PDM Candidate Asks Tribunal To Void Buhari’s Victory, Order Fresh Poll

Fresh troubles have emerged for President Muhammadu Buhari as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Movement, Pastor Aminchi Habu, and the PDM, have sued him, the Independent National Electoral Commission and his party, the All Progressives Congress.

The cleric, who dragged the three respondents before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja, asked the tribunal to, among other things, declare Buhari’s victory and the APC at the February 23 presidential election null and void.

Untitled document He said the name of his party and logo were unlawfully omitted from the ballot papers by INEC thereby denying him the opportunity of contesting the election.

Incidentally, the name and logo of the PDM appeared on the ballot papers of governorship, National Assembly and state assembly elections.

In the petition, which was marked CA/PEPC/004/2019 and filed on March 19, 2019 and obtained by The PUNCH, the PDM candidate said he and his party had spent a lot of money on campaigns and they felt cheated by INEC.

The reliefs read, “The first petitioner (Habu) was validly nominated by the second petitioner (PDM) but unlawfully excluded by the first respondent (INEC) from the election into the Office of the President held on February 23, 2019.

Attached to the petition are: a copy of INEC’s timetable, the timetable of the PDM and schedule of preparations for the 2019 general elections, pictures of the PDM convention and presidential primary, a copy of a letter from the PDM to INEC containing the list of its candidates in the elections and a copy of the ballot paper of the presidential election showing the absence of the party’s name and logo.

He said after he emerged winner of the primary, the PDM forwarded his name to INEC.

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last governorship election in Abia, Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has denied receiving money from Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu to forgo his plan of filing a suit against him at the Governorship Election Tribunal, Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

Untitled document Igbere TV learnt that there's been a rumoured report (not on Igbere TV) that Ikpeazu had settled Ogah with some money as part of a “post-election settlement deal” allegedly entered into earlier.

However, in a statement personally signed by Uche Ogah on Thursday, he said he was still going to challenge the outcome of the March 9 guber poll, insisting that it was no election but a “charade”.

Untitled document In the statement, which was made available to Igbere TV on Friday, the governorship candidate maintained that his party, APC has since rejected the results and called for cancellation of same, even before the polls were concluded.

Ogah said he was still consulting with stakeholders on whether to approach the election tribunal or not, but, however, insisted that not filing a suit at the end does not mean he has compromised.

“My attention has been drawn to news making the round that the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has paid me some money as part of a post-election settlement deal so that I can jettison plans to file a suit against him at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. This is not tue.

Untitled document “I have also heard that the Governor has said in various fora that I was the singular reason he has not performed well in his about-to-end-first-term. This, according to him, was due to the pre-election suit I instituted against him between 2015 and 2017 which challenged his eligibility to be candidate of the PDP for the Abia State governorship election in 2015. It may be recalled that when we followed up the matter to the Supreme Court and the Court entered judgment for him, we congratulated him. We also put that episode behind us and moved on.

“In 2019, I stood election as the governorship candidate of the APC. It is general knowledge that what happened on 9th March 2019 was no election. It was rather a charade. The so called election in Abia state was marred with unimaginable irregularities. We have since rejected the results and have called for the cancellation of same or at best, for it to be declared inconclusive as was done in other places.

Untitled document Instead, INEC chose to ignore us for reasons that have long emerged after the unfortunate manipulation of the results.

“Consequently, I have continued to consult stakeholders on the next line of action. If for any reason I decide not to go to the tribunal, it is not because I had been given money. I am priceless. I can never be bought. I never came into politics because I am poor or that I want to make money. I am only motivated by my vision for the state and my interest to develop and move it away from stagnancy and reposition the state for a greater future. Going to the tribunal will not entirely be my decision alone. If I do not file a petition as a candidate, our party must. There is, however, little or nothing I can do if my party, the APC, decides to approach the Tribunal and seek redress that will return victory to us. I am a party man and will respect any party decision in this regard.

Untitled document “I want to reiterate my love for Abia state. Our beloved State deserves the best. If we become like our neighbour-states that are speedily progressing in very many facets of governance indices, it won’t be a bad idea.

One is surprised that the blames for these leadership failures in our state could be heaped on me. My resort to courts for redress signifies my love for the rule of law and due process. I am not like those that trample on the rights of Abians via bad leadership and mindless looting of our common patrimony in the state; I rather, represent a leadership that seeks to hearken to their urgent call for better service and development of our State.
Our journey may be delayed but it must surely materialize. We are not losing hope. God will keep His promise that Abia will be free and under our leadership.

“Based on the foregoing, it is evident that Dr Ikpeazu has not offered or given me any dime to look the other way and allow him pillage our state or usurp my victory. Even though we can undoubtedly make sacrifices for our God's own state if and when there is need to, no one should take advantage of that. Our disposition for peace is never a sign of weakness or taken as a lack of courage. No one individual is greater than Abia State.

The product was showcased at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas and is called the “Father’s Nursing Assistant.”

PDP Cries Out, Says INEC Denying Atiku Access To Electoral Materials

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has refused to obey the March 6, 2019 ruling of the Appeal Court, directing it to allow the party’s presidential candidate for the February 23 poll, Atiku Abubakar, to inspect the documents and materials used during the election.

Untitled document Atiku and his party were in court, challenging INEC’s declaration that candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari won the election.

Untitled document The PDP, in a statement Saturday night by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said INEC had a deliberate and wicked agenda to frustrate Atiku’s bid to reclaim his “stolen” mandate.

The party however, appealed to INEC and APC to obey the court order by allowing Atiku to inspect the electoral materials and documents used in the elections.

“The leadership of INEC and the APC are seeking to frustrate our court option, seeing that the documents and materials will expressly show that Atiku Abubakar clearly won the election by the votes directly delivered at the polling units across the country as well as expose how the commission and the Buhari Presidency manipulated the results for President Buhari.

“The PDP cautions the INEC to note that Nigerians are now aware of its manipulative tendencies and that any further delay in granting access to the materials might attract public odium.

“INEC should therefore, end its unpatriotic partisan shenanigans with the APC and immediately obey the Court of Appeal and grant the PDP and Atiku Abubakar access to the documents and materials and free itself from unholy entanglement with the APC against Nigerians,” the PDP said.

Okorocha absent as INEC presents certificate to senators-elect.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday presented certificates of return to senators-elect.

Untitled document Conspicuously absent at the ceremony was the outgoing Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, whose election as a senator is being reviewed by INEC.

How Mr Okorocha was declared the winner of the Imo West senatorial election. The presiding officer, however, said he was forced to make the declaration under duress. It is based on that that the electoral commission removed Mr Okorocha’s name from the elected senators’ list and said it is reviewing the situation in the district.

The national chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, congratulated the elected senators in his opening speech.

He said INEC looks forward to working with the new senators for the good of the nation.

The new senators were elected by millions of Nigerians on February 23. Elections declared inconclusive then were concluded on March 9.

Untitled document Of the 100 senators whose elections have been confirmed by INEC, winners emerged from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Young Progressives Party (YPP).

Breaking: Lagos Conductor Stabs Igbo Boy To Death.

A boy serving his master (nwa boy) for ladipo came down from a bus at five-star bustop Oshodi way, asked the conductor for his change (hundred naira) the conductor picked a fight with him (normal for lagos).

Untitled document According to source, the boy is an igbo boy and has used his igbo bone to beat conductor black blue. Conductor couldn't take the beating so he decided to use weapon. He grabbed a knife and stabbed the boy to death. I don't even know where he got the knife.
