I am a big fan of a great basic tee. Solid or stripes, once I find one I love I have to get them in every color! Rachel snapped these quick photos yesterday, in all my messy hair no makeup realness. This is a simple, pretty frequent look I sport on a day off or weekend. Effortless, but somewhat put together. To look a bit more dressed up I would add a bright, printed scarf or a fun necklace.

the color run

For my birthday this past saturday we ran The Color Run! I cant even begin to describe how fun it was.

I, for one, am not a runner or a work-out person, but because it was so fun and there was music playing and tons of crazy outfits... it seemed like a piece of cake! Rachel, Julie, Geoff and I had such a great time and I would totally recommend it to anyone, fit or not! And the best part? Your entry fee is a donation to a local charity (ours was Big Brothers/Big Sisters), so you are working out AND doing some good! Above are just some of my favorite photos from the day.

This weekend was one for the record books.

I celebrated my birthday on Saturday by running The Color Run with friends, and finished it off with my family coming down for Mothers Day on Sunday to one of my favorite restaurants in Costa Mesa, Ecco.

I needed some time off, and some time away from the everyday hustle and just some time to get out and have fun! I had Sprinkles Ice Cream. We saw Great Gatsby (Did you love/hate it??) at the historic and totally cute Lido Theatre. We danced and got covered in colorful powder. I ate and drank anything and everything. It was lovely.

Did I mention it was 80 degrees and gorgeous? Yea... this weekend was the best.

Anthropologie Bag Obsession

Its no surprise that I love Anthropologie. And its no surprise that I love a good bag. For the past year I have been living in a basic brown leather bag that works with nearly everything. But lately I am loving all of the amazing options at Anthro! Big or small, inexpensive or pricey, from a weekend road trip to a wine night with friends... there is a bag and an option for everyone (and everywhere!).

Above are some of my must buy, most favorite bags that we have right now! I love that we are getting in brands like Star Mela and Cleobella because their bags are to die for!! And I am not going to lie... I might already own two of them!

This is the prettiest dress I own!!

I had been waiting for this dress to arrive since I saw it in the catalogue and it was every bit as gorgeous as I had hoped! I had been trying to get better photos of it, but I have been lacking in the free time department lately! We snapped these quickly after my shift at work last Friday and even after 10 hours, I still felt like a million bucks. Honestly, if you have any summer weddings/functions to go to... try this dress! You wont be disappointed!

Wardrobe Updating

Last week the Simon Mall Group sent me out on assignment to The Shops at Mission Viejo to update a piece in my wardrobe. I thought about this task a bunch last week because with all of the Spring Cleaning I have been doing, I have been getting rid of a ton of things I no longer wear or need. I also took the opportunity to transition heavy coats to the back of the closet and started getting ready to grab for strappy dresses and shorts as Summer is approaching! I wanted to keep an eye out for something that needed to be replaced or might be out of style to get rid of as well. Some items I really paid close attention to were...

Sunglasses... Are they out of style or scratched on the lens?

Denim... Do I have a well fitting, classic pair of denim I can dress up or down?

Sandals... something that gets a ton of wear each year, I always love to get a new pair before the weather gets too warm!

Tunic... Do I have something easy to throw over a swim suit or add a cute wedge to? The go to piece for the entire summer?

The Perfect T... This can be everything! Once you find that tee that fits like a glove, that you want to wear all the time you should stock up. I have been on the look out to add more and keep looking for that perfect one!

Loving this dip dye/ombre trend! Cant wait to wear this with some cutoffs and some delicate layered jewelry!

A silky tunic with an embroidered pattern! A throw on with sandals and go type of piece thats great for warm weather!

A lightweight sweater with a little studded detail. Will go with nearly anything in my closet!

While shopping I focused my attention at H&M. This particular locating in Mission Viejo is one of my favorites because it is huge, clean and organized and has everything from womens, mens, kinds, lounge and jewelry! They had tons of great inexpensive, distressed denim (which I am loving right now!). They have their Organic Cotton line which feels so great and soft on and they have great on trend accessories.

I also really love the Nordstrom at this location! The girls at the BP section are so nice and they had a ton of flowing midis, maxis, high lows and whatever else kind of skirt you would be looking for in all of Springs best colors! I also love their selection of Free People as well, they have some items I dont always see at my local store!

My new favorite thing are wide legged, lightweight and casual printed pants. They have a super easy chic, bohemian vibe and they are perfect for a warm day! I seriously cant get enough. They are perfect with a loose tank on the weekend or dressed up with a crisp white tee or chambray during the week.

I wore this for a late lunch in Laguna on Saturday. Nothing like some chips and salsa and a cold beer by the beach after a long morning of yard sale-ing! PS- I have been working on my tan! Can you tell?

Desert Love

Now that Coachella has come and gone I thought it was fitting to share about our girls trip we took to the Desert last month. My best friend, Rachel and I had both been working like crazy so it was a perfect time to pack our bags and go!

We stayed at the Saguaro (you can read about my first stay here) and I continue to love every minute of being at that hotel! It is so clean, bright, and fun... it is the best environment for a quick getaway. I mean, look at that view!

They upgraded our room (perks of traveling on a Wednesday I bet!) and we had a great view overlooking the pool and gorgeous mountains. They even brought us wine to our room when we arrived!

We had total girl time and it was so fun. I just love a good meal, a good friend and some sunshine! We spent our days at the hotel and our evenings in town going out to eat and hitting up the local farmers market/art walk.

The hotel itself is just so fun to be at, its easy to spend most of your time there! Great tunes out by the pool, a cute bar, and you can get lunch served to your lounge chair. I think we spent almost 4 hours here one day!

Another favorite spot is Kings Highway at the ACE Hotel. They have delicious food! We headed over there and had breakfast out by the pool. Cheddar and thyme hash browns... need I say more?!

Love the ACE, but my heart is at The Saguaro! If you haven't been, its a perfect weekend getaway! Palm Springs has ultimately become this beach girls favorite vacation spot by far!

Transition

So, recently I got a promotion at my job.

I love it. Honestly, but I am busy! So busy! I work a bunch, and I love being there.

But I am also sooooo tired!

Now between work, life, and squeezing in some fun, is this little thing called my blog.

For awhile now I have been feeling a little disconnected from it. I get inspired to do something, but then I cant keep it up. And honestly, I am not parading around in stilettos and pencil skirts everyday. My look has changed tremendously since I started at Anthro, and I like it. But it might be boring for you guys to see more photos of skinny jeans and boots...

So this is my post of truth.

I dont have the time to blog anymore. And lately, I haven't found anything to be blog-worthy. So to be fair to both you and I we are going to transition this blog a bit. As for Sponsors, I will no longer be taking them. I just don't have the time to dedicate to it. You might see some sponsored POSTS or GIVEAWAYS still, but no ads, no expectations.

As for posting. I still want to post! When I HAVE something to share. I don't want to share because I feel obligated, I have been battling with this for awhile now. When I am wearing something cool, ill post it. If we do something fun, ill share it! I still have some stuff on the books but expect less. But it will also be more me, and I am happy for that. I want to enjoy my free time and hopefully better quality posts will come from that!

And as we announced yesterday, that was our last Life Lately linkup. For me, it was just hard to compile a post on one specific day over and over. It might come back one day, but at least for now its over.

So I am taking the week off, and I will be back and better for you guys soon!

Everyday Style >>> Turquoise

I have been loving chunky, bold and gold statement jewelry for as long as I can remember. Lately, I have been obsessed with dainty, silver and turquoise! I think its fun to stack a ton of little rings or having a few statement rings on each hand. Forget the arm party, its all about a ring party!

Well obviously, I have a new shiny ring on my ring finger so that has become a staple in my everyday look! I got this vintage piece on my middle finger from my mom and I love it a ton. I love that it is a little tarnished and has character! The skinny tear drop ring is from SD Jewelry on Etsy and I love that it makes a statement, but is so dainty!

Though I don't wear that big rock everyday, I picked it up at Topshop and I love how it has a greenish turquoise stone, and great metal work! I try to wear this on its own because it is such a big statement. The little gold one has an "L" for Lewis and I love it. Its inexpensive and from Urban Outfitters but it reminds me of my sweet puppy so I love it. The other piece on my ring finger isn't vintage, but was a gift to my mom that she gifted to me, and I love how it also has the braided metal.

And recently I added this to my look! This was my moms decades ago and we got it cleaned up and she gave it to me and I love it! Real silver and turquoise, its the best! I love wearing pieces that have some history or a story to them.

Life Lately V2.8

So in the last week or so...

... I went darker! And I am loooooving it!

... My dear friend Dayna opened her own boutique in Long Beach and it is AMAZE! I am going to post all about it soon!

... I got to go on a date night with this cute Fiancé. (I asked him right now how to spell Fiancé and he responded B-E-Y-O-N-C-E... HAHAHAHA!)

... Had Happy Hour wine and pizzas with my best friend after a long, long work week!

... Got to take my parents to one of my favorite lunch spots, Shake Shack!

... I have been loving my days off! Sometimes its fun to just grab a coffee and wander around with no real plan or schedule.

... Went to a Baseball game opening week! go Angels!

... Have been loving the warm spring weather and longer light, and this one loves all of the extra time outside!

... Took a nice Sunday drive down PCH and wandered around the Dana Point Harbor. Sometimes sleepy, slow, Sundays are perfect for the soul.

Today I am starting a new feature on my blog I am very excited about called Everyday Style! Basically, I am going to share my favorite everyday items, looks, products... you name it! Today we are starting the feature off with an item that I think every girl should own....

The Ankle Boot!

I think everyone should have a few pairs of these in their closet (or like me, way too many) because they go with just about anything! I wear mine under maxi skirts, with short dresses, skinny jeans and boyfriend styles... you name it, i've done it! Let it be known, I have never been a heel girl so a cute little boot is perfect for me and my style.

I was introduced to the Petty Boot from Sam Edelman by some girls at work. Great colors, perfect heel height, and uber comfortable! I can wear these for 8 hours at work. I have even worn them to Disneyland, people! I prefer to get mine from Urban Outfitters or Nordstrom, but if you google you can usually find a good online deal, too. I started with the tan and have nearly worn them out so I picked up the black pair as well!

It is great to able to wear the more neutral colors with almost everything in my closet, but I decided to splurge and pick up the python print pair as well. These boots are the epitome of "cool" in my eyes! I cant wait to wear them!

If you haven't tried these out yet I think you should do yourself a favor and try them on soon!

I picked up this slip while in Las Vegas from the Free People out there to wear under a specific dress but it didnt work out the way I wanted it so I decided to wear it as an outer layer instead! I layered it over some super skinny jeans and a loose fitting cropped sweater. All day everyone kept asking me if it was attached and where I got it but little did they know, it was just a slip! Im excited to try this piece in some other ways as well, I just don't know how else to style it!

Life Lately V2.7

So..... this happened!

I am going to keep this short and sweet but yup, after a nice dinner with just the two of us on Saturday night we came home and the boy asked if we finally wanted to get hitched! We pretty much already feel married so not much is changing but it will be nice to have a simple wedding and make it official! So yeah, work has been busy for the both of us and we have been working on plans for a new deck in our backyard but other then that... nothing much else too terribly exciting!

I know it may be Thursday and I am reveling in the goodness that was last weekend, but let me tell you... when you work retail, weekends off are rare. Like a little 48 hour blip of non stop happiness! Somehow, someway I was graced a Saturday and Sunday off and I went with it. We did breakfast, took the crazy weekend outing to Costco, got our house in tip top shape, owned 5 loads of laundry and fit in some naps and fun as well.

I love weekends.

I have been obsessed with Free People lately. Like, real obsessed. I probably have over $1000 worth of flowing, lacy clothes in my cart right now! Something about their style to me just screams summer so the minute the weather got warmer I have been on their website constantly.

This little sweater I picked up at the boutique in Las Vegas at the Fashion Show Mall and the girls there were so LOVELY. I couldn't leave empty handed! I love that this is a really funky baseball tee style. It was still a bit chilly so this was the perfect thing to pick up. Add it to my fave boots and some skinny jeans, and I am a happy gal.

Textbooks and Smiles

I wanted to take a quick little moment to address the Google Reader shenanigans I have been reading about lately. But before I do, I want to thank ALL of you who heard the announcement Reader will be leaving us and hopped over to Bloglovin' to follow me! I got email after email letting me know you all signed up to follow me there and it warmed my heart!

Google Reader has been my go to way to follow the blogs I love to read on a daily basis. With Google announcing Reader will be leaving there is speculation that Google Friend Connect is leaving us as well. While I don't know for sure... that gives me mixed feelings. GFC has always been the way to register how "popular" of an audience a blog has. I STILL get excited when I see those numbers grow. I have worked hard for every single follower that is there and I have felt so blessed anytime anyone signed up!

But you know what? I also feel a sense of freedom if it does disappear. If I don't post for a few days, I have this weight on my shoulders that 1400 of you will be disappointed! And don't even get me started when people unfollow... i'm like "why don't they like me!?" Dumb, I know, but if you blog you know you notice it too!

I realized I started this blog as my creative outlet, with the thought I could run it as a small little business for myself. But my life has changed, my creativity is being used elsewhere and my time is just jam packed with other things! I want to blog because I want to blog, not because other people are expecting me to.

Im trying to get back in the swing of taking outfit photos and posting again. I realized, it used to be so easy because this was my creative outlet. Now, my work is my creative outlet so this sometimes doesn't get the attention it deserves so I am working on changing that! Bare with me if I don't post every single day, I would rather have quality over quantity.

I love this little white dress. Thank goodness for the Zara sale, I always score amazing finds there for next to nothing. I wore this look almost a month ago and never got around to posting these photos. I liked the play on texture instead of color with this look. I wish it did have a pop of something, I just didnt know what it should be! A necklace? A belt? Oh well, that is what is good about documenting these looks I guess!

Spring Style Picks

A few weeks ago the Simon Mall Group sent me over to The Shops at Mission Viejo to check out their selection of stores and find some of my favorite picks for Spring Fashion!

Armed with a gift card and an open mind, I checked out stores like Lucky, Nordstrom, GAP, Zara, and Fossil! I was attracted to these stores this season automatically because of their vibrant and colorful clothes calling my name and begging to come home with me! Wanna see what made the cut? See below!

Colorful denim really took off last year, but I feel like it is back this year with a vengeance. You can get them in any style these days from cropped to straight leg to ultra skinny and in just about any shade you can think of! I loved the rainbow of denim on display at the Fossil store. It made it easy to see their selection and imagine all the options!

Over at Zara I kept seeing the combination of coral and army green and it was really speaking to me! I loved this striking combo together in vibrant prints or just in solids! I loved the mix in of an army print or a graphic that still kept in the same color family! These pieces are so versatile and can be remixed in the warmer and even colder months!

Another thing I spotted at Zara, Nordstrom, and all over was soft and girly white tees with sweet little embellishments. It could have been a little embroidery, a bit of crochet, or even a cute flouncy hem or ruffle, I spotted it everywhere and in all styles, sizes and prices! Nothing says the weather is getting warmer then wearing white on a sunny Spring day!

Again, I am forever loving scarves. These ones spotted at H&M were long, a little worn in looking and came in great prints that you could wear with just about anything! I loved that they were a bit heavier cotton that would keep you warm and could also double as an impromptu blanket if you had to go to a spontaneous picnic!!

Personally, I think that a GREAT pair of sunglasses should be pretty much be your go to accessory all year long but especially when the days get longer and that sun stays out!! I decided to splurge over at Nordstrom in their Designer Sunglasses section to check out some styles I have been looking for forever! Two classics that you just cant go wrong with are a Wayfarer or an Aviator. I loved this pair from Kate Spade (she makes killer sunnies!) and these super classic Ray Bans! So what do you think I ended up getting?

Life Lately V2.6

This past week has been a whirlwind! Between getting back from Las Vegas, and lots of work I managed to squeeze in a girls trip with my Best Friend to Palm Springs! Ill post more about it later in the week, but I will basically say that I think I am becoming a desert rat! We had such a good time!

This little guy is the best part about being home. Since I have been gone so much, I have been savoring moments at home snuggled on the couch with him and the boy. Its so cute, any time I sit down with a blanket I automatically have a puppy in my lap and getting anything done goes completely out the window!

Ive been living out of my luggage lately, at least my luggage is cute!

Then at the end of the week Geoff finally got to pick up his new car! It's a FRS. Its pretty sporty and fast, I literally feel car sick when we drive in it, but its getting better! I am glad he is happy and finally got this new treat, he deserves it!

I mean... does it get any better then this?

Viva Las Vegas

Im Baaack! I just got back from Vegas on Monday afternoon and I am turning around to head to Palm Springs for a girls trip on Wednesday! But I wanted to check in and share how my trip went with you all. Oh, and if you haven't seen already... there is a really awesome Giveaway going on the blog right now!

So we stayed at the Planet Hollywood which I love/hate. For one it has shopping and good restaurants and a pretty fun casino floor and it is located really perfectly on the Strip. But on the downside, the rooms are crappy! This is our second stay there and both rooms have just not been that great, not to mention that casino is super smokey... like after 24 hours in Vegas I always feel like I am sick, but it is just awful allergies!

Highlights of the trip:

- Winning a nice jackpot on a penny machine (but then putting it alllll back in).

- Seeing Vicky from OC Housewives, some kids from Real World, and the guy who plays Mike Chang on Glee and the best... we saw Ice T and CoCo's dogs getting walked around the valet area by a dog walker! Haha so cute.

- Ate at Margaritaville, Gordon Ramsay BURGR and the Hofbrahaus. If you have never got ot the Hofbrahaus you should! Its huge beers, good food, a crazy oompah band and grown men taking Jager shots and getting spanked (for real!)... it was great!

- Visiting Fashion Show Mall... love Topshop and it is one of my favorite stops to shop at! I got that amazing ring (pictured) and a few goodies at Free People.

- Had good seats at the race, and TRD actually ended up winning the race! Such a good feeling to get a win when we are there!! Do any of you follow Nascar? Which drivers are you a fan of?

And the best highlight of the trip was finally getting to come back home to my house and my sweet puppy! I realized I am so happy and content with the life we built, I get a bit homesick when I leave it! Now off to the desert, again!
