Boeing plans to start assembling the first B777F in early 2008. It has 88 of the type on order from 11 customers.

Air India Express sticks with B737

After the Alliance Air (ATR42/CRJ/B737-200 operator) is folded into Air India Express the airline will only operate the B737-800. It is believed the ATR/CRJ and B737-200 fleet will be operated by Air India.

EASA approves the GP7200 powered A380

EASA has certified the A380/GP7200 aircraft one year after the A380/Trent approval.

MTU strengthens PWA program involvement.

MTU Aero Engines has been cleared to take a stake in several Pratt & Whitney programs including a 15% share in the geared turbofan (GTF) to be fitted to the Mitsubishi Regional Jet.

AWAS places large Boeing order

Asiana is expected to announce widebody order

Korea’s Asiana Airlines could announce an order for between 100-150 widebodied aircraft in 1Q/08.

Honeywell win SIA MRO deal

Honeywell have announced a 14 year MRO deal to support avionics equipment fitted the SIA fleet of 19 A380 aircraft.

Messier-Dowty wins A350 supply contract

Messier-Dowty has been selected to supply the main landing gear for theA350 XWB. Deliveries will begin in 2011.

Jet Airways firms A330 options

India’s Jet Airways has firmed five options for the A330-200, bringing the total on order to 15.

CAL to order A350-900s

China Airlines is to order 20 A350XWBs for delivery between 2015 and 2020. The Trent XWB will power the fleet.

Saudi Arabian firms up A320 order

Saudi Arabian Airlines has firmed up its tentative agreement for 22 A320s. No engine selection was announced.

IAE wins US Airways order

US Airways has selected the V2500 to power up to 153 A320’s it has on order.

CAL still evaluating A380/B747-8

China Airlines is still evaluating the A380 and B747-8, it expects to announce an order for one of the type in the near future.

SRT wins Vietnam MRO deal

SR Technics has been awarded the MRO contract to support the PW 4168 engines fitted to Vietnam Airlines fleet of three A330-200s.

Shanghai Airlines selects Boeing

Shanghai Airlines has selected Boeing to perform B767F conversions, the work will be carried out by the new J/V operation between the companies.

Tiger looks for Australian expansion

Tiger Airways will open a second base in 2008. It currently operated from Melbourne and is considering Cairns, Adelaide, Perth or Newcastle as a second base.

Wizz sell/leaseback A320s

Wizz Air has sold six A320s to GECAS and leased them back for 11 years.

Saudi Arabian Airlines is looking to sell its fleet of 29 MD90’s, 9 B747-300 and 5 B747-100’s. It recently announced an order for 50 A320’s.

Berjaya orders ATR’s

Malaysian regional carrier Berjaya Air has ordered four ATR 72-500’s, the aircraft will be delivered in 2009 and 2010.

Hungary to be Sukhoi Superjet MRO center

The governments of Russia and Hungary have agreed to set up a Sukhoi Superjet 100 MRO center in Budapest

Record aircraft orders.

At the end of November Boeing had booked 1,154 orders versus 1,204 by Airbus.

GOL fleet expansion

Brazilian operator GOL will take delivery of 11 B737-800’s and 6 B767-300’s in the fourth quarter, bringing its fleet to 119 aircraft.

GE/SKF announce J/V

GE Aviation and SKF have announced a bearing manufacturing/repair Joint Venture called Venture Aerobearings. It will be located in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Boeing to decide on 737 replacement

Boeing will make a decision within 18 months on its B737 replacement program.

SaM146 makes first test flight

The SaM146 powerplant to power the Sukhoi Superjet 100 made its first flight fitted to an IL 76 test aircraft.

Nationwide close to resuming flights

South African Nationwide Airlines, grounded after an engine fell off a B737, is close to resume flights after agreeing to subcontract its MRO activities to Safair.

Cathay orders A330’s

Cathay Pacific has ordered eight A330-300’s for delivery between 2010 and 2012. The aircraft will be powered by Trent 700’s.

Air Berlin takes B787’s

Air Berlin is to lease three B787’s from ILFC on a 12 year lease term. Air Berlin have orders for 25 of the type.

Kalitta to acquire ten B747’s from JAL

Kalitta Air is to acquire ten B747-400 freighters from Japan Airlines. The first aircraft will be delivered in May 2009.

El Al to acquire a B747-400

El Al is to acquire a second hand B747-400 for delivery in November 2008, it is believed to be an ex Singapore Airlines aircraft.

El Al orders more B737’s

El Al is to order four B737-800’s as part of the airlines strategic El Al 2010 business plan.

Cathay/Air China to start cargo carrier

Cathay pacific and Air China are planning to co-operate in starting a joint venture cargo airline based in Shanghai. No launch date has been announced.

Southwest expands Dallas MRO

Southwest Airlines has opened a fifth hangar at its Dallas Love Field base.

AMR looks to divest MRO activities

American Airlines is reviewing the viability of selling off its MRO activities. It currently operates major operations in Tulsa and Fort Worth.

Shenzhen signs MRO deal

Shenzhen Airlines has signed a 10 year A320 component support deal with Lufthansa Technik.

Silverjet to acquire more B767’s

UK premium operator Silverjet is to acquire two B767ER’s from UK carrier Thompsonfly. Delivery will be in March 08.

Lion Air takes more B737’s

Indonesia’s Lion Air has ordered another 22 B737-900Er’s lifting its firm orders for the type to 122.

Skybus takes first CFM 56-5B tech insertion engine

US budget carrier has taken delivery of the first A320 powered by the CFM56-5B Tech Insertion engine. The engine lowers NOx emissions by 25%, improves fuel consumption by 1% and decreases Co2 emissions by 200 tons per aircraft year.

NCA to retire B747-200’s

Japans NCA Cargo is to retire its five B747-200/CF6 powered aircraft by March 2008.

Hawaiian Airlines has signed an MoU for six A350-800’s and six A330-200’s, both will be Trent powered. The aircraft will replace its fleet of B767 aircraft.

Air Astana to make fleet decision in January

Kazakh operator Air Astana is to select up to nine long haul aircraft and nine A320’s in January 2008.

SIA signs Total Care Agreement

Singapore Airlines has signed a Total Care Agreement with Rolls Royce to support its fleet of Trent 900’s fitted to the first 10 aircraft to be delivered. SIA have a further 9 of the type on order.

Bombardier to step up production

Bombardier delivered 90 aircraft, 57 business and 33 regional aircraft, in 3Q. It plans to step up its CRJ production in 2008.

STA starts modification work.

ST Aerospace has started its first B767-300BCF conversion for All Nippon Airways, the airline will convert seven of the type. The aircraft will be redelivered to ANA in June 2008.

Airbus sign China manufacturing agreement

Airbus and AVIC II have signed an agreement for A350 composite manufacturing support. 5% of the total airframe manufacturing will be performed in China, mostly at a dedicated J/V facility in north-east China.

LAN selects Goodrich

Chile’s LAN Airlines has selected Goodrich to provide MRO services for its fleet of V2500 Fan Cowls and Inlet Cowls.

Ocean Air to take Airbus aircraft

Brazilian carrier Ocean Air is to take 21 A320s and 7 A330s as part of its parent company, Synergy Group, order earlier this year. Colombian operator Avianca is part of the group.

Ethiopian adds B747F

Ethiopian Airlines is to add two B747-200F/CF6 aircraft on wet lease from Southern Air. It will begin freight operations to Hong Kong in January.

RR to start engine assembly in Singapore.

Rolls Royce will start to assemble the Trent 1000 and Trent XWB engines in Singapore. The purpose build facility in Seletar will be fully operational in 2009 and will employ 330 people.

Hainan Airlines has received its first of seven A330’s. It will use the aircraft on China to USA routes.

McKechnie sold

McKechnie Aerospace has been sold to private equity house JLL for $857m. McKechnie has 11 operating companies.

AFI wins CFM contract

Air France Industries has been awarded a multi year contract to support Nouvelair’s fleet of CFM 56-%A/B engines. The agreement covers 25 shop visits.

Aerolineas Argentina cancels A340 order

Aerolineas Argentina has officially cancelled it order for six A340-600 aircraft.

Airbus expects 1200 orders in 2007

Airbus announced 163 new orders at the Dubai Airshow and now expects to book over 1200 in 2007.

Adria orders CRJ’s

Slovenian carrier Adria Airways has ordered a CRJ 1000 and two CRJ900’s, delivery will be in 2008.

Air India looks for more lease aircraft.

Air India is looking to lease both narrow and wide bodied aircraft prior to the delivery of irs recently announced fleet expansion orders.

Qantas announces mega order.

Qantas has ordered 188 narrowbodied aircraft from Airbus (68 x A320/321 plus 40 options) and Boeing (31 x B737-800’s plus 49 options). The Airbus fleet will be delivered from 2008 with the B737 deliveries starting in 2009. The A320/A321’s will be powered by the V2500.

Aer Lingus firm up A350 order

Aer Lingus has firmed up its order for six A350-900’s along with six A330-300’s. The Trent XWB is the only powerplant available for the A350, the CF6-80E is fitted to the current Aer Lingus A330 fleet.

BOC concludes Skybus deal.

Ohio based LCC Skybus has signed a deal for the lease/financing of 13 new A319’s due for delivery in 2009 and 2010.

Frontier to open Colorado Springs MRO base.

Frontier Airlines is to open a new 100,000 sq ft maintenance facility in Colorado Springs. The facility will be open in mid 2009.

Boeing delays B747-8F roll out

Boeing has delayed the roll out of the first B747-8F by 3 months, it will now happen in Feb 2009. The delivery of the first aircraft to Cargolux is not expected to be delayed.

Jazz looks at SAS Q400 fleet.

Canadian Jazz Air is considering purchasing the recently grounded SAS fleet of Bombardier Q400’s.

Virgin Nigeria has ordered seven ERJ 170’s and three ERJ 190’s. deliveries will begin in 3Q/08.

Flight trails for SaM146

On wing trails of the SaMi46 engine will take place this week, it will be fitted to a modified IL 76 test bed. Flight will be carried out in Russia and France.

AirBridge takes first B747-400ERF

AirBridge Cargo has taken delivery of its first B747-400ERF, it is leased from GECAS. AirBridge has five B747-8F’s on order.

ADAT wins MRO contract

Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT, formerly GAMCO) has been awarded a $500m contract to support Etihad Airways fleet of A340, A330 and B777’s.

Aeromar orders ATR’s

Mexican carrier Aeromar has signed an MoU to purchase two ATR 72-500’s.

Continental to start Heathrow flights

Continental will begin flights to Heathrow starting in march 2008. It will operate two daily flights from Houston and New York Newark.

Sama starts UAE charter service.

Saudi Arabian LCC Sama has established a charter operation out of Dubai, it has stationed a B737-300 in Dubai.

Thai order to be announced before year end.

Thai Airways International is expected to announce an order for up to 65 new aircraft before the end of the year. It is considering the B747-8/A380, B787/A350 and the B737/A320.

A340-600 incident.

An A340-600 was involved in a ground incident at Toulouse yesterday. The aircraft was on test prior to delivery to Etihad Airways. Five people were injured and the aircraft maybe written off.

Cathay to acquire more Airbuses

Kuwaiti LCC Jazeera Airways has signed a 10 year deal with Lufthansa Technik to support its A320/CFM56 Thrust Reverser activities. The work will be performed at the LHT Hamburg facilities.
Kuwaiti lessor ALAFCO has selected the GEnx to power its order for 22 B787’s.
Gulf Air will renew its entire fleet, it expects to announce orders within the next month for up to 35 aircraft.
UAE freight operator Maximus Air Cargo has selected LHT to provide component support for its A300-600 fleet

Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium has selected Sabena Technics to provide line and light maintenance support. The deal is for 3 years.

ST Aero secures MRO work from Delta

ST Aero has been awarded 3 contracts, valued at $160m, to perform modification work on Delta’s fleet of B757 and B767 aircraft. The work will be carried out at the San Antonio and Mobile, Alabama facilities.

China Northeast starts flying

China Northeast Airlines has started operations from its Shenyang base. It operates 3 A319’s and two ERJ 145’s, on lease from its owner/partner Sichuan Airlines.

Horizon to simplify fleet

Horizon Air is to operate a one aircraft type fleet within 3 years. It currently operates Dash 8 (8), Q400 (48) and the CRJ700 (20)

Delta/Chromalloy PMA Partnership

Delta TechOps and Chromalloy have announced a partnership to develop PMA’s for the CFM 56-5 and -7B engines. The 10 year deal is valued at $1bn. Additionally Delta will perform 250 engine overhauls for Chromalloy.

Cathay orders 17 Boeing aircraft

Cathay Pacific has placed an order for 10 B747-8F (GEnx) and 7 B777-300ER’s (GE 90-115). The order also includes the purchase rights for a further 14 B747-8F aircraft.

MASWings signs ATR MoU

MAS has signed a MoU for the purchase of 10 ATR72-500’s with a further 5 options. The aircraft will be operated by its subsidiary MASWings.

SAS to acquire an additional A340

SAS will purchase an additional A340 as it starts services to Delhi and San Francisco in 2008.

SunExpress selects P&W

Turkish operator SunExpress has selected P&W to support its PW2037 engines fitted to its fleet of 5 B757-200 aircraft. The 5 year deal is valued at $20m.

Airbus plan A350F

The A350 XWB freighter will offer similar payloads as the successful MD11F. The aircraft is due to enter service in 2013.

AirUnion to lease B787’s

Russian operator, AirUnion is in talks with Boeing to lease up to 6 B787’s, it expects to receive the first aircraft in 2013.

Goodrich wins first 737NG Carbon Brake order

Indonesia’s Lion Air has ordered the Goodrich Wheel and Carbon Brake to be fitted to its fleet of 100 B737-900 aircraft.

Air Dolomiti selects Avio for PW100 support

Italian regional carrier has selected Avio for a 5 year PW100 support package. The deal covers its fleet of 11 ATR aircraft.

ILFC select Trent XWB

ILFC has selected the Trent XWB to power an additional 16 A350XWB aircraft. The order brings the number of ILFC A350’s to be powered by the Trent to 70 aircraft.

Abu Dhabi MRO provider GAMCO is to be renamed as Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies. Its owners, Mubadala, have also announced aggressive expansion plans for the new company.

LOT to separate maintenance activity

Polish operator LOT has decided to separate its maintenance operations into a separate business center.

Jett8 expansion

Singapore freight carrier Jett8 is to receive its second, ex Nippon Cargo Airlines, F747-200F and is looking to lease two B747-400F aircraft.

LAN to acquire 777F’s

LAN Cargo has acquired 4 B777F’s, two will be purchased with a further two aircraft leased from GECAS.

Kuwaiti lessor ALAFCO has ordered seven A320’s and announced they will be leased to Pakistan International. No engine selection was announced.

New Turkish MRO

Goodrich and Turkish Airlines are to enter a J/V to overhaul Engine Nacelles in Istanbul, Turkey. It expects to be operational by April 2009.

P&W Finalize PMA Parts Testing

Pratt & Whitney will finalize its CFM 56-3 PMA validation testing on 19 critical parts within the next few weeks. United Airlines, Jet2 and an undisclosed Chinese airline will be the launch customers.

Air Transat Fleet Renewal

Canadian carrier Air Transat is considering both the A350 and the B787 as part of its 5 year fleet renewal program.

Emirates Rules Out A380F Order

Emirates have ruled out any future orders for the A380 Freighter. In 2006, Emirates cancelled its order for two of the type.

Kingfisher to Sell A320’s

With the majority ownership in Air Deccan confirmed, Kingfisher have concluded that they have too many aircraft on order and will sell some of their A320 delivery slots.

ANA Selects STA

All Nippon Airways have selected ST Aerospace to maintain its fleet of A320 aircraft. The work will be performed at the Shanghai STARCO facility.

Royal Jordanian Airlines is to lease a B737-200F to expand its cargo network in the region.

El Al to Start Domestic Flights

El Al is to start operations between Tel Aviv and the Red Sea resort of Eilat. It will use a B737.

Scottish LCC, Flyglobespan, has had its EROPS approvals for B737/B757 and B767 operations restored by the UK CAA.

Martinair Likes Engine Washing Program

Air Asia X Launches Services

An A330-300 operated the first Air Asia X flight on Friday from Kuala Lumpur to the Gold Coast, Australia. It will expand it route structure to China and the UK via the Middle East as aircraft become available.
