The Panasonic BL-C30A is a wireless camera with embedded web server. It can be connected to your home network through an ethernet cable or wirelessly (the initial setup has to be performed through the ethernet connection). Once you've properly configured it for wireless mode, you don't need a computer: just plug the power adapter into an outlet and place the camera wherever you want (within the range of your wireless network).
Anyone can connect and view/control the camera remotely. If you have a broadband connection and know how to configure your router to open a port and assign it to the camera's IP address, you can see your webcam from anywhere in the world. Very handy to keep an eye on your office or empty apartment while you're away.
The embedded web server supports access restrictions through passwords of course; and users can pan/tilt the camera lens -- the only drawback is that Internet Explorer is required to use the camera (the display and controls are handled through an ActiveX control, which basically means that only Windows PCs with IE will be able to use access it).
Image quality is pretty good: you have a choice of straming video at 320x240 or 640x480 (at a reduced frame rate) and you can control brightness and video quality from remote. Users can also take 'snapshots' (i.e. save individual images).
I have another wireless webcam (a Linksys WVC11B) and the Panasonic's image quality and features are definitely superior (on the other hand the Linksys is also $100 cheaper).
The camera also offers additional advanced features like heat detection (which can turn the camera on automatically and send an email alert if someone, or something, warm gets within the sensor's range) and scripting. I've never used this, but I suppose it can be useful if you plan to set up the camera as part of a rudimentary security/surveillance system. Some cameras offer motion detection, but it can be triggered by changes in light -- heat detection seems to make more sense.
Main caveat: configuration can be tough, especially if you're a newbie. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable and it still took me a while to get it work with my wireless network until I figured out that I had to set the WEP encryption mode to 'open key' on my wireless access point (shared key mode is not supported, though this fact is buried in the documentation).
Overall, I recommend the BL-C30A but I wish Panasonic provided a way for non-IE users to access the camera (and the configuration software could also be vastly improved).

As a computer and Audio Video Tech with over 10 years of experience. I tell you go read the Forums in x10 even though the forum has been mostly deleted . You will know the hard hidden facts about this junk.
I had paid nearly $300- for a x10 camera kit for a client to install. The software is incompatible to all platforms. Has major glitches. Hardware , the cams are third class quality and so is the support. If you have nothing to do in life and want to sit and waste time on trying to figure out defective products then this is it.
Don't buy anything wireless from x10. Go Wired if you must. But then the software will not support its own hardware. So go figure ! or just stay away from it anyway.

The title says it all. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit operating system running on an Intel i7 920 processor. Logitech's camera software will not install correctly. You can't get a picture at all. I spent over an hour on the phone with Logitech Support and also corresponded via emails. The net effect was no help. Their software gives Script Errors, Not Win32 application errors, and it thinks I am running an AMD 32 bit processor. Don't buy this product for use on an Intel Windows 7 machine. I does not work. I will work fine on the obsolete XP operating system that I no linger own.

I bought this on a Gold Box deal and am very glad I did. First, the image quality is superb. TRENDnet supplies software to assist in setting up the camera but people with a bit of technical experience can go straight to the web interface and set things up there and there are some great features that allow you to set this camera up pretty much however you want.
All of the camera settings are configurable - brightness, contrast, saturation, frame rate, resolution, and even settings to synchronize with 50 or 60 Hz lighting or outdoors. It also supports WPA2 encryption and three levels of password-protected access. You can have it grab images based on movement (requires accessing the camera with Internet Explorer to configure that for some reason) or on a time schedule, and either have it e-mail the images or ftp them somewhere. And it supports dynamic domain name configuration so you can access the camera even if your IP address changes.
It also supports time and date stamping the images - pretty much a necessity - but it also supports accessing an NTP server to make sure the onboard clock is accurate.
And once you get the camera all set up the way you want it, you can save out the configuration file to make it a snap to reconfigure it in case you ever do a hard reset that restores all the defaults.
Not that it will matter to most, but this camera server is actually a full ARM-based computer running Linux. If you go to the TRENDnet website, besides getting the latest firmware, you can also get the source code for the camera OS for those that want to tinker.
The final issue is just the value. You are getting a video camera and a web-serving computer with both wired and wireless interfaces for this price. I'm glad I got mine and am using it to monitor my front porch for visitors and also as a way to monitor the weather at home. With multiple cameras, it's easy to monitor all sorts of things if someone wants to.

I bought this laptop before a year-long trip to Europe. I tried it in Best Buy and was really impressed by the feel of the keyboard and buttons. The slot-drive loading DVD player has me spoiled- I never want to get a drawer-drive again!
What's most amazing about this thing is the performance- My friends' HP's with similar specs are much slower. We can't figure out why. I used this for school as an Urban Planning student and I've run heavy software on it with favorable results. AutoCAD 2010, Adobe CS2 suite, Rhino... you name it. Faster computers can be had, but it's doable! I make my living doing graphics, and I've actually done a lot of pro graphic design on this thing while on the road. InDesign does bog down a bit when you get over 25-30 Hi Res links though. Still- it's impressive.
My previous machine was a Sony VAIO FS series with a 15" screen. I didn't have too much difficulty moving to a 13" screen. Why? I purposely chose a Dell that had an IDENTICAL native resolution (1280 X 800)even thought the screen was physically smaller. This is something a lot of shoppers don't consider. The 13" displays just as much information as the larger screen. Same info, smaller form factor. Not a bad trade-off.
Got the 9 Cell battery and I've gotten 4+ hours on this thing.
I might be a Dell customer for life. I'm looking at their Studio 17 now.... but I'll keep my baby.
PS- Here's a little expert advice for the computer shopper: The ONLY reason to buy a MAC is for an aluminum case. That's it. They have no advantage over PC's and the ads lie so blatantly that I cringe when I watch them. Also, the only time I've lost a project due to a system crash in the last two years was... on my company's MAC!! IT guy said, "oh yeah, it does that". Try not to let your college-aged daughter talk you into buying her a fashion accessory, um, I mean, a MAC. You can do much better.

I got this computer this morning at 10:30 and had it up and going by 11:00. Im not new to computers, had one for years, but my knowledge is limited. This was the easiest set up Ive ever had, simply take it out of the box, plug it in and turn it on and thats all there is to it. The on screen instructions take you through the whole process and its done in minutes. This computer is AWESOME. I didnt understand how big a 23 inch screen is, but its big. This is the fastest computer Ive ever used, you click on something and youre there. I retired a dell laptop that was 7yrs old, so maybe anything I bought would be a big improvement, but so far, I really like this computer. The keyboard is flat and very easy to get used to and the mouse, like the keyboard came with batteries installed and worked just by turning them on and NO WIRES. The only wire is the power cord. I havent got my wired connection just right yet, but it doesnt matter, I just connected to my neigbors network as simply as clicking the mouse, so Ive turned my modem off. Windows 7 is a big improvement on vista and Im still learning about it. I havent used the touch screen much and I probably wont, but Ive used it enough to know it works well. I was concerned before I ordered this computer because of no customer reviews, but its just been on the market a short while so I decided to write this review as soon as possible. Ive just had it a few hours, but so far its just great and I would recommend this computer to others.

I just received this nice 15.6" notebook and I admit that I like it! The sound is great. The keypad is really handy when you need it. And the reponse of this computer is satisfying with windows 7 loaded.
However, pictures in its product page might be a deceiving. Although they are shown in the pics, this model does NOT come with a webcam and HDMI. I was surprised when I opened the box and found this truth. Hence, I further digged into the specification sheet and found that I was wrong. Beware, if you think this is really a steal with a webcam and HDMI for this low price, you may just make a mistake like what I did.
In all, I do not regret my decision of buying it at all. You can buy a netbook for $299.99. But I will pay a little bit more to go with this notebook ($379.99) with full capability, faster processing speed and a DVD burner in trade of the mobility. Now, I am going return my cute but slow netbook...

I bought this product abt a few weeks ago and considering the money i've spent on the product and shipping i was very dissapointed that it was not a perfect fit.The width is good but it should be longer in length.You have to use a bit of force to zip it up all the way and after a few times of doing this the zipper handle broke.Please do more research before claiming it could fit the Asus g73sw.

I chose this one for the great looking wood grain or brown finish, however, it's not like that at all. Maybe a pewter color metal finish. Still looks good and sits nicely on my monitor. Video and sound quality are good. I haven't really tested out the software yet for specific video creation. I use it for Ovoo and Webex.

I used this product to look at my kids' ears, throat, teeth, hair and skin. It took very good pictures, help me to see the area I can not see normally. I kept the pictures for the future reference. This thing is very small and light, easy to operate. It needs to be connected to a pc or labtop, and it is not easy to look at my own teeth and throat. I hope this can improved or someone come up a new product to make self examization easier. We use this microscope to look other house objects too, like flowers, fruits etc. Kids had great fun to see the small things so clearly. Also I am pretty surprised that this is also a good webcam too. We can use for Skype. The only drawback of this handheld microscope is that it can not see the inner ear like ear drum. I hope the next generation of the product can be used as doctor's otoscope.

I am a huge Chipmunk fan so naturally when I got a Wii for Christmas this was the first game I went for. Yes, it's aimed for kids, but it's sophisticated enough for adults to play too. I have the Squeakqual videogame on my DS and I can assure you that if you didn't like the Squeakqual game but you're a fan of the Chipmunks, you should still give this game a try. Chipwrecked is, in my opinion, a lot better than the last game.
What's Better?
- You can play as any chipmunk or Chipette (The last game didn't let you choose)
- You really get to dance and you don't lose points for doing a move wrong. You can only earn more points for doing a move right.
- Lots of classic song choices and a few new hits from their newer albums
- Customizable clothes that you buy with the stars you earned during dance play
- Good exercise for those who spend most of their time playing videogames or for those who want to exercise and have fun at the same time
- Better graphics--I'm not sure if it was because of the DS, but the Chipmunks in the last game looked more like toys but these chipmunks look like they came straight from the movie. Their dance moves are clear and smooth and look very real.
- Dance moves that are simple enough for children to copy, challenging enough to entertain adults, and good enough to be real dance moves that you could use in a real performance
- For those who have no dancing experience but would like to learn, this is a good place to start. You learn real dance moves as you play because you have to copy them. That is much better than just watching someone dance on screen while you press a bunch of buttons to make them do better.
What could've been better?
- From what I can tell, there are only two songs out of the 30 in the list that are by The Chipettes. They are La Bamba and Turn the Beat Around. Though the other songs are great classic hits that are very hard to find now, they could've added some more songs by the girls. The last game had an even number of songs by the boys and girls.
= I do appreciate the story mode, but it is slightly cheesy compared to the usual Chipmunk theme. They could've also added different levels of play, but honestly, I'm fine with the level it's at.
- You have to use the same remote for co-op mode. It's fun to taking turns dancing, but it would've been cool if they also made a "Dance-Off" mode where two people dance at the same time and whoever gets the better score wins.
- They could have a few more outfits to choose from for each Chipmunks, but I'm not really complaining about that.
- Just as a warning for parents, the song "Walking on the Sun" does contain the phrase "What the hell happened?" It shocked me when I heard it because the Chipmunks don't curse anywhere else in their music, shows, or games. However, this is a minor thing that only happens once and since the game is rated E-10 I do think it's fair.
Fans of the original Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon will appreciate:
- The original voices from the cartoon instead of their new movie voices
- Songs originally done for the cartoon in the 80's and 90's
- The top three classic songs that make the Chipmunks famous (though re-recorded to sound more modern) "We're the Chipmunks", "Witch Doctor", and "The Chipmunk Song"
- Dance moves and locations that speak the original Chipmunk theme and relate to the new movie at the same time
All in all, this game is much better than the previous one, and it is enjoyable enough for all ages. You could use it during dance parties. You can get a good workout. You can learn how to dance like a star. You could entertain your kids. You can even just play to enjoy the Chipmunks. But don't think this is just for the kids. It's fun for everyone.
I would recommend this game to:
- Chipmunk fans
- Dancing fans
- People who want classic songs in a videogame
- Children (especially Chipmunk fans and energetics who need to let out energy all the time)
- People who are looking for good games to get exercise from
- Pretty much anyone who has a game system that this game is compatible with

I was leary about buying this without reviews, but I went against my better judgement and bought it. I'm glad I did though. Though I've still yet to get everything running right under Ubuntu Linux, I'm almost done. When I plugged it in, I instantly got playback of everything I said into the mike, and quality is very good. It shipped days before it was set to as well. I'm planning on using this for animation voice overs and the sort (look at super stickman on google video or youtube in a week or so) and it seems well suited for that purpose. I just can't think about one thing that the product is lacking, well, I suppose the design could be a BIT sturdier, but it seems good to me.

I have no idea why the only review on this cameras is from an experienced egghead kinda guy and he hates it. I have a fair amount of experience myself not a lot in networking but I do build my own computers and have done so for many years now. I have three of these cameras all up and running perfectly and wirelessly in about an hours time with no need to call customer service at all! They are great especially at the price. I would say my only complaint is the focus is a bit soft but not even enough to bother me and I work for a major television network so video is my thing. I would totally recommend this camera but you do need to have a bit of knowledge of computer networking or just have a friend help.

For the same price, there are many other webcames with greater resolution (720p) and more user friendly software. I bought this camera on sale for 15$, but then returned it in 1 hour. It kept crashing my computer and the video quality was worse than what I had on my laptop cam. I looked online and found that many people had this problem.
Bottom line: not worth the high price, nor a bargain price.

this webcam is definitely worth its price. the built in mic makes use of the webcam very handy. easy installation. works perfectly with yahoo messenger and skype. quality is good. person on the other end never had any complaints on hearing or seeing me. no lag on face time. the only downfall is this stand. the clip is flimsy but it works.

This little camera is everything I read about it. I had it running in no time at all out of the box. It is Chinese made (Shenzhen), but it has all the software on board. The instructions even tell you how to set up a free DNS so, if you have service through Cox/SBCGlobal/Verizon and your IP address changs, you can maintain your web presence to use the camera over the internet.
I set passwords on mine, because I have no desire to share it with the world, but I also have a great little iPhone app that lets me connect whenever I want to it and see what is going on. Slightly dissatisfied with the timing, as I expected a day earlier, but I won't hold that against them.

This is a very cute and very stylish webcam; however, the picture has poor color quality and poor pixelation. I like it for the design more than I do for the picture. It doesn't matter how much light you have it still seems to be a bad camera. I mean granted it can keep up with a conversation on MSN but it's just not the quality I would have expected. If you are just collecting and not needing a really good webcam then this is perfect for you. However, if you are wanting a really good webcam with good picture, this isn't going to be what you're looking for.

I ordered this product and it arrived in a timely manner. I unpacked it and setup was fairly straight forward. I noticed one of the cameras had weak signal even close to the receiver. I mounted cameras and they do work pretty good. The problem I have is that the cameras keep dropping signal/disconnecting. I have to keep re-settng the receivers and/or cameras by unplugging them and allowing them to re-aquire.
