The tourist industry in the Caribbean continues to evolve and develop to continue to attract the large numbers of travellers that many local economies rely on. Economic impact from travel and tourism equals 14% of GDP, 13% of employment, 12% of investment and 17% of exports. The largest English speaking island in the Caribbean, Jamaica is one such island that remains dependent on its tourism industry; over one million holiday makers a year visit the island, making tourism Jamaica’s second most important industry alongside mining.

Jamaica offers holiday makers a range of things to do on the island including visits to former plantation houses, Dunn’s river water falls and water sports. This year, a new port in Falmouth, on the north side of Jamaica, has been opened and was recently named ‘Port of the Year’ by the Seatrade Insider Cruise Awards. It was opened officially in March 2011 and was a historical restoration project by Royal Caribbean and the Port of Jamaica Authority, to restore the town to its full glory by creating a thematic port destination for holiday makers and essentially a ‘living museum’.

The ‘Historic Falmouth Cruise Port’ saw the construction of a new port to accommodate the Royal Caribbean’s 6,000 large vessels, ‘Oasis of the Sea’ and ‘Allure of the Sea,’ as well as the restoration of many of the town’s buildings and a themed shopping centre. Guided tours and heritage walks are also organised from the port, which explains Falmouth’s role in the ‘trans Atlantic’ trade route.

In the few months the new port has been open, Falmouth has already proved itself to be a big hit. Falmouth is particularly popular with those tourists looking to experience the culture and history that Jamaica has to offer. Falmouth is regarded as the best preserved Georgian town; it was founded in 1769 and in its heyday in the 18th and 19th centuries was the busiest port on the island, as the sugar and rum trade boomed. Sadly, since the mid 1850s, Falmouth has through a long period of decline as trade with the rest of the world has virtually dried up, resulting in beautiful buildings from its earlier heyday falling into disrepair.

It is hoped that in the coming years, Falmouth will become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean, benefitting tourists and the local economy.

The thought of studying abroad may seem unrealisable – but in fact, there are numerous fantastic opportunities out there, waiting for you to become involved. How you go about this is simple – read on to find out.

Study abroad is suitable for anyone. Regardless of your area of interest, location and availability, there are so many courses on offer that your programme can be tailored to your needs. These programmes give you the chance to open up your perspectives with life-changing experiences.

There are so many websites, programmes, organisations and locations offering opportunities for study abroad that it can be hard to know where to begin. There are several decisions you need to make to get started: firstly, where you want to study, secondly what you want to study, and thirdly for how long. Your budget also need to be taken into consideration.

Location

When you choose your destination for study abroad, consider somewhere that offers more than a lively tourist industry. Think about places with a rich cultural heritage, sites of historical or modern economic, social or cultural significance. Your chosen destination should appeal to your field of interest, be applicable to your career choice or course of study, and most of all give you something lasting to come away with – this may be enhanced language skills, accumulated study credits, or simply broadened horizons.

The many fantastic study abroad locations available range from New Zealand, for those after conservation or ecology courses, to Morocco, for Arabic classes, to India, for a vibrant cultural experience in a growing technical economy, to London, Paris, Rome and many more. There are schools in which to study abroad all over the world – some closer to home than others. Often, you can choose a multi-country programme, rather than remain in one location.

Subject

For some, the choice of subject will be determined by their current course. This does not need to be the case, however. Many study abroad programmes take on students who do not major in that particular field, so not only can you improve and develop your knowledge of your own specialist field, you can add complementary disciplines that you may not otherwise have the chance to explore.

Subject and destination are fairly closely linked, in that some places are more relevant for particular subjects than others. Often one city or country has all sorts of experiences on offer: one example is New York, where you can get involved with programmes ranging from business and economics to art history and curating. Look at the local institutions – universities, language schools, architecture, museums etc – and be guided by the existing infrastructure to orientate yourself among the myriad of courses and providers.

Length of study and budget

Deciding how long to study abroad for should fit in with your current course, and be long enough to ensure you derive a real benefit from going abroad in the first place. If your location is a considerable distance away, a longer period may be justified. All sorts of lengths of courses can be found to suit all kinds of agendas. Sometimes you may want to split your study abroad between different places for different amounts of time: anything is possible.

A less attractive but nonetheless important consideration is your budget. Often, going to study abroad with your university on a transfer programme is a cheaper option. Booking early can secure considerable discounts. Where you stay makes a difference: big cities will be more expensive than elsewhere, and the living costs of London, Paris and New York in particular are not trivial.

Getting out there

Study abroad is an eye-opening and rewarding experience that makes you globally engaged and supplies you with lifelong skills. Not only this, but it is affordable, with a diverse and individual range of locations and subjects to choose from, and easy to access, thanks to a whole host of providers, online and off. Your passage is eased every step of the way – these companies help you with visa applications, accommodation, travel and much else besides.

If you’re looking to study at an international summer school, you will be spoilt for choice by the number available around the world. Here are a few tips to choosing the right one for you.

1. How well regarded is the school? You should be able to find reviews of your prospective international summer school online. Better still, you may know people who have studied there. Word of mouth is often the best recommendation there is, but be certain to do your research too.

2. What courses do they offer? Make sure that the school offers the right course for you. Since you will be spending time and money on your education, don’t be tempted to compromise. The choice you make will differ depending on whether the main purpose of your visit is to learn a language or study a subject in the context of a different culture.

3. Are teachers well-qualified, and is the school accredited by a wider body? These are usually a good indication of the standards of teaching you will receive. Although there may be international summer schools that offer excellent study programmes with no formal accreditation, without direct experience of them it is impossible to be certain whether they will be worth the investment of a summer abroad.

4. Is it a well-established school? How long has the school been running? Older schools will have had more time to build a reputation, attracting higher-calibre teachers and allowing them to refine their courses and teaching methods. Newer schools may be perfectly good, but may not have had time to prove themselves.

5. What tests and qualifications do they offer? The purpose of studying at an international summer school is often to enhance your employability and future educational prospects, as well as to broaden your cultural horizons. It’s therefore important that the school offers qualifications that will be recognised and respected by the institutions you want to progress to.

6. How safe is it? This is something you will be able to gauge by reading reviews about the school and finding out about the city in which it is based, but also by talking to the school’s leaders and reading about their safety policies on their website. Do they have a code of conduct for students, and policies about alcohol, drugs and smoking, for example? The intended culture of the school should be fairly evident from such statements.

7. What cultural opportunities are there? You are not just going abroad to study. Visiting an international summer school is a chance to engage with a completely different culture. Some of the most sought-after schools are in attractive locations that offer cultural highlights – whether artistic, intellectual, architectural, natural or a combination.

8. What other opportunities does the school offer? Similarly, does the school offer wider opportunities than your course? Many international summer schools will provide programmes of sport, music, travel and so on.

9. Is there good student support? What facilities does the school offer for students who are struggling, either with their studies or personally? You should be able to find out fairly easily from their website or by asking the school. Are there counsellors, or other staff who take on a similar role to ensure the students’ well-being? Is there someone to contact in the event of an emergency? Or does the school see its duties as starting and stopping at the door of the classroom, leaving students to their own devices the rest of the time?

10. How much does it cost? Lastly, how much will you need to pay to spend the summer at your chosen international summer school? Although cost shouldn’t be the only factor in your decision, it might be a major one. If you are on a restricted budget, make sure you are not compromising too far on any other criteria. Spending a summer at home is better than a bad experience abroad.

London is renowned for its West End productions, some of which have run for many years. There are a number of theatres in London and many of these launch new productions each year.

There are several ways to buy tickets for any of the musicals available in 2012. This can be by phone to the Theatre Box Office, via online booking agencies, or as part of a package holiday as an optional extra.

Be sure to purchase tickets from reputable agencies, which should be members of STAR (The Society of Ticket Agencies and Retailers) or The Ticket Agents Association. Agencies will charge a booking fee on top of the ticket price.

There are many discounted theatre tickets available from agencies, or if you are prepared to go in person and queue, it is possible to buy last minute tickets for shows that day from the non-profit Leicester Square ticket booth. Do not be tempted by the offer of tickets for popular or sold out shows from touts on the street. Many of these may be counterfeit and are often exorbitantly priced.

Backbeat at the Duke of York Theatre runs until February 2012. It tells the story of The Beatles, from a small time band to the international success they became. Many of the old classic rock and roll songs are featured such as ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘Money’ and ‘Long Tall Sally’.

American Idiot at The Hammersmith Apollo Theatre is about three men who have been friends since childhood. They are trying to work out the meaning of the world post 9/11. Music for the production is by Green Day and the lyrics are by the author Billie Joe Armstrong. The show runs from December 4th until December 9th 2012.

Midnight Tango opens on January 20th 2012 at the Aldwych Theatre, running until March 31st. Created by Strictly Come Dancing Stars Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace, it is set in downtown Buenos Aires and features the Tango, with all its sensual elegance. For those who love Latin dancing, it will be a must see show.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre will host ‘Ragtime’ from May 18th to early September 2012. Based on a book by Terrance McNally, it features the relationship between three different families. It is said to be a tale of hope and transformation. The music is by Stephen Flaherty and the lyrics by Lynn Ahrens.

The Novello Theatre is due to stage ‘Mamma Mia’. It is the emotional tale of a mother and daughter on the night before the daughter’s wedding. Featuring the well loved music and lyrics of Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, with some of the songs sung by Stig Anderson, the production is due to run from 6th of September 2012 until April 2013.

American tap dancer Jerry Travers is set to star in Top Hat, his first West End production. With music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, it will appeal to old and young alike. The film has been adapted for the stage at the Aldwych Theatre from April 19th 2012 and due to run until January 2013.

The iconic sixties songs of Roy Orbison, Eddie Cochrane, Billy Fury, Chuck Berry and The Shadows feature in the production set to run at the Playhouse Theatre from the 7th of January 2012. Dreamboats & Petticoats; the Musical has been put together by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran. Bookings are available up to November 24th 2012.

The stage version of another classic, ‘Singin’ in the Rain’, is based the tale of a star from the silent movies. Don Lockwood has it all, until the advent of the ‘Talkies’, which change Hollywood forever. The Palace Theatre Production will start on the 4th February 2012 and they are taking bookings up to 29th September 2012.

The Adelphi Theatre will be hosting a production of Sweeney Todd – The Demon of Fleet Street, from March 10th until September 22nd 2012. Sweeney Todd has been falsely imprisoned and on his release, goes on a mission of justice and retribution. Adapted for the stage by Christopher Bond, the music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim.

The Young Vic Theatre will present a musical play called The Suit from May 21st 2012 to June 16th 2012. Based on the book by Can Themba with music by Frank Krwczyk, it is set in 1950, Sophiatown and is about how a cuckolded husband deals with his wife’s infidelity.

Make the most of a city break in London in 2012 by watching one or more of these memorable West End Productions.

Air travel can be anything but enjoyable. When you fly on a traditional airplane, you have to deal with invasive security procedures and the seemingly never-ending queue at the airport. You may also have to keep your cool on the plane, if you get stuck sitting next to a screaming baby or in some other uncomfortable situation. The truth is that flying doesn’t have to be uncomfortable and frustrating. You have other options. One of those options is flying via air charter. When you fly via air charter, you charter a private jet to get you from point A to point B without the stress. Chartering a jet may not be something you’ve ever considered. Few people even know you can do it. As flying on traditional airplanes becomes more unbearable, however, more and more people are switching over to this efficient and comfortable way of flying. Here’s why:

1. When you charter a jet, you don’t have to go through all of the security procedures and hassle at the airport. This is a big plus for many travelers who are outraged by the invasive security measures taken at airports.

2. If you’re running late, the jet won’t leave without you. When you charter a jet, it’s the pilot’s job to get you and your companions to your travel destination. He or she has to wait for you to arrive before taking off.

3. You and your travel companions have the whole jet to yourselves. You don’t have to deal with noisy or rude strangers. You can just sit back, relax, and enjoy yourselves in the privacy of your chartered jet!

4. You can bring your pets along and not have to worry about them being uncomfortable. They can ride next to you in a crate, no matter how big they are. On an ordinary plane, your large dog would have to ride with the luggage, away from you and scared.

5. If you experience anxiety while flying, a jet charter provides a more relaxing atmosphere to ease your anxiety. Sometimes the last thing you want to hear as the plane is taking off is the chatter of the passengers around you. Noise can make an anxious flyer feel even more anxious. A jet charter will provide you with just the calm, quiet atmosphere you need to center yourself.

So, consider ditching the airplane and opting for air charter travel next time you fly!
