Gmail attachment size increased from 25 MB to 10 GB

2012-12-07T01:42:00.001-08:00

Google has expanded the Gmail attachment size to 10 GB.

It was being said that the current attachment size of the files that various email services provide is very small and many tech-savvy users shifted to use cloud based file hosting services such as Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft's Skydrive.

This feature of expanded space is available for users who use Gmail's new 'email compose experience' which was recently launched in October.

It works like all other cloud based services. When you will send a mail with a large file attached, you are basically sending a link to a file hosted in Google Drive.

This service is useful only when you have a high speed internet connection, if your internet connection is slow this service is a waste of your time.

Avoid jams using Waze application with real time fuel updates

2012-11-12T20:43:00.001-08:00

Developed by an Israeli company whose name the app uses, Waze is a community-driven navigation assistant that is available for iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry (beta only), and even Symbian – for free.

After installing it turn it on while driving for crowd-sourcing your traffic alerts through the app based on your location via GPS. The sole drawback for an Indian user is that the maps in the app are not yet fully detailed, which means that the fewer people who use it in the country, the less the app will be able to tell you.

But it is a fast learner and the more you build a community for using it the more beneficial it is going to be. If you can get your own network of friends and family members to work with it, then you’ll have instantaneous updates for the routes you frequently thread, real-time traffic updates, the ability to quickly report accidents and hazards, and information on many other facets of your navigational life.

Below is a sample video -

Real Time fuel Price feature that has been updated in the above Waze application -

It will give users with real-time gas prices along their route. No longer will you need to stop at the first gas station you see only to find the one up the street could be cheaper, or it could cost more. Now you will be able to find out exactly how much the gas costs, so you can plan accordingly.

Dedicated Waze users say their traffic reporting is incredibly accurate. If they are using a similar system for gas, you can expect it to be a trustworthy way of finding out the price of fuel.

But as said the above fuel price update feature may not be as effective for you initially but when a community would be there you would be easily able to find the exact information as this information will be provided by your fellow users of Waze application.

Share mobile videos and make movies through Threadlife Application

2012-11-12T20:20:00.001-08:00

Presently the best way to share mobile video, something that comes closest to being the Instagram for videos, has come forward in the form of Threadlife.

The app is sized at nearly 22 MB and is compatible with iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad devices running version 5.1 or later of iOS. The app is basically a new way to make movies by collaborating with others. Users can record video clips that are 3 seconds in length. These mini clips are called ‘stitches’. You can collaborate with others and combine your stitches to create a longer movie called a ‘thread’.

Similar Apps launched before like Viddy and Socialcam, were seen as some success in the social media circuit, but they were not as effective as Threadlife because what Threadlife brings with itself is portability.

Presently it is only compatible with iOS devices.
