PRESIDENT JONATHAN APOINTS EMEKA IKE AS RHYTHM ‘N’ PLAY AMBASSADOR

Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike has been appointed a Rhythm ‘N’ Play Ambassador by President Goodluck Jonathan. This according to the government is in recognition of his selfless service to humanity.
The ceremony was held last Thursday at the National Sports Stadium, Abuja. He was decorated alongside six other super stars including: Victor Moses, and Nigeria’s top music rapper M I.
As part of its nationwide grassroots sports development campaign, National Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM) on June 6 got the Presidency backing for its noble initiative, when Mr. President launched Rhythm N’ Play in Abuja.
According to NASCOM Chairman, Yemi Idowu, Rhythm ‘N’ Play is an exciting youth-friendly campaign aimed at enhancing mass youth participation in sporting activities and age-grade competitions.

He added, “Rhythm ‘N’ Play will rely heavily on the use of music, celebrities, volunteers, news media and other elements of pop culture to amplify and realise its objectives. Mr. President launched the campaign on June 6, first in Abuja.
As a popular Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike has been commended from different quarters for fighting for Nigerian people whose rights and voices are trampled upon. Recently, he was also appointed a member of the board of Directors of Institute For Humanitarian Studies And Social Development (IHSD). And not long after that, he was appointed into the Board of Okigwe Zonal Development Authority (OZDA).

Maybe you think of wedding etiquette as pertaining only to the couple, but there is, in fact, a long list of do's and don'ts you should abide by as a guest; from the moment the invitation arrives until after the happy event has occurred. Some rules of conduct are obvious while some need mastering.
The couple would have gone through series of planning and rehearsals and the least you can do is to make their day perfect for them by comporting yourself in a proper manner. Bebeakinboade.com presents to you 10 Etiquette rules every wedding guest should master.

ARRIVE AT THE CEREMONY ON TIME. Leave plenty of time to get to the wedding. Its good manners for all guests to be seated before the couple and not troop in one after the other as the ceremony are going on. If you're really late, stand in the back or slip quietly into a back pew or row once the processional is completely finished.

DONNT JUST SHOW UP FOR THE RECEPTION, ATTEND THE JOINING AND BLESSINGS. The ceremony is the most important part and guests should make all efforts to attend. It’s in poor taste to show up to the open bar without first attending the main event.

DON’T WEAR BLACK OR WHITE TO A WEDDING. If you are a close friend of the couple and are partaking in the wedding uniform (aso-ebi) great, you've got your attire sorted out, if not there are two colours that are a big no at any wedding:- black and white. White should be a colour that's left exclusively for the bride while black is a bit too gloomy for the day.

DON’T BE DISRESPECTFUL OF THE COUPLE’S RELIGION OR CULTURAL TRADITIONS. For you to have been invited for the ceremony, that means that you know about the couple as well as their tradition and religious beliefs. If it’s a church that requires you cover your hair, or a mosque or temple that demands you cover your shoulders, or being quiet during a particular ritual, please observe. It’s only for a few minutes after all and you can ditch the headpiece once the service is done before the reception.

DON’T HOARD SEATS. It is distasteful to see bags, wedding programmes or souvenirs on seats while some guests are standing or loitering around the hall.

DON’T CALL THE SERVERS FOR FOOD. If it’s a buffet, take a decent amount, if it’s a serving arrangement; let the servers get to your table and not you hollering for them. After all if you miss the food there, you can take yourself out to a treat or eat a proper meal at home.

DON’T HUSTLE FOR SOUVENIRS. It’s a matter of fact that everyone loves freebies; it’s also a matter of fact that souvenirs can never go round all wedding guests. If it gets to your table, good for you. If not, it’s not as is you can't afford to buy whatever is being distributed. No point lowering your self-esteem over this.

DO NOT GET EMBARRASSINGLY DRUNK. Even if the reception is a party where alcohol is flowing freely, that is not a license to over-indulge. A friend's or relative's wedding should not be turned into a clubhouse. We all know our tolerance level when it comes to booze, so you can decide to pass after the first glass and leave the indulgence till a night out.

SEND A GIFT, EVEN IF YOU CAN’T ATTEND. Etiquette dictates that if you were invited, you owe the couple a gift, even if you can't make it to the wedding. People lose friends over this. The couple would have expended a lot during the planning process, so one of the greatest ways of showing them love, apart from attending is giving a gift. If there is a wedding gift registry that solves the problem of what to get, if not, you can get anything tasteful within your budget or give a cash donation. This will go a long way and really be appreciated.

DON’T LEAVE BEFORE THE CAKE IS CUT. It's an old rule, but there’s a good reason for it. It's considered a quiet sign to elderly guests that it's okay to leave. That’s when it's acceptable for you to depart as well.

The month of May was quite a huge one for some major big brands in Nigeria. It was also pretty huge for some top celebrities. There seemed to be a rush for celebrity endorsement in May, more than it has been in any of the past months.
Quite a number of stars got lucky by having big names sign them on with mouth-watering deals. Some amounts were specified, some were just speculations while some were totally undisclosed.

T.B JOSHUA’S CHURCH BANNED FROM HOSTING REVIVALS IN GHANA

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tettey Yehonu, has directed authorities of the Synagogue Church of all Nations to quit hosting revivals at their Spintex auditorium in Accra. Speaking to Citi News, DCOP Yehonu noted that the stampede that occurred at the weekend could have been avoided if the church had chosen a bigger venue to hold its events.

Four people died on Sunday as a result of a stampede at the Synagogue Church of all Nations. The stampede occurred as people struggled to secure a position to receive holy water blessed by the Presiding Prophet, T.B Joshua.
Mr Tettey Yehonu indicated that, “the place was too small to manage a congregation of this magnitude”, and suggested that the Accra Sports Stadium or the independence square were more suitable alternatives to handle a crowd of that magnitude.
Meanwhile, officials of the Church who say this is the first time people have died in any of their services worldwide, have told Citi News they did all in their power to save the situation.

Reverend Sam Mc-Canan is a Reverend at the Synagogue Church of all Nations in Accra said: “The happening yesterday at Spintex is unprecedented, we are used to crowds and huge numbers but not something like this. We are a crowd puller, but we are not used to a number like this. This is a first of this kind, and we are very devastated about it”.

“…We are going to do a thorough work to ensure this does not repeat itself. Everything started orderly this morning, until 30 minutes when we heard a stampede outside the office”.

“We went outside then saw some casualties lying outside there, and others trampled over. We cancelled the meeting and called the national ambulance to intervene”.

The skirt’s original style from Saunders was a slightly below the knee design, but Zoe decided to let out her inner creativity and converted the design to an above the knee bubble skirt. She finished her look with satin sandals from Christain Louboutin.
Might be because she was attending a teen’s award and thought a shorter skirt will look more playful and more appropriate, or maybe she just decided to let out her creativity. Whatever it was, it totally worked for her.

Eva Longoria showed a little too much of herself at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend. While lifting her high-slitted gown at the ‘Psychotherapy of a plains Indian’ premiere on Saturday, the actress exposed more than just her legs. Longoria was good-natured about the revealing red carpet fashion faux pas.

On her way to an event the next day, she referenced the previous day’s exposure, tweeting a photo of a different outfit and writing, “Here’s my dress for tonight! No wardrobe malfunctions tonight!!!”
Designers and stylist need to do a little more than just tossing outfits to celebrities to wear. They may also need to instruct them on the in and out and dos and don’ts of dresses. And on the part of the celebrities, they may need to get the dress days before the occasion and wear it for a few minutes so that they can be familiar with it. Most celebs are known for getting their red carpet outfits just a few hours before the occasion.
