Imeko-Afon Council Boss Sets Short and Medium Term Goal

The Chairman Transition Committee of Imeko-Afon Local Government has set short and medium term goals. Chief Olusola Ajani Oke led Committee has highlighted Roads Grading, Electrification, Education, Health & Water Supply as major agenda of the committee.

The Council Boss stressed the need to urgently embark on massive road grading across the 10 Wards of the Local Government. In his words, "before the rains, we need to as a matter of urgency grade major roads across the Local Government and open some other access roads" he said.

The Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) Mr Ogunjobi Segun, had earlier led the new Transition Committee to inspect Graders, Tractors and Caterpillars owned by the Local Government in preparation for the roads grading.

Chief Olusola Ajani Oke, a retired employee of the defunct NEPA reiterated his commitment to rural and urban electrification across Imeko-Afon Local Government. According to him, "where we need to energise the available Transformers, we will do so and where we need to extend poles to, we will equally ensure within the time frame that we have", he assured.

The Chairman assigned portfolios to his team and charged them to come up with blue prints that can be achieved in a short period. The Local Government Boss Chief Olusola Ajani Oke will oversee Works & Housing, Vice Chairman Princess Adedeji Fausat is to oversee Community Development, Education & Information Department while Mr. Femi Fatunmbi will oversee Health, Water & Environmental Services. Mr. Musbau Legitan is in charge of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Olalotan Oluwasegun is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Council.

The Chairman assured the people of Imeko-Afon quality service delivery and good governance. He therefore enjoined all and sundry to support this government by fulfilling their obligations as patriotic citizens. He affirmed that the new Government will run an open door system and carry all stakeholders along.

History and origin of Tupocracy

Tupocracy is a socio-political culture or doctrine invented by Dr. Godwin Akpan Amaowoh, a Nigerian Clergyman, in 2006 as the brainchild of his doctoral dissertation at Nigeria’s foremost institution of higher Education, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Faculty of the Social Sciences. The Dissertation Topic was An Understanding of Tupos in Pauline Letters on the Pastoral Ministry of the Church and its implication for Contemporary society. The concept was recognized by the Board of Examiners with the Rev. Fr. Prof. Vincent Nyoyoko of the University of Port Harcourt as External Examiner/Chairman. The Board scored him Distinction, being a huge contribution to knowledge and recommended that the concept be published as an acceptable political doctrine. Hence, in 2007, Dr. Amaowoh published the book, Tupocracy: Leadership by example for the Church and Civil society. Subsequent editions, including the current one (4th edition, 2018) carried the name of his PhD Supervisor, the Rev. Prof. E. N. Chinwoku (formerly Onwu) as Co-author. For inventing Tupocracy, Dr. Amaowoh was inducted into the Nigerian Books of Record, published by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture which saw it as a big honour to Nigeria and Africa at large.

Full definition of Tupocracy: Tupocracy is a system of government involving people who lead by positive example based on transparency, integrity, altruism, patriotism and godly character which is worthy of emulation by their colleagues and followers. Tupocracy is one word for leadership by example, coined from two Greek words, tupos (example, pattern, model which is worthy of emulation) and Krateia (government, leadership, rulership or administration), in the family of Democracy, Autocracy, Aristocracy, etc.

Tupocracy as a political doctrine: One of the major challenges which the world is facing today is the absence of good leadership. This has precipitated poverty, insecurity, instability, war, ethnic tensions, criminality, corruption in the land and dissatisfaction and despair among the citizenry in many nations. People are looking for role models in politics, religion, civil service, the academia, business, the Private sector and even in the family but they are grossly in short supply. The answer to this delima is found in Tupocracy which is rightly predicated on the age-old axiom that “example is better than precept.” Based on this, the Tupocract says, “Emulate me in all things”; “Do as I do” and not “Do as I say.” He does not contradict himself or what he says as a leader by negative example in conduct, ip so facto, he is a role model. The beauty of Democracy, as a world acclaimed political doctrine, lies in Tupocracy. Dr. Amaowoh has therefore recommended Tupocracy to be adopted as the handmaid of Democracy, without which Democracy becomes “Dem all cracy”, meaning, “Governance by insane people.”

The Need and Importance of Tupocracy in Governance: Tupocracy ensures transparency, integrity and moral rectitude in governance/leadership. Governance or leadership should not be an all comer’s affair. It should be for people whose lifestyles are worthy of emulation whether they are Presidents, Governors, Legislators, Judicial Officers, Ministers, Commissioners or Chairmen of Local Government Areas, Councilors, Mayors, Police Officers, Military or Paramilitary Officers, traditional Rulers, Heads of Schools, Managers of Industries or Religious Leaders. Tupocracy earns leaders high reputation and respect because followers have nothing against them. It will be a huge disappointment that those we address as “His Excellency”, “His Honour”, Distinguished”, “Honourable”, etc, go to jail for corrupt practices or they hide behind impunity privilege to commit heinous and atrocious crimes.

Furthermore, Tupocracy ensures equality before the law because those in governance will show example in obedience to the laws of the land. So far, although leadership by example has been a household word, its impact has not been felt like Democracy and others. With this invention, Tupocracy will become the vehicle to popularize the maxim. Thus, Tupocratic institutions will be built alongside Democratic institutions and Politicians may say in their manifestoes that they will lead tupocratically because they are Tupocrats. Wrong styles of leadership will be branded as untupocratic. One can imagine the level of sanity, peace, prosperity, security, progress and stability that will be experienced under Tupocratic governments as there will be sanity in the electoral system, awards and executions of contracts, the independence of the Judiciary, being free from manipulation by the Executive and the Legistrature, etc.

Admittedly, the fight against corruption in any nation can never be won unless their leaders lead by example in all matters, namely: financial matters, award of contracts, electoral matters, patriotism and the Rule of Law. Based on transparency, Tupocracy will checkmate greed, nepotism, personal aggrandizement, ethnic chauvinism, embezzlement of public funds and injustice in the process of governance. Tupocracy will bring about the practice of the Golden Rule, “Do to others what you would want other people to do to you.” Tupocrats are leaders who justify the saying that leaders should be above board. The bane of any society is the preponderance of unscrupulous and unconscionable leaders who have thrown moral values to the winds in their leadership styles.

Hopefully, Tupocracy will take its seat with other systems of governments like Democracy, Autocracy, Oligarchy, Aristocracy, Bureaucracy, etc. Tupocracy is a wake-up call as well as a moral guide for all leaders, whether in Religion or civil society, who need the respect, loyalty, welfare and co-operation of their followers. There is a popular saying that when we take care of our character, our reputation will take care of itself. Leaders should know that they are Mentors who should mentor followers by positive example in all walks of life. Unfortunately, in most nations one bad leader will hand over to another bad leader to sustain the vicious circle of bad leadership and its attendant unpleasant consequences.

Biblical examples of Tupocrats and what they said.
1. Abraham: When there was to be a conflict between Abraham and his nephew and mentee, Lot, Abraham as a man of peace said, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left." (Gen 13:7-9)
This is an example of making concessions to avoid conflict.
2. Joseph: Joseph was not vindictive to punish or kill his brothers who maltreated him but he forgave them and provided a safe place for them in Egypt: “Joseph said to them, Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones." And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.” (Gen 13:7-9)

This is an example of non-vindictiveness and forgiveness by leaders.

3. Samuel: As a judge and prophet in Israel, Samuel was just and transparent in all things and so he said in his valedictory speech, “ Now Samuel said to all Israel: "Indeed I have heeded your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you. And now here is the king, walking before you; and I am old and gray headed, and look, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my childhood to this day. Here I am. Witness against me before the Lord and before His anointed: Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I received any bribe with which to blind my eyes? I will restore it to you." And they said, "You have not cheated us or oppressed us, nor have you taken anything from any man's hand." Then he said to them, "The Lord is witness against you, and His anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand."( 1 Sam 12:1-5).

Can the contemporary leader be bold to address his citizens and staff like this, including Asset declaration?

4. Jesus Christ: The Lord Jesus Christ was exemplary in love, compassion, humility, obedience to God and the laws of the land, righteousness, forgiveness, mercy, goodness and in all good works. He said, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. (John 13:12-17):

This is an example of love, humility and service to humanity which He urged His disciples to emulate.

The Lord also said this about loving one another as he loved them, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:34-35).

5. Paul: St. Paul taught in many passages of the Bible that people should emulate him, “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me.”

(I Cor. 4:15-16) He said again, “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. (1 Cor. 11:1)

6. Peter: St. Peter showed positive example as a pastoral leader and urged other leaders to do same and not lead as Dictators, “Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.” (1 Pet. 5:2-3).

Contemporary emphasis on Tupocracy

T. C. Oden in his book Classical Pastoral Care (2000:174) opined that the character and moral formation of those who provide spiritual care must be sound enough to elicit confidence in the care of receivers, that one cannot correct something in another when in oneself it has remained uncorrected.

Again, he says, quoting Baxter, that people should take heed to themselves, lest their example contradict their doctrine, lest they unsay with their lives what they say with their tongues. They should do as they say.

In the same vein, Hurst (1955:38) in his book And He gave Teachers, quoted Emerson, “What you are thunders so loud I cannot hear what you say.”

Most of those who talk about leadership by example in the contemporary period are of the opinion that “the preceptor must keep the precept.” This is the maxim of Tupocracy, whether in the religious or civil society. In Tupocracy, the Character Ethic Paradigm supercedes the Personality Ethic Paradigm of leadership. It will be absurd for one who is a thief to tell his followers to stop stealing. It will be difficult for a proud leader to teach his followers humility. It will be difficult for a corrupt leader to stop corruption in his government. Even a leader who does not show example in punctuality will find it difficult to fight lateness to duty among his staff. The world needs Tupocracy for peace, order and prosperity to reign.

It can be daunting when your list of New Year’s Resolutions is as long as your holiday shopping list. In addition to the post-holiday slump, not being able to keep your resolutions by February, March or even late January may increase your anxiety. When your holiday decorations are packed up and stored away, the frustration of an unused gym membership or other reminders of failed resolutions can make the later winter months feel hopeless.

However, it is important to remember that the New Year isn’t meant to serve as a catalyst for sweeping character changes. It is a time for people to reflect on their past year’s behavior and promise to make positive lifestyle changes. “Setting small, attainable goals throughout the year, instead of a singular, overwhelming goal on January 1 can help you reach whatever it is you strive for,” says psychologist Lynn Bufka, PhD. “Remember, it is not the extent of the change that matters, but rather the act of recognizing that lifestyle change is important and working toward it, one step at a time.”

By making your resolutions realistic, there is a greater chance that you will keep them throughout the year, incorporating healthy behavior into your everyday life. APA offers these tips when thinking about a News Year’s resolution:
Start small

Make resolutions that you think you can keep. If, for example, your aim is to exercise more frequently, schedule three or four days a week at the gym instead of seven. If you would like to eat healthier, try replacing dessert with something else you enjoy, like fruit or yogurt, instead of seeing your diet as a form of punishment.
Change one behavior at a time

Unhealthy behaviors develop over the course of time. Thus, replacing unhealthy behaviors with healthy ones requires time. Don’t get overwhelmed and think that you have to reassess everything in your life. Instead, work toward changing one thing at a time.
Talk about it

Share your experiences with family and friends. Consider joining a support group to reach your goals, such as a workout class at your gym or a group of coworkers quitting smoking. Having someone to share your struggles and successes with makes your journey to a healthier lifestyle that much easier and less intimidating.
Don’t beat yourself up

Perfection is unattainable. Remember that minor missteps when reaching your goals are completely normal and OK. Everyone has ups and downs; resolve to recover from your mistakes and get back on track.
Ask for support

Accepting help from those who care about you and will listen strengthens your resilience and ability to manage stress caused by your resolution. If you feel overwhelmed or unable to meet your goals on your own, consider seeking professional help. Psychologists are uniquely trained to understand the connection between the mind and body. They can offer strategies as to how to adjust your goals so that they are attainable, as well as help you change unhealthy behaviors and address emotional issue.

With me on my Inspirational segment this time around is a fast rising young artiste , who is popularly known as ' Fela is back' aka RAPZYRITA .

Could you introduce yourself briefly to us?

RapzyRita : My Name is Gift Osaretin aka RapzyRita , born And breed In Kaduna , called the Kind of My Sound Afro Fusion.

ATJ: So when did your music career kick start and why Afro fusion or would I say Afro pop?

RapzyRita: "Actually my Music career started at a very tender age but I recorded my first single at the age of 10 in church!!" I can't place my self in a particular box, that's why I call my sound Afro fusion because it's a combined sound from different genre.

ATJ: Do the music artiste Fela inspire your craft in any way? And what are the nick names your fans has given you out there?

RapzyRita:

Growing up was an amazing experience for me because my late grandma was a big fan of Fela kuti ,so there was no day she wouldn't play fela songs and she always forced me to dance to the tune. So since then I got use to fela lyrics.. But My Real inspiration came from king sunny Ade and Michael bolton!! Listening to their songs always motivates me to make good records. And as for the nickname , fans gave me Fela Is Back because they fall in love with my sound just as they fell for Fela in his time

ATJ: So you mean the nick 'Fela is back' wasn't your idea in the first place ?

RapzyRita : No, actually I always wanted to be me. There was a record I made Titled "ORIBURUKU" that was when fans realised I am the true son of Afro beat!! They eventually gave me Fela Is Back On Stage.

ATJ: So what are the recent development your music life has gone through, have you been going on tours ? Do your songs gets to be aired to public hearings and do you have an album yet ?

RapzyRita: I Did My Concert Last year december in Kaduna and then I went on a radio tour in Kaduna. This year I went on Abuja radio Tour and recently my new single "OwoNikoko" is receiving a massive air play in Abuja. Now am just spending much time in the studio because i am about to take my Sound to Lagos market , i believe good music are still trending despite the shaku sound. But am not planning on dropping an album , just singles.

ATJ: You said despite the shaku sound.. do have any thing against the shakushaku sound/song?

RapzyRita: You know the industry right now is not really giving good music attention except you are giving the street all they want.
But i am really going to be working hard and will put my good music to their faces until they can't resist my sound.

ATJ: So how has it been working hard to make your music reach the masses?

RapzyRita: Not That Easy!! But trust me hardwork pays off.. Every year my fan base increases due to the songs I bring out . So I so much believe soon I will be getting to the mainstream.

ATJ: How many songs have you Produced so far?

RapzyRita : Can't really Predict the number of songs I have in the studio so far, because I record like every night and day. But i have released Four singles this year and more is coming.

ATJ: What is most of songs themed on, what are they about, what is the most consistent message in them?

RapzyRita : Sometimes I record songs based on what i have been through in life especially through thick and Thin. And I mostly get inspired by people around me either by their love affair or hustle.. Trust me I just want to make music for Everyone Out There.

ATJ: So what has been your major obstacle so far?

RapzyRita : My biggest challenge right now that I know is not really a challenge to God is
Just waiting for the right management to push my music Far.

ATJ : So where and which place do you look forward to reach through in Lagos. Which areas or meduim are you looking forward to connect through with Lagos city, in your previous statement you said you were looking forward to bringing your music to Lagos ?

RapzyRita : Last year I did my radio tour in kaduna

Then I did my second radio tour in Abuja.. So am about to do the same in Lagos so that is what i have really been working on badly For months now , but I know with God things are coming through real soon and am coming to lag with Talent And Grace.

ATJ: Give us a brief about your background; education and a little about your family?

RapzyRita : Edo boy born and brought up in Kaduna. Went to Kaduna polytechnic . If ii a going to give credit to any human on earth after God it is My Mum because I grew up with a single parent. She made me believe women are truly powerful!! And i am grateful to God for her.

ATJ: Are you signed under any record label yet?

RapzyRita : Nope still an independent artiste . But I feel a major deal coming!!🙏

ATJ: So what has been your most challenging and embarrassing moment so far in your career?

RapzyRita : Lol I don't really like to talk about that experience trust me.
ok, so it was a club I got invited to perform in some years back!! When I got to this event the bouncer actually bounced me out of the club, I was really trying to explain that I was invited but he slapped me and said i am too small to be in this club!!! And on my way back home because it was about 2:30am ,i got arrested by the police for walking around that late hour .That night was frustrating.

ATJ: That's serious. I'm sure good times has overtaken those memories.
What advice do you have for fast rising artists like you ?

RapzyRita : Just keep your head up and be ready to take any disappointment you see on the way!! Be Original and Be Yourself!! Blowing doesn't come over night, it takes Consistency and Grace!! Pray we all win.

ATJ : ok! It's nice having you here, greater heights we pray.

1. You’re treating a marathon like a sprint.

Slow and steady habit change might not be sexy, but it’s a lot more effective than the “I want it ALL and I want it NOW!” mentality. Small changes stick better because they aren’t intimidating (if you do it right, you’ll barely even notice them!).

If you have a lot of bad habits today, the last thing you need to do is remodel your entire life overnight. Want to lose weight? Stop it with the crash diets and excessive exercise plans. Instead of following a super restrictive plan that bans anything fun, add one positive habit per week. For example, you could start with something easy like drinking more water during your first week. The following week, you could move on to eating 3 fruits and veggies every day. And the next week, you could aim to eat a fistful of protein at every meal.

2. You put the cart before the horse.

“Supplementing” a crappy diet is stupid, so don’t even think about it. Focus on the actions that produce the overwhelming amount of results. If it’s not important, don’t worry about it.

3. You don’t believe in yourself.

A failure to act can cripple you before you leave the starting line. If you’ve tried (and failed) to set a New Year’s resolution (or several) in the past, I know it might be hard to believe in yourself. Doubt is a nagging voice in your head that will resist personal growth with every ounce of its being. The only way to defeat doubt is to believe in yourself. Who cares if you’ve failed a time or two? This year, you can try again (but better this time).

4. Too much thinking, not enough doing.

The best self-help book in the world can’t save you if you fail to take action. Yes, seek inspiration and knowledge, but only as much as you can realistically apply to your life. If you can put just one thing you learn from every book or article you read into practice, you’ll be on the fast track to success.

5. You’re in too much of a hurry.

If it was quick-and-easy, everybody would do it, so it’s in your best interest to exercise your patience muscles.

9. You have no social support.

It can be hard to stay motivated when you feel alone. The good news? You’re not alone: far from it. Post a status on Facebook asking your friends if anybody would like to be your gym or accountability buddy. If you know a co-worker who shares your goal, try to coordinate your lunch time and go out together so you’ll be more likely to make positive decisions. Join a support group of like-minded folks on Facebook, LinkedIn, or elsewhere on the internet. Strength in numbers is powerful, so use it to your advantage.

10. You know your what but not your why.

The biggest reason why most New Year’s resolutions fail: you know what you want but you not why you want it.

Yes: you want to get fit, lose weight, or be healthy… but why is your goal important to you? For example:

Do you want to be fit so you can be a positive example that your children can admire and look up to?

Welcome back to this INSPIRATIONAL segment! INTERVIEW WITH ATJ .Hmm..... I can smell Christmas already! , Welcome to the ember months of REALISATIONS ! , I remain your one and only ATJ!
So ....ok! With me on my Inspirational segment; interview with ATJ this time around , Is a fast rising artist, song writer and rapper , The CEO of Black kings Global Entertainment JUSTIN KONK!

ATJ: Could you give us a brief background profile of who you are ? Who is Justin Konk?

JUSTIN KONK : Thank you very much for having me as your guest. I am Justin Konk, an artist, singer, songwriter, rapper and all round entertainer who is signed to the record label Black Kings Global Entertainment.

ATJ : Can we get to know your state of origin and little about your educational background ?

JUSTINKONK : Yeah. I am from Delta state and was born in Warri. I had my primary and secondary education in ijebu-ode. I then proceeded to study Biochemistry at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun state.

ATJ: when did your music career kick start and how has it been so far, doing those 3things together ? singing , song writing and rapping ? and least i forget handling the position of CEO of black kings Global entertainment .

JUSTIN KONK : Basically, I have been around music all my life, and I ventured into doing music right after my secondary education. But my musical career didn't kickstart professionally until sometime in 2015.

It's really not been easy as funding has been a big obstacle to progress. It's not easy finding sponsors or having to wait for one. So, I am an independent artist, and the challenges have even been more, of course. But my team and I are pushing throughand are hopeful and confident our struggles would very soon start paying off. Well I believe people set limits for themselves as to what they want or like to do, but I am not one to set limits for myself. I believe it's the Creator that blesses us with various gifts and talents, and with grace I can do whatever I put my mind in to do. So, having to shuffle between singing, songwriting and rapping has just been by grace, as long as I'm already determined and have it in my mind to do, GOD perfects it for me. Then as the CEO, the work load is even much more and exhausting. But like I always say, we can do whatever we put our minds in to do, then GOD assists in perfecting everything for us.

ATJ: Wow, that's a great one right there...so you are into Afro pop if i am right? where then does the reggae flare in your music originates from.. What inspires it?

JUSTIN KONK: Thank you very much. So many things inspire me. Yeah, I'm apparently an Afro Pop artist but I'm not limited by that. To me, reggae music goes deeper than what it's perceived as. I believe it's the kind of music that can bring Afrikans back to that mental state of love and peace, appreciating oneself and showing gratitude and reverence for the most high. Just as the great icon Bob Marley has shown to the world by bringing people from all races together in Peace with reggae music, it's of my opinion that reggae music can change the world or at least bring Afrikans out of that mental bondage we seem to have incurred upon ourselves. Reggae music has been Afrika's number one sound as research had shown it was the song that was sung by Afrikan slaves being taken to the Americas. So, it's only natural that I love reggae music or that I have its vibe cos it's actually our sound.

ATJ : So i guess that was what also inspired the dred?

JUSTIN KONK : No, I had always wanted to keep my dreads as an Afrikan child right from my teenage years. But our society's opinions have not been so favorable to me, using my parents at home and my teachers at school to always hinder my decisions to have my hair grown long. Until I eventually found total freedom to showcase my more creative side as an artistI as well attach Spiritual meanings to having my hair grown long.

ATJ : Thats deep .Why Justin Konk, how did you come by the stage name? And what is the real name?

JUSTIN KONK : Yeah. Well my real name is Justin Ufuoma Igbinake while I actually formed the acronym KONK from Koncentrated On Natural Kinesis. Although I also did form words with my name JUSTIN - Joint Unswerving Stances Tackle Idiotic Notions. This way, I believe I can get people to bring about some changes to the world in their own individual ways.

ATJ: Talking about 'Got a feeling ' what inspired it and what was it all about ?

JUSTIN KONK : Got A Feeling is my third released song, the first being "Chilling With Money" and the second "Go Down". Anyway, Got A Feeling" was inspired by my being in need of someone to spend good time with. It was about taking my lady out to adventurous places and having some quality times together.

ATJ: Ok. Is there is any foreign artist that influences you or your craft?

JUSTIN KONK : Yes, absolutely. I've got a lot of them but some are Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Tupac, Michael Jackson, Kanye West etc

ATJ : That's good to know . So if it was not music you were making, what other career would you have gone for?

JUSTIN KONK : Haha, this is a big one. I've always been an avid student of the sciences, and I surely would have worked to have a great career in medicine if I wasn't doing music.

ATJ : Wow..What aspect of medicine to be precise?

JUSTIN KONK: Surgery to be precise. I have been more fascinated with neurochemistry, so I would have worked hard to become a neurosurgeon

ATJ : Smiles..and I am very sure that would have turned out great. Can you tell us more about the relationship between you and your producer , Ezzykeys how has it been! working with him?

JUSTIN KONK : My relationship with my producer, Ezzykeyz goes a very long way. We have known each other since our secondary school days. In fact, when I got admitted into the university to study Biochemistry, he was one of those who always told me I had something special to deliver to the world as an artist, and that I should come to his studio in Lagos so he produces me for free, lol but that was how much he believed in me. I never took him serious then until very much later. He's been one of my greatest motivators as a musician. Much more interesting is the fact that He and I actually come from the same state, Delta state, so he is actually my blood brother from a different family.

ATJ: That's a tight one.... Do you have foreign fans?

JUSTIN KONK : Yea, you'd say. Yes, I've got foreign fans, it's building up 😊

ATJ : Then i guess your game is on ! Now bringing a little informality to the flow, there is a particular song of yours I actually like. I think you featured someone but you took only to the rapping aspect of the song. The lyrics had a wording that says ' oluwa don bless me' at its end, with something like 'All i want is.....' at the beginning.. Do you get the song? If yes, please tell me more about it and tell us about the artist you featured.

JUSTIN KONK: Thank you very much. It's alright. Yea, I get the song, it's titled "Mulla" and I featured George-K, an artist who was formerly managed by my label. We already have a refix of the song with him taking only the intro and choruses, I did the verses and outro. The song would be in my album when it's released. I'm glad you like it.

ATJ : You are always welcome.Tell us about your freshest work coolest & baddest?

JUSTIN KONK: My newly released piece of work "Coolest &Baddest" is a song that has this unusual vibe to it. I had the inspiration one day while I was at my elder bother's house in lekki. I recorded the vibes with my phone, then when I got back home I played it to my producer Ezzykeyz. He really liked it and connected with the vibe straight away. We didn't waste much time, we went into the studio to start its production and that was how "Coolest & Baddest" came about. To me, it is the hottest hip-hop song ever released in Nigeria. A video for it is underway.

ATJ : Great. So you are saying we should be expecting a video from you soon?

JUSTIN KONK : Yes, by GOD's grace. You should be expecting the video.

ATJ : On a final note, what advise do you have for career people out there, who have a passion but are still contemplating on how to go about managing it with their white collar jobs. What do you have for them?

JUSTIN KONK : First of all, I would like to say to anyone who has the dream of having a career in a particular field that it is never too late to change your profession or start the career of your dreams. It's really not easy changing careers, and I know it might seem very hard at first. But one has to believe in him/herself, be confident, staying motivated and inspired at all times and never losing focus by always keeping eyes on the prize. There might be people who don't believe in ones dreams, but as long as you do not listen or succumb to outside voices and forces, as long as you stay committed, GOD will surely uplift one in his or her chosen field and very soon you'd have those who don't believe in you famzing you. Lol.

Samuel Jimoh popularly known as Oluwa Samuel, has been in the music scene since 2004. He is known for his help to humanity at large through his music career. He shares with us his story and gives us a glimpse through his musical journey in an exclusive interview he had with ATJ over the weekend.

ATJ: Its nice meeting you sir. Can you briefly introduce yourself to us ?

Oluwa Samuel : My names are Samuel Oluwaseun Jimoh , i am a Music Producer , an artist and an audio consultant

, based in Lagos Nigeria.

ATJ: Oluwa Samuel is of which native and state ?

Oluwa Samuel : I'm a native of Alimosho local Government of Lagos State. Which makes me a original Lagosian.

ATJ: Can you give us a brief background on our your growing up was ?

Oluwa Samuel : Growing for me was tough, being the first born of the family of 4, with much expectations from your parents .
It has not been easy honestly but we thank God for His Grace. My dad was always against my music career right from childhood . He is this kind of person that keeps saying you must further your education and quit singing around.
I always sneaked out of the house with Kenny blaq

who has been my friend from childhood to attend musical concerts. Sometime i had to lie to my dad that we had vigil in church . But the story has changed today, music puts food on the table for us, now he regrets that if only he knew better ,he would have supported me More.

ATJ: As a musical artist ,what inspires your type of music and what are your music mainly themed on?

Oluwa Samuel : My environment

, the society inspires and influences my music. My kind of music impacts and add moral values to the society; thereby waking our subconsciousness and of which many artists have failed in that regards.

ATJ: That is great to know! Are you the CEO of Hills records ?

Oluwa Samuel : No . I'm the official Sound Engineer for the record label and also the A&R for the label.

ATJ: About your newly released song '' Don't Give Up ''

what inspired the song and how was the production process?
Oluwa Samuel : The reality of things in Nigeria, the hardship, suffering, the insecurity in Land inspired me to write the song. It's a song of hope and motivation ; to revive the Nigerian people. I produced the song myself. Recording the song was a bit challenging because the song is of a country music genre, so I needed it to have a African feel. The guitar was played live, with no sequence. In a nutshell, i actually mixed and Mastered the song myself.

ATJ: That's a good one. What inspired you to go into music and how has it been so far ?

Oluwa Samuel : I have been singing professionally since 2004, I used to sing in a live band then, we go for shows,we do recording projects. In 2008 i join a voice of salvation mass choir ,where I functioned as their Alto singer,. at the same time in my Church choir i was helping the church choir win music competitions and that was how i got to build my self.
In 2010 i
took a break in the music scene, i wouldn't really call it a break anyway, because i was still in the music circle. I had to learn a Craft in sound engineering , which also helped me understand the production process of music. I have been learning more about the music industry in Nigeria of recent, because talent is not enough.

ATJ: Talent is not enough ! That's a truth. so who is Oluwa Samuel when he is not an Audio Engineer or an Artist. what else do you do for fun?

Oluwa Samuel: I read and attend music conferences and seminars that would add value to my career, to keep me relevant in the entertainment industry.

ATJ: That's great, though i was expecting you to mention family time. Smiles, how has it been being focusing on your career and at the same time being a family man?

Oluwa Samuel: Lol 😊😊 . Funny enough , my family is a music family too. My wife

studied music and my son loves dancing . Music is fun for us, we do it with ease driven by passion. And when we are less busy, we attend musical concerts , comedy shows as a family . That how we spend our family time.

ATJ: Smiles and that is quality family time ! .How soon should we expecting another song from Oluwa Samuel?

Oluwa Samuel : Soonest and i will also be doing a lot of collaboration too . Just watch out.

ATJ: What is your relationship with kenny blaq?

Oluwa Samuel: Kenny blaq is my friend, we have been friends since 1994 . So we are more like blood brothers.

Most times in life , we find ourselves in tight situations , the availability of things is never equal to our needs or wants, but when we look, think and understand beyond

the surfaced reality , we realise every situation is an opportunity for an unforeseen light to resurface and be recognised .

Now lets talk business ! someway , somehow in the business world, most especially in the creative industry , there comes times we find ourselves in limited situations , ones that can be trying and tough to pull through . clients would give less for more ; though most times they have a convincing explanation for this. but what do you do as an entrepreneur ,whom being self employed on one side is already a tough one to handle . You don’t want to get emotions involved , you know, they says it rubs off!

at the same time you don’t want to lose yourself totally in the financial race . so how then do you balance emotions and business . This one has a simple answer , you simply settle for something that would serve both ends. Of which in a nutshell is accepting their offer and adding some conditions that would ease your efforts to it .

Now lets get to the thinking .. You’ve accepted their offer and given your conditions , now you are left to face your reality . Reality on the other hand sounds like a nightmare in this context .lol. so how do you go about the thinking . Just like the first paragraph instigated ,

Remember your small start up and compliment your new work . Consider how you had to collect cheap money for small works and you made sure you convinced your clients to the best you are today. They couldn’t have been that bad , they brought you to your today . Bring back the disco

Perhaps , you could also try this. As a entrepreneur , it is good to have an understudy

, don’t mind my choice of word ( Too much time spent in the movie world) . A friend of mine once said ‘’any business that can’t keep running when you are asleep , is not a business ‘’. work and employ in a way that you could have peace even in the heat of activities . On a typical Eke market day,
Market women arranged their goods;
In a sequential way.
Hawkers trade their goods,
Like a prostitute who trades her legs for cash!

A well garnished horses just arrived,
In the midst of a melee van,
It was adorned a nomenclature called "jackie."
Jackie stomach was drawn open
By the mighty sword of the slaughter man.

The prospective buyers; mostly women,
Surrounded the area,
As if it were a female economy.
The onlookers converged in their hundreds,
Trying to catch a glimpse of the jungle justice,
Meted out to jackie
And also bid farewell to a great gem !

There I was in the milieu,
It coincides with the popular Eke market day,
As I walked brisky without my shoes on,
Like a thief that just stole condoms!
I saw hefty guys offloading bags of Garri,
Joyous buyers gathered in their lines
When they learnt the price of Garri just dwindled in sharp decline.

Young and Restless ladies,
Defacate the air with heavy perfumes,
As if it was their last day on earth,
They wriggled and wiggled in joy
To the sweet melody oozing out
From the D.J speakers.

Shots on Shots of palmwine
Grabbed the wise ones mind,
As they reminisce on their youthful dine,
Telling tales of twilight,
Of how they wine to the waist of village girls,
Most time in the state of drunkenness,
What a mess !

I met a sage
Who doubles as a dotard,
I grumbled in silence,
He spoke quintessential English language,
One that made me ask if he was a professor of English language ?

He recalls a bitter-sweet experience,
One that relegate common sense,
Of how his families use the free gift of nature; herbs and juju,

I want every youth to painstakingly read this article which consist of a brief story of my boss and how he started from the ground zero to hero. But I will like to start with a quote from the phenomenal JOHN OBIDI "Start with what you have for what you have is plenty."

Based on the above premise,I had a boss who sat me down and told me everything about how he started from scratch with no capital and how today he has business worth millions of Naira.

The journey according to him started when he finished school(H.N.D), his dream was to join the Nigerian Airforce. So he quickly bought the form and applied. After several failed attempts, he finally made up his mind not to try again. He settled to learn Laptop Repairs in computer village, Lagos from a popular man who has trained hundreds of people how to repair and sells Laptops in that same computer village. A year after the training he was given Freedom. He quickly started his own business in a small kiosk that some of us today thinks it's demeaning of our status as graduate who have been conditioned into believing that a job in banks,government agencies and oil companies awaits us after graduation.

My Oga started small( A KIOSK) Do you remember ?? Today that same man is blessed by the special grace of God with the best things of life a responsible man could ever pray for(good wife,children,house,cars and a thriving business.) His office design alone of recent cost at least a million naira not to talk of his business, I recently paid him a visit and I was shocked that he had changed to another design from the one I knew before I left for service. The youth of this age must wake up to the sad but interesting reality that government no longer holds the key to their success. Do you even know the age of the creator of this Facebook community ? Do you know the age of mark zuckerberg when he founded Facebook ?? Yet you keep on complaining of the government, parents not providing you with the necessary things you need for your life to move forward. Did you know that the popular computer company Hewlett Packard (HP) was founded with just $538 only as at then,even Apple was founded by Steve Jobs with only $1309 both in a garage ? Incase you don't know that is a piece of information you can use. When next you think,think big and start small according to Ben Carson.

I know you all watch most of these celebrities who claimed to be living this fancy and trouble free life, but have you ever listened to them tell you their story ? How they started from nothing to something ? When you start small,you make all the mistake that will in turn shape you and your future,business. You also gain lots of experience when you start small. In today's Nigeria,there are a lot of our youths who engage in frauds,illicit activities,drugs to get money when they should have invested such time into more meaningful and impactful venture. I am sure if you've read the story of some of the personality mentioned above, you would see how they started from scratch with nothing and how they arrived where they are today. Why must you wait when you can start up something ? Do you know you can learn those skills even while studying? Have you ever wondered why wedding works and marriages rarely do?

Most times , focusing so much on the monetary value of our work as an event planner or third party vendor gets us carried away from our humane responsibilities . we rarely care if the wedding we planned works . Last two weeks during the EMN 10TH Edition @eventmarketnigeria of meet and greet ,one of the speakers Debbie Akwara , asked a question , she asked if any event planner or vendor had ever thought of doing an extra promo of a baby shower planning or child's 1st year birthday as part of the benefit of patronising them.

Off course hearing that would make one question yourself on where you've actually been missing it . The truth is , since the cake is sweet already , everyone at most times forget the little icing that could make a difference . I'm sure no one thought of adding icing to a cake for a while until someone thought of it eventually . The funny part is , the awesome design carved out of a cake's icing is what actually attracts us to the cake the most ,before the content (cake) is savored.

Have you ever wondered if a marriage could survive if only much effort is put into it as much as the efforts put into its planning .

This is where i talk about How to become a celebrity. Many think few are already chosen for this role and so its impossible to become one , while many get discouraged on their way to attaining it . The truth is , the greater obstacle lies in turning back , failure always lies in stopping and not continuing , a stop defines failure while continuous trials is just a yet to be defined success . 1. Be your own fan before the real fans arrive

Every beauty you see in people's growth today is as a result of having themselves as their number one fan . Many will get tired cheering you up, many will get busy , many will be depressed by their own stories , you are a motivation to many ; so therefore they can't be there for you always to be your cheerleader . But when you assume your role perfectly before your fame arrives , you tend to glow , grow and groom yourself towards having a life of a celebrity . There's a Graveyard,
Just a Town;
The grasses are overgrown
The trees are dead and brown
From the look of the dead flora

It's about a mile from joy
The fence is almost gone
It's never going to get mistaken
for good old forest lawn
There's not a stone of granite
But stones of grief

The Town was founded a fertile land
With versatile hands
Shaped of a golden race
Who begot plenteous maize
Enough to feed the birds
Hungry for bread

Blessed with fortune
The resources often
Galvanised by living souls
Not dead soles
Whose existence is like dust
The wind takes on a journey

But,

A graveyard
full of tombs
Garden of withered roses
Where silence cries

A deserted place, where
Residents returned to the earth
Among other memorials
Who had long abandoned their place of birth

It is a graveyard
Where cemeteries are inaugurated
Inplace of companies,
Where flowers are laid
Instead of vegetation

A grave land
Where the yards
Are measured 6feet deep
After the collapse of the 6feets and feets

A home for the dead
Where epitaph are like billboards,
An advertisement of the dead
Necessarily placed to speak the dead
Whose body had been registered to the earth

Brown wet clinging clay lies,
Heaped by the side of a black hollow
Waiting for another invited guest
By death
As the bell tolls, mournfully-
Broken headstones speckle

In a graveyard of memories
I find myself,
Searching for something
For us

Seeing our greatyard like a graveyard
Where tears like rain
Come in season
To wet the dead soil;
Tombs built
After the erection of bombs

I thought it was a potter's field
for those destitute and prostitute,
But, upon close examination
I have discovered so much more

The town is neglected
There's no body here at rest
from since the town was started
laid in this hallowed nest
No one cares about them

But in this field, the dead will lie
So, they'll sleep soft here forever
And dream of life forever more
In their death

Shall our Town become A Graveyard?
Far be it!
There are homes for the dead
Let our Town continue to live
As we tender it a garden,
Not render it a graveyard.
