When asked who is the most eligible bachelor in indian politics ? Without giving it a second thought,
most girls would spontaneously love to answer ''Rahul Gandhi''. He hasbeen given different names
by the indian media. such as "Prince Charming,Yuvraj" so an and so forth. He has recently
been portrait as "Garibo ka mashiha" Meaning an angle for the poor .

Let's look at his assets:

A) He is the son of the former Prime minister of India Mr. Rajiv Gandhi.
B) He is therefore ought to be rich.
C) He has also got those cute looks which most indian girls find flattering
and what about his intellectual assets? Here i mean about his qualification . Is it so easy to fool
to common man today? Though it is quite easy to fool most females. Scientists have found
and proved that female brain weighs 300gm less than compare to men! But what about those
responsible media persons who have misconstrue . Why have they acted so irresponsibiliy ?
They have created this fellow Rahul Vinci(According to the Italian passort name) an overnight
superstar. Are they been benificiary in any way ?

Congress in it's new agenda after including Rahul Gandhi as it's new member , especially recruited youth in indian politics with an aim to create a herd of qualified people. Do they even know their leader
is qualified himself or not? What are the degree that he hold whether it is figmented ? Why is subramanyam swami auspicious and has constantely put forth these concerns among the media and
the supreme court ? Why are Anna Hazare and team, Ramdev constantly insisting upon bringing
back the black money in swiss bank and revealing their names?

Do you know why was Rahul Gandhi detained in Boston Airport by the FBI? According to the Hindu news paper published in 2001, Rahul Gandhi was detained at the Boston Airport when he was on the way to Washington. He was not released untill Brajesh Mishra then a national security advisor under the Prime minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, told Mtr. Lalit Man singh who was himself an Indian
Ambassdor in the USA to get a hold about the situation and so he was released without having a clue to the PMO office. Why was he detained? What has FBI to do with it? What was he carrying along with him? What was he trying to concede? Some sources says that he may be carrying a lum sum of
2 million dollars . We donot have answers but as the saying goes ''there is no smoke without fire''.

Is this the reason why Mr. Rahul Gandhi is avoiding to visit America since then? In the year 2004, America hosted seminar where young parliamentarians from all arond the world were invited . Mr. Deora, Rajiv shukla,Birender singh , Sachin pilot and few others attended the seminar but Rahul Gandhi avoided to participate. What may havebeen the reason behind it?

I am concerned and so should all of you . We all have roots connected to india . We all have a responsiblity as citizens. Try to ponder because all these events are interconnected and may have
hidden truths. I donot care whether you are north indian , south indian, from Central region . All i care is that we all relate to ourselves to india . One Mahatma Gandhi freed us and other Gandhi
may threaten it's freedom.(not to mention, the Surname "Gandhi" is also not there own . I wonder
where is Mahatma Gandhi offsprings how do they feel?)

This is my first blog - Please send me your opinion i love critics . It will help me maintain my verve
and improve on next blog. A very happy V'day to all of you!

Time and again, our Indian politicians are in
the limelight for all kind of weird reasons. This time
media cameras caught three Karnataka sitting MLAs and ministers in
the government watching porn video clip in their Cellphone.
Wait this gets even more interesting. Guess where they were caught,
right in the middle of the Karnataka assembly where there
was a heated debate going on. And one more interesting fact, one
minister is in charge for woman and child welfare..... Click here to read the full article.

Those scandals also had the very same investigating agencies reports claiming that they did something wrong but took months and months and a very stubborn opposition party, the govt agreed to take action against them. So why this Kolaveri against Madhavan and his team? probably the ruling Cong I and its leaders are upset that they didnt get a share of this loot and that is why they are so eager to take action? - Click here to read the full article.

Visit us on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/bharatbeat and also post your comments or view about this post.

BharatBeat went to see the first winter recital of the Santrangi School of Fusion at Kean University. In one word the 2+ hour extravaganza was just outstanding.

Let me start off by giving my disclaimer that I may sound prejudiced because my daughter was performing with this team last night and thus my expectation was high to begin with. Yet every aspect of the show was just outstanding, regardless of whose child was performing. The entire presentation did not disappointment your Bharatbeat team!. I sat there thrilled to see the cohesive efforts that this team put together!

Where do I start? I've known the Satrangi team for over 11 years now as my daughter was one of the original dancers that performed when this team was just in it's infancy. This original team performed almost every weekend at many South Asian celebrations across New York/Jersy. Yet I digress, this blog update is not about the past it's about the performance of last night!

Over 150 team members from the age of 4 to adult put together a show which could best be described as combination of the Indian slant on Romeo and Juliet.. Unrequited love across generations!

The costumes, choreography, the energy, the passion displayed by this team was unbelievable. It seems this team when they hit the stage just turns it on to the next level of perfection and entertainment. Since my daughter was part of the team that performed, I knew the tireless multi-month efforts that this team had put forth to put on a production of this magnitude.

I know from experience that the kids (and of course adults) that performed are true NRI's. Many of them have never been to India, yet the passion and dedication that they show for the Indian culture comes out in their art of dance.

Many of them I'm certain are born in America and have not made may trips (if any) to India. The parents of these kids have dedicated their time, money, energy and encouragement to these kids to learn very complex dance steps. There were at least 20 to 30 parents that volunteered to do makeup and prepare this huge group of dancers to be ready to put together this extravaganza. Many parents have been doing this for months! I remember when I used to do this and let me tell you volunteering and preparing these kids to perform is no small task and it is not without these parents dedication that the show goes on!

The costume changes, the makeup, the organization of the Satrangi team is just beyond belief. My dear friend Rohit Baxi has truly hit the big time now with this performance. When the show is shown globally on Zee TV, it will surely be the icing on the cake to reward him and his team for the hard work and dedication that his team executes for every performance.

Congratulations to the Satrangi School of Fusion on this amazing show that they put on. BharatBeat looks forward to seeing future shows of this team who we consider to be a true example of NRI's with attitude!
First of all our Judiciary system is at fault, why arrest someone
and later let them go on bail? is this all part of a
well staged act? first few times CBI will oppose any bail petition
and then they wont, why? god only knows. We believe
it is part of this corrupt government's game plan which is, if you
are accused and if media is pounding on the issue, arrest
the accused, put him/her in jail for few months so that media will
loose attention on them, slowly grant bail and get the
accussed back on track. Well first we got independence from British
and now we may have to fight for independence from
     an Italian family.
BharatBeat went to the movies on Xmas Day (evening) to see with family and friends to see the new Bollywood buster hit movie "Don 2". This posting is not about this excellent movie, but the abhorrent and careless/in-sensitive behavior of the natives that go to Indian Movies. I was apalled at the embarassing and rude behavior of the parents that bought their infants to this movie.

From what my dear wife tells me this is the norm. So I guess having crying infants, and toddlers running amok is normal for Indian Movie goers.. To me this is just ridiculous..

She also told me over and over again, you can't expect normal behavior of parents at Indian cinema as opposed to what you see in American theater goers.. Why not?? She also told me to just ignore and don't make a scene..I just couldn't help myself to applaud the parent who finally picked up his roaming son who was going up and down the stairs 10 times during the entire move.

From the time we sat down to the on our nice seats at Regal Cinema in North Brunswick, NJ time the movie finished, I truly felt that I was in some time warp or in "India" where there are no respect for other moviegoers or parental discipline (common sense anyone?) shown by the 50 or so parents that bought their infants to this movie.

Knowing full well that the kids would cause chaos with crying and not staying in their seats, why would they bring their infants and/or toddlers to the movies? It's truly amazing that these parents would show the same lack of basic common courtesy and respect for other moviegoers. Do they do this if they went to see any American movies?

Here's what I observed during the 3 hour movie:

One toddler going up and down the stairs at least 10 times without the parent taking the child. I was tempted to give a standing ovation when the father finally carried the toddler after this tenth trip up and down the stairs. Yet somehow, I know, this would not be appreciated!

Infants wailing through out the movie.. because of the loud explosions in the movie, many of the infants were crying.. Thank goodness the sound system drowned out most of this background noise!

Parents holding crying infants by the exit, as they felt this was better than the child crying at their seats.Of coursed this meant instead of hearing the child wailing in the behind you, you heard the child wailing in front of you!

Ongoing background chatter during the movie. I guess people needed to discuss the story line real time..

Cell phones going off.. Silent mode anyone??

Some questions I have to ask:

Are there no babysitters available to watch the infants or toddlers?

Can't one parent stay home and watch the child if they can't get a babysitter? Hey that's what I did my kids were young! Keep in my mind that my friend who came to the movie has an infant and a 7 year old and he didn't bring either because he KNEW that they would be disruptive!

A little background on me: Specifically as a South Asian that has not gone to see ANY Indian Movie in ANY NJ movie theater over 5+ years.. There is of course multiple reasons for this:

Not many Indian Movies are worth spending $10 to see.

The crowds at the theater don't have any sense of decorum or just common courtesy for other movie goers.. In other words just plain selfishness.

Except for a handful of theaters, majority of the theaters are not well maintained!

Most of the movies that are in theaters are typically available via streaming or via DVD almost a week to 2 weeks after release.. In normal lingo this is called the "piracy factor". BharatBeat in no way endorses this!

So what's the worst thing you have seen when you go to see a "Desi Movie".. We of course don't mean what is on the screen!

FDI in Retail good or bad?

Given the raging debate over Indian Govt's decision to allow 51% FDI in
retail, we bring you the view from both the sides and also our view. The Govt is
arguing that this investment will create atleast 10million jobs. FDI in retail
will help farmers secure remunerative prices by eliminating exploitative
middlemen. Minimum 50% of the investment should go toward the backend
infrastructure such as cold storage, transportation, packing etc which again
will not only save the food and help farmers but it will also create jobs.....

Why This Kolaveri di sensation

10 million hits in just a week after the song hit Youtube.
Packed crowd for the release of the single song from the movie 3 (moonu). These
are just few records that this song is breaking and it is all set to break more.
Yes, it is the 'why this kolaveri di' song from the movie 3 (moonu), sung by the
hero of the movie Dhanush,.....

Mullaperiyar Dam - Who is right?

Another headache for the central govt is the tussle between the
neighboring southern states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Its over a dam that was
built long time ago and also has an agreement for 999 years between both the
states. MullaPeriyar dam is in Kerala and has been leased to Tamil Nadu for 999
years.....

Over the past few weeks there were several news items that really made
me think of which one to write about and eventually came up with the
idea of weekly roundup – a summary or my views of the interesting events
that happened in the past week. I will try and keep posting every week a
weekly roundup
but there are forces beyond me that might stop me from doing it.
But will definitely keep trying and here is the debut:

Beti B... Why is this hype

Well the media has been creating a frenzy over
the news of Ashwarya Bachan getting pregnant and whether they will have
twins or if she will deliver on 11/11/11… What a waste of time and
energy. Well the Bachans are attention seekers and they always want the
media light to be on them. So right from the beginning, they kept the
media on their toes by giving one news/controversy after the other. If
you think for a while, one might ask, what is so important in knowing
when or how or where Ashwarya is going to deliver?...... Click here to read full roundup

Visit us on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/bharatbeat and also post your comments or view about this post.

Anna Hazare's anti corruption movement shot to limelight because he echoed the sentiments of the comman man
which the Congress calls the Aam Aadmi. He went on severl non violent protest and literally brought the Cong I govt
to its knees and agree to build a serious Lokpal bill. All this happened when Sonia Gandhi, Congress Chairperson was
away in US undergoing a treatment. It was very clear that Cong govt had no clue how to handle the issue and everyone
just kept their fingers crossed waiting for some magic to happen.....Click here to read more

Visit us on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/bharatbeat and also post your comments or view about this post.

Cinema Cinema - On Saturday Morning's for 1 hour

Vision of Asia - On Sunday Morning's for 1 and 1/2 hours..

Both of these programs offered some insight into News, and entertainment from the Indian Subcontinent.. Both programs were quality programs where you could sit and get some good quality entertainment.. Yes, there were commercials, but you got quality..

Today you have Dish Network, Direct TV, which give 24 X 7 entertainment and of course the plethera of choices on the weekends for entertainment. What gets to me is the amount of commercials (repetitive)! No doubt the quantity has improved! Yet the quality has gone down so much that you almost have to sit and MUTE the commercials..

Even "Premium television" on satellite has so many commercials you really can't watch any program without DVR. Thank god for the DVR.

Sony Entertainment Television, Zee TV have decent programs, but OMG, if you don't record, you could just be sitting glazed in front of the TV looking at the same commercials over and over again!

In my house we have Dish Network and only 2 channels.. but the cost of these 2 channels exceed the cost of 150 channels you can get for American Television. Why this gross distortion of cost with channels? I guess Desi's will pay anything to get their Desi Fix on channels which are full of commercials and questionable content..

As I sit here and watch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa's show "Little Champs", I'm thinking.. I really need more Desi Television, not more commercials.

What do you think do you prefer quantity over quality.. You have my vote already!
The joint venture between India and Russia on developing more nuclear power by building a new power plant near Kudankulam was going on smooth until recently when the near by villagers started protesting the opening of the new plant citing fears after the disastr in Japan. But it also baffles many because the project was signed long time ago and also the construction started almost 7 - 8 yrs ago and when it all started there were no concerns or protests. So it may look like it is yet another. Click here to read more

Today, I was updating of my 2008 posts on Dad's taxi and one thing led to another and before I knew it, I was staring at an Internet Archive of my now archived Family Links Site! Now that is what I call amazing. Every link that you find across All the pages show you the link as it appeared when Family links was on Geocities.. So what I have is an archive of an archive of all my links that I had gathered for about 5 years on Geocities.

Of course many of the linked sites from my Wayback archived Geocities page are no longer alive (some are!). The fun part of this exercise is that when you link to the multiple pages that I had on Family Links, you are looking at the archived version of the linked page! That's pretty cool!

Off late, the scams in India, done by various politicians and officials has qualified for preparing a top 10 countdown on the corruptions in India. It is shameful to note that such a great nations has come down to this level and it is all because of the greedy politicians. At this point, we dont have 10 scams and sincerely hope that it doesnt become like a movie song countdown where it keeps changing and new entries come in. So here is the list.
#5 - Bofors Scam we can safely say, it all began here, yes Bofors scam was the start of an era where Indian politicians really see the potential... click here for full article

Visit us on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/bharatbeat and also post your comments or view about this post.

As in the past as soon as Jayalalitha took power, she started scrapping some of the schemes that was implemented in the previous DMK govt. One such scheme is the 'Samacheer Kalvi' which is nothing but a common sylabus for all the schools in TN except CBSE schools. One might ask whats wrong in that scheme and it sounds the right way to do it so that every kid can get the same quality of education. Yes, the scheme is good but DMK had its own hidden agenda in that. Most of the history and social subjects had more chapter on Karunanidhi and DMK rather than the true history of Tamil Nadu. So it is partially correct that this scheme was put on hold but one would hope this scheme will be put back with quality syllabus.... Click here to read the full article

Visit us on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/bharatbeat and also post your comments or view about this post.

No other country in the world has gone through the agony but Mumbai went through it in 1993, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008 and now July 13, 2011. The true victim is the common man, the Mumbaikar who tries hard to make ends meet and works hard to earn a modest living. One will wonder what is the Government and authorities doing to prevent such attacks from happening and how come Mumbai is always a soft target. But when you see the total mockery done by politicians and authorities, it becomes very evident that these politicians are taking the common man for a ride. Every politician is trying to cash in on their vote bank as soon as something like this happens instead of taking any concrete steps.

As soon as the news came out, first thing each and every politicians did was trying to visit that place and the victims. They should understand that when they come, police and authorities have to stop the investigation and provide security for them. Is that really needed? Who cares if they come and visit the injured? Will they be magically cured if they come and talk to them?

And then the blame game and insensitive statements come out. BJP claiming that the current govt policies are wrong. What did they do when they were in power? Infact couple of attacks happened when they were in power and what did they do to fix it?

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that 99% of the attacks are prevented .. what does that mean? Is he saying ok those who are affected by the remaining 1% attack are just plain unlucky, stop complaining and move on because they stopped 99%? Is the aam-adhmi (comman man)’s life so cheap?

Then comes the insensitive comments like the one from MNS chief. That these terror strikes are caused by migrants. What a stupid statement is that? Why would he try to create a communal tension in a city that is already torn by blast after blast? Is this statement really needed? This is not the right time to bring such statements. Everyone should stand united if we have to defeat the external forces from destabilizing India. And cant a senior political leader realize that and refrain from such comments?

Coming back to the big question, why is Mumbai becoming a very easy target for such attacks? The answer seems to be quite clear, it is our judiciary system. Don’t get me wrong, I support democracy, I respect any judicial system. But from what is happening with these terror suspects, it looks more or less a mockery on a common man. The suspects who were caught red handed in the previous terror attacks are happily sitting in a cell and they are given high level security and every time when they appear in the court they make a mockery of democracy. Why go through this lengthy process when there is hard evidence against them? What more than several CCTV cameras catching them in action, several dead and several eye witness counts is needed to punish these perpetrators?

Every terror group that is targeting India will be thinking like this.. send some one, cause as much damage as possible, then if caught by police, lead a peaceful life in prison with high security and have fun at the courts and even if that person gets the death sentence, appeal for President’s clemency and sit in the jail for ever. Our govt spends crores and crores to get these culprits to justice and they make a mockery of our judicial system but gives only 2lakhs to the comman man killed in these blast. So a life of a common Indian is just 2lakhs but the culprits enjoy secured cell, police protection etc…

Why cant these politicians who blame each other or just working only towards their vote bank can come together and come up with a new law that will bring quick punishment to these terror suspects? How difficult is that? Unless there is a very strong judicial system that punishes these attacks quickly and thoroughly, there wont be any fear among them. The common man who is the most impacted is just watching helplessly and unless politicians and authorities come together and fix the current system, every common man’s life in India will be a cheap/easy target. What will it take to make this change happen?

Most of us know and probably have a smart phone and we must admit that we spend most of our time staring at the phone. From Facebook status updates, to twitter updates, checking emails and sms, we are almost slaves to this new toy called smart phone.

The most funniest thing is the invention of bluetooth headsets. The are so small and goes into your ear and practically invisible. So imagine someone pulling up next to you in a stop sign, waving his/her hands frantically and talking something.. it looks so funny but they are talking to some one using a bluetooth headsets.

I must admit that it helps hands free talking while driving but at the same time it poses a safety hazard whether you have bluetooth headset or not, if you are in conversation while you are driving it will cause some amount o distraction. So in my opinion, talking over phone whether hands on or hands free should be banned and i am sure half of the working community will oppose that because most of the work is done while driving to work.

Then i came across this product - it is called a bluetooth bracelet. As you see in the picture, it looks and feels like a bracelet that you can wear it in your hand and after you connect it with your phone, it will alert you when a call comes and also displays the caller id. It vibrates when a call comes so that you will never miss a call. My question - Is a phone call that important that you have to have a leash around you to answer that? What is the difference between you and a dog on a leash? dog's owner a human being, when you are on a bluetooth headset, the phone and folks calling you are the owners.

What will happen if you miss a call from you friend who wanted to check with you on your weekend plans? is that so important that you have to have a leash on you? The point is phone is a necessity but it is not oxygen. You can live without it and with the amount of smart phone usage, everyone should set aside some time in a day where you just switch off your phone and spend time with your loved ones or on things that you love to do (not sitting before the computer). And gadgets like these should be banned or should be taxed heavily so that people will be reluctant to buy them. If this gadget has a 300% tax then folks will think twice before buying them.

Remember phone is not oxygen and so is the gadgets around it.... try to avoid them.
Visit us on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/bharatbeat and also post your comments or view about this post.
