I wrote this simple post about usb web cam drivers because I lately had probably the same probelm like you. You bought a new webcam and now you want to install your new device. The problem: you can’t find the usb driver. Try check if a CD is attached with the necessary web cam driver. Then install it from your CD. These are the original and probably the best drivers out there.
If this is now working try to go to the official website of the manufacturer and download the latest version of your web cam driver. (That means the youngest file) You’ll hopefully find your usb web camera driver in the support area. The main manufacturers of webcams are logitech, hp, miscrosoft and creative.
Good luck!

If you had no success, post a comment below. I will assist you to find a driver for your usb web camera. Please be patient.

When the Internet was still on dial-up (low speed connection), it was almost impossible to conduct video chats over the Internet. Voice and video were often lost during the transmission, and to make things worse, dial-up connections tend to drop frequently. However, all that has now changed since today’s Internet is a whole new beast.

First of all, understanding that premium or high quality content can only be transmitted via high speed connections, developers worked hard to improve the infrastructure. Today, in almost every major city in the world, you can expect high speed (broadband) Internet connections. They can be found in homes, hotels, restaurants, etc. You can even connect to a high speed connection wirelessly in many locations. This is great if you have a mobile device, such as a laptop or UMPC.

With the introduction of high-speed Internet, hardware and software developers are now able to release greatly enhanced technology to the public. Video chat is one such example.

As mentioned earlier, it was very difficult to conduct a decent online video chat in the past. However, with a broadband Internet connection, advanced hardware, and software, one can expect video chats to proceed smoothly without glitches.

Logitech recently released a new webcam, the QuickCam Pro 9000 HD webcam. This is a 2.0 megapixel webcam (the most advanced to date), and it offers support for HD (hi-def). For enthusiasts who love to record videos in HD format, this is the perfect webcam.

If you walk into a retail store, the QuickCam Pro will surely catch your attention. That’s because it has a very unique design. The small gadget has its lense situated to the left. In the middle, there is a button for taking pictures. Right below the button, there is the Logitech logo. Surrounding the logo and button, there is a circle that lights-up in red when the device is powered on.

The body of the webcam comes in two parts, which are joined by two hinges. This is to ensure that it is versatile enough to be placed on a wide variety of CRT and LCD monitors. If you like, you can also remove the gadget and place it on the table thanks to the unique product design.

The QuickCam Pro is powerful, supports HD, and easy enough to operate. The end user can use it to record personal videos or take photos with it, and then share them over the Internet with family and friends. They can also use the webcam to conduct full screen video chats with whoever they want. This is only possible with a high speed connection and a powerful webcam.

The gadget is reasonably priced at about $113. Although it costs a little more than ordinary webcams, it does sound like a fair price to pay for the advanced features and the quality of the product.

When the first laptop came out in the early years of 1980, it was so heavy (weighed 9pounds to be exact) and bulky. And not only that, the OS, Wi-Fi capabilities and other parts and even the RAM are very different compared to what we have nowadays.

The term laptop refers to some kinds of small and portable computers. Referring to today’s laptops, what we usually look for aside from its shape, brand, size and memory is the built in webcam. It would be a very advantage if a webcam is already in there right?

There are tons of reasons why we opt for laptop with webcam; some other maybe for our works but usually it is just for our own fulfillment. The very first reason of course is the practical one – to take picture/pictures of ourselves, save it and then upload it to Facebook and other social networking sites.

Next, to be able to see our loved ones who are working in other countries while chatting with them through skype and others. Through the laptop’s webcam, we can see if our gf/bf is getting fat, thin or stays just the same. You would no longer miss them since through the webcam’s help talking to them is like just you are talking to a person next door.

Third, is to be relieved from an additional cost of purchasing a webcam and the difficulty of looking for a compatible webcam and webcam driver for your laptop.

Fourthly, it would be a shame if while you are in a hotspot area, you’d pull out your laptop and then pull out also the big-circled shaped webcam then place it upfront. Isn’t it a minus points for you ladies out there? Wouldn’t it be “sossy” as what they say if the webcam is already built-in? Well a very big yes, right typical ladies? This may sound ridiculous for you guys, but ladies are always ladies with needs that most boys don’t understand.

Then last but not the least, is for work. There are some other employers who keeps tract of their employees activity through their laptops’ webcam. Sometimes, the laptop’s webcam are used by others as a security camera.

Whatever reason you have why you’d go for a laptop with webcam; just don’t forget to think twice before purchasing anything so that in the long run, you won’t have any regrets.

If you are on the go for high definition technologies, laptop with webcam must be one of your gadgets.

Many modern CCTV installations use motion detection to record video footage onto a Digital Video Recorder(DVR). The technology is very useful reducing the amount of video images you need to record, it can be even used to alert you in real time to any potential intruders. However, as much as motion detection can be a real benefit it can be a real problem if setup incorrectly. At best you’ll end up recording random video sequences which will quickly eat up your DVR storage capacity. At worst you’ll miss an intruder break into your property because the motion detection isn’t configured properly.

Setting up your motion detection camera depends on whether the motion detection software is built into the camera itself, or you are using the in built software on the DVR. As an example, many network cameras that communicate over I.P. networks have built in software to provide a variety of functions including motion detection. If you’ve bought a camera that just sends a video signal over a wired/wireless network, you’ll need to utilise the motion detection software on your DVR. The DVR itself can be a stand-alone box or a home P.C.

The easiest to configure out of all these options is the networked camera because you can access it from any P.C. on the same network. Furthermore, each camera is individually configured and self reliant (if one camera stops working it doesn’t affect the rest). A network camera can also be used to record images to a DVR and send/email images to a remote server. This means that if your DVR fails you will still get copies of your images either through email or on another remote P.C. Cameras that use the motion detection on the DVR are reliant on a single piece of software to run all cameras, if that fails then no images will be recorded. Furthermore, if the DVR itself fails then no images can be recorded.

Which ever configuration you choose the principle of setting up motion detection is generally the same. First, for each camera you’ll need to set up an area(s) in the image whereby motion is to be detected. Many interfaces use an image overlay of small squares/regions that can be selected and de-selected. Selecting a square means motion will be monitored from that image region and vice-versa. It’s important to consider which areas you select for detection. Think about the circumstances when you actually want to record images. For example, pointing your camera into a busy communal area will generate a lot of motion recordings, it’s often advisable in these circumstances to limit your motion regions to points of access to the room, i.e. doorways and windows. Outdoor cameras can often be more problematic:cameras pointing out onto the street can capture passers-by, tree’s moving in the wind can trigger detection and even rain on the lense can appear as motion. In truth, the solution to overcoming most of these problems is a combination of camera placement and motion detection configuration. Place cameras to maximise the view of important pathways and entrances that intruders will use to access your property. Minimize the number motion detection regions by selecting small areas that must be crossed to access your property.

Be aware that motion detection works by monitoring changes in image pixel light intensity, so any significant changes in light intensity in a motion detection region will trigger a motion event. This can often create unforeseen problems when the motion detector is triggered by reflections, shadows or even car headlights.

You will normally have another two main settings, one for motion sensitivity and the other for noise sensitivity. Motion sensitivity, is based upon the number of image pixels in your defined region that will trigger a motion event. It’s useful because you can prioritise the size of the object you want to detect. For example, you can detect someone entering through a door by placing a human sized region at the door opening and setting the motion sensitivity so at least half to two thirds of the region must be in motion to activate the trigger. On some cameras you’ll even have the option to define how long a motion has to be active in order to fire the trigger. Now, instead of just knowing when someone is entering a door, you can monitor if someone is waiting outside your front door, effectively creating a front door bell.

The noise sensitivity is there to filter out any noise in the image and is based upon the signal to noise ratio of the camera. The signal to noise ratio is the ratio between the strength of the camera signal and the noise present in that signal. This varies between cameras, but is more important in low lighting conditions when the camera amplifies the weak camera signal. In this case the ratio of noise present in the signal is increased, seen as white fuzzy noise in the camera image. Why is this important to motion detection? Well, because motion is detected by the number of changing pixel intensities in a given region and that also includes noise. If you have a lot of noise in the image, this will effect the performance of your motion detector and you’ll need to adjust the noise sensitivity accordingly. For this reason, it’s important to calibrate your camera both in daylight and night time conditions. Many cameras will allow you to have separate settings for low light conditions. If you need your camera to work in very low light, then either you need a camera with a low light lux rating, or use an infra-red camera.

Although setting up motion detection on your CCTV system may seem time consuming, it can have a huge effect on the performance of your system. If done properly, you will be able to monitor the daily activity in and around the home without the inconvenience of trawling through endless empty images!

A webcam driver is required by anyone who owns and operates a webcam on their computer. Drivers are components that every computer needs to properly communicate with hardware. They act as instruction manuals to the operating system, giving it instructions about how to run the new hardware properly.

No related posts.

Drivers are required for everything from video cards and keyboards to the mouse and webcam. Different manufacturers have varying ideas about how products should run, so different webcams may each require a different webcam driver. Many webcams include an accompanying CD with the driver, or computer version of an instruction booklet, on it so the computer can “learn” how to run the new device. Often installation disks are also full of other software, like a media player in the case of a webcam. The most important part of that disc, however, is the webcam driver, without which the hardware cannot function.

If you find yourself at a loss because you have an older webcam that no longer has the disc with it, do not fret! While you should always use the disc if you have it, there are sources you can find online where you can download an updated webcam driver. Try the manufacturer’s site, where many respectable companies regularly update drivers so their customers can have the smoothest operating hardware.

If the manufacturer does not have the driver you need listed on their site for your webcam model, let the search begin. There are sites available that offer comprehensive lists of webcam drivers required for many hundreds of models from dozens of manufacturers, simplifying your search considerably. Installing a new driver and removing the old one is a fairly straightforward process you can perform with your computer’s control panel. If you have software that you have used before that stops working properly, chances are there is something wrong with your driver. Computers are constantly installing updates for themselves and this can cause the need for a new webcam driver.

As you search for the right driver online, it is important that you know the brand, model and sometimes even the serial number. Once you have the right webcam driver, you can use your webcam for many purposes like recording and saving footage on your computer and providing live feeds for internet viewers. There are thousands of cameras functioning all over the world that do just that.

After all, what's better than to see each other while chatting or instant messaging, and without leaving your home and in real-time?

Live webcam chat, also known as live video chat, or video conferencing, is the hip thing on the dating and social networking scene right now. After all, what’s better than to see each other while chatting or instant messaging, and without leaving your home and in real-time?

This article explains how to webcam chat on internet, and what you need to get started.

Basically, you can webcam chat in two ways:

1) by audio or,

2) by text. When you video chat by audio, your can see and hear each other. By text, you type in the messages, but you still can see each other on your computer screens.

Before getting started in live webcam chatting there are a few things you will need. These are:

1. A computer with a later version Windows such as XP or Vista. Older versions may not support this relatively new form of communication.

2. A high speed internet connection (think DSL, broadband, cable, T1, Fiber Optics etc.): A dial-up connection is not be practical due to lugging issues.

3. Webcam: This is a web camera, popularly known as a webcam or cam for short. Some computers already come with an in-built webcam. Webcams are relatively inexpensive.

4. Software: Your webcam will typically come with a disk that installs the necessary software in your computer. This is as easy as plugging the disk into your CD drive and following the instructions. The software interprets and uploads images to be accessed through the Internet.

5. A web server: This is also referred to as a webcam chat room. It is, basically, a host site that facilitates the communication. The server must be robust enough to handle the video load which can easily cause an ordinary server to crush.

Of the above, perhaps the most difficult to decide on is the server. Typically, you and your chat friend(s) must all use the same company. The important thing here is to know why you want to chat. Do you simply want to connect with friends or relatives? Do you want to find a date? Or do your interests lean toward the risqué?

If you just want to chat with friends or relatives, then you can use one of the popular Internet services (Yahoo!, MSN, AOL, etc.) or a social networking site (MySpace.com, for example).

For those whose purpose is dating and/or erotic adult encounters, services do exist that specialize in adult webcam dating. Most adult webcam chat websites do allow free basic membership.

Whatever your purpose for webcam chatting, you should sign up with a reputable company. Why?

Well, some video chat companies have been known to install Trojan horses into an unsuspecting person’s computer. Trojan horse software can activate your webcam without your knowledge, potentially catching you in a compromising situation – and broadcasting it worldwide!

A wireless webcam is a way for anyone with a computer to record and save footage using Wi-Fi, infrared, Bluetooth, or cell technology. Wireless webcams have the advantage of providing a broader field of vision perfect for many purposes close to and away from the computer. Different cameras offer different features.

The most popular reason to get a wireless webcam, as opposed to one that is either wired to your computer via a USB port or built into the screen, is that you can shoot footage farther away from your computer. Many laptop computers and monitors come with built-in webcams, but this limits the functionality of the webcam even more than simple USB versions. The only thing you can shoot is whatever is directly in front of your screen. This is fine if your only intention is to chat online face-to-face with someone. This is often the only reason people think of to purchase a webcam, so a built-in one is just fine.

For many other people, though, the vast possibilities opened up by using a wireless webcam make getting one very beneficial. For example, home and office video surveillance is often performed these days by a wireless webcam with the captured footage fed directly to the computer. The ability to shoot live feeds of scenic views online is a very desirable thing to be able to perform, both for the person who posts it and those who locate the feed and are able to view the conditions in any place around the world where a webcam is set up to capture live footage. Wireless webcams are also critical in serious situations like traffic surveillance. Road conditions and the existence of a motor accident can be discovered and the word about it spread much more quickly.

There are many different models of wireless webcams on the market today. Things you should consider when comparing options for purchase will affect the quality of your images. A few notable things are the video size and quality, ability to set contrast and saturation settings, options for mounting the camera and how they are powered. Since a wireless webcam is not plugged in, it needs a source of energy like batteries or solar power. Check and compare options before making your final decision.

More expensive wireless webcam models have glass instead of plastic lenses, high broadcast ranges, higher frame rates and resolution capabilities. If you want features like pan and tilt controls, low-light capabilities, automatic alerts and more, you must be willing to pay more money to benefit from these features.

Some of the major manufacturers of wireless webcams include Axis Communications, Panasonic, D-Link, and Linksys.

A webcam is a small video camera that takes still or moving images and sends them to your PC via a USB cable. The quality of image capture is determined by the webcam's lens, optical sensor and the frame rate the camera can transmit.

With the growing availability of high bandwidth internet connections getting a webcam and staying in touch with friends and family has never been easier.

What is a Webcam

A webcam is a small video camera that takes still or moving images and sends them to your PC via a USB cable. The quality of image capture is determined by the webcam’s lens, optical sensor and the frame rate the camera can transmit.

The best available resolution is 640×480 and the frame rate is almost always 30 frames per second. If your looking to take movie clips then you will need a camera with a high resolution and frame rate. If you want to use your video camera for video conferencing, you could go for a cheaper, lower-spec camera but with the ever increasing availability of high bandwidth internet connections and VoIP software such as Skype, I would recommend going for a good quality camera.

PC specification and your Webcam

At this point it would be a good idea to check the minimum specification required to run the webcam of your choice, and whether your PC meets that specification. The majority of current webcams require at least Windows 98 Second Edition to work properly. Minimum processor requirements generally vary from 350MHz to 700MHz but I would suggest a processor speed of at least 1000MHz. RAM specifications vary from 128MB to 512MB. Manufacturers of webcams will generally state a wide compatibility specification, however, a good rule of thumb would be to take the top specification mentioned for your webcam and use that as your minimum specification requirement.

Ok your PC has met the minimum RAM and Processor specification for your webcam, the next thing to think about is the kind of port your webcam is going to plug into. The majority of webcams manufactured in the past five years plugs in to a USB port. However, there are two kinds of USB ports older USB1.1 ports (12Mbit/s) and the more recent USB2.0 ports (480Mbit/s). These two types look identical and you can plug a USB2.0 port into a USB1.1 socket and you can plug older USB1.1 devices into a USB2.0 port, however, only a USB Hi-Speed device on a USB2.0 port will transfer data faster than 12Mbit/s.

Upgrading your PC to meet your webcam requirements

Before you undertake any upgrade, you need to compare your PC’s specifications to the minimum requirements of the webcam you want to install. Check out the need to know below before you take the plunge.

A webcam’s manufacturer will specify certain minimum requirements that your PC should meet if it is to work successfully with the device. These generally include the version of Windows on your PC, your processor’s speed and the amount of RAM fitted.

Some webcams use a USB Hi-Speed connection. Before you buy one of these cams check to see if your PC has USB2.0 ports. If your PC runs a version of Windows older than XP then it almost certainly doesn’t have USB2.0 ports.

Most current webcams come with a built-in microphone, but a few don’t. Before you buy, check to see if your webcam has a microphone, if it doesn’t you’ll have to buy one that plugs into your sound card.
