			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Every business owner should know the answers to the following three critical questions about their web site&#8230;</p>
<p> (A) How many <strong>visitors</strong> did your web site get last week?</p>
<p> (B) What&#8217;s your web site&#8217;s <strong>conversion rate</strong>?</p>
<p> (C) And what are your website&#8217;s best and most <strong>profitable sources of traffic</strong>? (Visitors.)</p>
<p>If you <strong>don&#8217;t</strong> know the answers to those questions &#8212; or if you don&#8217;t know what I mean by any of those phrases &#8212; then I can almost <strong>guarantee</strong> your web marketing strategy is not generating the highest levels of sales and profits.</p>
<p> <em>Why?</em></p>
<p>Well, first of all, you may actually be getting visitors to your site&#8230; <em>but it may not be doing a good job of converting them</em> into sales-leads or customers and clients.</p>
<p>Or you may have an issue that&#8217;s affecting one of my mentor client&#8217;s web sites&#8230; he&#8217;s got a web site that is now converting more than 9% of his targeted traffic into sales-leads, but it appears his site is NOT getting the traffic (visitors) he or I had originally been lead to believe.</p>
<p>My client&#8217;s been thinking his site needs to be better at converting visitors - whereas I&#8217;ve explained that&#8217;s no longer the main issue&#8230; what he needs more urgently is to simply get <strong>more prospects</strong> (aka &#8216;targeted traffic&#8217;) on to it.</p>
<p>My client needs <strong>regional sales-leads</strong> &#8212; rather than National or International, so in his case, based on his business and budgetary constraints, I&#8217;ve recommend he starts submitting articles and press releases to local publications that are read by his target audience, runs Google Adwords with radial geographic targetting turned on, and other such tactics.</p>
<p>Those tactics will produce a stream of genuine prospects, not to his main site but to landing pages I&#8217;ve helped him develop.</p>
<p>Now prior to me getting involved he&#8217;d been sold the &#8216;Search Engine Optimisation dream&#8217;&#8230; he&#8217;d been told that all he needed to do was have a website that appeared highly in Google for certain phrases. Unfortunately he&#8217;s discovered that&#8217;s very much only one of many things he needs to do.</p>
<p>So he had invested in a website that IS appearing high on Google&#8217;s organic (free) search results, but he discovered &#8212; thanks to web statistics which he didn&#8217;t have access to before &#8212; that the traffic he was getting was mostly <strong>outside his sales region!!</strong></p>
<blockquote><p>Also his site is well designed and worded to appear high up in Google, for competitive search phrases&#8230; but it&#8217;s pretty much <em>useless</em> at getting visitors to convert into enquirers. Typical!</p></blockquote>
<p>The thing is, without having access to quality data (web statistics), he may have continued to focus on trying to optimise his site for conversion, when in fact the main issue was that he simply needs <strong>more local traffic</strong>.</p>
<p>The site (or rather the popups and landing pages we&#8217;ve created recently) are doing a damn good job of capturing sales-leads and allowing him to perform <a href="http://www.EmailMarketingDynamite.com">e-mail marketing</a>.</p>
<p><strong>How are your statistics today?</strong></p>

<div id="adbox">Tracking and monitoring statistics is one of the <strong>most essential</strong> things you can do if you spend money on ANY aspect of web marketing. </p>

<p>Also, here are some <strong>quick tips on registering domain names</strong> for <a href="http://www.edrivis.com/?p=399">landing pages</a>&#8230;</p>
<ul>
<li>If you&#8217;re advertising in print make sure they&#8217;re short and memorable.</li>
<li>Make sure there aren&#8217;t any hidden &#8216;rude words&#8217; in your domain name.</li>
<li>If you sell International always try and register the &#8216;.com&#8217; version.</li>
<li>If you&#8217;re outside the USA and sell nationally you&#8217;ll also probably want to register your country specific domain (like domain<strong>.co.uk</strong> in the United Kingom) but still register the .com to stop &#8216;cyber-squatters&#8217; and competitors trying to capture some of your traffic.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I don&#8217;t normally email about time management. but I&#8217;ve found a piece of inexpensive software that&#8217;s <strong>SO</strong> good I had to tell you about it.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been using <a href="http://www.edrivis.com/recommends/tam/"><em>The Action Machine</em></a> for a few weeks now, and it&#8217;s boosted my productivity by what I can only guess is <strong>hundreds</strong> of percent.</p>
<p><img src="/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/tam.jpg" align="right" />How it works is incredibly simple.</p>
<p>You give it a list of things you want to accomplish today, set a deadline for each task (rounded up to the nearest 15 minutes). Then it displays those tasks all on a screen with a timer underneath each one.</p>
<p>Then all you do is pick a task, start the timer and get working in it. You can click to pause the task timer, but I&#8217;ve found the best way to use it is to keep working on each task, relentlessly, until you finish it.</p>
<p>And when the task timer beeps to say the time&#8217;s up&#8230; that&#8217;s it. You don&#8217;t do any more on that task.</p>
<p>Now the relentless focus &#8212; and the fact you&#8217;re &#8216;not allowed&#8217; to spend any more time on that specific task &#8212; is a powerful way of making sure you don&#8217;t fall foul of Parkinson&#8217;s Law, which states &#8220;Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.&#8221;</p>
<p>In other words the more time you have available to do something, the longer that task takes to complete. I find that a lot &#8212; which is why for me The Action Machine has made such a big difference to the way I work. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s incredibly simple, seriously effective software. I love it.</p>

<p>A lot of modern office and productivity software is suffering from &#8216;feature bloat&#8217;&#8230; where developers throw in lots of features you don&#8217;t need and never use so they can put a higher price tag on it. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I don&#8217;t go every often but when I get the chance I love Scuba diving - the last time was in Grand Cayman quite a few years ago now. It was an amazing experience.</p>
<p>Anyway, because of this, whenever I do training on Google Adwords, I quite often use &#8217;scuba diving&#8217; as an example topic, because I can talk about every type of site from e-commerce shops selling scuba equipment, through to dive centres, certified training courses and so on.</p>
<p>So this morning I was writing an article on Google Adwords for the next issue of my <em><a href="https://www.WebProfitsMonthly.co.uk/">Web Profits Monthly</a></em> newsletter, explaining how to structure campaigns for maximum return.</p>
<p>I needed a screen shot (illustration) to go with my article so I went to Google and ran a search on the phrase &#8217;scuba face mask&#8217; and here&#8217;s the screen I got&#8230;</p>

<p>Now you can see I&#8217;ve highlighted some parts of the screen red &#8212; those are adverts offering me &#8217;swine flue&#8217; or &#8217;surgical masks&#8217;&#8230; in other words poducts that are <strong>totally irrelevant</strong> to what I was looking for.</p>
<p><strong>It&#8217;s crazy advertising</strong>, and here&#8217;s why&#8230;</p>
<p>Obviously I was looking for a <strong>scuba</strong> face masks. The word scuba was in my search phrase.</p>
<p>I was not looking for face masks to help me avoid getting swine flu, or to help me operate on anyone!</p>
<p>Now, the swine flu pandemic <em>is</em> of course on my mind. So I could quite easily have clicked any of those adverts out of <em>general interest</em>.</p>
<p>Had I done so, my click would have cost those advertisers money - and I&#8217;m guessing quite <strong>a lot</strong> of money, because the adverts I&#8217;ve highlighted in red were at the very top of the page, which is the most expensive place to have your Google adverts.</p>
<p>And if I had clicked, how likely would I have been to buy a swine flue face mask?</p>
<p><em>Not very!</em></p>
<p>In other words those advertisers are potentially losing money by getting untargeted clicks - people who click the advert out of interest but who are not actual prospects.</p>
<p>Google Adwords can cost a lot. If you want a Google Adwords account that <strong>helps grow your business</strong> &#8212; <em>and doesn&#8217;t just bleed your credit card dry with nothing to show for it</em> &#8212; then you need to <strong>advertise smart</strong>.</p>
<h2>Use Negative Keywords.</h2>
<p>All those advertisers need to do to minimise untargeted clicks is to add words like &#8217;scuba&#8217; as what are called <em>negative keywords</em>, which tell Google Adwords when <strong>not</strong> to display adverts.</p>
<p>In this case those retailers who are advertising swine flu masks should have negative keywords that prevent their adverts from displaying when I search one &#8217;scuba face masks&#8217;, and also any other type of face mask that is not swine flue related. (Motorbiking, BMXing, cycling, swimming, and so on.)</p>
<p>That&#8217;s all it takes, but they&#8217;ve failed to do this simple step and I reckon it&#8217;s costing them money.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve not yet tried Google Adwords for your business then I thoroughly recommend it - the impact on customer acquisition and sales-lead generation can be nothing short of <em>staggering</em>&#8230; <strong>just don&#8217;t make the same mistakes these advertisers are making!</strong></p>
