Sandals Resorts has introduced a new wedding planning concept that give couples the opportunity to add their personality and style to their wedding celebrations.

The all-inclusive resorts for couples which operates 14 luxury resort properties across the Caribbean including Sandals Emerald Bay, Exuma and Sandals Royal Bahamian, Cable Beach in the Bahamas.

Launched its all new ‘Your Wedding Your Style’ wedding planning concept which now allows couples to customize their dream wedding at the resort, with choices on everything from colour palette and wedding accessories, to bespoke experiences.

Giving couples everything they need to make their wedding ceremony and reception at the resort a celebration of their personality and style.

Marsha-Ann Brown, director of romance for Sandals Resorts said, ‘At Sandals Resorts, a WeddingMoon is the ultimate celebration of a couple’s romance. Everything during their stay should reflect their taste and style as a couple, from the Love Nest Luxury Suites that were designed especially to offer newlyweds the seclusion they desire, to their own personal butler, who will cater to their every need, be it an indulgent couples spa treatment or a private waterfront candlelit dinner.’

Sandals has created an on-line Destination Wedding Designer which allows couples to design their wedding well in advance, while choosing from nearly 1,000 wedding ideas including everything from including flowers, decor, wedding cakes, photography, salon and beauty treatments, and Catering requirements.

Once the planning is done a unique code is generated by the system to make booking the wedding at the resort a simply process.

As an added incentive Sandals is also offering couples USD500 dollars towards their dream wedding when they book a stay for a minimum of six nights.

Bahamas Underwater Wedding

2012-05-17T14:27:00.001-04:00

Bahamas underwater wedding

Sixteen couples from the UK were married simultaneously on 16 incredible islands of the Bahamas on May 16, 2012 in uniquely designed theme wedding ceremonies reflective of each island's characteristics.

The couple were winners of the Bahamas 16 Islands Wedding Invitation promotion which focused on sharing the islands of the Bahamas with the world.

Mary Gleeson and James Potter of Whitfield, Dover experienced their nuptial with the "ENCHANTED ENCOUNTER" theme and a Bahamas underwater wedding off the island of Grand Bahama.

Grand Bahama Island one of the larger of the Bahamas island is home to the world’s largest limestone cave system in The Lucayan National Park and some of the world’s longest white sand beaches, surrounded by crystal clear waters with every sea-shade from sparkling emerald to startling turquoise.

The ceremony on the ocean floor with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins in attendance was just to the couple's liking as James a diving instructor said, “Having got engaged in the most unromantic of places (our lounge) whilst suffering from thrombosis in 2006, I couldn't be more thrilled to finally have the opportunity to marry Mary - not only in The Bahamas but in our favourite place - underwater!”

Mary and James are now honeymooning at the Grand Lucayan Resort, Grand Bahama.

TSA Offers Advice for Bahamas Wedding Brides

2012-03-24T08:44:00.000-04:00

I found an article on the TSA Blog that I am sure all you Bahamas wedding brides would be interested in reading. In it the Transportation Security Administration gives advise on what brides traveling to a destination wedding should do.

The real relief for me was captured in the topic of the blog post “TSA Says Yes to the Dress.” As most Bahamas wedding brides are usually concern about how they are going to get their wedding dress to the Bahamas, so this was great news and useful information to have for you as you plan your destination wedding in the Bahamas.

The really good news from the TSA is that “Brides-to-be can definitely bring their wedding dress through a security checkpoint.” And what about the screening “Ideally, the dress can lay flat in its garment bag or other packaging and fit through the X-ray machine.”

If your wedding dress can not fit through the X-ray machine, then an officer will screen the dress manually, which will require opening the garment bag but the TSA is saying “Rest assured that our officers will use gloves for the alternate screening to avoid damaging the dress.”

SANDALS Royal Bahamian Undergoing $20 million Improvements

2011-11-18T14:27:00.000-05:00

SANDALS Royal Bahamian Undergoing $20 million Improvements to its guest rooms as it prepares for 2012.

Speaking about the improvement going on at the Sandals Resort located on Cable, it’s General Manage Patrick Drake, said the resort was looking forward to the opening of its refurbished 60-year-old building and further increasing its foothold on the all-inclusive market in the region.

“Everybody is going after a diminishing market,” he said. “If you’re not at the top of the stream, obviously there is no future at the bottom. At the top of the market is still where it’s at, and if you’re going to give that sort of commitment then you have to have a product to back it up.”

And Sandals Royal Bahamian is “backing it up” as the resort is hosting more than 1,000 travel agents from across the US and Canada, to a free familiarization trip to the resort.

A bet that is already paying off according to Mr. Drake, as agents who have been a part of the earlier visits are already making booking for their clients.

Sandals Royal Bahamian is also expected to benefit from the increased airlift that are now coming to the Bahamas. “With airlift coming in from so many destinations we are seeing quite a nice international mix,” said Mr Drake.

And our Bahamas Wedding Planner at Bahamas Destination Wedding are certainly looking forward to participating in Sandals Royal Bahamian weddings once the renovations are completed.

Gay Concerns Rise Over Bahamas Wedding Competition Rules

2011-11-17T04:12:00.000-05:00

Gay concerns with the Bahamas wedding promotion, Bahamas 16 Islands Invitation has led to the withdrawal of one of the judges, and the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism having to clarify competition rules.

The concern resulted from the fact that in the Bahamas, Gays are not allowed to enter into civil union while in the U.K, heterosexual couples are not allowed to enter into civil partnerships.

However, the Bahamas wedding promotion is open to “residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 and over, who are legally entitled to enter into marital/civil partnership in the UK and in The Bahamas”.

Prompting Stephen Gray of Pink News, Europe’s largest Gay news service to say that in this case “no one would be eligible.”

The confusion has led to one of the judges and Marketing Director for Goldsmiths Jewelers, one of the promotion sponsors’ withdrawing from the competition. As the company is indicating that it did not want “to be seen to endorse an event which excluded the gay community.”

The Bahamas Tourist Office has since accepted responsibility for the error and has provided clarification that the clause had been intended to refer to a “ non-religious marriage ceremony, not a civil partnership” as stated in the rules.

A clause in the terms and conditions also stated that “it is not Bahamas Government policy to provide marriage licenses for same sex couples and therefore
same sex marriages cannot be performed.”

The Bahamas 16 Islands Invitation promotion will give 16 brides the opportunity to marry in 16 theme weddings on 16 different islands on May 16, 2012.

Getting Married In The Bahamas - What Documents Do I Need For A Wedding In The Bahamas?

2010-12-01T11:56:00.002-05:00

If your planning on getting married in the Bahamas then you need to ensure that you have the necessary documents that would allow you to have your wedding in the Bahamas.
So here is a wedding in the Bahamas document checklist for you.
1. You Need A Passport
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative which became effective October 1, 2007, requires that all U.S. citizens traveling outside of the United States must have a passport in order to re-enter the country. So the first thing would need to do is get a passport if you do not already have one.
And if you have a passport then you need to check that it has been renewed as you are required to renew your passport every ten years.
Once your passport is in order then you are able to not only travel but use it as an official form of identification as your passport would have most of the relevant information about you including a photography, finger print, age, gender, status and nationality.
2. Documents that prove You Qualify To Be Married In The Bahamas
Only persons of the opposite sex who are at least age 18, single (never been married), divorced or widowed can be legally married in the Bahamas. So you must be able to prove your status in order to get a marriage license in the Bahamas
If you are single then you must declare you singleness in an affidavit of single-hood before a person authorized to administer oaths like a notary public or justice of the peace.
If you are divorced then you must provide the original final decree, or a certified copy of your divorce.
And if you are widowed then you must provide the original death certificate, or a certified copy.
So getting married in the Bahamas is really simple. All you need is a passport and documents to prove your marital status and you can have your wedding in the Bahamas.

And should you have questions our Bahamas Wedding Planner would be happy to help. Just email glenn@bahamas-destination-wedding.com or call us at 1-242-327-2453

Your Wedding A Celebration of Your Style

2010-11-30T14:21:00.001-05:00

Your wedding is a celebration of your style. Unfortunately, with all the persons involved in helping you plan your wedding you often lose out on making it a celebration of your style.

So here are three simple things you can do to ensure your marriage really make the statement of style that you as a couple would like to send to your family and friends.

1. Be Courteous

Believe it or not you are the host and hostess at your wedding. So as the host it is important to be respectful of your guests and treat them the way yo as couple would like to be treated.

And one of the first things you can do is make sure you are on time. I know that it is customary for brides to be late, but this rude. So take this opportunity to stand out from the crowd and give your guests the courtesy they deserve by simply showing up on time – at the church and at the reception.

And you also want to keep the reception activities moving at an acceptable pace without too many delays, so that your guest have the opportunity to really enjoy the event.

2. Be Considerate of Your Guest

Whether you are planning an indoor or outdoor wedding, it is important to be considerate of your guest comfort. And comfort means that the chosen location is easily accessible to all with appropriate seating and temperature.

So if you are planning an outdoor event, be sure to provide shade from the sun and have a “Plan B” if the weather becomes unfavourable to continue outdoor.

3. Provide Meaningful Keepsakes

Giving your guest lasting memories of your special day is a good way to not only make your personal style to your wedding, but to get wedding talked about for years. And meaningful keepsakes are an important part of creating lasting visual reminders of your wedding day. And here are three ways that you can do that:-

Personalized Wedding Reception Table Runner

Personalized Wedding Reception Table Runner

You can easily decorate your wedding reception with your own personal wedding table runner with your name and wedding date. printed on it And when you have finished your guest can have them as souvenirs.

Personalized Glass Vase Wedding Centerpiece

This glass vase is not only a beautiful way to decorate your wedding reception, but when personally with your names will be a memento that your guests will enjoy for years to come.

Wish Kit Guest Book Alternative

Wedding Wish Kit Guest Book

I like the special memory of this gift as it is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only will your guest be able to participate meaningfully in their wishes or prayers written on that day, but will become a lasting part of marriage. And when things get a bit hard, as they will, you have the opportunity to relax with the wishes and prayers and remember why you got married in the first place.

So go ahead and make your wedding a celebration of your style!

Certified Bahamas Marriage Officer

One of the Bahamas wedding requirements is that all weddings in the Bahamas must be performed by a licensed Bahamas Marriage Officer.

This is a special designation given to a selected group of individual who have met the prescribed qualifications for the appointment as set out by the Bahamas Government through it's Registrar General Office.

And it is these Licensed Marriage Officers that are empowered to performs wedding in the Bahamas. And they can only perform a wedding for which a marriage license has been issue.

So to get married in the Bahamas and have your wedding in the Bahamas legal, you really need two things:

A licensed Marriage Officer and
A Marriage License

And to get a marriage license you must:

Be in the Bahamas at least 24 hours before applying
At least 18 years of age
Single (never married as certified by an affidavit ) , divorced or widowed.

Your marriage license is available to you the day after your application as long as you are not over age 40 and still single. If you are then the Registrar General Office requires a waiting period of two weeks to verify your status.
