Here it is, Nasi Kandar Jamal Mohamed, also known as Nasi Ganja (due to it's addictive taste and line of customers), The stall is situated somewhere behind the Telekom Building along Jalan Bagan Luar in Butterworth, or simply opposite the MPSP community field. It starts at 11:00PM and ends at 6:00AM.

Let's see more.

This is the stall where everything is placed and served. Customers line a long line, then pick their favorite dishes to be served on rice.

The long line of people queue for their turn. Please be patient.

At your turn, just simply pick from any of your favorite dishes, ranging from beef rendang, fried chicken, mutton kurma, steamed ladies fingers, boiled egg, squid eggs, and many types of other curries! Pay here as well.

After paying for the meal, head to any empty table and be seated. Somebody will take your drink order.

Me seated right at the end corner, getting ready to dig into my meal. The long queue just doesn't seem to end!

My rice (tastes like nasi lemak), with beef curry, steamed ladies finger, a boiled egg and some squid eggs.

How was the taste? Not bad, worth trying, and worth going again.
Price? Reasonable, don't worry.

Tightly fastened: Penang council enforcement workers pulling down the structure.

GEORGE TOWN: After 15 years of roaring business, the sun has finally set for the operators and regular customers of a beachfront joint here — the Sunset Bistro Cafe in Batu Ferringhi.

The structure, said to be illegal, was demolished by about 40 workers from the Penang Municipal Council enforcement division who came with bulldozers at 10am yesterday.

The cafe’s owners and workers could only watch helplessly as the structure was completely brought down by 4pm.

The cafe has two portions, the first was built 15 years ago whereas the new one was an extension since 2005.

American tourist Jill Stewart, 33, said she was sad that her favourite haunt was now gone.

“This is my fourth time in Penang and each time I come to this cafe. I will spend time to relax. It serves good food and drinks while I love its relaxing environment, complete with a beach view and sea breeze,” she said.

The owner, Hamid Sultan, 49, said he spent more than RM500,000 on the cafe including building two shacks and purchasing utensils, appliances and decorations.

Hamid claimed no notice was served by the council.

“We’ve not been served any due notice and my pleas to them to give us a grace period of until Monday had fallen on deaf ears. I called a council officer earlier and asked if there was any way we could discuss the matter but he said it was an order from the District Office to demolish my bistro as it was an illegal structure,” he said.

Hamid’s business partner Chow Kok Pin, 50, who was visibly distraught, said they would seek help from relevant quarters for their next course of action.

“I am just sad that our 30 workers are made jobless,” he said.

State Local Government and Traffic Management Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the directive to demolish came from the District Office.

The cafe is located alongside several other similar beachfront entertainment joints, which have mushroomed in the last decade but most are illegal as the operators do not have the necessary licence.

Mukesh Ambani's 27-Storey Home

INDIA’S ECONOMIC and social disparities will starkly manifest themselves this week when Mumbai businessman Mukesh Ambani, the world’s fourth richest man, moves into what is possibly the world’s most expensive ever private home.

The 1,000-odd guests Ambani plans on inviting to his house-warming party will no doubt find the 27-storey building spacious. Named Antilla after a mythical island in the Atlantic, it has floor space of over 400,000 sq ft, far more than Louis XIV’s palace at Versailles .

Built at a reported cost of $2 billion (€1.4 billion) and located in the heart of the port city where tens of thousands of people sleep on pavements each night, Antilla looks like a glass palace put together hastily by a child with his Lego set. Mr Ambani will live in the house with his wife, his three children and his mother.

In a country where 77 per cent of its population of more than 1.2 billion people lives on less than $2 a day, Antilla boasts of entertainment centres, a ballroom, a health club, an Olympic-size swimming pool and a four-storey open garden, a luxury in the densely populated city of 20 million.

Its designers have kept to the principles of Vaastu, the traditional Hindu system of design based on directional alignments similar to Chinese feng shui, to propagate “positive energy”. The distinctive feature is that no room or floor is alike.

The first six floors are reserved for Mr Ambani’s 168 imported cars alongside an in-house service centre to maintain them. The entertainment centre, comprising a mini-theatre capable of seating 50 people, is on the eighth floor. Other floors have gyms and glass-fronted apartments for guests.

The top four floors are for the Ambani family with a breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea and the city’s impressive skyline. Each family member has their own gym.

Down dual stairways with silver-covered railings is a large ballroom with 80 per cent of its ceiling covered in crystal chandeliers. There is also a stage for entertainers and a kitchen capable of sustaining several hundred guests.

The two floors above the family’s residence have been set aside as maintenance areas and for an “air space floor” capable of accommodating three helicopters.

There has been criticism from many Mumbai residents who find Mr Ambani’s extravagance – he owns the petrochemical giant Reliance Industries – “vulgar” in a city where millions lead pitiful existences in futile search of riches.

In another development that highlights India’s financial inequities, 150 businessmen recently bought a Mercedes Benz each on one day in the small town of Aurangabad, 400km east of Mumbai, in a transaction worth $150 million.“We wanted to put Aurangabad on the world map,” said Rahul Mishrikotkar, one of the buyers.

India is home to 42 per cent of the world’s underweight children below the age of five.

At only 26 years old, Facebook’s founder and CEO becomes the youngest person to win this award since US pilot Charles Lindbergh in 1927.

In 2003, Mark Zuckerberg was a 19-year-old Harvard student who began an “an online directory” that connected “people through social networks at colleges.” A mere 7 years later, he has built a social (and monetary) empire, and has gone to become of one the youngest billionaires and most influential people in the world. This year, Facebook friended its 500 millionth user, began competing head-to-head with Google for Web domination, accounted for 1 in every 4 pageviews in the US, and the story behind its success has already become the stuff of legend (Hollywood legend, of course).

“For connecting more than half a billion people and mapping the social relations among them,” TIME says, “for creating a new system of exchanging information; and for changing how we all live our lives, Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is TIME’s 2010 Person of the Year.”

Just a month ago, Zuckerberg was only tenth on the list, which was being led by comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert (fresh from their “Restoring Sanity” rally in Washington, DC). But finally Zuckerberg rose to the top, beating, among others, the Tea Party, WikiLeaks’ founder and revolutionary Julian Assange, and the 33 Chilean miners. No small feat in the least, though since TIME readers’ themselves voted for their favorite person online, it is not difficult to think that Facebook might have been on their minds more than the president of Afghanistan.

About Facebook’s future, Zuckerberg told the magazine: “If the last five years was the ramping up, I think that the next five years are going to be characterized by widespread acknowledgment by other industries that this is the way that stuff should be and will be better.” It seems Mark is just only getting started.

Chinese build 15-story hotel in 6 days

As the United States and China battle over the finer points of currency manipulation at the G-20 summit, American negotiators may want to take note of this startling testimonial to the productivity of Chinese workers: A construction crew in the south-central Chinese city of Changsha has completed a 15-story hotel in just six days. If nothing else, this remarkable achievement will stoke further complaints from American economic pundits that China's economy is far more accomplished than ours in tending to such basics as construction.

Meanwhile, it's easy to imagine the disorientation of Changsha residents who'd gone away, or who just hadn't recently ventured into the downtown neighborhood of the new Ark Hotel: "Honey, I don't remember a hotel there, do you?"

The work crew erected the hotel -- a soundproofed, thermal-insulated structure reportedly built to withstand a magnitude 9 earthquake -- with all prefabricated materials. In other words, a crew of off-site factory workers built the sections, and their on-site counterparts arranged them on the foundation for the Ark project.

Despite the frenetic pace of construction, no workers were injured -- and thanks to the prefab nature of the process, the builders wasted very few construction materials. Below is a time-lapse video that shows the hotel being built from the ground up in less than a week:

Penang Cub Prix 2010 Round 10

The final Round 10 of the Petronas Cub Prix was held at Esplanade, Penang on 4th and 5th December 2010. The weather was cloudy on both days. The tarmac loop around the field area was used as the race track and adjoining nearby roads were also closed to public traffic.

Food and drink stalls selling drinks beside the race track.

Fences were set up around the tarmac loop. Marshals guard the entrances and assist riders who crashed or needed assistance during the race.

About 20 major booths in the field area can be seen promoting their products and services.

The race pit is also situated on the field side along the race circuit but the public would need additional passes to access these areas for security reasons.

Among other activities are modeling displays by female models.

Visitors also stand chances to win prizes from sports competitions, such as the soccer penalty shootout.

Various motorcycling hardwares were also on display and sale.

Plastic models were also on display with these real superbikes.

Along the track, seats were provided along some parts of the track. Huge number of crowd would watch the race from here.

Leonid Rogozov – A Hero Surgeon

In April, 29th, 1961 a doctor of the 6th Soviet Antarctic expedition Leonid Rogozov aged 27 felt pain in a right lower belly and fever. The next day brought only exasperation. Having no chance to call a plane and being the only doctor at the station “Novolazarevskaya”, at night, in April, 30th the surgeon made an appendix removal operation on himself using local anesthesia. He was assisted by an engineer and the station’s meteorologist.

In 1959 Leonid Rogozov graduated from the Institute and was immediately accepted to the surgery clinical residency. However, his studies at the residency were broken off for some time due to Leonid’s trip to Antarctica in September, 1960 as a doctor of the 6th Soviet Antarctic expedition to Novolazarevskaya station.

During this expedition there happened an event that made a 27-year old surgeon world-famous.
In the 4th month of the wintering, in April, 29th, 1961, Leonid showed disturbing symptoms: weakness, nausea, fever and pain in a right iliac region. The following day his temperature got even higher. Being the only doctor in the expedition consisting of 13 people, Leonid diagnosed himself: acute appendicitis. There were no planes at any of the nearest stations, besides, adverse weather conditions would not allow to fly to Novolazarevskaya anyway. In order to save the sick member of a polar expedition there was needed an urgent operation on site. And the only way out was to operate on himself.

At night, on the 30th of April, 1961, the surgeon was being helped by a mechanical engineer and a meteorologist who were giving him the medical instruments and holding a small mirror at his belly. Lying half bent on the left side, the doctor made a local anesthesia with novocaine solution and made a 12cm incision in the right iliac region with a scalpel. Either watching in the mirror or by touch he removed an inflamed appendix and injected antibiotic in the abdominal cavity. In 30 or 40 minutes from the beginning of the operation there developed a faint and giddiness and the surgeon had to make pauses for some rest. Nevertheless, by midnight the operation lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes was over. In five days the temperature normalized, in two days more – the stitches were taken out.

In the St. Petersburg Museum of the Arctic and the Antarctic there is an exposure of surgical instruments that Leonid Rogozov applied for this uneasy operation.

An astronaut-pilot of the USSR, a Hero of the Soviet Union, German Titov wrote in his book “My blue planet”:

“In our country an exploit is life itself.
… We admire the Soviet doctor Boris Pastukhov, who injected himself with plague vaccine before applying it on the sick people: we envy the courage of the Soviet doctor Leonid Rogozov who made an appendix removal operation on himself in the hard conditions of the Antarctic expedition.

Sometimes I reflect upon this in solitude and ask myself if I could do the same and only one answer comes to my mind: “I would do my best…”

A DOWNPOUR failed to douse the spirit of more than 24,000 participants who took part in the Penang Bridge International Marathon 2010 and a fun run held in conjunction with the event.

They braved the early morning rain and chills to run between 10km and 42km from as early as 2am yesterday when the full marathon was flagged off.

Only a small number of participants went home due to the unpredictable weather. There was a downpour at about 3.30am which slowed to a drizzle at 5am and stopped at 6am but a drizzle started again less than an hour later.

The participants were flagged off at various times depending on which category they took part in. The fun run was the last to be flagged off at 7am.

Despite the rain, the participants showed great determination to complete the race which attracted some of the best foreign runners.

Many were seen flashing broad smiles when crossing the finishing line although they were drenched to the skin.

As expected, the Kenyans continued their dominance in the run when they occupied the top nine places in the Men’s Open full marathon.

Alex Melly, 23, breezed through the 42km route with a time of 2:24:30s to take the top spot.

Following closely behind were Robert Kilagat Kosgey and James C. Tallam, who recorded 2:27:43s and 2:27:49s to finish second and third respectively.

Melly, who pocketed RM15,000, said the victory was made even sweeter as the winning time was his personal best.

“My previous best was about two hours and 28 minutes. I used to be a middle distance runner before switching my focus to marathon about a year ago.

“I am glad of my decision as I am progressing steadily in this discipline.

“Besides, I like the competition route here. Hopefully it can become my favourite hunting ground and if God willing, I want to return here next year to defend my title,” he said.

The Kenyans also displayed their supremacy in the Women’s Open full marathon by grabbing the top two spot.

Rose Jepkemboi Chesire, 25, clocked 2:59:14s to beat her compatriot Lucy Karimi Mugambi who was almost seven minutes behind with a time of 3:06:07s.

Chesire said she could have recorded a better timing if not for the rain and windy condition that hampered her progress.

On the local front, policeman Shaharudin Hashim, 35, from Kuala Lumpur, clocked 2:47:26s to be the best Malaysian finisher in the Men’s full marathon.

Clerk Ch’ng Lay Khim, 42, from Jelutong in Penang, was the best Malaysian finisher in the Women’s full marathon with a time of 3:52:08s.

The lucky participant of the day was student Chua Chong Hooi, 18, who drove home the grand prize in the lucky draw — a Proton Saga 1.3.

Chua, who only obtained a driving licence in March, said he would share the car with his father.

“I used to drive an older Proton Saga model. Thank God, I do not need to spend a single sen on a new car,” he said.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who flagged off the race, said this year’s participation of 24,000 people was a record number, eclipsing last year’s participation of 21,000.

He said participants came from 69 countries. Of the figure, about 1,600 people took part in the full marathon

LOMO Camera is Just a Big Scam

The Lomography companies are producing 1000s of Lomo camera everyday for scamming non professional photographers. They are selling it at the retail price of MYR200-500 but what you get is actually a cheap 35mm film camera which would nomally cost you under MYR30 and it would cost them about MYR5 to make.

Let's start with a little history about the original LOMO LCA camera. The Lomo LCA cameras were produced by the Old Russia (USSR) back in the 70s. The idea behind this camera is a little bit special. The Russian did not make the camera for profit purposes. The idea was to produce a cheap but usable auto camera that is affordable for everyone living in the ccommunist world. The camera bodies were made with cheap plastic. So at the time nearly every single Russian family would have one Lomo camera. But these cameras were not any good in term of picture quality.

So now you might ask why people are so crazy about this camera nowadays. It is simply because this camera is so bad and it is not even worth it to produce such low quality camera. In the early 90s few Austrian student went to Prague and they were in a budget they were looking for a cheap camera for some snap shoots during their trip. The bought a Lomo LCA for around $10 and took some photos and brought home with them. They developed the photo and found out that these camera could produce something very different from a normal camera (nothing can be as bad as that). They were smart and decided to import these LOMO LCA back from Russia for a really cheap price since no one would want them anymore. After they bought 1000s of camera back and they started to advertise those cheap camera in Europe and USA.

After all the original LOMO had been sold out they decided to make a deal with a Chinese factory to produce very similar product named the LOMO LCA+. The LCA+ is even worst than the original LCA since the lens is made of plastic rather than glass like the original ones. The lowly paid factory workers are able to produce 10,000+ LOMO LCA+ in a single day.

The scam of LOMO LCA+ is still going on and I would like to advise everyone looking for a lomo to think again before making a purchase. The Original idea of LOMO is to produce a camera where everyone can afford and enjoy not to make a huge profit. And nowadays they turn this idea around and scamming people's money which I feel sick about it.

Yes this camera is different from the others but in a very bad way in my point of view. The photos produced are soft, uneven contrasts, inaccurate exposures, vignetted and distorted. The digital versions are worse, nothing but noise and pixels which you could've produced on a MYR200 compact camera with a better result. Probably the reason why non professional photogs are so attracted to these cameras because:
1. They have 0 idea/experience about the basics of camera and photography.
2. Blankly attracted to the trend & commercials.
3. Peer pressure, and to look cool! Yeah rite...
4. The effects (which they have never seen before nor experienced before).

5. I just don't understand.

You can always get a 35mm disposable camera for around MYR20-MYR30 and they do offer the exact effect as the LCA or LCA+ does. However if you are able to get yourself a copy of the orginal LCA which was made in USSR for a resonable price than I would say it is a great item of history and idealogy. (reasonable price = MYR100 or less)

Modern ones do come in various designs and shapes.

End of the day, your money is still your money, spend it how u like to, but do not spend other's money unwisely...

Facebook Improves Photo Uploader, Image Quality.

Facebook has revamped its photo album functionality, letting members store images with a much higher resolution, simplifying the tagging process and improving the performance of the upload tool.

Uploaders have the option to upload in Standard or High Resolution quality.

Viewers can download the larger size photo via 'Download in High Res' link.

According to news, Facebook have increased the maximum size of photos from 720 pixels (in maximum width or length) to 2,048 pixels, a setting that yields "print quality, high resolution" images. The images still appear on albums, but viewers can choose to download the larger sizes via the 'Download in High Resolution' link.

Facebook has also made it simpler to assign the same tags to multiple photos of the same event or person. The photo viewer got a makeover: it pops up in the middle of the screen, as opposed to in a separate page, and flipping through the images is faster.

The photo uploader has been rebuilt with "the latest Flash technology" so it's faster, easier and less error prone to transfer images to one's account, especially large amounts at once.

Facebook will roll out the improvements to all members in the coming month.

The announcement comes less than two months after Facebook improved photo browsing by increasing the number of album thumbnail images displayed on a single page from 20 to 200. Facebook also made thumbnails bigger.

Facebook members have uploaded tens of billions of images to the social network. In July, Facebook ranked as the largest photo sharing site in the U.S. with 98.5 million unique visitors to its photo sections, way ahead of Photobucket, which ranked second with 27.4 million, according to comScore.
