This is why you want to start out at around 30% saving because you also will need to split that saving per month between these other categories.

Debt elimination: List all of your current credit cards & get them switch to the lowest interest rate you can find, consolidate if possible. But, beware you may trade lower rates for longer pay outs.

* Eliminate credit card usage if at all possible. *

-- Using a debit card instead of a credit card gives you all the convenience of a credit card but withdraws money immediately from your checking account, so that you do not keep digging yourself a hole.

I was recently ask a series of questions from one of my Facebook group member. He is considering Network marketing as a way to generate extra income as he faces retirement after 30 years in the workforce.

I was humbled, when he inquired that he had read a few of my posts and articles. Feeling that I had a "wealth of knowledge" for which he could pull from.

In reflection, as I replied to him, that I have been doing this online networking for over 15+ yrs. That I am in fact, NO guru nor marketing sensation. Yet, what I can offer, are facts, hard knocked real world experiences in an industry that is some what saturated and can be misleading. Yet, one can create a worth while income if one is serious about their ultimate goal........to network using the internet to generate an extra income source.

I have also re-published a couple of articles from a few years back to include along side this post. I have title them "Back to the Basic Series" that follows. Tagged below:

Back To The Basic Series: What Is SEO.....Search Engine Optimization?

I would like to start this article with this proven reality. There are many many roads that you can and will travel down in your pursuit of success in this industry. Whether you travel by MLM (multi-level-marketing), direct-sales and/or affiliate/referral marketing. The methods for which you will acquire your brand/name recognition, generate leads and the product and services you choice to associate with will require effort. Nothing ever in my life have I done, wanted or that was worthwhile.......came easy or without setbacks, disappointments and failures. POINT BLANK!

This is life's law, and when it comes to money, there is plenty of it out there in the world for sure. But no-one, no-one is just going to give it to you nor will it come instantly. Keep that within your common view points as you journey along your ventures.

As you will find out as you read on, I will be honest, yet simple. In the last few years, a fav. quote of mine has been just that "simplicity is simple". As with many of life's episodes, difficulties generally become even more challenging when they are dealt with negatively or with complexity.

"LIFE is really not that complicated (especially now, in our modern age state), humans just make it that way!"

To start off with, my last 3-5 post/articles are re-prints from 2009 - 2011. I'm republishing them as they not only apply to my current projects, yet are taken it back to the basics. Again, keeping it simple.

Once your foundation is secured, all other endeavors can now be built upon this infrastructure. So please indulge yourselves in my previous articles after you have read my reply to my fellow colleague.

QUESTIONS ASKED:

Who is your target market ?? How do you promote your service?? What are the most effective channels of communication?? What are your biggest challenges and your biggest success?? Would you change anything that you have , looking back ??

I will be as straight forward and honest..........as that would be my best advice.

Be honest, always be upfront & truthful. Because this will have a direct effect on what I feel is the most important aspect of your business/company..........
Your name aka your "Brand"!

Below are the stages I went through in the transformation of my logo and image. I started this journey for him, my son.....my why!
(WE) would always remind me that it wasn't just about the WEalth, but WE (Him & ME!). As the times of trials and life's tribulations arose, it would also become my motivation. To never forget why I began this quest.

For me, my tactic/strategy was whether straight forward. Wehit has been in circulation for a few years now. The thought process into the name stems from people who are always interested in wealth building, health & wellness. Which is the #1 product for online marketer, plus it was actually what I started out marketing. I was with a company called "Legacy For Life" which is something like i26 now. Of course, the internet and technology is everywhere. Wealth Health & Internet Technology acronym for WE.H.I.T. Along side the fact, I wanted us (WE, my son & I) to hit it big on our own terms.

When you work as hard as you will, put in the insane amounts of time and spend the types of $$$ to acquire clients & consumer. The last thing you want, is to lose him/her over distrust.

As you've seen recently, for example, the Wynn Resorts. A very successful venture for all these years. Then wham! A bad practice, lie or of course, the mistreatment of your employee, client or customer. Everything you worked for is swept from underneath you within a blink of an eye.

For years his brand will be tarnished. (I believe they are selling the brand resorts) With the #metoo movement in full swing. Yea.....probably the best business move.

But if you were a little mom & pop business your brands reputation would be a bit more costly, even devastating.
So yes, always treat everyone you come in contact with the utmost respect. As you will see later on, longtime clients/consumer relationship may become long time friendship relationship.

The Internet can be unforgiving

When people see your name, brand, logo or anything that you are associated with. You want something "positive" to be the first thing that comes to their mind.

DONE FOR YOU SALES FUNNEL

I guess the next question I'll tackle real quick would be, would I change anything hindsight?

You know, we all in hindsight can be assured this rosy path to our goals and successful outcome of our ventures. If only we did this or changed that. Fact is, life doesn't work like that. We live and we learn. We apply, we do and we respond to the re-actions of our actions.

Internet marketing, just as most businesses is a funny business. When I first made the conscious decision to pursue online marketing as a way to make an income........I was working in the prison system, running a mobile D.J. business, doing music production work, on call for a moving company (Mayflower). After my daughters wedding, I found out I was going to be a dad again. (I have two older children from a previous relationship that had ended several years earlier.)

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM CAR?

I stayed busy......what I learn before about raising children is they grow up fast. As much as I tried to be in my two oldest life, when you looking at them at 20ish, you still question yourself. Wondering, could I have been there more? Looking at two grown people that you watched morph from tiny babies. Does a little mojo on your psyche. Knowing that I now will be going through this again, what was I going to do this time.

I had some sales experience (Funny thing is I really didn't like sales, remember being honest) I sold computers, TV's but mainly audio equipment. Big screen TV's was the rage, bag (bricks) phones on the raise. Try convincing people to pay $1 - $3 a minute to make a phone call, where you had to be in a certain location because of limited coverage. When a phone booth call cost between 15 & 25 cents.

When I would sale audio, my main gig, due to my background in sound and recording engineering. I knew my equipment pretty well. Yet, we were trained/told to upgrade customers. I always stayed within the top 3 sales leader-board. And I didn't consider myself a salesperson. what I did was sell what people needed. I'd ask them what they plans were, how long they expected to use their equipment. Fill them in on the future of audio & video. In other words, I was educating them along the way. They became my repeat customers.

They would even pay me to come to their homes and set up they equipment. Remember back then, you start talking about left & right channels, Dolby surround sound, center, rear speaker hook-up, syncing Dvd/laser disc players with Cd players and cassette decks to receivers. Well.......most people just want it set and play.

What I'm getting at, when we talk about hindsight, comes from my most important quote ever. I use this a lot........
"Everything Happens for a reason"

You read into the road/path ahead of you and take what was giving to you yesterday and grow with it ~ win or lose! If I was to take even a little something and changed it.......would the message/lesson afforded me or someone else, get to it's destination. Our mistakes are our life's lessons. Some of us need a few knocks to get it right, some get it right off the bat.

As business & entrepreneurs, those mistakes and set-back are what makes you stronger and hopefully grow. I can't change anything hindsight......but I can use what I've learned yesterday to better my path tomorrow. So should you.

Our goals are one big picture puzzle. In our minds we see it. We can plan it out on paper for clarity. Yet, it is when we execute, fall down and get back up, when we appreciate the little gains over the huge setbacks. We put a little piece of that puzzle together. The more pieces we get to collect or learn and apply it the base of the puzzle....... the clearer that puzzle, that picture becomes.

Next I'll cover targeted audience, there's a couple of ways to look at this. Your audience will be determined by your product or service. It's really that simple. Once you've provide the internet a means to finding you.......website/blog. That's where you start on SEO, Search Engine Optimization. Your product/service will determine your keywords and phrases that you will use.

As for products or services, you may come across some that will say concentrate on one product or services. And yes, that's fine. Especially if you are new to this industry. Focus on setting up your brand and establishing SEO. But you will soon fine out.......let me use the following as an example.

Go into any store, restaurant or shop. You will not find any of these places with just one item. You won't go into the grocery store to find just one product, into a restaurant, and only one item on the menu or at service shop, where they offer just one kind of service.

Why then would you spend amazing amount of time and energy building on one item. You want to build for expansion. This is called multi-streams of income. The wealthy use this simple method always.

I'm going to address the two questions on promotions & effective communication channels as one. It will be some what short and sweet. (I think) Establishing your brand, your identity online as your foundation. This will start a domino effect as you apply a multitude of strategies along the way.

First, you will find that there will be an endless sources of marketing materials at your disposal. They will range from free to $1000s. Take your time. Because you first want to figure out what your niche or identifying trait will become. Meaning, what will people come to associate you with.

Build UNLIMITED Affiliate Funnels

As you pin point a direction you want to travel. Keep in mind these thoughts. This will be a long term endeavor. (This is a business, remember to build it as that) You will be able to do most of the work via internet/computer/smartphone.

With that being said, remember you want this to be a passion not a job! So, think about the things you like, what are you comfortable with and what will you want to do consistently that you will have fun doing. Believe me, with all the time & effort necessary in putting your business all together. It is less stressful when you are happy and passionate about it's what you are doing and about it's outcome.

What hobbies do you like, what are you interests? What are your talents, jobs skills? Apply those in your business plan! Yes, internet marketing can have a business plan, this is your future business and income stream. Business plans help you focus on the details that easily get overlooked. When you have these in place.....realize that this leads to your knowledge base. You should be a bit comfy talking, writing and promoting what you know. There is where you will find your target audience. There you will find your avenues to products and/or services to exploit.

As for channels to market. Every place, every outlet and every medium is a potential exposure, client or sales. Money is everywhere. So you must get your brand, product and service to the masses (a narrowed target mass of course). Offline, flyers, talk about what you do to people.

Remember, you should involve yourself with products & services you are passion about.

Things that you like, are interested in or hobbies. All you really are doing then is talking about what you love and oh by the way.......you have a product or service attached to it.

Challenges in internet marketing are establishing your network and capturing quality leads. I said earlier, money is everywhere. Yet, people are hard pressed to come up off of it.

Simply start with what you are comfortable with in terms of the different types of services to use. Your main focus will be the use of "SALES FUNNELS", this will help build your "LIST".

But get solid in the uses of your essentials.........websites, blogs, writing style and the use of social media outlets. Then explore paid services. You will go into them with a much better understanding of their effects and worth.

My biggest success?
.........finding and building relationships. Your business is consumer oriented. You are socializing. Make them apart of your family. On all my different media outlets, the ones that are still around. Stayed around even though they were at one point or another a client/consumer then dropped out or stop buying product. Yet, because of the relationship built, they are still in my circle today.

I still have what are now my personal friends, that were merely online marketer back when I started. So I actually build my friendship base along the way. Some have help me deal with issues as I was raising my son solo. He's a teenager now....and trying to be a grow-up before he really is. "Sign!" And a few have been a blessing because there were times I'd be online or call and have met, talk with him. So he also knows a few of them from when he was like 5 or 6 yrs. old.

Everything happens for a reason........Do what you love, give it 100% and it just works out in some form or another. Again, I haven't made my millions yet......but all that effort, knowledge from the past, it sure is shaping that future! Live & learn.......LIFE of an online marketer!

Back to the basic, in a series of re-prints articles from my yesteryear's as an internet marketer. I'm republishing some of the basic fundamentals of network marketing.

There's a lot of information out there that tends to become mangled, twisted and whether confusing to those just getting into this industry. Hopeful you have read my previous article.........where you can you can get a glimpse of my back ground journey into the world of laptop/smartphone marketing as a home business.

Why my concern to back track on the simplicity?

With some 75+ million baby boomer set to retire over the course of the next 14 years. They are turning 65 years of age at a rate of 10,000 a day. Many, as the latest statistic proclaim, will not have the funds to enjoy a decent retirement. Sighting 45% have no retirement saving at all. Boosting a near 65% having to continue working past the age of 65.

There is technology that is in place, to allow our most popular generation an opportunity to at least work from the comfort of their home after retirement. After decades of punching the clock. And setting the stage for the younger generations. It's time we bring them into the online marketing loop.

I like you to take a moment to picture this scenario. Its Saturday afternoon, you get a called from a friend, telling you about this huge sell down at the mall. Great, you love a good deal. Problem is, they didn't tell you which store had the sell. Malls are filled with many types of stores. Which one do you go to, how will you know where to get this great sell? You walk up & down, looking at all the printed ads in the window. Hundreds of shop to choose from.

Two very important events happened here.....

1) A friend gave you information on a sell -- Word of mouth, networking (marketing) referral marketing

2) Now that you know about this sell, where do you go to get your deal?

The search......! As you pass by store after store, reading the advertisements, eventually you find the right store by what you see & read on outside ads or display racks. It is this very same nature of consumer hearing, seeking out and buying a product/service in a physical store as it would be in your online store.

The most important piece of the puzzle in internet marketing is your web presence. Your web I.D.

The place where consumers thirsty for your information, products and/or services will visit. This also known as "Branding". You create an online brand by building a business presence. Your website will serve as your main online presence and will act as a center point for all of your online promotional efforts. Your website should be distinctive, easy to navigate, and full of useful information.

Think exactly what purpose you want your website to serve. Information, promotions of other businesses, hobbies etc., exactly who your website targets, should have been made little cleaner, defined with your business plan.

No matter how small your company is, if you are selling products or services, it is essential to have a website to reach your customers. Websites do not cost too much to build. Consider your website as a tool for expanding your business and profit. The internet has become inexpensive, fast and the most reliable form of communication in this hi-speed paced world of ours. And having a website, is your store in that huge mall we talked about earlier.

Taking your business on the internet is going to open up an entire new market for you than a physical store, simply because of the vast amount of potential customers you can reach.(one & half billion people are online across the global in 2009 to just over 4 billion user in 2018)

Your website must allow customers to do business with you. People want to do things fast. This world is in a rush, people carry cell phones and laptops, so that they can stay connected. Your website is as powerful marketing tool as newspapers and magazines were in the past. If you want your business to go global, then you definitely need to have a marketing website.

There's very little that can't be sold over the internet. With 10's of millions shoppers now online, purchasing everything from books to computers to cars to real estate to jet planes to natural gas, you name it. If you can imagine it, someone will figure out how to sell it online. Ebay, Amazon and even Walmart to name a few.

Internet marketing research firms predict that the number of online consumers will grow at a rate of 25% to 45% over the next few years. 25% to 45% growth.,,,..you've got to want a piece of that pie!

Consumers now search for information online prior to making a purchase at a brick-and-mortar store, your site may be the first chance you have at making a good impression and capture that sell.

Your website is your store online; so you must have a presence on the internet so consumer can easily find out more about your business and the products/services you have to offer.

Everyone that is in this industry needs a website. Why? Most home-based internet entrepreneurs have what is called a replicated website for that business their in.
You've seen these urls: theircompanycom/yourname

Did you know that these (internet addresses) can not be picked up by search engine spiders. (Programs that constantly crawl the internet - worldwide web collecting information for search engine index.) This is how one is able to locate websites using Google, Bing, Baibu, Duck Duck Go & countless other search engines. Google being the reigning king.

Search engine optimization (SEO) --

Is the art of creating webpages that will make your site easy to find on the internet. One does this by optimizing each page of your site for search engine (Google, Bing etc.,) relevance. Is it related to what you say your site is about.

If your site is about the Ocean, then the web content should mainly, focus on ocean topics. It is important to understand basic search engine optimization. SEO strategies include choosing target search terms (words that people will use/put into a search engine box) that your audience is looking for, creating content that utilizes these search terms, and gaining incoming links to your site (that are related to the theme & search terms of your site aka your business).

There are a number of free online tools, such as the Wordstream Keyword Suggestion Tool and the Google Keyword Tool, that can help you select the best search terms for your website. These are also known as Keywords:

When you optimize your webpages, these pages should rank higher in a search-engine return pages (SERPs). Creating a greater likelihood of traffic (visitors) to your site. This is what you want......constant visitor.

There are several methods and opinions about how a webpage should be optimized, with much of it depending on the type of site, it's content, purpose & competition. But in basic search-engine optimization, it relies strongly on the proper use of keywords and key-phrases that describes your sites content.

The first place keywords should appear is in the TITLE section of the source code. They should also appear in the Meta description. Here it should be described as accurately as possible, repeating the keywords (just a couple of times). Its a good idea for each subsequent pages, to have their own unique keywords listed in they source code. The page title should use one or more of these unique keywords for maximum search-engine optimization.

Since these SEO rely so heavily on keywords, the most important keywords and key-phrases should be used liberally in the first few paragraphs of the content of each page. then sprinkled throughout the body. The last paragraph of every page should be keyword rich, but not over done. There is no solid rule of thumb, research does indicate a comfort keyword density zone between 3%-8%.

Caution should be used when using keywords liberally without becoming repetitive. It can also be helpful to use bold or italics on a keyword or two, but not to excessive.

LIFE: Why Are We Here On Earth?

Probably the single most important question humans can ask. Not just to ourselves, but to anyone for everyone.

I have ask myself this very question…….why am I here?

Isn't that a part of LIFE?

To become strong, stronger.....Would it be unprejudiced for that soul to see that mission through in their lifetime? By virtue of...... Good overcomes evil?

This is in fact, in part, why we are here!

We must first understand that we as human beings haven’t even evolved enough to remotely understand our true purpose. With that being said, “Mister you seem to know it all!"

What do you mean……haven’t evolved enough?

See, we’ve built machines that can fly. Ignite fire at will, produce electricity, talk to someone on the other side of the planet and not be connected to any wires or cables.

Created vehicles that can travel faster than the speed of sound, while others have carried us to nearby planets. Yet, we have not evolved thoroughly !

Those are but a few of the incredible inventions mankind has manufactured. Giving the enormous imagination and intelligence we humans have shown and gifted with. Subsequently, we have to throw in a few interesting “WTF” are we humans doing events.

We have a intelligence like none other on this planet. Capable of love, thinking, to comprehend, to feel compassion and common sense. Still, with the knowledge that “LIFE” itself is it's most ultimate gift bestowed upon us. We humans have not evolved enough to where we do not take it (LIFE) away from someone premeditatedly!

Mankind, for nothing more than material wealth, power or brief fame. Will selfishly terminate a human life soul. And has gone as far as to eliminate entire life forms (endangered & extincted species & plants), even races from their own society. Inventing weapons of mass destruction. We continue to knowingly deplete or contaminate the very world that sustains our well being.

The Crusade, WW1, The 1932 Holodomor, Hitler's holocaust, WW2, Hiroshima, Khmer Rouge of Cambodia, Nanking massacre or the countless tribal cleansing that has continued in the nation of Africa for centuries.

That’s just genocides, what about sex traffic, modern day slavery, child pornography or knowingly allowing extinction of species of every kind.
While the development of all that is good in modern industries, also has created a back draft. We simply have not matured along side technology. Meaning, we have constructed machinery that can out pace our own abilities. Robots and systems that can out think our own capabilities. No, humans have not educed enough to conceive our destiny here on earth.

We humans have forgotten that the true miracle, is LIFE itself, thereby to answer why we are here falls deeply into one trivial classification.........LIVING!

I do however, speculate that IF we ever to evolve before we extinguish the last soul, that we would come to find smartly so, that we were ONLY just a small piece of a much bigger picture.

Yes, there is a more complex version to this narrative. But, remember we are NOT intelligently ample to realize that “Everything happens for a reason”.

As humans tend to think we are the only being in the universe. Life is constantly adapting so that bigger picture is fulfilled.

This destiny that remains to be conquered, will have it’s pieces rearranged many times till it completes the picture as a whole. For now, love and understanding of our true purpose as people must be elevated to it’s most highest level of acceptance.

When we achieve that degree of humanity……..well, we would grasp, we’re here for life and it’s positive energy!

Not material elements nor destruction.

To be perfectly honest, LIFE........is really simple. Especially, in these modern times. WE humans just make it (allow it to be) complicated!

In my last entry, I touched upon the inherent issues that come along with many MLM companies. I'd like to dig a bit deeper. These inbuilt issues when understood, can provide you a bit more intel when you are pursuing a career in MLM as a home business.

Again, I like to add that I am in no way attempting to denounce nor promote MLM. Merely providing facts I can confidently write upon. With a number of years actively participating in this industry under my belt one thing is for sure, I can say its night & someone will see it as day. Yet, in MLM , it's ALL about the numbers & the numbers don't lie.

Tapped Into The Full Potential of Your Brain

How you intake this information can surely be up for debate, but please feel free to reply, comment and discuss said topics.

Realize, that a lot of our societies infrastructure incorporates some form of pyramid like structure.

Lets see.......the military, Army & Air Force, (Generals, Majors, Sgt, etc.,) our government and as I pointed out in my last entry most traditional business models this pyramid structure.

- A typical corporation will have a CEO or President at the top, then their directors, the directors have their managers, and the managers their supervisors, and the supervisors have workers who do the work!

In an traditional supply chain structure it operates like this:

- Manufacturer

- Distributor

- Wholesaler

- Retailer

- Customers

Each step adds expense to the final destination........the consumer!

In Network (Internet) Marketing (MLM) the structure operates like this........

- Manufacturer (supplier)

- Distributors (you)

- Customers (the end user)

These customers, represent a targeted market that you the distributor have to penetrate.

Running your online business so that it becomes profits, is where some MLM companies structure make it nearly impossible to achieve. Why......?

Well, you've heard that famous quote.....
"It's a numbers game"!

You best believe, that it is the numbers needed to stay ahead (profit) that does.......become the issue.

The compensation vs. the consumer vs. the distributors

Simply by the numbers alone:

Let say your business needs to employ/recruit 5 people now that 5 needs to employ 5....and so on and so on!

Years before this original print, I started this journey to work from home. I saw the potential a computer & Internet access could have.

My youngest son was just born. Shortly thereafter, became a single parent Dad. I was even more determined to succeed in this world of Network marketing/MLM (Multi-level-marketing). My passion was there, my "WHY" on point (my child). And as desktops became laptop then tablets. I could picture me at my sons practice or games and not missing a beat when it came to answering messages, working on my latest website/blog or promo, seeing in real time new orders or welcoming new clients.

Yet, even with some success, a few dollars in my pocket here and there. This never quit mentality, that complete picture just seem to eluded me.

See it's not that success couldn't be achieved, there are handfuls of very successful marketer in MLM. Then are those that keep a few dollars in the bank and the rest, well......the rest, live to fight another day.

Several things I have learned along side this print.......

1) You really do need an outstanding product or service

2) You will need to put in work, lots of work.

3) Some companies will fold.

4) There are no over-night successes.....Don't believe the hype!
5) Life events will have their way.

What is the average time your clients STAY with your business?
Are you constantly, replacing clients that dropped out with NEW ones?

I know there are die-hard MLM fans out there, but really, there is a disturbing truth behind this question! And many folks involved in this industry.....know the truth!

In my last entry, I talked about the worth of working from home as an Internet marketer. One word that should stand out is "EFFORT". There are many reason why people fail in this industry.....lack of effort is only one of them.

Why, because most people are "recruited" under the pretense that to make a lot of money, it only require a few hours of work. After a few attempts, a few hours "effort" with little response they are ready to throw in the towel. But MLM type companies have many other issues as well.

Before I begin this article, let me be perfectly clear. This is not an attempt to undermine or put down MLM as a home based business opportunity. I have (in the past) marketed some MLM companies and would most likely (under the right conditions) market some in the future.

*These participation usually pertain to products or services that will benefit your online business!*

Keywords being an actual product and/or service (to an end user)!

TIP: See, what a few marketer in this industry do not understand is that many of the techniques, products & services use to promote MLM type businesses can also be use to build other types of legitimate online business.

However, there are some real facts based on a number of years that I have spent....dealing with, participating in & research of MLM companies over those years.
Once again, this is not an blog that is meant to degrade MLM, but as an aid to those who maybe looking into or wondering why they are not succeeding in their MLM type business.

Let's start, over the years, they are people who have made plenty of money in MLM companies. Truth is, the basis of MLM structure is that of traditional business model. A typical corporation will have a CEO or President at the top, then their directors, the directors have their managers, and the managers have their supervisors, and the supervisors have their foreman's who have workers that do the work!

The structure of MLM is at it's basic.... build upon this platform. I'm not here to discuss in-depth MLM structure. Whether, the inherent facts that are embedded in every MLM!

Some real talk when it comes to marketing MLM companies.

In my first months of marketing online as a real business, meaning that even though I had done some direct sales marketing in the early 90's. I was still wet behind the ears when I became interested in internet marketing. (After some research), I understood that money could be make with hard work & effort. See, there were certain aspect of direct sales marketing that taught me much about MLM type business to that point!

TIP>>> Truely, one really simple fact.......You will have a much higher success rate (% wise) when you have an actually product or service to sale to an end user.....a customer!

Even with that wisdom in mind, I began using the training, paying for online/offline advertising, buying leads trying to convince prospects to join or stay in my businesses.

Clients would just drop-out for any reason......I've heard so many different excuses (which is really what they were, excuses).

The income from commissions was still less than my R.O.I. (Return On Investment). I was truthful in my presentations, careful not to hype products or services excessively ( I'm turned off by this types of tactics of advertising myself), willing to build relationships etc., yet I kept losing my clients. The harder I seemed to work didn't seem to stop my rollercoaster ride in building my MLM business.

There is a reason for this.

Now this was a few years ago. I've seeked, explored & have learned so much since then!

Nowadays, there are 2-3 times more of these MLM type businesses and more every month.

Seriously, the odds for an individual to achieve financial success is against them straight out the gate.

For one, MLM are not defined nor regulated like say, franchises (McDonalds, Subways etc.,) are. MLMs can be established without federal or state approval. There are no federal law specifically against MLM with many of them in fact, being nothing more than pyramid schemes in disguise. Not all but many are floating around out there!

MLM, just like pyramid schemes, generate income from those continuous influx of new distributors at the bottom that goes straight to the top and that profits those in top level positions & their sponsoring corporations.

Fact ~ one the largest MLM, Amway, of all distributors they only produce 1/2 of 1% of basic "direct" distributor level, with an average income from those Amway distributors being about $40 a month. Where do you think ALL of that revenue from the other 99 1/2% went too???

And think about this, you are likely to find these businesses, at one point will claim that there are X amount of people enrolled in their business. Usually some number in the thousands, of other distributors who are making money just like you.

Which brings upon another fact......

Market saturation! The simple fact is that even the most successful products will have only partial market penetration.

Huh??? LOOK......not everyone will buy, say, a PS3 (Playstation3), some will buy the Xbox! Not everyone will buy a GMC car some will buy Toyota.

Yet, these MLM companies have 10's of thousands of distributors. Is there a cut-off point when enough sales people are hired? In a traditional business, there is someone that says, "OK, we have enough, let's stop hiring people at this point." But in most MLM, there is no way to do this. Or they don't do this. And your MLM company continues to saturate the market. Out of control by design, this will eat up the lower level distributors money, time, credibility, and entrepreneurial energy of well-meaningful people who joined trying to find other distributors.

Some of these businesses are primarily in the business to continuously enroll distributors with little focus on products or services retailed towards consumers (an end user). Unless, of course, it benefit the company. Things like leads generation programs, auto responders, splashpages etc.,
(Which again does what.......benefit top level participants).

BIGGEST mis-conception about MLM is it can be done in your spare time. As a business, it offers the greatest flexibility and personal freedom of time. A few hours a week can earn a significant supplemental income and may grow to a very large income making other work unnecessary.

Come on, now really.......I understand this business of advertising.

Example: You go to one of these fast food joints, We look at the menu, and boy those pictures makes you want to eat the menu. When ever, has your burger sandwich or meal ever come to you looking like it does on the menu? So yes, there is always a bit of hype (exaggeration) in advertising, commercials. This is or has been reasonably except-able. MLM companies or their distributors on the other hand, sometime really do over do it. Many times bordering false advertising. Which is almost always cover by the fine print - disclaimers!

Decades of experience involving millions of people have proven that successful entrepreneurs who make even a reasonable amount of return on their investment ~ requires extraordinary time, commitment as well as hard work, effort & persistence.

Which is WHY people drop out of they're respective business.

It’s sad that 95-99% of all home businesses (mlm and network marketing) fail to produce a substantial income (if any income at all). And this is well documented. The remaining 5% are considered to be the home business or internet “guru’s” that make ALL THE MONEY!
The average income for those that do make an income is $5000.00 per yr. The top 2 sales group are Health & Wellness & Services.

Top level participants

Most people begin and end their MLM career only talking to a few family members and friends. That is the extent of their lead generation, their marketing campaign. Their effort to run a business. Clearly, any serious network marketer or business owner cannot build a sustainable income like this.

Truth is these guru's can claim they built their massive organization nearly over night, however, it took them years of building teams through affiliations with numerous other MLM companies. After years of building relationships with hundreds or thousands of distributors, these top producer can switch companies, contact their down-line (list)....... and have what seems like an overnight success.

Choosing the wrong product, a weak compensation plan, the wrong team or the wrong lead generation system are other reasons you will fail in this MLM and network marketing arena.

Strategic planning, organizing and goal setting are all a major parts of running a successful business, whether at home or in a traditional brick & mortar business.

The exact nature of your internet marketing activity will depend on the following things:

- What do you want to achieve?
- How you are going to achieve it?
- How much you are willing to invest?
- Are you willing to dig in and work hard towards your goal/dream?

TIP>>> Understand that most home business entrepreneur and network marketers are ALREADY in business for themselves. They already have a business opportunity, or affiliate program, and don’t want to hear about yours. So don't spend alot of time or effort in that direction!

Ok, the question at the beginning of this entry "What is the average time your clients STAY with your business?"

After an intense research...... There seems to be no actual hard data, giving the nature of many MLM business over the last decade. With no real state or federal regulations in place and many company's being fly-by-night operations. True data can only be calculated through numbers provided to the IRA by up-front companies who reps are required to provide their social security number for tax purposes.

* Roughly 70-75% of new start-up MLM companies fold after the first year

* Nearly 60% of sign-ups to an online business cancel after the 1st month
* Nearly 80-85% after the 3rd month

Again, many many MLM. network marketer understand that there is a very high turn-over ratio in this industry. Granted that you have been networking for a little bit, it is easy to see.

Anything worthwhile in life is ever free nor easy! Making money, going after goals and even planning your next vacation. All require effort........it's just how the world works.
WORK, being the keyword here. Some will shed blood, sweat & tears. Others will simply work smarter.

Many of people over the years have tried to short cut, scheme, steal their way into financial freedom. One things is for sure........many have found that in the end, it all catches up with them evenually.

As I research to procure the path to my own prosperity. When it comes to building wealth, I have come across about a dozen traits that stand out. These characteristics are common among the very successful in our society. And it should cause all that aim to succeed to take notice on how the rich build wealth and obtain success in life.

There's been a long standing motto in the entrepreneur circle.......study what your mentor does or take what the person you admire does and simple do what they do. In our case, we are studying wealth building.......

D.W.W.D. "DO WHAT the WEALTHY DO"

1) Wealth accumulation or wealth building is purely about your mindset.

Mindset - To establish a set of perspectives within ones thought process.

The mind must be focus in a positive yet passion mentality. Your mindset is not an anchored entity. It must be nourished and developed. This stimulates actions like motivation & productivity.

Wealthy people also have a leadership mindset. They only follow when they are learning. That learning turns into knowledge that transforms into wisdom. This mindset creates efficient leaders. And great leaders produce results.

In short, train your brain for complete success in the task at hand.

2) Know where you want to go!
“When you find your path, you must ignore fear. You need to have the courage to risk mistakes. But once you are on that road... run, run, run, and don't stop til you've reached its end.”

Direction is important!

You must first know or at least understand where & why you want to go.

You don't generally step out your door, jump in car or on your bike and then travel aimlessly. You have a set place where you want to end up at. Plus, why you wanted to go there!

This is as well in wealth building......do you want to make an extra $500.00 a month? Is the goal $5,000.00 per month? Do you want assets of a million dollar by age of 40?

Define specific amounts and times, then plan to arrive at that destination!

3) Live life on your terms

How does living life on your terms relates to wealth building?

To begin with a lot of us baby-boomers were raised up with the notion that if you go to school/college, get a great job, work your way up the corporate ladder. All would lead to this awesome life. Well, reality is, it isn't a pretty ride. Often times, we are sucked into an anomaly where that J.O.B becomes Just Over Broke!

Car notes, house payments, student loans, bills bills and more bills. Before you know it your 40/50 years old and retirement is closing in fast. Where did all the years go? What happened to those dreams of travel, fine wines & epic adventures?

Live life on your terms means living the life that you were truly meant to live. It's is your biggest motivator. It should always inspire you to improve the quality of your life. Our life shouldn't be dictated by someone else time clock.

Life is meant to be lived. With quality time with family and friends. Travels, hobbies and a sense of accomplishments. Financial freedom provides that type of lifestyle.

Yes, live life on your terms!

4) Read, that's right read!

Every person worth more than a million $$$.....reads.

Not only is this a fact, they contribute their success to reading, a lot of reading.

"That's how knowledge works," Warren Buffett told an investment class at Columbia University. "It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it."

"Books were my path to personal freedom," Oprah Winfrey once said. "I learned to read at age 3 and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond our farm in Mississippi."

Reading increases knowledge, knowledge allows them to see opportunities. Reading improves their business sense, vocabulary, imagination, memory & creativity. Keeping them ahead of their competition. It also helps lower stress, while pushing you towards your goals.

5) Don't make excuses

Another interesting trait of successful people.......they make no excuses.

Excuses are just lies wrapped up neatly in reasons. As with any successful person, there will be failure. With a excellent leader they except responsibility. Great leadership except blame, then find ways for improvement.

6) Invest

Investing is not a savings account. Investing is having your money work for you over a period of time.

Investments creates wealth, just ask Warren Buffett. Mr. Buffett, one of America's wealthiest citizen with an estimated $76 Billion worth. Did so by investing, he give us these snippets........

"Long ago, Ben Graham taught me that 'Price is what you pay; value is what you get.' Whether we're talking about socks or stocks, I like buying quality merchandise when it is marked down."

Investing is a great way to beat inflation, much better than your ordinary saving account.

Invest in stocks, over say bonds, simply because over time they usually perform better and is your best shot at the highest returns.

Property investments have also proven to be fruitful for many of the successful.

Having a balanced diversified portfolio will create a higher yields while minimizing risks.

Last but not least,

Stay focus now, get your mind out the gutter.

D.D.D stands for Don't Do Debt! Your biggest obstacle towards wealth building is debt. Eliminated it at all cost. If you can't pay for it in cash..........then you can't afford it!

8) Eliminate self gratification

An important mindset that is tied in with D.D.D., is self-gratification. The indulgence or satisfaction of one's own desires.

You want it now, but you'll pay for it later. This is also a wealth building killer. Including myself, many many people remain in debt because of the urge to have it now.

Practice delayed gratification, or deferred gratification, the ability to resist the temptation for an immediate satisfaction and wait for a later reward.

Save that $5 today, have $5 next month.
Don't buy that flat screen now on your credit card @ $2,000.00 with principles over two years. Save for one year, buy the new improved model for $900.00 next year.
Invest that $1100.00!

9) Seek prosperity, abundance

Money is actually everywhere, even in bad economic times, money is out there. It's circulating some where. I was reading somewhere or heard this at a seminar. And remember this example about money:

Take an item, sale it to someone. Now there are two situations going on here right now.

Person 1) has money to buy or paid something.
Person 2) has something to sale.

P1) now buys or pays for a product or service somewhere. This payment has now transferred between 3 people.

P2) decides to sale that item for a profit. P2) now has a payment (money) and has put a product back into circulation.

That money is doing nothing but circulating.

I have always said to myself.....all I want to do is get caught up in that whirlpool of money. It's my version of the rich get richer. (I wrote in an earlier article......don't hate on the hustle who flips his profits.)

Think BIG, Dream BIG.......Do BIG things!

10) Figure out a NEED then FULFILL it.

One way to build wealth is to create an income. We do this by starting that chain reaction mentioned above. Sale something that someone wants and supply it to them.

Supply and demand, it's been done for centuries. Provide a better product, an improved service or simply offer an outstanding value.

11) Associate with those you want to be like

If you wanted to become a baseball player, would you spend your day around people who build cars all day? Your interest is flying airplane, why would you read books about sail boats? Have you every seen a drug addict hanging around a fitness junkie? It's kind of easy to understand the simplicity of this.

You are a product of your environment. I believe it was Jim Rohn that said it best........

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

It will be that surrounding that will shape who you are and what you'll be come.

12) GIVE back

You go to church, you know about tithe. Which means “10% of your earnings to your church,” yet in the Old Testament, it actually was 10% paid twice a year (20%) of your crop or cattle to the land of Israel. Just a little biblical knowledge

All the same, giving back has many benefit and gratification.

This is be a conscious decision. Yet, giving is a spiritual being. Those that give back find that it does come back to them in some form.

As in tithe, when you give 10%, you are likely to receive even more back. Is this a scientific fact or simply the law of attraction?

There are however, tax-benefits as well. In most cases, one can deduct anywhere from 30% - 50% of your adjusted gross income in charitable contributions.

At the end of the day..........it's a great feeling, so give when you can 😉

666 Is Never A Great Combination

After such a fruitful run these last few years, today Wall Street is hit deep. A reminder that the markets possess a high volatility. And it's back with a vengeance. It's only been 8 other times that the Dow has hit below 600 at 665 about 2.5% at close. This is the steepest decline since 2008. Even the European markets are fairing the sting.

As a stronger than expected jobs report added 200,000 manufacturing jobs equaling a $0.09 or 2.5% wage growth. Was it the fear of interest rates hikes that sparks the sell-off. Or just a panic? Moving forward, what does this mean now?

Just off the heels of President Trump's State of the Union where the Commander In Chief proclaimed 2.4 million jobs added, jobless claims at a 45 year low, the Dow Jones roars 25% last year. Analysts believe that the tax cuts and deregulations contributed to corporate profits, employee bonuses and rising stock prices.

This is all great news for everyone across the board in the financial world. So why then did the markets react as they did? Is this a sign of something positive or an inkling of a much more volatile market in the days ahead.

The possible worry could have been if the Federal Reserve decided to rise rates. Which would have a rippling effect within the financial industry.

Federal Reserve "Fed" for short, is an U.S. financial institution who job is primarily responsible for the upkeep of our banking system. It can dispense trillions of dollar into the economy to stimulate growth and employment.

Why rise the interest rates? Generally, in fear of "inflation" or simply, if your money starts to buy you less than before. Another way to look at inflation, there is more money circulating than products to buy. So the bank slow down the money power by making it hard to borrow. In a nutshell!

The fed regulate the base interest rate that banks can lend funds to another bank. All other banks rates are adjusted around this set figure. Higher rates means less loans, because more interest in being paid on the money they already have in the banks.

They first raise the rates they charge large corporation better known as prime-rates. Next, mortgages and credit cards are rated against the prime. Then , small business and personal loans are affected. And that folks, is how they run our money.

Yes, even the digital currency has taken on their fair share of onslaught this week. All major cryptocurrencies are in a back paddling mode.

As always, best bet is to hodl, cryptocurrency should have been brought with the intention of a long-term investment. If you must sell, do 30% and re-invest into another altcoin.

Always do your due diligence and seek professionals in that field.

The Marijuana Justice Act & Other Petitions to Legalize Cannabis In the America

When I was back in school.......some years ago. And I don't mean "some" as in a few. I'm a little ole school, and that's quite alright, I am very grateful to this journey. I have witness some remarkable changes that life has evolved into over the last very few decades. And I remember one of them being a conversation within my group or squad as they are called nowadays. I had a prediction that within my lifetime, marijuana would be legalized.

For me, it was just simple common sense. If they allow alcohol consumption in every states, why not treat marijuana just like they would alcohol. More so, wouldn't that create an entirely profitable industry, as well as enhance another. Referring to the agriculture (farmer) industry. Tax it like tobacco, add in the medical benefits. I'm worrying what took so long?

Even then, I had this notion that legalization could do more good than harm. Which seems now, to be the sentiments reflected in today's society.

Wish I could have called a few more predictions like that!

A poll conducted a few months ago, found nearly 65% of U.S. citizens now support the legalization of marijuana. This is the largest pro-cannabis surveyed in over 5 decades and doesn't seem to be slowing down. Top that with 90% of it's citizens are also in favor of medical cannabis use.

All over, states like Vermont who became the 1st state in 2018 to legalize the plant with New Hampshire following suit as it has a bill already in it's House of Representatives. With 12 states in total with Bills for legalization. 8 more states have regulation that treat marijuana the same as alcohol. 9 states are looking into research medical programs. While 8 states are looking to decriminalize small amounts of cannabis. Another 23 states have already imposed simple fines, removed jail-time for personal possession.

PROs - Increased revenues, Medical marijuana (both THC and CBD) while providing law enforcement and the courts with more money (through tax revenue). Utilize time to focus on more violent crimes, black market, safety (quality).

CONs - Marijuana additive, health issues.....that include lungs, brain function, memory etc,. Mind altering, can become gateway. All of which would need further studies due to the lack of deep accurate research.

Bills, Laws & Petitions

S.1689 - Marijuana Justice Act of 2017 -

Introduced by Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), this piece of legislation, the Marijuana Justice Act S.1689, would legalize marijuana on the federal level. Ending the prohibition on marijuana that has been around since 1937, by removing the drug from the DEA’s list of controlled substances entirely.

This bill would also allow judicial review of anybody serving a prison sentence for it's possession and even provide financial (tax) incentives for states to legalize it as well.

H.R.4815 - Marijuana Justice Act of 2018 -

Is similar to the bill above, Rep. Barbara Lee as well as Sen. C. Booker introduced the two bills to both chambers of Congress. The meat and potatoes of this bill includes......

(1) remove marijuana from the US Controlled Substances Act, thereby ending the federal criminalization of cannabis;

(2) incentives states to mitigate existing and ongoing racial disparities in state-level marijuana arrests;

(3) expunge federal convictions specific to marijuana possession; (4) allow individuals currently serving time in federal prison for marijuana-related violations to petition the court for resentencing; (5) and create a community reinvestment fund to invest in communities most impacted by the failed War on Drugs.

H.R.1227 — 115th Congress (2017-2018) -

It removes marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinols from schedule I. (A schedule I controlled substance is a drug, substance, or chemical that: has a high potential for abuse; has no currently accepted medical value; and is subject to regulatory controls and administrative, civil, and criminal penalties under the Controlled Substances Act.)

Also eliminating criminal penalties for an individual who imports, exports, manufactures, distributes, or possesses with intent to distribute marijuana.

It will make it a crime to knowingly ship or transport marijuana into a state where its receipt, possession, or sale is prohibited. Violator will be subject to criminal penalties.

H.R. 3391: The Medical Marijuana Research Act of 2017

This bill amends the federal law so that scientist can facilitate clinical studies involving the use of cannabis and cannabis-derived products

Quick Week End's Glance At the Markets: Cannabis & Cryptocurrency

This week as been a little crazier than the norm..........

Cryptocurrencies continues to get beat up, hacked, regulated and slaloms the markets. But as I mentioned before, that's how the markets do! Let's take a summary of this week's Crypto, Cannabis & stock market happenings.

In the last year, altcoins have made their presence known in a most compelling manner. The world stood up and took notice indeed, even a topic of discussion at the 2018 Davos. But, now the crypto faithful are realizing that this platform comes with it's volatilities.

There are a number of possible factors in this weeks pullback that includes what might become the worlds largest digital currency hack. Japan's reported $530 million or about 500 million NEMs may have been an inside job. As Coincheck suspends trading, withdrawals and deposits of most cryptocurrencies there pending further investigation.

*UPDATE*: The company reports that the source of the hack has been located. And that they intend to refund most funds stolen.

How about the South Korean regulators that has now created a task force to oversee their exchanges. This could have enticed investors to abandon ship.

The crypto markets seems to have stabled themselves a bit. Still Bitcoin, down about 5% since last Friday's opening and we are thankful for that. Ripple, who had such a promising run, had a huge 24% slide this week. Even with it's technical connection to the Ethereum based blockchain technology ETH, dipped a little over 9% this week. With NEM taken the biggest punch at nearly 33%.

The DOW Jones hits a record territories.....again! As well, the Nasdaq & the S&P 500 finishing the week with new highs. The DJI up by 223 points, that closed at 26,616. The Nasdaq climbed 1.28% & the S&P 500 rose to 1.18%.

The Business Highs & Lows ~ U.S. Marijuana/Cannabis Industry PT:2

With so much information and such a huge investment opportunity in the medical/recreational marijuana industry. I had to add an additional segment to my last post. There are many pieces to expose as mainstream society, especially here in the USA, becomes a little less scrutinizing. That's not to say that there are no pitfalls.

With different regulations and laws provided by the many states and countries. Navigating where and how to use or invest into this industry is more like playing a game of chess.

The global financial
impact rest around $400 billion. While still in a relatively infant stage. The potential for incredible financial gains are there with one important obstacle. Current laws that vary from place to places!
And a federal law that strikes fear in every investor.

When we look across the planet we find places like Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Peru, Spain, Switzerland & Uruguay are countries that allow it's citizens to consume, cultivate and even distribute in small personal quantities.

As with the countries above, the laws vary. Where in many other countries it may be illegal yet, it is decriminalized or simply accepted as long as you are not involved in any other activity that is of a criminal nature.

Of all places, North Korea allows it citizens to grow, consume and sell. California's recreational laws that takes effect this year, includes business that can not operate within 600 ft. of a school. Must have 24-hr. surveillance and close by 10pm. In Amsterdam, if you are 18 yrs. of age, social smoke cafés known as "Coffee shops" allows recreational use within it's facilities.

In Jamaica, the ganja, because of it's spiritual practices amongst the Rastafarian, has it's own set of by-laws. And in Israel, they are considered the leader in world cannabis research for medical patient use.

As you can see, this is just a small portion of the countries around the world that view the plant in a less criminal manner.

However, though there are 46 U.S. states with some kind of legalization to use the THC plant. All the while, on the federal level, marijuana is a Schedule 1 drug, that puts it in the same classification as Heroin, LSD, Ecstasy & Quaaludes. That essential says.......that the government sees marijuana as a highly addictive drug having no medical benefits nor uses.

So we can see where this could represent some legalities when it comes to operating a business. The agency does provide some guideline to prosecutors that so that these businesses as well as medical cannabis curriculum can follow, allowing some leeway for states to operate without prosecution.

These guidelines include the prevention of distribution to minors, revenues from sales can not go into criminal activities, such as gangs or cartels. No violence associated with the cultivation or distribution. And guidelines that prevent the growing or possession on federal property or that would danger the environment.

An in-depth review of federal standards in the U.S.

Despite any and all negative branding on marijuana. The latest reports finds that 2018 expects to exceed all expectations to a tune of over $10 billion.

It's reasonable to say, that the complete legalization for medical & recreational usage is really not that far behind.

We would hope that as the powers to be grapple the potential financial implications, finding a way to profit while politicians seat on their hands is another obstacle.

My guess is, even the current administration is putting the numbers together.....and will come to their senses as these figures show substantial tax revenue increases, huge job developments in manufacturing, retail & agriculture. The healthcare industry could fare very well also. Not to mention, the votes he could pull in. ( Bet that would get the ball rolling pretty fast!!!!)

Seeing as most major banks and credit card fear putting/backing any business could be interpret as money laundering under the current US laws. Waiting for an eventual passing of laws that will legalize the plant. Is like burning money and trying to put it out with gasoline.

Is investing in the business stocks or finding ETF surrounding this industry a way to get your piece of the pie? Perhaps companies that supply machinery and parts are a safe bet till our government get their act together. Until then, my research continues........

There's plenty of chat and buzz surrounding all things "Cannabis". Whether it be medical, recreational or governmental. The interest has never had so much enthusiasm or as much attentiveness as the marijuana/cannabis industry has in recent years.

As more and more states & countries are realizing not only the medical benefits of the notorious weed. They are succumb or better yet, enticed by it's financial rewards. There are huge gains & economical advantages within it's grasp.

Here in the US.........

The tax revenues associated with the expansion of legalized cannabis has proving fruitful in every state. Colorado saw a 57% increase in state tax between 2015 & 2016. Across the board, theses states are seeing much higher tax collection than even from alcohol taxes.

Despite the nasty history this plant has had to lived with. There is no denying that the benefits of legalization of marijuana/cannabis outweighs any past negatives. As I'm sure with most of the mentality in the political world....with states that have legalized marijuana having generated some $1.5 billion in tax revenues, Money talks BS walks!

There is a business side to the medical & recreational cannabis industry. which means there is also a financial side to it as well. Now, I'm not talking about the profits or taxation of the business yet, the investment side.

As businesses develop and expand, the need for capital also increases. These legal marijuana business operate just as any other company. And just like any other company, they can be sold. Whether......you as a private citizen can own a piece of that company by buying shares or stock.

Navigating the varies options can be a little mind twisting. But, we will take one slice of that puzzle and present it to you. That option is called EFT. And they are doing very well, in the early stages of this young volatile industry.

Exchange Traded Funds - Essentially, is a group of investments packages together and traded as one on the markets. They are similar to mutual funds (kind of what you have in your 401K plan). You would buy shares of these packaged investments for long term, short sell or on margins that are within a particular index, say, the Dow Jones (DJIA), S&P 500, the Nasdaq or the Russell 2000

More popular now then they were in the early 80's when they were introduced. Most likely because they are less expensive to manage. Yet, their idea function is to trade at a consistent level as the index themselves. Meaning, fund manager use an investment strategy called Passive investing. Which tries to mimic the performance of the stocks within that particular index. For instance, your portfolio are groups of companies on Nasdaq. Starting around the mid 1500's , the Spanish introduced hemp to the new lands. This plant was a major commodity, grown with the likes of tobacco and consumed as a source of fiber. Hemp was even traded as currency, as well as made into paper and clothing. One could even be fined for not producing/growing the plant.

It was around the late 1800's, that hemp plant began to be replaced with cotton.

The stigma associated with marijuana for years stems from an ambitous politician name Harry Anslinger. Anslinger headed what was essentially the nation’s first drug czar, the Commissioner to the Department Bureau of Narcotics from 1930 to 1962. Anslinger was clearly a racist and attempted to make big of his position in Department of Prohibition after the failed attempt at alcohol prohibition.

He had in fact, deemed the plant "Demon weed" in the 1930's. By creating a fear in the publics eyes. He tied marijuana use to an infamous murder of that time. (Victor Licata).

Excerpts from newspapers owned by one of Americas early media mogul William Hearst that helped fuel this negative campaign against marijuana usage.

Who also had his own agenda.

“There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others.”

“…the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.”

“Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death.”

“Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”

“Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing”

“You smoke a joint and you’re likely to kill your brother.”

“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.”

I think, 2018 will now become a most definitive time in the history of the plant.

There are now, 30 legal medical marijuana usage states & 8 recreational usage states. Each state having their own set of by-laws.

California was the first state to accept legalized medical marijuana in 1996. Not surprised, followed by.......

1998: Alaska, Oregon, & Washington

1999: Maine

2000: Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada

2004: Montana, Vermont

2006: Rhode Island

2007: New Mexico

2008: Michigan

2010: Arizona, D.C., New Jersey

2011: Delaware

2012: Connecticut, Massachusetts

2013: Illinois, New Hampshire

2014: Maryland, Minnesota, New York

2015: Louisiana

2016: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Dakota, Arkansas

What does medical marijuana really do?

Though the FDA ~ The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has not yet approved many marijuana plants as medicine due to the lack of research. This is starting to change as more studies become readily available with promising results.

There are three approved man-made cannabinoid (organic chemical delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) ) medicines > Dronabinol (Marinol) & Nabilone (Cesamet) that treats nausea & vomiting from chemotherapy. As well as a liquid form of Dronabinol called Syndros.

Even though man has been cultivating and consuming the potent tops of female cannabis plants since the beginning of known history. Scientists have found that ancient cultures cultivated marijuana for pharmaceutical and prophetic purposes.

Despite a long history ban on the use of the plant, that was first imposed by Congress under the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 and then later classifying the cannabis plant as a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970.

Drugs like cocaine & methamphetamine that can still be consumed under a doctor's supervision are classified as Schedule II drugs. Where alcohol & tobacco are unscheduled.

Recreational Marijuana:

Modern society continues to indulge in the recreational use of cannabis as more and more states deem to decriminalize and legalize the plant.

Those that support the legalization of cannabis believe through conducted studies that this negative attitude towards marijuana has been disastrous considering the nations incarceration numbers.

The "pro" side of legalized cannabis use include:

Tax revenues

Alcohol and Tobacco far more harmful

The cost of enforcement is not cost efficient

The laws are racially discriminatory

Legalization would also cut down the black market and money laundering aspect of this current mentality.
But this growing industry is facing a federal crackdown under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has compared cannabis to heroin.

General requirements for recreational use are > 21 years of age, no public smoking, must be a licensed dispensary to buy or sell, can have anywhere from 1 ounce to as much as 10 ounces depending on the state.

Edibles and oils that can be used in vapor pens are becoming very popular in the recreational user circles.

Investing in the future of Marijuana/Cannabis Industry:

As states increasingly allow the plant to be sold legally for medical & recreational use. It can be foreseen that investors would capitalize on this emerging industry. In 2017, the medical marijuana industry went up by 17% to about $6 billion. This industry is set to increase by another 25% this year alone. Estimates are charting $40 - $50 billion by 2025. It's a risky endeavor now yet, the future is on the right path to a very prosperous venture.

After a rollercoaster of a ride yesterday on Wall street, record high ends the session today. The DOW Jones after breaking the 26K barrier yesterday did not sustain there. However, today.......

DJI closed over 26K at $26,115.62 (+322.79 1.25%)
Nasdaq $7,298.28 (+74.59 1.03%)
S&P 500 $2,802.56 (+26.14 0.94%)

Encouraging statements out of APPLE (APPL) $179.10 (+2.91 1.65%), as they announce a $350 billion investment excluding a $5 billion advanced manufacturing fund & expects to add 20,000 jobs over the next 5 years. All the while it will pay a $38 billion tax bill, so that foreign money can be moved back into the US.

Boeing Co (BA) $351.01 (+15.85 4.73%) Travel, airbus demands seems to be the motivation behind it's strong market growth.

IBM (IBM) $168.65 (+4.80 2.93%) up on speculations of cloud computing, possible share gains in microprocessors on the wake of Intel & Advanced Micro Devices chip flaws.

On the crypto front the word of the day is 'HODL"

As I mentioned in yesterday post. This is what the markets do. Spikes & dips......Candlesticks!

Yet, rest assure that the current market actions are just what is needed......volatility! When you have a 2000% upward trend over the course of 12 months, one can surely expect this kind of market actions 01/16/2018. Where most altcoins took between a 16.00% and 30.00% dip.

People have to remember that in the early stage of the game, long-term should be the thought process. Hold, study what are the causes, act but don't over react!

There will be multiple situations over the coming months/years that will cause one to go into panic mode. Regulatory concerns, China, Korea, the US dollar, gold prices. The list can go on. Yet, knowing that you are in it for the long haul should be of some relief.

If you are one of the early birds that got in some year ago and beyond. You are still sitting pretty. Your gains far out weight any current losses of recent days. From the chart below, you can see that most top coins are up in the plus range over the last 24 hrs.

RIOT Riot Blockchain Inc ~ A first mover on the NASDAQ focused on blockchain technology. Leverages its expertise and network to build and support blockchain technology companies. Entered into a definitive agreement to complete a transaction with Cresval Capital Corp. TessPay is a blockchain company developing a supply chain payment platform for businesses to attempt to guarantee payment on time and in full.

SIEB Siebert Financial Corp. ~ Originated around 1886, this holding company offers discount brokerage services through its subsidiary Muriel Siebert & Co., which has been in business and a member of the New York Stock Exchange since 1967. A letter of intent with Overstock.com (NASDAQ:OSTK) to offer discount brokerage services through a portal on Overstock's website will launch 1Q of 2018

These picks, I will post as of this posting several times a week on their progress.They are a variation of biotech, technology, cannabis and cryptocurrency entities. I am watching the performance of these stocks as part of an on-going research into these industries in 2018. Again, these are of interest to @wehit and are in no way a recommendation.

Stocks are a weird entity of sorts. For centuries humans have made and lost fortunes in the markets. Billions have been invested, millions spent trying to understand it's behavior. Which is probably why we are drawn towards it's unpredictability and risk it's financial rewards.

As the Nasdaq slides $7,224.00 -37.06 0.51% (+4.64 for the year)

While the S&P500 holds @ 2776.42 0.00 0.00% (+3.85 for 2018)

All on the heels of the euro as it hits a 3yr. high against the USD.

GE takes a beating, dipping -0.55 2.93% to $18.21

In the crypto world, also on edge, even though the altcoins are performing as expected when you throw volatility in the mix. Still, most took a grave hit today.

Below, I have taken the first 5 of 20 companies that I am researching in 2018. These are not recommendation as stated, yet, are within industries that I feel are worthy of potential gains.

We have watch the markets doing extremely well recently. And giving the current tax breaks, industries , the likes of Biotech, including medical marijuana, companies involved in drones, virtual/augmented (VR/AR) reality technologies as well as altcoins, stand to do very well in my opinion this year.

AMBA Ambarella Inc ~ Is a high definition/ultra HD video chip processor company founded in 2004. Currently employing nearly 700 personnel. Ambarella supplies their chips to GoPro, IP securities, non-GoPro wearables as well as drones. It's CEO Fermi wang, have informed of it successful demonstrated of it's CV1 chip to customers and quote "solid execution in support of the development and delivery of our next generation computer vision solutions." And has begun sampling it in both the security & automotive markets.

ACBFF Aurora Cannabis Inc ~ A medical marijuana producer & distributor. Founded out of Canada in 2006, has recently expanded it's management team. With plans to buy a 17.6% stake in a privately held marijuana grower named Green Organic Dutchman Holdings for $44 million.

2017, being a very good year for this company per it's 4Q & full 2017 financial report . With this year looking extremely well due to projects like the Aurora Sky near completion. Just in time for Canada's official legalization on July 1st 2018.

AVAV AeroVironment Inc ~ Founded in the early 70's (1971), this is an American technology company. They supply the military and commercial application for unmanned aerial vehicles, commercial information solutions for electric vehicle (EV) system & energy systems.

At the 2018 CES in Las Vegas this company unveiled it's next-generation EV charging station for commercial, workplace, utility and residential customers around the world called "TurboDX™".

EXEL Exelixis Inc ~ Founded in 1995, this research & development company has three medicines discovered by Exelixis researchers that treat patients living with certain types of kidney cancer, thyroid cancer and advanced melanoma.

With substantial gains this year, this company stand to flourish in 2018. Data provided indicates improved survival rates among patients with advanced-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of liver cancer. And is said to be ready to apply to the FDA, which could increase it $7.7 billion market cap a largely undeserved population.

A Agilent Techn. Inc. ~ A global leader in life sciences, diagnostics and applied chemical markets. Founded in 1999, as a spin-off from Hewlett-Packard, here is another research, development & manufacturing company. They have won tons of awards in innovations with as many patents for inventions in tow.

With the recent acquired Cork, Ireland-based Luxcel Biosciences "Luxcel", a developer of real-time fluorescence plate-reader based in vitro cell assay kits. The acquisition expands Agilent's cell analysis portfolio with the addition of easy-to-use assay kits that are compatible with industry standard plate-readers.

This company works with customers in more than 100 countries, providing instruments, software, services and consumables for the entire laboratory workflow.
