Perfection, that’s all I can think of when I recall Allison and Kevin’s wedding. The weather, the friends and family, the first look, the cocktail hours, the love and the celebration. Just perfect. Having a wedding outdoors is always a bit risky, but this October day couldn’t have been any better. All the details transformed Snipes Farm Retreat into something really special (just check out some of the photos below to see what I mean).

Kevin, a true renaissance man, author, singer, song writer, guitar player. Allison, a beauty, organized, not used to being the center of attention, a woman with the most beautiful quiet smile and eyes that sparkle. Man and Woman came together and shared their love for each other with friends and family.

The day started with Judy and I arriving at the Sheraton in Chapel Hill where Allison and her sister were quietly getting ready. After that it was off to Snipes Farm Retreat and the First Look. Guest arrived shortly after and began mingling and playing horseshoes and corn-hole and partaking is some special cocktails.

During a little down time, Judy and I took a quick run inside and heard the musicians rehearsing. Out of their instruments arose the most amazing music we had ever heard. Turns out, that music was written and composed by Kevin. “Baltimore”, 4 years ago, Valentines Day, for Allison. We were blown away.  And it wouldn’t be the last time either.  I think the whole day just blew us away.  I plan on putting together a slideshow of more images set to Kevin’s music as soon as I get a spare moment.

Thank you Allison and Kevin, family and friends, for allowing Judy and I to spend time with you, and capturing memories to last a life time.  What a way for us to end the year!

Cassie and Jeff married earlier this month at Deep River Friends Meeting.  One of the wonderful traditions is every member of the church is automatically invited to the service and then encouraged to stand up and offer words of wisdom for the new couple.  Some were serious, some were delivered with a touch of humor but all were given with lots of  love.  And after the service, everybody signs the wedding document.  It truly is a family affair.

Afterwards, we all headed over to Magnolia Manor to celebrate.  Here are a few of our favorite images for the day.

I’ve know Brittany a number of years and was really excited when she picked Judy and I to photograph her wedding next July at Duke Chapel.  In the mean time, it was time for a Fall engagement session.  When I asked them to consider bringing some props, they did a great job.  But I never imagined a vial of fruit flies.  Okay Jeff, time to get out to the lab.  I’m just glad they didn’t escape.  Jeff and Brittany are really fun to work with.  We had pumpkins, fruit flies, sorority signs, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse hats.  They have a great story about getting engaged at Disney down in Florida and there’s a great story to go along with this.  Here are a few of my favorite shots, both beautiful and fun.  Enjoy!

Anna and I had the utmost pleasure photographing Casey and Derek’s wedding September 10 at Swaim Design Center in High Point. In this dream like setting we were captivated by their radiance and warmth. Thank you both for being such great subjects for our cameras.

With so many amazing photographs, it was hard to pick which ones to blog. But here are a few of my favorite images Anna and I captured. Hope you enjoy them and please leave a comment.

It’s true, on a whole, photographers are passionate about their art.  But it’s often times most difficult for us to express these feelings in words.  I’m no writer and every time I sit at my computer to compose a blog post, I start to sweat and hit the delete button over and over.  Oh why can’t I express my feelings with words?  Why didn’t I put more effort into English composition?  
So here I am again, behind on blog posts, struggling to convey the emotions I witnessed and felt while shooting Morgan and Jared’s wedding. How is it possible for me to explain what it meant to witness Morgan and her brother do the father daughter dance to their father’s favorite song: Jimmy Buffet’s “Pirate Turns 40″ and invited all the father’s and their children to join in? What a tremendous moment and wonderful tribute to her father on this Father’s Day Weekend. Sometimes I glad I’m hiding behind the camera. Teary eyed photographer (Judy too).

Judy and I arrived at Tanglewood on a hot Saturday afternoon with the threat of thunderstorms looming in the air.  Getting out of the car, a black cat ran across our path:

Morgan and Jared had decided to do the “First Look” before the wedding.

I’m so glad they did, because as we finished up and started doing the family formals, the wind started blowing and branches started falling and the rain began to pour down. Everybody rush back inside to wait out the storm but after about an hour, the ceremony had to be moved into the barn.

Nobody seemed to mind at all, because for Morgan and Jared, it wasn’t about anything other than sharing the love they felt for each other.

With so many children there, the hokey pokey and limbo dance were a big hit with everybody:

Introducing the wonderfully fun and equally adorable couple: Casey and Derek. And a special thanks to Alan Ferguson for allowing us to shoot on his property in High Point for the first part of our session. Derek was a great sport, even wore the beanie hat for me without so much as a complaint.  Oh, that last statement isn’t quite true.  He was disappointed the hat wasn’t motorized.  I’m trying to get one for the wedding.  Maybe even put some streamers on it so they fly up in the air.  Hmm, maybe not.
