Toast and Tea for lunch

The chain of kopitiams called Fook Yuen is my absolute favourite spot to hang. Food is reasonably priced (actually, it’s probably one of the lowest-priced food you’ll find in Kota Kinabalu), and the milk tea and kaya-and-butter toast are my absolute stress-relievers.

The food choice and taste seems to be the best at the Asia City Complex and Karamunsing Capital branches. I’ve never tried the original shop at Damai Plaza, but I’m not a big fan of the cafe at Wisma Jubli near Gaya Street; the toast isn’t as crunchy, the taste of the kaya is a little bit too coconut-y for me, and the texture of the bread is coarser. I find that strange because I presume they were supplied from the same supplier.

I also sometimes go for their half-priced cheese cakes in the cooler if they do have any. They usually sell it a few days before it expires. Fook Yuen is a little extra generous when it comes to their cheese and butter ingredients, and none of those crappy non-salted butter is used.

I’m REALLY looking forward to finishing my projects so that I can get back to updating my blogs!

The passive income from my niche blogs has been dwindling, no thanks to the recent hacking attack on said websites, as well as the total lack of updates over the past 12 months. Yes, 12 months. It’s amazing that I am still earning money from those blogs.

I’ve scaled down those sites to less than 10 now. It’s more manageable, which allows me to be more focused on creating better content in terms of quality and quantity.

I dream of having two houses — one huge and one small. I’m strangely greedy this way.

One would be a multi-million bungalow, ideally situated at the prime locality of d’Banyan Residency @ Sutera. This house comes hand in hand with my long-term objective of earning RM10 million a year within the next five years. The view at d’Banyan is absolutely breath-taking. Imagine basking in the gorgeous Kota Kinabalu sunset right in your pristinely-kept backyard while watching luxury yatches float by. And by nightfall, the soft lights of the seaside cafes reflecting on the sea waters blinks as you enjoy an intimate candle-lit dinner at your poolside. Yeah, that is the life.

The minimalist in me wish to have a no-frill, cozy little home. I already have a place in mind — a piece of land I own in Tuaran. It should look something like the one on the left.

One common characteristic both homes should share — a high-speed Internet connection with sophisticated central control mechanism where I can do certain actions as remotely as I want. I did countless sketches of my ideal home when I was little. Interestingly, ALL of these sketches would include some sort of computer (unheard of at that time), a microwave (more like the food replicator in Star Trek, but I’ve never heard of Star Trek at that time), and machines that would self-clean my home without me having to do anything. That was pretty advanced for a 7-year old kid who hasn’t been exposed with computers back in the early 80′s.

Oh, I forgot. I also added a machine that produces limitless amounts of money.

Did I mention how greedy I am?

Any verse from the Proverbs is my favourite.

Proverbs 27:1 — Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

This is one I tell myself daily. Being constantly strategizing and planning, I have honed my skill at estimating the time it takes to finish a task or arrive at a destination, so much so that this skill is almost to exactly accurate. This is why I get fidgety if something doesn’t go as I scheduled.

That line from Proverbs reminds me that I shouldn’t overthink about things that haven’t happen yet. I don’t have total control of the future (as frustrating as it is) but only what I do in the present.

I think my extrovert son have inherited this sort-of-perfectionist trait from me.

Oh, gawd, I’m so tired of putting so much of my personal photos online, so I’m not gonna put one here. Especially not when my South Korea posts are coming up.

How have I changed compared to last year? I’m working a little bit more on my looks, especially after my trip to South Korea. Just a little. And slightly more stressed now than ever before.

Korean variety shows are hilarious! I currently can’t miss an episode of Running Man. Yoo Jae Seok is one talented and funny MC. The show wouldn’t be the same if he wasn’t in it.

My other current guilty pleasures are The Gifted Man and Pan Am.

I’m afraid of going senile. Seriously, if I lose grip on reality, I might as well drop dead.

My brain is my greatest asset. The ideas and thoughts that come out of my head is mind-boglingly amazing, that sometimes I feel happily high on the amazing stuff I can come up with to solve my problems, which explains why I’m very comfortable being alone, anytime and anywhere. I just wish that I have enough energy to execute those ideas.

That’s why if there comes a day when I can’t think straight anymore, when I start to foget things or unable to do things by myself, when I lose that freedom, I won’t hesitate to cut my life short.

Wow. Stating this out like this makes me sound like I’m already out of my mind
