Professor (CONUASS 7)

Senior Lecturer (CONUASS 5)
• A Ph.D. holder with at least six (6) years post-doctoral teaching, research and administrative experience in a University

Lecturer I (CONUASS 4)
• Candidates should possess a Ph.D. from a recognized University with at least three (3) years post-doctoral teaching, research and administrative experience in a university.

Lecturer II (CONUASS 3)
• Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree from a recognized University.

Assistant Lecturer (CONUASS 2)

Imo state police command has handed over five year old Francis and two year old Chinaza to the legitimate mother,Abigail Uka. The babies were sold for N1.1m in Enugu state after they were stolen through the connection of a relative in Uzoagba in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo state.

This was after the mother of the children was attacked by the criminal gang numbering about seven in August.

Sudanese top division club Al Khartoum Watani have appointed Emmanuel Amuneke as their new head coach for the forthcoming season, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Amuneke, who was unveiled Tuesday evening, signed a two-year deal at the club.

Amuneke, a former Super Eagles winger and Nigeria U-17s and U-20 coach, replaces Kwesi Appiah who took over the reins as Ghana’s head coach for the third time earlier in the year.

10 Things Saraki Said During 2018 Budget Presentation

Below are key points from the speech of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki at the presentation of the 2018 appropriation bill on Tuesday.

1. As the country gradually recovers, it is important to reset the fundamentals that drive our economy – so we do not slide back into recession. We must reassess the relationship between oil and our economy. Oil prices are gradually inching up, but that is no reason for complacency in our diversification drive. We must grow our economy away from oil - as well as the need to increase non-oil revenue generation and collection.

2. Revenue from taxes as well as independent revenues from State Owned Enterprises must be taken seriously. If the budget is to be funded, we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to revenue under-performance.

While there is a need to review extant laws guiding the operation of some Government enterprises, I would urge for more determined effort on the part of the Executive, to plug leakages. This sector alone accounts for over 40 trillion naira in valuation, of which less than 400 billion naira is remitted as revenue to the Consolidated Federation Account. This is not acceptable. We need to vigorously address this area.

3. The budgets of parastatals and agencies are meant to be submitted with this budget presentation, as stipulated by the constitution. We must work to ensure that these are passed by the end of the year, and sanction those parastatals and agencies that fail to submit their budget along with the 2018 budget, and deny access to capital expenditure unless budget is passed.

4. Further to the area of increasing independent revenue, there is the need to review agreements that government has signed with some private sector service providers. Many of these agreements are biased, and clearly, not in the interest of the country.

5. We appreciate the need to spend, Mr. President. However, we must ensure that our borrowing is targeted at productive projects that will stimulate the economy. We must ensure real value-for-money in projects funded by borrowing, and make doubly sure that the projects are not overpriced.

6. To ensure consistency in government’s economic programmes and tax policies, we will be requiring that the submission of the 2018 Budget - and budget submissions going forward - be accompanied by a Finance Bill. This bill - which should clearly detail the imposition, alteration or regulation of taxes such as the proposed tax on luxury items and excise taxes, among others - will put the financial proposals of government into effect.

7. As we are all aware, many businesses were adversely affected by the recession; many lost their means of livelihood. As the country emerges from that period of uncertainty, the question on the lips of many Nigerians has been this: How does the recovery translate into tangible economic benefits for me? We must remember that the real gains must be felt on a personal level by the individual, for economic recovery to have meaning.

People are seeking to get back to work but cannot find jobs. Entrepreneurs want to restart their businesses but are finding it difficult to access the needed capital. As for our farmers, the last thing they want is for produce to go to waste because people cannot afford to buy.

8. Looking around today, we see that many of our undergraduates are apprehensive about their graduation day; and our National Youth Corps members are not looking forward to the end of the service year, for fear of being tagged ‘unemployed’.

While I commend your current efforts at tackling unemployment - especially among the youth through Federal Youth Programmes such as YouWin, N-Power, and YES-Programme - deliberate steps must be taken to make the 2018 budget a job oriented one.

9. In line with that, we must see to the implementation of the Procurement law, with particular relevance to the part that has to do with support for Made-In-Nigeria goods. The implementation of the 2018 budget must anchor on the Made-In-Nigeria project. This should be reflected in government procurements in 2018.

10. Let me now talk about mainstreaming social inclusion. Mr. President, each and every Nigerian wants to be part of the economic progress.

We must never lose sight of the need for equity and balanced development across the entire spread of our country. Infrastructural development should be seen to be well distributed, to create growth pools away from the major city centres and drive the regeneration of our rural areas. Agriculture, for instance, is meaningless without those that will engage in farming in the countryside.

The current rate of rural-to-urban migration is alarming and unsustainable – congesting the cities and stretching resources to breaking point, while undermining the economic viability of some states. People must be able to see a future for themselves in every corner of this country, not just in the big cities.

Infrastructure, Defense Get Bulk Of Buhari's N8.6trillion Budget

Infrastructure, represented by the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing and Ministry of Transportation, and Defence, will take the bulk of federal capital spending in 2018, according to a proposal submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly Tuesday.

The three ministries will get money more than the 12 other sectors combined.

Dubbed the ‘Budget of Consolidation,’ President Buhari said the budget would consolidate on the achievements of previous budgets and deliver on Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) 2018 – 2020.

Giving a further breakdown of the budget, Mr Buhari said that 30.8 percent (or N2.652 trillion) of the budget will be allocated to capital expenditure while N3.494 trillion is budgeted for recurrent expenditure.

Details of the budget proposal revealed that the Power, Works and Housing has the highest capital project proposal with N555.88 billion.

The president listed some projects which will be executed under this sector in 2018 to include the Mambilla hydro power project and the National Housing Programme.
Transportation sector comes second with a projected allocation of N263.10 billion for capital projects.

Specifically, N12 billion counterpart funding is earmarked for transmission lines and substations, N10.00 billion for the 2nd Niger Bridge; and N300 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of the strategic roads.

The third sector to attract most in capital expenditure proposal is Special Intervention Programmes with N150.00 billion and Defence, fourth with N145.00 billion.

Other sectors are Agriculture and Rural Development, N118.98 billion; Water Resources: N95.11 billion; Industry, Trade and Investment, N82.92 billion; Interior: N63.26 billion; Education N61.73 billion; Universal Basic Education Commission, N109.06 billion; Health, N71.11 billion; Federal Capital Territory, N40.30 billion; Zonal Intervention Projects, N100.00 billion; North East Intervention Fund, N45.00 billion; Niger Delta Ministry, N53.89 billion; and Niger Delta Development Commission, N71.20 billion.
Details of the budget proposal revealed that a significant increase is being projected in the revenue accruable from the oil and non-oil sectors.

“Based on the above fiscal assumptions and parameters, total federally-collectible revenue is estimated at 11.983 trillion Naira in 2018. Thus, the three tiers of Government shall receive about 12 percent more revenues in 2018 than the 2017 estimate.

“Of the amount, the sum of 6.387 trillion Naira is expected to be realised from oil and gas sources. Total receipts from the non-oil sector are projected at 5.597 trillion Naira.

“The Federal Government’s estimated total revenue is 6.607 trillion Naira in 2018, which is about 30 percent more than the 2017 target. As we pursue our goal of revenue diversification, non-oil revenues will become a larger share of total revenues. In 2018, we project oil revenues of 2.442 trillion Naira, and non-oil as well as other revenues of 4.165 trillion Naira.

“Non-oil and other revenue sources of 4.165 trillion Naira, include several items including: Share of Companies Income Tax (CIT) of 794.7 billion Naira, share of Value Added Tax (VAT) of 207.9 billion Naira, Customs & Excise Receipts of 324.9 billion Naira, FGN Independently Generated Revenues (IGR) of 847.9 billion Naira, FGN’s Share of Tax Amnesty Income of 87.8 billion Naira, and various recoveries of 512.4 billion Naira, 710 billion Naira as proceeds from the restructuring of government’s equity in Joint Ventures and other sundry incomes of 678.4 billion Naira.

I say this because while men do not have sex with emotions, women can’t have sex without attaching emotions to it. Most women who take their husbands to court for divorce are those that cheat on their men. A non cheating woman would most likely never take her husband to court for divorce, unless the man exceedingly abuses her physically and emotionally to the point of killing her.

Men don’t equate sex with love. A man can have sex with another woman but still doesn’t love her. That’s why women who fell in love with married men find it difficult to find happiness in those relationships as they are just being used by those married men. But once a married woman starts sleeping with you, she can even narrates some hidden secretes concerning her husband and she will even tell you why she hates him (her husband). She can even accept poison from you to eliminate her husband.

For men, sex and love are two different things. But for women, sex and love are one and the same things. For men, sex comes first before love (infatuation), but for women love comes first before sex (true love). Therefore, once your woman starts having sex with another man/men, her love shifts from you to that man and she can even start giving that man the best food and love than she gives you.

The fact that your man is cheating on you doesn’t mean he has stopped loving you. But I can’t say the same for women. Once a woman starts cheating on you, she has fallen for someone else and you people will never live the same again. And she can even kill her husband once she starts cheating on him.
If your wife starts cheating, you should be a lucky man not to die in less than 10 years. It has been found that 95% of women who cheat wish their husbands dead. That is the main reason why it is dangerous for a man to continue staying with a wife who cheats on him. That is why is now encouraged everywhere in the world including in the Bible, for a man to divorce his wife only once she starts cheating on him. Cheating women are more deadly to husbands than ordinarily criminals or weapons. There are many cheating women in the world who invite criminals to break into her house at night only to come and eliminate her man and police officers plus relatives can’t detect this as the same woman tend to moan more than any person at the funeral so as to attract sympathy and hide her evil acts.

That’s why psychologists discourage women,more than men, from cheating.

Women can’t handle the emotional conflict that comes with cheating.

That’s the reason an observant and intelligent man will notice that his wife has started cheating on him once he starts doing it because most women tend to lose respect to their husbands and try to avoid sex with them in most times.

Cheating Women will even be giving excuses for not wanting to have sex with their husbands. Study has shown that every relationship begins to flounder once a woman starts cheating. There are many men who cheat on their partners but still show them true love. But it is very hard to find a relationship in which a woman is cheating and things still remain the same.

I repeat, nearly 100% of cheating women wish their husbands quick death or divorce to have unlimited sex freedom while nearly 100% of cheating men can’t wish their wives quick death or divorce. That is why most men cant allow their wives to be physically or verbally abused by their girlfriends. Men will always stand for their wives.

A Nigerian medical scientist, Prince Ayodele I. Adeleye has recorded a break through for discovering permanent cure for some chronic diseases known to have no cure according to world medical records history.
The disease according to his claims include diabetics, strokes/paralysis, hepatitis, cancer, BP, ulcer, epilepsy and sickle cell.
The scientist has also improved on therapy that now reduces to two hours, the treatment and cure for HIV/Aids, including kidney, plus other damaged organs.
(Prof.) Adeleye, made the outcome of his breakthrough public penultimate week after an age-long research where he excelled in establishing cure in the nine ailments considered to have no permanent cure the world over.
Adeleye was the best graduate of Laboratory Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and was retained immediately after graduation as a lecturer as well as staff in medical lab department of the university teaching hospital, ABUTH.
A major in parasitology, Adeleye rose to the position of principal staff in the lab science department of ABUTH, and retired after successful carrier as federal civil servant to establish a research centre in Kaduna metropolis.
In a chat with our correspondent, at the “Yaro Medicare Nigeria limited, the research centre”, located in the heart of Kaduna, Adeleye said more research was still in progress.
In a handbill made available to journalists, the permanent cure for diabetes takes only a month, stating that it’s the first and only of its kind in the world.
On hepatitis, the cure is said to be instantaneous and takes only a day, while cure for all kinds of stroke/paralysis, at any level inclusive, takes only three days, respectively.

This post is not about women bashing but the need to let our ladies know that they can not afford to live a sexually reckless life and expect the man in their life to respect them when they eventual settle down in marriage cos men juxtapose respect for a woman with her sexual decency and expecting faithfulness from a man goes beyond the fact that the lady in question is faithful but it has a lot to do with her past sexual life style...little wonder why it is extremely difficult for man to divorce a virgin bride or a woman who has a very decent sexual past.

I find it amusing that there are ladies who have lived their lives in total sexual recklessness but when they eventually decide to hang their boots,they will also be looking for a man that will be 100% faithful to them.

I know many people will be quick to compare sexual chastity of a man and woman and expect equal measure but this is very unrealistic and a school of thought only for the ignorant.

My point is that a lady who has slept with John,chidi,James,Richard,Muhammed,Okon,Johnson,Davido,Wizkid, ..... should never be in the league of ladies clamoring for faithful men because in most cases,their past usually haunts their present and this might make the man in their life feel insecure and eventually stray even when he never wished to philander. Their past will also prevent them from accepting the man as he is as they cant help but compare the size of his manliness,his sexual prowess,his persona,his... with other men they have been with thereby creating some resentment towards the innocent man.

Ladies must understand that today is tomorrow's past and should prevent any ugly past by maintaining proper decorum today.You can't just sleep around recklessly today just to wake up tomorrow and say "everybody has a past"Ladies should be determined to live a sexually decent lifestyle so that the man who eventually marries them will be proud of them and they will be at a vantage position to demand for faithfulness from the man cos most men place little or no marital value on a woman with numerous body count.

In my opinion,i believe every faithful woman regardless of her past deserves faithfulness from her man but only a lady with a decent sexual lifestyle truly deserves and should demand 100% faithfulness from her man but that remains my opinion.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday, said it is holding five South-East state governments, particularly, Abia State and Ohanaeze Ndigbo responsible for the siege and invasion of its leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu family house in Afaraukwu, Umuahia, Abia State.

IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, alleged that “Abia State Government in collaboration with other South-East State governments and Ohanaeze Ndigbo designed, perfected and unleashed Operation Python Dance on the people and the accompanying killing spree ostensibly to eliminate our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, since he cannot be bought or compromised.

“We, the IPOB, under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are holding the Government of Abia State, four other South-East state governments and Ohanaeze Ndigbo responsible for the siege and invasion of our leader’s compound in Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia from September 10 to 14, 2017.

“The repeated denials of Governopr Okezie Ikpeazu and his hired hands will not eradicate the fact that, he, along with other South East governors designed and perfected Operation Python Dance and the accompanying killing spree ostensibly to eliminate our leader.

“The Abia State government led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu should, therefore, stop deceiving Nigerians on his real motive for imposing the curfew that followed the attack on Mazi Kanu’s home. He should rather toe the part of sanity by accepting responsibility of his well thought out action with his co- conspirators and give a true account of their action, before the people of Biafra.

“He should also explain how they managed to allow envy and jealousy over the popularity of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to overwhelm them to the point of conniving with the Nigerian Army in killing defenseless unarmed Biafra agitators fighting for the liberation of their people.

“The Abia State governor’s claim that he imposed a curfew during the invasion of our leader’s house in Umuahia to save 11 million Igbo in the North is laughable. That was a fabricated lie to deceive the people and with the intention to deflecting rising anger against him by Biafrans in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.”

SHOCKING footage has emerged showing the terrifying moment a pair of snakes do battle in a woman’s shower after falling through her skylight.

The terrifying clip shows two huge pythons twisting and turning with their tails completely tangled together as they wrestle on the bathroom floor.
Mum-of-one Petrina Murphy, 41, filmed the hellish scene after the animals came crashing through the skylight at her home in Byfield, Queensland, Australia.

The PR worker said: "I saw them tangled around each other through the skylight so I got the broom and used the handle to get them to fall out into the shower.

"They had really wrapped themselves around each other and their tails were all knotted up.

"Some people who've seen the video have asked if they're mating but they're definitely two males fighting.

"Even though they were fighting, I knew they weren't going to attack me.

"They were more focused on each other and pythons are actually usually pretty docile unless you annoy them."

She continued: "After they fell through, I closed all the doors so they were just sliding around in the bathroom and then I used the broom to sweep them outside.

"They didn't seem that bothered when I was sweeping them out. One took off pretty quickly but the other one kept trying to head in the direction of the bins so I was talking to it. I must sound mad.

"I know a lot of people would have made a run for it just at the sight of them.

"For people with a phobia it would be like something out of a nightmare but I've never been particularly scared of snakes and we're pretty used to them out here."

Petrina added: "I would much rather get rid of them myself and know they're gone than have to deal with worrying about them finding their own way into the house.

"Waking up with one wrapped around my arm or them deciding to join Callum and I when we're watching TV, now that would be a shock.

"I'm just glad the shower was clean so I was able to get some photos and video without it being embarrassing."

Petrina said the snakes have been slithering around on her roof throughout Australia's winter months with the mum and her son Callum, 16, regularly hearing them moving around.

And she revealed she has had to deal with their urine dripping through the ceiling.

Petrina said: "We've known there was a snake living on the roof for about four months. We've heard it sliding around up there and thumping over the rafters.

"Seeing two was a bit of a surprise but we live near a national park so snakes are something you get used to.

"The most annoying thing about having them up there was when they peed. Something would drip through the ceiling and you'd think it was water. Realising it was snake pee made me cranky.

"We haven't had any rain here for about three months so the snakes come looking for where we keep our water. They just want a drink.

"A lot of people would have seen them and just had to get in their car and drive away but I'm alright with snakes and spiders – even the huge ones. It's ticks that freak me out.

"If I find a tick on me I'm terrified but if a snake's in my bathroom that's no problem."

U.S. Weighs Carrier Exercise During Trump Trip to Asia

Trump’s coming visit to Asia is the longest that any U.S. president has taken to the region in more than two decades

In China, Mr. Trump will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping to seek greater Chinese pressure on North Korea and to “rebalance the U.S.-China economic relations,” the official said.

The three U.S. aircraft carriers are scheduled to travel near the Korean Peninsula soon, and the military may decide to keep them in the area for maneuvers that would coincide with President Donald Trump’s coming visit to Asia, U.S. defense officials said.

It would be the first military exercise involving three U.S. carriers in the area since 2007, officials said, sending a potent message to North Korea at a time of rising tensions over Pyongyang’s nuclear-weapons program.

Tensions in the region are already heightened. North Korea warned on Monday that the U.S. is “pushing the situation to the point of the worst explosion by massively amassing ultramodern, nuclear-war hardware of all varieties in and around the Korean Peninsula.”

Mr. Trump leaves at the end of the week for a two-week trip that will take him to Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. White House officials say the trip is the longest that any U.S. president has taken to the region in more than two decades.

Much of the trip will revolve around the threat posed by North Korea. Mr. Trump will call on the international community to maximize pressure on North Korea during a speech to the South Korean legislature, although he won’t visit the demilitarized zone because of time constraints, a senior administration official said.

The USS Ronald Reagan, based in Japan, just completed a visit to South Korea. The USS Nimitz, which deployed to the Persian Gulf on June 1, is currently conducting a port visit in Sri Lanka and will travel through the Pacific on its way back to its home port on the U.S. West Coast.

The USS Theodore Roosevelt will replace the Nimitz in the Middle East and currently is en route. It left its home port in San Diego on Oct. 6, and, like the Nimitz, must travel through the region to reach the Middle East. The USS Theodore Roosevelt is currently near Guam.

The last time three carrier groups were in the region because of scheduling was in 2011, officials said.

The officials said that while the convergence of the ships wasn’t timed to Mr. Trump’s visit to Asia, which begins this weekend, they are considering “taking advantage of the opportunity” and scheduling an exercise.

U.S. defense officials said a decision on whether to conduct an exercise would likely be made at “the last minute.”

Military officials acknowledge that it is rare to have three of the U.S.’s 11 nuclear-powered aircraft carriers in one region of the world at the same time, but should not be taken as a sign of an impending military confrontation.

“It’s not that it’s a pure coincidence, but it doesn’t mean that we’re about to attack,” one official said.

With many of the prescheduled moves already being planned, officials have acknowledged seeing “a unique opportunity” to flex the U.S. military’s muscle at a time of heightened tensions.

“I wouldn’t read anything more to it than it’s just an opportunity to exercise three carrier strike groups together,” Lt. Gen. Kenneth McKenzie Jr. said last week. “It does demonstrate a unique and powerful capability that has a very significant assurance effect on our allies in the Western Pacific.”

Pyongyang warned on Monday that it was keeping a close eye on the influx of U.S. military assets.

“The U.S. military action getting all the more hysteric compels the DPRK to take action,” it added, using the acronym for its formal name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The influx of U.S. military assets also comes amid a debate in Seoul about bringing U.S. tactical nuclear weapons to South Korea for the first time since former President George H.W. Bush withdrew them in the early 1990s.

Over the weekend, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said that there were no plans to return nuclear weapons to South Korea, citing the U.S.’s existing capabilities and a desire to remove nuclear weapons from the Korean Peninsula.

Hard times await national anthem violators in China

China’s parliament is considering criminal penalties for those who disrespect the national anthem, Reuters reported Monday, citing from state news agency Xinhua.

A draft amendment to the country’s Criminal Law was submitted for deliberation at a session of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee on Monday.

Violators could face up to three years in prison, according to the draft.

China passed a new law in September mandating up to 15 days in police detention for those who mock the “March of the Volunteers,” which is China’s national anthem.

The law also covers the Chinese territories of Hong Kong and Macau, Reuters reported.

According to Fox News it is not clear when the amendment would be voted on or take effect.

The report comes at a time when there is debate about NFL players in the U.S. who take a knee during the national anthem before football games.

Some see the protest as disrespecting the flag, while others say the players are using their first amendment right to protest.

President Trump called on the football players to be fired or banned.

In Hong Kong, it’s the soccer fans protesting China’s national anthem. The territory’s football fans booed the anthem during a World Cup qualifier in 2015, which prompted FIFA to fine Hong Kong’s football association.

North Korean Hackers Stole Submarine Secrets From Daewoo, Lawmaker Says

Revelation comes weeks after news of a similar attack on South Korea’s defense ministry

SEOUL—North Korean hackers are suspected to have broken into a South Korean shipyard and stolen military secrets, in a breach made public less than a month after news of a similar attack in which hackers stole joint U.S.-South Korea war plans.

The attack, revealed by a Seoul lawmaker and corroborated by defense-industry sources, targeted Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. , which makes warships including submarines.

Hackers stole 60 classified documents including blueprints and technical data for submarines and vessels equipped with Aegis weapon systems, said Kyeong Dae-soo, a lawmaker with the opposition Liberty Korea Party.

The case came to light just weeks after the disclosure of another suspected North Korean hack into Seoul’s defense ministry database in September last year, in which attackers stole sensitive military secrets, including a joint U.S.-South Korean plan detailing how to eliminate the Pyongyang leadership in the event of war. Some of the leaked information in the Daewoo attack pertains to South Korea’s submarine-launched missile technology and advanced Aegis weapons systems that track and destroy multiple targets, Mr. Kyeong said.

Mr. Kyeong, a key member of the South Korean Parliament’s National Defense Committee, revealed the suspected attack in a prepared written statement for the continuing parliamentary audit this week.

He said the findings had been verified by South Korean military investigators who had looked into the case for the six months through last October before concluding that North Korean hackers had been behind the Daewoo breach.

U.S. nuclear arsenal to cost $1.2 trillion over next 30 years: CBO

Modernizing and maintaining the U.S. nuclear arsenal over the next 30 years will cost more than $1.2 trillion, according to a report released on Tuesday by the Congressional Budget Office.The report said current plans for the modernization of the aging planes, ships and missile silos that make up the U.S. nuclear arsenal would cost 50 percent more than if the U.S. only operated and maintained its current equipment in the field.

The CBO study reviewed the Obama’s Administration’s plans for modernization of the nuclear arsenal. President Donald Trump in January directed Secretary of Defense James Mattis to conduct his own review the U.S. nuclear forces. The results could be published in the coming months.

U.S. House Armed Services Committee member Adam Smith, a Democrat from Washington, said of the Obama-era plan: “Congress still doesn’t seem to have any answers as to how we will pay for this effort, or what the trade-offs with other national security efforts will be.”

The report said costs would rise from $29 billion in 2017 to $47 billion in 2027, before peaking at around $50 billion a year through the early 2030s.

Trump has said he wants to ensure the U.S. nuclear arsenal is at the “top of the pack,” saying the United States has fallen behind in its weapons capacity.

U.S. officials have noted that America’s nuclear modernization is lagging behind Russia’s upgrade of its own nuclear triad.

General Paul Selva, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Congress in August he believed Moscow was already two-thirds of the way through its nuclear modernization process.

In August, the U.S. Air Force awarded Boeing Co and Northrop Grumman Corp separate contracts to continue development work on the replacement of the aging Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile system one leg of the nuclear triad.

Days later the Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin Corp and Raytheon Co separate $900 million contracts to continue work on a replacement for the AGM-86B air-launched nuclear cruise missile. North Korea nuclear base collapses

A tunnel at an underground North Korea nuclear site has collapsed with up to 200 people feared dead, according to reports.

The collapse happened at the Pukyung nuclear test site in the north-east of the country on October 10, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.

A North Korean official said the collapse happened during the construction of an underground tunnel, the agency reports.

Some 100 people are said to have been trapped by the initial tunnel collapse, with a further 100 lost in a second collapse during a rescue operation, Japan’s TV Asahi reported Tuesday.

The accident is believed to have been caused by Kim Joing-un’s sixth nuclear test on March 3 which weakened the mountain, according to the report.
