The dreaded rewrite.

It’s the one part of private label rights content that people don’t enjoy.  They know it’s faster than coming up with “from scratch” content, but they wish there was an easier way.

Unfortunately, there is no mechanized alternative that really make the process any quicker at a sufficient level of quality.

It is possible to get your rewriting done more quickly than you might think, however.  Consider these three tips:

First, start with quality PLR content. It’s easier to ingest, understand and rewrite material that was well-written to begin with.  Working with low-quality options is a chore.  Working with the good stuff is a joy.

Second, worry more about idea restatement and less about word substitution. Reaching for the thesaurus (real or online) when rewriting your material isn’t efficient and it’s not necessary.  If you come to grips with a  concept and rewrite it in your own terms, you’ll have a better chance of getting the job done quickly.

Third, work with one idea at a time, not one sentence. Don’t fall into the habit of trying to rewrite individual sentences.  Instead, try to think in terms of paragraphs and concepts.  This makes more quicker rewrites that work better than line-by-line efforts.

If you put those three tips to use, you’ll begin to feel less upset about rewriting your private label rights content.  It will be an easier job that you’ll be able to handle with more speed.

I was just sitting around playing with my laptop today (because the mother board in my main computer fried)…and decided to write a post that may help some affiliates understand this business better…

An Open Letter To All Affiliate Marketers:

There is a TON of information out there about how to make money online as an affiliate marketer right?

But there are 3 ideas that these guides leave out…which I am going to reveal here.  I feel these are important concepts to understand so you can really make the most of your affiliate business.

1)  This is a selling business. It’s not as simple as putting your links up on a site and hoping people click (they won’t without presell).  I equate affiliate marketing to commissioned sales offline (in fact, they are very much the same).  If you don’t want to sell, or haven’t mastered selling processes, get a copy of “Master the Art of Selling” by Tom Hopkins or a book like that FIRST before entering this arena.

If you flat out don’t like to sell, get out of this business, your ability to sell and market your offers in a value-added way to the right audience online is the “bread and butter” of affiliate marketing…period.

2)  Think outside the box that ebooks and course put you in. This is not a rant against the bad information out there on this subject (there is a lot of it), but if you have learned from a course or coaching of some type…don’t let that stop you from using your friggin’ imagination people.  Our brains are way too complex and powerful to stop at “doing what the course/coaching told me to.”

Think outside the box people. There’s nothing more frustrating for me to see than clients who say that “something won’t work because ‘x’ told me it wouldn’t work.”  Bullshit. Test it yourself and see if it works…let that test result form your opinion and never let anyone tell you something doesn’t work unless they have data or results to back up their opinion.

And…if you are the type who wants to figure this whole business out before going out and risking some and testing…let me give you a BIG secret here:

You’re NOT going to figure out this business and all the risks associated with it before you try. It doesn’t work that way.  Besides, by trying to figure it all out first, you’re actually opening yourself up to more harm than good…because what works for someone else, may not work for you any how.

So, if this describes you, quit going to forums with the question “If I do ____________, what results can I expect?” or a variation of that question.  The answers you get could be totally baseless, and wrong…and what good does that do you?

3)  Your whole affiliate marketing business world is NOT online. That’s right, I said it.  This does tie into number 2, but I felt this should be a separate subject…

Private partnerships that pay better than affiliate networks…offline affiliate businesses…talking to people instead of hiding behind your screen…etc…

Folks, this is freakin’ business, and business is about people, not about hiding.  If you don’t have the guts  to stand out and talk to people with the intention of building relationships that help build your business and theirs…get out of this business…it isn’t for you, and it’s very hard to succeed if you don’t get out there and talk to people.

What do I mean when I say talk to people?

Yep, I mean things like picking up the friggin’ telephone and talking to people, getting out of your office and talking to other business owners, going to seminars and actually doing some real networking…etc…

If you’re afraid to do those things, I am sorry to say that same fear will manifest itself in other ways and become a serious roadblock to success as an affiliate.

You need to learn the following to some degree (don’t let this paralyze you)…

Learn marketing, learn copywriting, learn selling, learn business building…then get to work talking to people and forming the relationships that will help you to thousands of dollars as an affiliate.

Do you ever follow those people on Twitter who don’t have photos?

I’ll be honest:  Unless I know the individual associated with the profile personally, I don’t.

That’s not because I hate that little default graphic Twitter supplies (although I do).  It’s mainly because experience has shown me that 99% of the accounts that don’t have a picture belong to spammers and robot accounts–not the kind of “people” I need in my social network.

So, if you don’t have a picture for your Twitter profile, for the most part, I’m not following you.  And I’m not alone.

You look suspicious.  You don’t appear to be invested in participating.  You bear a strange resemblance to a spambot.  That’s not your best look.

If you don’t have a picture up yet, get one there now. If, for some reason, you don’t have a little picture of yourself, find a stock photo of a cottonwood tree on a summer day or a cute puppy or something.  Just put something in that space…a friendly warning though…you’ll have to have another compelling reason for me to follow you without a picture of YOU on your profile.

Let us know that you’re a real person.  Please quit hiding behind your monitor.

I know we all like to focus on Twitter because of its simplicity.  However, it is important to use Twitter in combination with other social networking sites.  You want to be able to connect with your Twitter friends should something bad happen and the site go down, right?

Here are three sites that you can use in conjunction with Twitter to market your business.

1.    Twitter + Utterli = Stay connected with your tweeps when you are away from a computer.

Utterli is an utterly awesome tool in my opinion. You don’t have to have fancy equipment to post to Twitter if you have utterli.  Utterli has a feature that allows you to record audio posts right from your phone.  This can come in really handy if you are attending a tweetup and you want to let your tweeps know that you are at the designated location.  Utterli also cross posts to a lot of different networks too.

The neat thing about utterli’s cross posting feature is your friends don’t even have to join utterli for you to talk to them. It’s nice if they do join you on utterli.  This way if Twitter is down for whatever reason, you can still get in touch with that person.

2.    Another good tool to use in conjunction with Twitter is Skype.

Skype is a service that allows you to make phone calls from your computer.  You can also use skype to chat.  Skype is great when you and a tweep are holding a conversation that requires more than 140 characters to do it justice.  Skype is also good to use if you are discussing something private that you really don’t want the whole Twitterverse to know about.

3.    You can also use Facebook in conjunction with Twitter.

It’s important to connect with your Twitter friends on Facebook because some people are more comfortable with Facebook than they are with Twitter.  Facebook also allows you to build a deeper one on one connection with your Twitter friends because they have all of those applications and games.

A whole different article could be written about all of the different Facebook applications and how they can help your business.  That’s beyond the scope of this article.  Just be sure to invite your Twitter friends to friend you on Facebook (hey I didn’t make it up, they did) and you’ll have an additional way to contact them.

Twitter in and of itself is an excellent place to network and grow your business. However, it is important not to get too comfortable on any one social networking site.  You don’t want your business to sit at a standstill because someone decided to close down your favorite social media site.

There are different ways to get Twitter followers.  You can follow everyone and their house pets yourself, hoping that enough of them will reciprocate to boost your follower total through the stratosphere.

You can make a concerted effort to promote your Twitter URL at every turn, hoping to find new followers from the population that visits your website or blog.

There’s another way to do it.  The third route, by the way, is the one that works the best.

If you Tweet quality, you’ll get followers.  Good followers.  The kind who want to listen to what you say and who are willing to follow your advice.

When you’re Tweeting the “good stuff”, people notice.  They re-Tweet you.  They recommend you.  They respond to you.  And every time one those things happens, more people become aware of you and the fact that you’re doing something special on Twitter.

Want to get a nice big collection of rabid followers who can actually produce results?  Start bringing your “A” game to the Twittersphere.  When your dropping great Tweets, people will find you.  There’s a magnetic thing about quality that makes it happen.  Every time.
