They were one of only two hopefuls to get the Dragon’s backing and rightly so. They have put together a portfolio of acts which can be hired for entertainment and with the right guidance I think their comapny will be extremely successful.  The girls pitched their company to the Dragons with an emphasis towards corporate functions but a quick look on their website and you will see they also cater for themed events and wedding entertainment.

If you missed the show then you can see in the above image two of acts that could be hired for some unusual wedding entertainment.  The girls used their ‘talking tree’ and ‘meet and greet drink table’ as examples in their pitch to the Dragons but there are many other unusual acts in theor portfolio including stilt walkers and living statues.  These types of acts are not going to replace your reception disco, live band, or string quartet but if you have the budget to spare then it is this type of novelty background entertainment that will make your wedding event one that everyone will remember.

I have just heard through an advertising agency that M&S have withdrawn their bridalwear range as of today.  I was more than a little shocked because we at Weddingo have been a keen supporter of the bridal and occasionwear range since it was introduced in March 2007 and have written articles only very recently singing their praises.  The bridalwear range was a new introduction to the M&S portfolio little over a year ago making it all the more surprising.  In fact, you can still read the Press Release from February 2007 announcing the launch on the Marks and Spencers web site.

Well sure enough the image above is what you get when you try and navigate to the bridalwear range today and I afraid we do not have any news as to why the range has been withdrawn at such short notice or whether the removal extends to the M&S stores as well.  We have asked Marks and Spencers for their comments and hope for an update shortly.

UPDATE 24/07/08

Well, I have just had a reply back from Marks and Spencer and here is the response :

I am sorry to inform you but unfortunately we currently have no bridal wear available on line or in store.

However, they will be available soon but we do not have an exact date regarding availability.

Green Rose Petals from the Emerald Isle.
I have never seen a green rose before so was surprised to see these shamrock green rose petals from Floral Keepsakes of Ireland.  The petals are freeze dried and are actually dyed green using a water based solution which got me a little worried at first.  The company do state their are non-staining though so fears of the brides pristine white bridal dress looking like an overly ripened piece of stilton by the end of the evening are banished.  The other great thing about freeze dried real petals of course is that they are 100% biodegradable. The best thing about this company is that you can try before you buy so you can ask for some samples of the petals to be posted and pay just £2.00 postage. When you are ready to buy you can buy a 2 litle tub of petals (enough for 4 to 5 tables of 8 -10 people) for £22.99. If that is too much, or you are just looking to cover perhaps the main table, then you get a pint of petals for just £6.99. It sounds like buying ice cream and just as scrummy.

Green Hydrangea Petals from Confetti
I was a bit dissapointed to learn that these freeze dried green hydrangea petals from Confetti had also been dyed green. I thought they might have been naturally green because I know my nan had many green hydrangeas in her garden when I was a kid. The individual hydrangea petal is a much smaller than the rose so you will tend to find most of these petals are clumped in clusters of 3 or 4 petals as you would find them on the shrub. When picked they resembled the little clovers that you find in the grass. Confetti sell these in tubs of 150g and I am afraid they did not give any indication of any tables this might cover. I am afraid my maths is not to up to converting weight measurements to volume so I cannot offer a comparison with the Rose petals above.  Too many petals will never go to waste because if you buy too much then they can be used to make the perfect biogredable throwing confetti.  Simply fill the petals into paper cones and have them ready to hand to your guests.
