"That is 153,000 times that of today's modem and close to 6,000 times that of the common standard for ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) connections."

You may wonder why you can not viewed GenTech , Chemical & Process Technology, Heat & Exchanger Technology and other blogs yesterday if you are using Internet Explorer 7 (IE7). One of the main identified (but yet to confirm) "issue" is the the present of Sitemeter stats in these blogs. The Sitemeter stats has been temporary removed to resolve the crashing issue. I use FIREFOX for common browsing, there is NO PROBLEM with FIREFOX browser.

Barcode is widely used in our daily activities due to it high capacity in reading speed, accuracy, and superior functionality characteristics. A barcode is a machine-readable representation of information and commonly used to stored data in the widths (horizontally only and spacings of printed parallel lines . Further improvement has lead to the release of QR-code in 1994.

QR Code is a kind of 2-D (two-dimensional) symbology developed by Denso Wave and released in 1994. One of the great enhancement in QR-code is the high capacity in storing data as QR Code can contains information in both the vertical and horizontal.

There are other codes such as Data Matrix,Semacode, ShotCode, PDF417, Dot code, etc will not be discussed here.

Read & Decode Using Mobile

QR codes can be read by optical scanners called barcode readers or scanned from an image by special software. In addition, you may use your mobile phone to read the QR-code and decode. Hence, you can read QR-code anywhere, anytime as you wish and no specific scanner is required.

You found an interesting document in PDF format and would like to convert it to Chinese language for a friend. You may use Google Translate (or Yahoo Babel Fish)to assist you. Nevertheless, Google Translator does not support direct translation of PDF file. The following method can be adopted.

Step 1 : Copy the PDF Url (i.e. http://people.opera.com/howcome/2005/ala/sample.pdf)

Step 2 : Open Zoho Viewer, paste the link in to the URL box and Click "View" button. Once the conversion is done, you will able to view the PDF format in Zoho Viewer.

Step 3 : Click the "Embed" shortcut and Copy the URL (i.e. http://viewer.zoho.com/docs/xxxxx)

Step 4 : Paste the URL into Google Translator URL box. Choose the language as you wish and Click translate. Now you will be able to view the content of the PDF in the language as you wish.

You may convert to PDF format using HTM2PDF.

I have been told or heard many times that to increase a lifespan of battery in laptop is to disconnect it from the laptop when your laptop is power by external power source. One of the reason which i think is reasonable correct is the laptop is constantly charging the battery when it is permanently connected. All electronic device is having lifespan of repeating or cycle activities. BY disconnecting battery, it reduce the preserve and reduce the charging activity and relatively it increases battery lifespan.

Another reason heard is charging battery should be conducted for complete cycle to increase the lifespan of battery. The complete cycle means you charge the battery to maximum and use it till the power is completely consumed and then recharge again. Continuously connect battery to laptop mean this cycle is repeated continuously and you can imagine how destructive you connect battery to a laptop.

Well... you may expose to data lost in the event of external power down while your battery is disconnected. This is the risk that you have.

How long you need to walk from Musee Du Louvre to Notre Dame Church ? Google Map would be able to help you. Get in the Google Maps and look for Musee Du Louvre & Notre Dame Church (click here). Look for "My Map" on the top-right and click follow by checking the "Distance Measurement Tool". Check the "Metric".

Back to the map and start you tracing step. Google Maps uses straight line to estimate distance and you have to trace the complete route by continue clicking along the route. See following images.

As you trace the route, Google Maps will continue to accumulate the distance. Now normally you will get about 1.73 km following the above traced route.

A normal person walking speed vary from 4 -5 km/h (subject to people). With 1.73 km, it will take about 20-26 minutes.
