In the sequence of photos below, Greyson is imitating the monkeys in his favorite part of Madagascar (Attached below that).

I don't want to hear anything smart.

I know it's been awhile and all I can say is "Get used to it". I am a busy guy and getting around to this stuff is getting progressively more difficult. Anyway, here are some photos from our trip to California. I haven't even gotten around to editing photos from December yet. All I can do is keep cranking away at the pile of shots I have accumulated and add them as time permits. I hope you enjoy them. Regards, JAKE

November Update

noreply@blogger.com (Jake Weiss) — Mon, 01 Dec 2008 21:14:00 +0000

Taking a fall walk on the trail overlooking the Fox River. Enjoying the warm sun while it lasts. Papa Weiss and I setting up the faux foam on the Halloween Cauldron. Greyson watching Cars before school. It was really difficult to leave that morning. Vacuuming the reading room - what a mess! I think we were looking for Jake on the trail in this picture. Trying to get Greyson to look at the camera is a bit of a challenge in case you haven't noticed. Oma Weiss with Celia the Monkey on Halloween Night at the Spooktacular Stark House. Papa (Woody the Cowboy from Toy Story) and Oma (the happy clown) on Halloween Night. Chasing after Greyson the Dragon who wanted to explore the neighborhood that is Enderis Park. Greyson the Dragon in action. It's a miracle we got him into this costume after his initial meltdown earlier in the evening. Papa Weiss securing Grey's dragon head on for a miraculous three seconds (and a picture too)! Celia walking with her purple glow stick.Fall afternoon playing in the leaves at Grandma and Papa Mac's house. Greyson chasing Scotch around the yard. Teething again. A great smile from Papa Mac as he proudly displays Riley, Greyson's Class Koala. Riley, Grandma Mac and me posing for the camera while Greyson looks off in the distance at Jake, Dad or Scotch. Coloring with markers. Greyson wearing his big boy underwear after using the potty for the first time. Jake and Greyson setting up the video camera to record a recent snowfall. I think this face means I like the shoes but don't take a picture of me in my diaper. Playing in the leaf pile at Grandma and Papa Mac's house. Family photo = rare occurrence. Painting at breakfast? Daddy is so much fun! More painting at breakfast. Greyson's big boy bed, unveiled. Washing our hands after using the potty (this photo was meant to follow the potty success picture above). Greyson literally wearing his badge of potty success - a truck sticker. Greyson asking Papa nicely for more m&m's. Greyson in the middle of saying please for yet more m&m's. Watching either Papa, Jake or Scotch from Oma & Papa Weiss' storm door in West Bend. Celia & Greyson playing with trucks together at Oma & Papa Weiss' House. Celia looking cute as ever on the celebration of her first birthday. First photo of the trucks Greyson stacked on the floor in our living room. Me shoveling outside after an unexpected snowfall. One of Greyson's favorite things to do is jump on our bed. We're probably bad parents for letting him, but honestly, who can resist such fun? Celia's birthday celebration in which she briefly wore the monkey hat Oma Weiss and Jake made for her. Celia posing so sweetly on Stacey's lap. I believe this was the point in which she crashed after the sugar buzz wore off from her birthday cake. Greyson on any random day, climbing me like I am a jungle gym. Our "White Christmas" Tree. Decorating the tree. Random lamp photo Jake captured. We leave you with more trucks Greyson stacked. Until next time....

10.19.08 - A quick update

noreply@blogger.com (Jake Weiss) — Sun, 19 Oct 2008 05:06:00 +0000

Here's a preview of Greyson's Halloween costume. If you can't tell based on the above picture, he's going to be a dragon. Cuddling before bedtime. Greyson's pretty proud in this picture because he was able to refine the art of sitting on his art stool all by himself. Laughing in his rocking chair shortly before bedtime. Enjoying balloons with Oma Weiss in preparation for Auntie Stacey's Birthday celebration in West Bend. Somehow the balloons escaped outside and Greyson was having fun chasing after them and scooping them up in his arms. Here he's captured a wandering yellow balloon. Grey's facial expression is quite strange, but he's showing Jake rocks from Oma & Papa Weiss' driveway. I believe these images are in reverse order. Walking with Papa Weiss to look at the construction trucks. Almost to the excavator near Papa & Oma Weiss' house. A bit of perspective on size. Oma & Papa Weiss watching Greyson play at the park. Swinging at the park. A brief hug before returning to the playground. Greyson likes the feeling of sand in his hands, but NOT in his shoes. A shot of Stacey's Birthday Cupcakes. Another view of the birthday cupcakes and decorations in the background. Classic Matt. Stacey & Celia enjoying the sweet cupcake goodness. Right for the frosting. That's my niece! I'm not sure what this look was in reference to but somebody looks like they're in trouble! Celia crashing with Matt after her sugar rush. Greyson and Amelia playing together at her third birthday party (hosted at Monkey Joe's in Appleton). Greyson enjoying the SUV Ride for just a quarter - score! Series of impromptu pictures Jake took of Mom Weiss. I must say they are quite beautiful shots! Just a quick video I threw together. Enjoy.

10.07.08 The Mother Load

noreply@blogger.com (Jake Weiss) — Wed, 08 Oct 2008 00:02:00 +0000

yeah, yeah...I know, but you have to understand. I've been really busy! No, seriously REAL BUSY! Anyways, I'm done apologizing. It has been an exciting summer. So exciting my head is spinning, well, not literally. But it feels like it. Okay, I digress, I'm turning the descriptions over to Shelle to write so here goes.... These six photos were the final black and white series that made it to this post. These were taken by Jake at Guys Weekend this summer in Pickerl, WI. According to Jake, these were taken around 4:30 am. Greyson admiring the trees in the parking lot of the New Zoo in Suamico, WI (near Green Bay). We believe this took place sometime in August. Greyson admiring the ground. Although this was not intended to be a portrait session, I was quite pleased with the photos Jake took of Greyson while waiting for Grandma and Grandpa Mac to arrive at the New Zoo. Admiring animals from a safe distance in Jake's arms. Riding the carousel with Grandma and Grandpa Mac. Catching a cool drink from the pool on a hot summer day. Scotch and Grey, in synch, quenching their thirst from the pool. In case you haven't noticed, Greyson really liked drinking from his pool. Does this make us bad parents for letting him? Playing with sidewalk chalk (it was red, hence the stain on his shirt). As you can tell, my admiration and desire to cuddle was much greater than Grey's. Here's another example of me stealing hugs. I LOVE this photo! Jake captured it over the weekend in September (yes, Grey is wearing a Halloween shirt). Here's another great photo Jake took of Grey. Sitting on the ottoman watching Yo Gabba Gabba on a school night. Thanks Grandma Mac for the Halloween PJ's! Random photo of Greyson. A hard earned beer after moving our neighbor's playground set into the back yard. Thanks a million Tony. In hindsight, I think it was probably a good idea you had no clue what you were getting into - or you would have never agreed to help. If it weren't for you, it's quite possible the playground set would still be at our neighbor's house. Cheers Tony! Thanks again; you are the best! Greyson showing his allegiance to Number 4. Thanks Shawn, Brandi & Loula-Rae for the great jersey. He still wears it weekly despite the fallout! A serious look from Greyson as he tries out his playground set. Hanging out in the ottoman top with his truck on a school night. This is what happens when I work late. You will see what I mean when you view the following photos. I was lucky enough to arrive home for clean up and bathtime. I must admit this is a pretty cool photo and probably the closest Grey will get to face painting for awhile. A sample of Grey's artwork. Petting the goals at the Little Farmer. Feeding the goats with Grandpa and Grandma Mac at the Little Farmer (TLF). Perusing the bounty of the pumpkin patch at TLF. Driving the tractor at TLF. Playing in the fountain at TLF. (Isn't my wife beautiful?) Walking with Papa Weiss to the park conveniently located across the street from their house in West Bend. Checking out the red racecar at the park with Oma Weiss. Enjoying the leaves at Papa & Oma Weiss' house. I love this photo too. It's Greyson walking in Oma & Papa Weiss' yard - heading to the park to look at the construction trucks. Here he's waiting for me to take him to the park. And here, he's deciding I took too long and starts to take off again. Uncle Matt, Auntie Stacey and Cousin/Niece Celia playing in the leaves. A great family photo. Our hay spoils for the scarecrow Jake is making to adorn the front yard in preparation for Halloween. Greyson posing for the camera with his pumpkin carved by Jake. He's apparently all business in his jammies. Smelling geraniums from our front flower box. Indian corn to welcome fall (and squirrels). Greyson has decided he prefers to pull ghosts from the front yard rather than leaving them for decoration. Taking the ghost for a tour of the yard. Sunday morning walk on the trail near our house, which overlooks the Fox River. The beginning of fall colors on the trail. A closer look at the color changes in action. Jake surprising us from his hiding place off the trail. An upshot of some great fall colors. Greyson's first pumpkin scooping session (and boy was it messy - we're still finding pumpkin seeds around the house). Taking a look at the remaining seeds and pumpkin guts. Checking out the paper (opposed to leaving it on the floor to collect the pumpkin seeds). The pumpkin post carving shot. Nice job Jaker! Greyson enjoying the flowers at the NEW Zoo. Until next time....

Okay, so I know I have been neglecting this thing for a while now. I've been so busy this has honestly been at the lowest of my priorities so far this summer. Between painting the house, enjoying the weather, working on the third floor and work. I can't seem to fit it all in. Anyways, I finally got to edit some photos and put them up. Unfortunately they are in no particular order. Maybe I'll find time to organize them later. Jake Grey's "Super Pose". I told you its been a while. These photos are from March. noreply@blogger.com (Jake Weiss) — Wed, 23 Apr 2008 01:50:00 +0000

It's difficult to believe that the month of April has managed to pass by so quickly. However, in an effort to catch up on our most recent happenings attached below are a bunch of pictures, which we hope you'll enjoy. . Thanks to Jake for spending so much time editing and updating the blog as I only can take credit for the captions. Greyson is in the midst of teething again, except this time he has six teeth trying to break through his gums. He's also started to sleep through the night (for the most part). However, this also means a bedtime of 7:00 pm and a rising time of 5:00 am! As a result, we're still tired but it's great to get a solid chunk of sleep each night. . We've spent most of our free time lately painting the third floor of our house as we attempt to convert it into a play/family room. As with most home renovation projects, it's taken longer and cost more than we expected, but has already proven to be well worth the minor investment. . Jake's birthday is quickly approaching so we'll do our best to post another update soon. Thanks for your continued interest in our monthly happenings and we hope to see you all in the near future. . Love, . Jake, Shelle & Greyson Some of the first signs of spring as seen from our back yard.... Laughs and fun outside after a long day at school and work.... Looking for Daddy.... Drawing with the crayons from Grandma and Grandpa Mc.... (thank you)! Showing off my Mickey Mouse Hat Grandma & Grandpa Mc brought me from Disneyland.... (thank you)! Smiling for the camera.... Breaking in the new carpeting.... Grey being goofy last weekend.... Grey with a more serious expression.... Cuddling together at home.... Jake and Grey bonding.... Enjoying the newly installed carpeting on the third floor (thanks Papa & Daddy)! Taking a quick break.... Papa installing carpeting in the office/reading room.... Greyson's new approach to teething - thumb sucking.... A closer look.... And yet another.... Enjoying the spring weather on a recent week day after school.... Exploring the back yard.... Looking serious.... Gaining ground.... Jake is probably right (Grey could use a haircut).... Still enjoying the outdoors.... Inspecting branches.... Random foot shot (ironically, I believe this photo was taken at dinner time last week).... Greyson posing with Papa in his Radio Flyer Wagon (thanks Papa & Oma)! Taking a walk this past weekend.... Licking the glass (still a favorite of Greyson's for some strange reason).... Grey enjoying a book in his Octopus chair from Uncle Shawn, Auntie Brandi & Cousin Loula-Rae.... Greyson asserting his independence....

Okay, so the month of January was a little overwhelming. Which is one of two reasons why I haven't updated the blog lately. The other reason is because my computer was in the shop. Anyways, I weeded through my overflowing memory cards and found some good shots of the events over the past month.

Eight Years ago.

Sonnet XVIII: Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day?

BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimmed;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance or nature’s changing course untrimmed.

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;

Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

The cold has certainly fallen upon us. I think Shelly and I had the quickest Christmas Tree purchase of the year. It literally took us no more than three minutes to make our decision (Of which we are completely satisfied). > > > Grandma Mc's Birthday Party. > > > Greyson & Luke appear to be new best friends. > > > We finally managed to get the tree decorated and as expected Greyson wants nothing more than to tear every piece of decoration from its branches. > > > ...and of course, this is what happens when you don't let him. > > > _________________________________________________________ An older video but a video nonetheless. 12.3.07 "Wreck" and "rise above"

noreply@blogger.com (Jake Weiss) — Tue, 04 Dec 2007 23:46:00 +0000

It's been another couple of crazy weeks. Greyson had surgery on his ears because of his ear infection. Immediately following that he returned to daycare in full health to be returned with a full-on case of the Rota Virus. Then Shelly and I caught it. Needless to say it hasn't been much fun; hence the lack of exciting pictures (as if they ever are). . . .

From Rites of Passage

by Robert Duncan

Something is taking place.

Horns thrust upward from the brow.

Hooves beat impatient where feet once were.

My son, youth grows alarming in your face.

Your innocent regard is cruelly charming to me now.

You bristle where my fond hand would stir

to stroke your cheek. I do not dare.

Irregular meters beat between your heart and mine.

Snuffling the air you take the heat and scan

the lines you take in going as if I were or were not there

and overtake me.

And where it seems but yesterday I spilld the wine,

you too grow beastly to become a man.

Peace, peace. I’ve had enough. What can I say

when song’s demanded? —I’ve had my fill of song?

My longing to sing grows full. Time’s emptied me.

And where my youth was, now the Sun in you grows hot, your day

is young, my place you take triumphantly. All along

it’s been for you, for this lowering of your horns in challenge. She

had her will of me and will not

let my struggling spirit in itself be free.
