T.B JOSHUA’S CHURCH BANNED FROM HOSTING REVIVALS IN GHANA

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tettey Yehonu, has directed authorities of the Synagogue Church of all Nations to quit hosting revivals at their Spintex auditorium in Accra. Speaking to Citi News, DCOP Yehonu noted that the stampede that occurred at the weekend could have been avoided if the church had chosen a bigger venue to hold its events.

Four people died on Sunday as a result of a stampede at the Synagogue Church of all Nations. The stampede occurred as people struggled to secure a position to receive holy water blessed by the Presiding Prophet, T.B Joshua.
Mr Tettey Yehonu indicated that, “the place was too small to manage a congregation of this magnitude”, and suggested that the Accra Sports Stadium or the independence square were more suitable alternatives to handle a crowd of that magnitude.
Meanwhile, officials of the Church who say this is the first time people have died in any of their services worldwide, have told Citi News they did all in their power to save the situation.

Reverend Sam Mc-Canan is a Reverend at the Synagogue Church of all Nations in Accra said: “The happening yesterday at Spintex is unprecedented, we are used to crowds and huge numbers but not something like this. We are a crowd puller, but we are not used to a number like this. This is a first of this kind, and we are very devastated about it”.

“…We are going to do a thorough work to ensure this does not repeat itself. Everything started orderly this morning, until 30 minutes when we heard a stampede outside the office”.

“We went outside then saw some casualties lying outside there, and others trampled over. We cancelled the meeting and called the national ambulance to intervene”.

While lifting her high-slitted gown at the ‘Psychotherapy of a plains Indian’ premiere on Saturday, the actress exposed more than just her legs. Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has stated that the state is ready to give the late literary icon, Professor Chinua Achebe a befitting state burial. The Governor made the statement earlier in the week while inspecting St. Philip’s Anglican Church, Ogidi, where the funeral will take place on Thursday 23rd May.
The Governor also inspected Achebe’s final resting place, which is also designed to serve as a mini museum to house all the deceased works.
Meanwhile, tributes have been pouring in for the late novelist from far and wide. The Archbishop of Canterbury - the Most Rev. Justin Welby, the Bishop of Woolich, Rt. Revd. Michael Ipgrave, his Southwark counterpart, Rt. Revd. Christopher Chessun, and also the Jamaican High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Mrs. Aloun Ndombet-Assamba all eulogized the late icon.
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and other Heads of State, State Governors, Diplomats and International Literary dignitaries will be in attendance.

Big Brother winner Wendell Parsons has reportedly been arrested by police in Zimbabwe after trying to illegally make a $25,000 insurance claim.
Wendell was picked up on Friday on allegations of lodging a false insurance claim with Alliance Insurance Company.
Karen Igho’s Zimbabwean co-winner has been charged with allegations of lodging a fraudulent insurance claim after crashing his Ford Ranger vehicle while travelling from Bulawayo on March 16 this year. After he lodged the claim, the police suspect the vehicle was not insured when it was involved in the accident.
In a bid to have the car replaced, Wendell was suspected to have gone to insure the car with Alliance Insurance Company, two days after the accident. He then tried to claim US$25,000 from the company.
On 16 March this year the accused, travelling in a Ford Ranger from Bulawayo, had an accident, he then insured the same vehicle on 18 March and tried to claim an amount of US$25 000 as insurance for the vehicle.
Alliance then got suspicious and launched an investigation, found his claims false, which led to his arrest.

NIGERIA’S FIRST LADY TO SPEARHEAD COUNTRY’S GLOBAL CHILD ONLINE PREOTECTION INITIATIVE

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT) have appointed the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Dame (Dr.) Patience Goodluck Jonathan as ITU’s Global Child Online Protection (COP) Champion.

She received her letter of appointment at the State House, Abuja, on Friday, May 10, from the Director of ITU’s Telecommunications Development Bureau, Brahima Sanou and the Chairman of IMPACT, Datuk Mohd Noor Amin, who met with Dame Jonathan to discuss issues on cyber threats and cyber-security in the African region.
In her acceptance speech, the First Lady expressed her willingness to partner with ITU-IMPACT, to address the safety and security of children and youth around the world who, she noted, are among the top users of the internet globally.

She described as commendable, the determination of ITU-IMPACT to protect innocent children and youths around the world from exposure to various forms of online abuses, such as pornography, radicalization, trafficking and bully.

Dame Jonathan lamented that despite the unique advantages of ICT advancements, unscrupulous elements still exploit it towards compromising the safety and security of our children and youths, often for pecuniary benefits.
A statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the First Lady, Mr Ayo Osinlu, said Dame Patience Jonathan expressed her pleasure at the plans of ITU-IMPACT to build a partnership of various sectors of the global community, particularly among the 193 member countries of ITU, for the purpose of developing strategies for the control of access to and use of the World Wide Web (www), to ward off cyber insecurity for children and youths.
She appealed to parents and guardians, especially mothers, to make it a duty to show greater interest in monitoring and controlling the engagements of their children and wards on the internet.

Dame Jonathan thanked ITU and IMPACT for the honour, and promised to accord the task of protecting the world’s youths and children from cyber threats.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Chairman of IMPACT, Datuk Mohd Noor Amin said Dame Jonathan, who has won numerous accolades for her charitable works involving women and children, will be the perfect advocate for ITU’s Child Online Protection (or COP) initiative.

According to him, “Her Excellency, who is both a progressive leader and renowned humanitarian, is the ideal candidate to help ITU-IMPACT in its mission to push for COP awareness and the need for national online protection framework to protect the young and innocent.”

Also speaking, the Director of ITU’s Telecom Development Bureau, Mr. Brahima Sanou stated that the “COP framework has become a crucial necessity to create a safe environment for our children while they are on the net. Both ITU and IMPACT have faith in Her Excellency’s ability to spread this message and push for reforms not only in the African region but across the globe.”

Apart from the COP initiative, ITU and IMPACT are looking at the possibility of setting up a Cyber-security Regional Centre in Nigeria which will play an essential role in supporting the expansion of ITU-IMPACT’s network globally by localizing cyber-security services to meet the unique needs of the region. Nigeria has indicated their interest and intent to host the Regional Centre under the ITU-IMPACT framework.

It is a Striped Orange, Black and Pink spaghetti dress with ruffles at the bottom. Shortly after its launch on the runway, the dress was worn by 3 celebrities within a month. The selling points are the bright colors and flattering ruffle fringe at the bottom.

Normally horizontal stripes would be an instant “no”, but the large bands of bright orange across the bust and hips create a slimming illusion.
Between the large panels are multiple little stripes of pink and black, which visually tightens up the waist.

If you are an Angela Simmons fan, then you must have noticed that the reality show star loves to keep her make up simple yet chick; with almost neutral eyes and bright red lip stick.
Fierce red lip is a timeless makeup look. But, not all red lips are created equal. Occasionally, we come across standout red lips that makes us stop and stare!
Simmons's makeup artist, Sharon Renee, was tracked down and was generous enough to share these insider beauty secrets used to create this red hot look.

EYES:

Since I wanted the focus to be on her red lip we did a clean eye with neutral color eye shadows. I used Blacktrack Fluidline Liner by MAC to create a winged line on her eyelid with an angled brush. I lined her waterline on the lower lid with MAC's Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline. We finished her eyes with #34 lashes by MAC.
LIPS: Before adding color, I moisturized Angela's lips with Aveda's Lip Saver Then I filled the entire lip with Cherry Lip Liner by MAC. I only used a lip liner because I wanted the color to stay for a long period of time without the drying effect of using a matte textured lipstick.

CHEEKS: Since Angela likes a dewey look on her cheeks, I applied a small amount of blush in Ambering Rose by MAC, which has a slight shimmer and gives a natural rosy look, on the apples of her cheeks.
Now you know how Angela gets her angelic classy look. It’s simple, it’s all about getting the technique right.

Nollywood actor turned producer director; Kunle Afolayan is on his way to Tokyo, Japan to attend the Cinema Africa International Film Festival.
The award winning movie maker will be screening two of his blockbuster movies, The Figurine and Phone Swap at the festival to a very large audience.

The festival which will be held at Auditorium Shibuya from May 18-23, 2013 is organized by Committee of Cinema Africa and supported by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Cinema Africa is a non-profit organization in Tokyo, Japan, established in 2006 with a mission to develop understanding and appreciation of Africa in Japan through African films made by African filmmakers and producers. Cinema Africa is the only African film festival in Asia and the Pacific region. The organization also distributes African films to non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, and municipalities.
They believes that films made in Africa portray the true voice of Africa, and not the films about Africa made in Hollywood or western media.

Good news for all Big Brother Africa addicts! The eighth season of one of the most widely watched reality shows in Africa is set to premiere on 26th of May. This season, the show has been named ‘Big Brother The Chase’ and will feature 28 housemates from 14 countries. The housemates will be competing for a mouth watering cash prize of $300,000.

The eighth season will still be hosted by IK Osakioduwa who has been the host for the past few seasons.

ANGELINA JOLIE HAS REVEALED THAT SHE HAS UNDERGONE A DOUBLE MASTECTOMY AFTER FINDING OUT SHE A HIGH CHANCE OF DEVELOPING BREAST CANCER

The 37-year-old star has written an emotional article for the New York Times explaining that she made the decision after finding out she had the BRCA1 cancer gene, meaning she had an 87% chance of developing breast cancer.

She wrote: “My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer, although the risk is different in the case of each woman.
Angelina’s mother Marcheline Bertrand died in 2007 after battling ovarian cancer.
“Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could. I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy.
"I started with the breasts, as my risk of breast cancer is higher than my risk of ovarian cancer, and the surgery is more complex".
On April 27, Jolie finished the three months of medical procedures that the mastectomies involved. During that time she has been able to keep this private and to carry on with her work.
The actress, who has five children with Brad Pitt, credited her fiancé for his support throughout her invasive treatment.
