Authorize.net down from a single fire

A fire in Fisher Plaza, Seattle has cause a massive power outage causing leading IP-based payment gateway solution Authorize.Net to go down around approximately 11:15pm PST 7/2/09.

One of the largest gateways is brought down by a single fire taking online merchants and store fronts down with it. For the life of me I do not understand why a company of this size dealing with a magnitude of businesses from small to multimillion dollar would be set up in such a fashion that this would and could happen. You would have thought they would have had a backup of some sort in place just in case this happened. What are your thoughts on this?

We've had an informative discussion on the Webmaster Resources Discussion Forum. The thread is alt and title attributes in IMG and A tags.

The example being used is the pirate scene with buccaneer statue.

After much deliberation, this is the code that resulted:

i bought mastering autocad 2006 and autocad lt 2006, so i could apdate myself for employment,(i am unemployed). i have not used autocad since release 12 in about 1992. i did not notice the activaition code was on the wrapper of the book, and threw it away. how can get a activaition code without buying it again?

This is my first attempt at using WordPress > Motel Hotel Website Design for Australian Accommodation Websites

I like WP very much so far, but there are so many plug ins and things to get straight, not to mention writing interesting content.

I've picked a simple template and I've modified it only slightly. I've tried to add the right plug ins, but don't know that I've got them all yet. In particular, I'm not sure about the RSS and other social buttons I need to add. In the next day or so, I hope to make a video that introduces the me and the idea behind the site.

Any feedback on this site would be welcomed. Thanks.

How does Google handle what is considered spam from Twitter?

So just a while ago I decided to use what I considered the dreaded Twitter but found it could end up being a good tool to use for marketing purposes.

I also ended up spamming it a bit with links to my site but eventually realized what I was doing and deleted many of my posts to my site.

So how does anyone think Google handles Twitter spam and so forth.

I must note though that I've gotten some referrals from the Twit but seriously not many.

I run a pc repair shop and we repair laptops and pcs for people in our community 90% of the ones we fix are Dells because they are worthless, but thanks to Dell I have a job.:p
Some time last year around October I received a laptop from a customer the hard drive was dead on it, and I hooked up my portable hard drive, booted windows and checked it for any problems system wise it had none. Then I did a complete reinstall of windows on the previous Hd and it worked fine. I gave the laptop back to the client and that was the end of that or so I thought.

The laptop was stolen and it had low jack installed on the BIOS of the laptop. When I booted the laptop from my portable hard drive it reinstalled low jack in to my main computer database. For those of you who do not know what low jack is it is a system used by the police that comes installed in the bios of most newer dell pc's if a laptop is stolen and the hd is wiped clean it automatically rewrites itself onto the new hard drive through the bios. Low jack then spreads through the pc and signals the authorities of your ip address your system it gives them access to every file screen shot and even keystroke you make.

So I find out that for the last year this low jack company has had access to every thing I have done online every time I plugged in my external hard drive to my computer. They have been monitoring my emails all of my passwords everything. The cops come and obviously their is no computer here but low jack is still pinging my ip address saying that it is connected to my system.

Honestly I am not even for sure now if it has not somehow spread to my main pc as well, nor if it even came from the customer above because we work on so many of them , we also get in mother boards from everywhere I have about 30 different ones and if a Motherboard is broke we scrap them, strip them for every part we can and then trash them if it works we build laptops out of them so it could be on any one of them.
I have explained this all to the authorities and they knew I had a computer company because they have been reading all my emails for the last year but they are still giving me the old "well you better figure out who you got the motherboard , or laptop from between august to October of last year or we will charge you with receiving stolen property" and their is no way these things come from flea markets, pawn shops, yard sales, everywhere and when you go pick up ten mother boards every couple weeks you eventually end up with so many that you have absolutely no idea where they come from.

So what should I do first off I took everything I had to their office and they have no way of running the tags on all the boards, and chips I have they did look at the serial numbers I have on the laptops.

Second, How do I even figure out where this low jack crap is to trash it ? Or do I need to destroy everything pc related in my home which could ruin my business .

Third do I have any shot at seeking any type of law suit against these guys for invasion of privacy?

I get over 100 new applicants per day for my forum 99.99% are spam. I changed the system to manual activation by "moi" so I just reject all each day...occasionally a genuine ones gets rejected and then they e mail me in any case so I can get them to resubmit etc... just had a whole bunch with billgates in the generated e mail addresses..

so here I go with a drop down menu again after selecting all and then click the reject button or reject and send email button...what I really want is a reject and send nasty virus button! LOL

One Page Checkout = Lower Conversion Rates?

Hi,

We switched to a one-page checkout about a month ago as it seemed that was the way to go. Less pages to go through; having everyone on one page. We designed it very well, easy visible steps down the whole page, required the same information as before...well the conversion rate has dropped 3% since the change.

Before we had the following pages after the cart:

1/ Login or New Customer page
2/ Billing/Shipping Address Page
3/ Billing information page which also had the "Order Now" button.

So from 3 pages to 1.

I talked to another business owner friend who recently did the same thing, as soon as they moved to a one-page checkout, the conversion rate for the entire checkout process dropped.

Anyone else have this same problem?

We are going to test out going back to the old checkout process, but wanted to see other people's take on this.

AS400 and Odd Characters

I've got an issue at work with an AS400 system. I'm not an AS400 person - my knowledge of them is simply entering information. The problem is.. I can't convince the AS400 team that there is a problem.

The break down....

Starting on June 11th of this year we started having problems with what I can "invalid characters" halting the display of information. The characters are plus signs, cent signs, exclamation marks, parantheses, etc. These characters display differently between the GUI version and the Green Screen version of the AS400 - the cent sign (green screen) appears as a paranthese (GUI) even though it's made using shift + 6 ( ^ ) - this translates into dual question marks (??) in my program. The problem is, these symbols in orders created before 2009 don't play well with the XML Parser.

The AS400 group is convinced it is my program, I'm convinced it is theres.... "invalid" characters entered into my program don't appear in my program or when sent back to the AS400 system. The characters only appear when created in the AS400 system. Now... I could be crazy but to me that says it is the AS400 system that has the problem. Thing is, I don't know how to convince the AS400 team of this.

Anyone have any suggestions? Or, am I wrong? Is it my program?
