ఆకివీడు: పట్టణంలోని పలు ప్రాంతాల్లో సీసీ రోడ్లు, పక్కా డ్రైయినేజీ సౌకర్యం కల్పించేందుకు నగర పంచాయతీ నిధులు కేటాయిస్తూ తీర్మానం చేసినట్లు చైర్‌పర్సన్ జామి హేమావతి చెప్పారు. చైర్‌పర్సన్ అధ్యక్షతన సర్వ సభ్య సమావేశం స్థానిక నగర పంచాయతీ సమావేశ హాలులో సోమవారం జరిగింది. సమావేశంలో మంచి నీటి సమస్య, శానిటేషన్ పనివాళ్ల సమస్యలపై, వీధిలైట్లు ఏర్పాటు వంటి వాటిపై చర్చించారు. అనంతరం అజెండాకు వచ్చిన అంశాల్ని సమావేశం ఏకగ్రీవంగా ఆమోదించింది. సమావేశం జరుగుతుండగానే టీడీపీ, జనసేన కౌన్సిలర్లు బయటకు వెళ్లిపోయారు.

అజెండాకు వచ్చిన సర్వే నంబర్ 473లో 2.32 ఎకరాల భూమి ఆక్రమణలు తొలగించి, స్థలం చుట్టూ ఆక్రమణలు జరగకుండా డైమండ్ ఆకారంలో ఫెన్సింగ్ నిర్మాణం చేపట్టేందుకు టెండర్లను ఆమోదించారు. ఆ ప్రాంతంలో స్థలం లెవిలింగ్ అయ్యే అంచనా వ్యయాన్ని టెండర్లు పిలవగా ఒక శాతం తక్కువతో వేసిన టెండర్లను సమావేశం ఆమోదించింది.

పట్టణంలోని పలు మంచి నీటి ట్యాంకుల వద్ద నుంచి మంచి నీరు శుద్ధి చేసి సరఫరా చేయుటకు అవసరమయ్యే లిక్విడ్ క్లోరిన్ కొనుగోలుకు సమావేశం తీర్మానం ఆమోదించింది. ప్రస్తుతం సిద్ధాపురం రోడ్డులో ఉన్న డంపింగ్ యార్డు ప్రాంతంలోని చెత్తను వేరే ప్రాంతంలో దిగుమతి చేయుటకు రూ.5 లక్షలతో పనులు చేపట్టేందుకు సమావేశం ఆమోదించింది.

స్థానిక అయిభీమవరంలో నగర పంచాయతీ స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్న 2.32 ఎకరాల భూమిలో 1.86 సెంట్లలోని ఎకరం భూమిలో నగర పంచాయతీ భవన నిర్మాణం, 86 సెంట్లలో వాలీబాల్ కోర్టు, షెటిల్ కోర్టు ఏర్పాటు చేసుకుని, లీజు దారులు వారి సొంత సొమ్ముతో అభివృద్ధి చేసుకునే విధంగా 3 ఏజెన్సీలకు ఇచ్చే విధంగా నగర పంచాయతీ ఏకగ్రీవంగా తీర్మానం చేసింది. సమావేశంలో నగర పంచాయతీ వైస్ చైర్మన్ పుప్పాల పండు, వైప్ పడాల శ్రీనివాస రెడ్డి, కౌన్సిలర్లు, కోఆప్షన్ సభ్యులు, కమిషనర్ జే. కృష్ణ మోహన్ పాల్గొన్నారు.

ఆకివీడు టౌన్: జాతీయ రహదారి నెం.165పై పలుచోట్ల కల్వర్టులు, రోడ్డు మార్జిన్లు శిథిలావస్థకు చేరి ప్రమాదకరంగా మారాయి. వేలాది వాహనాలు రాకపోకలు సాగిస్తున్న ఈ మార్గంలో చాలా కల్వర్టులు పురాతనమైనవి కావడంతో పిట్టగోడలు విరిగిపోయాయి. గంగానమ్మ కోడు, ఐబీ మువరం రోడ్డు, తెల్లవంతెన, మాదివాడ సెంటర్ల వద్ద కల్వర్టులు కుంగిపోయి, నీటి ప్రవాహానికి తీవ్ర అంతరాయం కలుగుతోంది. ఎదురుగా వాహనాలు వస్తే కిందపడిపోయే ప్రమాదముందని స్థానికులు ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. అధికారులు శాశ్వత మరమ్మతులు చేయకుండా, కేవలం రేడియం స్టిక్కర్లు, హెచ్చరిక బోర్డులతో సరిపెడుతున్నారనే విమర్శలున్నాయి. అలాగే, వర్షపు నీటితో నిండిన ప్రమాదకర మార్జిన్లు, ఆక్రమణల వల్ల రోడ్డుపై నీరు నిలిచి వాహనదారులు తీవ్ర ఇబ్బందులు పడుతున్నారు. ఇప్పటికైనా సంబంధిత ఎన్‌హెచ్ అధికారులు స్పందించి, శిథిలావస్థలో ఉన్న కల్వర్టులను పునరుద్ధరించాలని ప్రజలు కోరుతున్నారు.

పూడికతీత పనుల్లో ఇష్టారాజ్యం

ఆకివీడు టౌన్: ఆకివీడు నగర పంచాయతీలో అభివృద్ధి పనుల పేరిట అక్రమార్కులు కాసులు దండుకున్నారు. ప్రైవేటు వ్యక్తులకు అప్పగించిన చెరువుల ప్రక్షాళన పనులపై ఎలాంటి పర్యవేక్షణ లేకపోవడంతో.. భారీగా మట్టి తవ్వితరలించారు. ఇంత జరిగినా ఆ చెరువులు వినియోగంలోకి రాకపోగా గట్లు అస్తవ్యస్తంగా తయారయ్యాయి.

హద్దులు నిర్ణయించకుండానే..

ఆకివీడు పట్టణ నడిబొడ్డున సుమారు 5 ఎకరాల విస్తీర్ణంలో ఉండాల్సిన దొరగారి చెరువు భూముల్లో సుమారు 3 ఎకరాలు ఆక్రమణల చేరలో ఉన్నాయి. సుమారు 25 ఏళ్లుగా నిరుపయోగంగా ఉన్న ఈ చెరువును వినియోగంలోకి తెచ్చేందుకు.. కొంతమేర పూడిక మట్టిని తవ్వి తరలించుకునే వెసులుబాటుతో పనులను ఓ ప్రైవేటు వ్యక్తికి అప్పగించారు. దీంతో యంత్రాలతో లోతుగా తవ్వి ట్రాక్టర్లతో నెలల తరబడి మట్టి తరలించుకుపోయారు. పనులు ప్రారంభించక ముందు ఆ చెరువు భూమికి హద్దులు నిర్ణయించలేదు. చుట్టూ ఉన్న ఆక్రమణలను తొలగించకుండా మిగిలిన ఉన్న చెరువును లోతుగా తవ్వేయడంతో చివరకు ఊట గుంటలా మార్చేశారు. ఈ క్రమంలో గట్లు జారిపోవడంతో చుట్టూ కొంత మేర మట్టి పోసి పనులు పూర్తి చేసినట్లు చూపారు. చుట్టుపక్కల ఆక్రమిత ప్రాంతాల నుంచి ఊరుతున్న కలుషిత నీరంతా ఈ చెరువులోకి చేరగా.. దీనిని కప్పిపుచ్చేందుకు వెంకయ్యవయ్యేరు కాలువ నుంచి కొంత మేర నీటి తోడి వదిలేశారు. ఆక్రమణలను పూర్తిగా తొలగించి ఈ చెరువును ఆధునికీకరిస్తే భవిష్యత్తు అవసరాలకు ఉపయోగపడుతుందని ప్రజలు అభిప్రాయపడుతున్నారు

కొండయ్య చెరువులోనూ..

ఆకివీడు శివారులో 6.20 ఎకరాల విస్తీర్ణంలో ఉండే కొండయ్య చెరువు కూడా అనేక ఏళ్లుగా నిరుపయోగంగా ఉంది. దీనిని వినియోగంలోకి తెచ్చేందుకు తొలుత సర్వే చేసి హద్దులు నిర్ణయించారు. చెరువు భూమి రెండు ఎకరాల వరకు ఆక్రమణకు గురైందని అధికారులు గుర్తించారు. దీనిలో కొంత మేర మట్టిని తవ్వి తరలించుకునేలా మరో వ్యక్తికి పనులు అప్పగించారు. గతేడాది ఆగస్టులో ఈ పనులు ప్రారంభం కాగా నెలల తరబడి చెరువును లోతుగా తవ్వి మట్టిని తరలించారు. ఇక్కడ కూడా ఆక్రమణల తొలగింపుపై దృష్టి సారించలేదు. ప్రస్తుతం ఈ చెరువు నిండా ఊట నీరు చేరి పిచ్చి మొక్కలు పెరిగాయి. ఈ అంశాన్ని కమిషనర్ కృష్ణమోహన్ దృష్టికి తీసుకెళ్లగా ఆయా చెరువులను వినియోగంలోకి తీసుకొస్తామని, ఆక్రమణల తొలగింపు దిశగా చర్యలు తీసుకుంటామని చెప్పారు.

Doragari tank, spanning about 5 acres in the heart of Akividu town, has around 3 acres under encroachment. It has remained useless for nearly 25 years. To bring this tank back into utility, permission was given to a private individual to excavate and move some desilted soil. Consequently, they dug deeply using machinery and transported the soil for months using tractors.

Before starting the work, the boundaries of the tank land were not determined. Without clearing the surrounding encroachments, they dug the remaining tank area so deeply that it eventually turned into spring-water pits. In the process, because the bunds sloped down, they filled the surrounding areas with a small amount of soil and claimed the work was completed. Water oozing from surrounding encroached areas...

All the contaminated seepage water from the surrounding areas is flowing into this tank. To cover this up, some water was pumped into it from the Venkayyavoyyeru canal. People opine that if the encroachments are completely removed and the tank is modernized, it will serve future needs.

Even in Kondayya Tank...
Similarly, the Kondayya tank, spanning an area of 6.20 acres on the outskirts of Akividu, has also been lying useless for years. To bring it into utility, authorities initially conducted a survey and fixed the boundaries. Officials identified that about two acres of the tank land was subject to encroachment.

Permission was granted to another individual to excavate and shift a portion of the soil. Since last August, these works commenced, and soil was excavated and shifted deeply from the tank for months. Here too, no attention was paid to the removal of encroachments. Currently, this tank is filled with seepage water, and wild weeds have overgrown.

When this issue was brought to the attention of Commissioner Krishnamohan by 'News Today', he stated that steps would be taken to clear the encroachments and bring those tanks into public utility.

ఆకివీడు: మునిసిపల్ కుళాయిల ద్వారా శ్రీరామపురానికి రెండు నెలలుగా కలుషిత తాగునీరు సరఫరా అవుతోంది. మంచినీరు అందించాలని శుక్రవారం మహిళలు ఆందోళన చేపట్టారు. రంగుమారిన నురగ, దుర్వాసనతో కూడిన నీరు వస్తుందని ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేశారు. ఆ నీటితో స్నానం చేస్తుంటే ఒళ్లంతా దద్దుర్లు, దురదలు వస్తున్నాయని, పిల్లలు, వృద్ధులు అనారోగ్యం బారిన పడుతున్నారని వాపోయారు. అధికారులు ఈ నీటిని తాగితే తమ ఇబ్బందులు తెలుస్తాయని మండి పడ్డారు. మంచినీటి పైపులలో డ్రైనేజీ నీరు కలిసిపోవడంతో తాగునీరు కలుషితమవుతుందని వారు తెలిపారు. ఈ సమస్యపై నగర పంచాయతీ ఎఈఈ. నిమ్మల విజయ్‌కుమార్ మాట్లాడుతూ బాధితులు తమ దృష్టికి తీసుకురావడంతో శ్రీరామపురంలో పలుచోట్ల పైపులైన్లను పరీక్షించామన్నారు. డ్రైనేజీ నీరు కలుస్తున్న జాడలేదన్నారు. కుళాయి నీరు మురుగు, దుర్వాసన రావడంతో మరోసారి పరిశీలిస్తామన్నారు.

Contaminated Drinking Water Supply

ఐదుగురిని అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్న పోలీసులు: 2.6 కిలోల గంజాయి స్వాధీనం

ఆకివీడు :ఆకివీడులో శనివారం పోలీసులు గంజాయి బ్యాచ్‌ని పట్టుకున్నారు. ఆకివీడు శివారు ఉప్పుటేరు బ్రిడ్జి వద్ద మందపాడు వెళ్లే మార్గంలో ఉన్న డంపింగ్ యార్డ్ వద్ద గంజాయి పంచుకుంటున్న ఐదుగురిని పోలీసులు చాకచక్యంగా పట్టుకున్నారు. ఆకివీడు సీఐ కార్యాలయంలో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన విలేకరుల సమావేశంలో వివరాలను సీఐ కాశీ చరణ్ వివరించారు.

ఆకివీడు స్టేషన్ రోడ్ లోని రెడ్డి వీధికి చెందిన బళ్లారి కీర్తి రాజు, సమతా నగర్ కు చెందిన కొమ్మారెడ్డి సత్యనారాయణ, దుంప గడప తిమ్మరాజు కాలనీకి చెందిన శాఖా సంజయ్, ఆకివీడులోని జవహర్ పేటకు చెందిన కొమ్ము పెద్దిరాజు, చినకాపవరం గ్రామానికి చెందిన తోకల రాజులను అరెస్టు చేసి వీరి వద్ద నుండి రెండు కేజీల 600 గ్రాముల గంజాయి స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్నట్లు సీఐ వివరించారు.

ఆకివీడు: పట్టణం, మండలం పరిధిలో గురువారం రాత్రి వేగంగా వీచిన గాలి, వర్షానికి విద్యుత్తు సరఫరాకు అంతరాయం కలిగింది. ఆకివీడు పరిధిలో 10 విద్యుత్తు పరివర్తకాలు పాడయ్యాయి. పలు చోట్ల చెట్ల కొమ్మలు తీగలపై తెగిపడ్డాయి. ధర్మాపురం అగ్రహారం, కుప్పనపూడి, అజ్జమూరు, మండపాడు, పెదకాపవరం, చినకాపవరం తదితర గ్రామాల పరిధిలో చెట్లు విరిగి పడ్డాయి. 12 స్తంభాలు ఒరిగిపోయాయి. దీంతో ఆకివీడు పట్టణంతో పాటు గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల్లో అంతా అంధకారం అలుముకొంది. ఆ శాఖ అధికారులు, సిబ్బంది మరమ్మతులు పనుల్లో నిమగ్నమయ్యారు. దశలవారీగా విద్యుత్తు సరఫరాను పునరుద్ధరించారు. రొయ్యల సాగుదారులు జనరేటర్ల ద్వారా ఏరియేటర్లను తిప్పారు. డీజిల్ కోసం అర్ధరాత్రి పెట్రోల్ బంకులకు పరుగులు తీశారు. విద్యుత్తు సరఫరా లేక ఉక్కపోతతో అన్ని వయసుల వారు ఆపసోపాలు పడ్డారు.

Devastation Due to Untimely Rain

Akividu : Strong winds and rain on Thursday night disrupted the power supply across the town and mandal limits. Within Akividu limits, 10 electricity transformers were damaged. At several places, tree branches fell onto the power lines, snapping them. Trees were uprooted in villages including Dharmapuram Agraharam, Kuppanapudi, Ajjamuru, Mandapadu, Pedakapavaram, and Chinakapavaram. Twelve electrical poles bent over. ఆకివీడు గ్రామీణ: యాప్ ఆధారిత ముఖ హాజరు నమోదు ప్రక్రియ ఉపాధి శ్రామికులకు పెద్ద సమస్యగా మారింది. సిగ్నల్ందనిచోట వారి అవస్థలు వర్ణనాతీతం. పని ప్రదేశాలకు దూరంగా సిగ్నల్ ఉన్న చోటకు వెళ్లాల్సి వస్తోంది. అప్పటికిగానీ హాజరు నమోదు కావడం లేదు. పలు మండలాలు, కొల్లేరు తీర ప్రాంత గ్రామాల పరిధిలో సిగ్నల్ లేని ప్రదేశాలలో ముఖ హాజరుకు కూలీలు రోజూ తంటాలు పడుతున్నారు. సిగ్నల్ అందే ప్రాంతానికి శ్రామికులు హాజరు నమోదు కోసం మేట్లు, ఫీల్డ్ అసిస్టెంట్లు తీసుకెళ్తున్నారు. పనిచేసినా యాప్‌లో హాజరు నమోదు కాలేదంటే శ్రామికులకు ఆ రోజు వేతనం రాదు. దీంతో ఈ ప్రక్రియ పూర్తయ్యే వరకు వేచిచూడాల్సి వస్తుందని కూలీలు ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. పలువురు వృద్ధుల హాజరు నమోదులో మరింత ఇబ్బందులు ఎదురవుతున్నాయి.

అమలు కాని ప్రత్యామ్నాయ ఏర్పాట్లు.. సిగ్నల్ సమస్య ఉన్నచోట ముఖ హాజరుకు అధికారులు చేసిన ప్రత్యామ్నాయ ఏర్పాట్లు అమలు కావట్లేదు. సిగ్నల్ సమస్య ఉన్నప్పుడు ముఖ హాజరును తీసుకుని యాప్‌లో ఆ వివరాలు సేవ్ చేయాలి. సిగ్నల్ ఉన్న ప్రాంతాలకు 5-7 రోజుల వ్యవధిలో సిబ్బంది వెళ్లి యాప్‌లో ఆ వివరాలను సబ్మిట్ చేయాలి. దీంతో హాజరు నమోదు కోసం గంటల తరబడి పడిగాపులు పడాల్సిన అవసరం ఉండదు. ఈ విషయాన్ని పీడీ అప్పారావు దృష్టికి 'న్యూస్‌టుడే' తీసుకెళ్లగా పరిశీలించి హాజరు నమోదులో ఎదురవుతున్న సమస్యల పరిష్కారానికి చర్యలు తీసుకుంటామన్నారు.

Akividu Rural: The app-based facial attendance registration process has become a major problem for NREGS wage seekers. Their plights in areas without network signals are beyond description. They are forced to walk far away from their workplaces to locations where signals are available. Only then is their attendance getting registered. In several mandals and villages along the Kolleru coastal region, laborers struggle daily for facial attendance in signal-free zones. Mates and Field Assistants are taking workers to areas with network connectivity just to record attendance. If attendance is not registered in the app despite working, the laborers do not receive their wages for that day. Consequently, laborers express grief that they have to wait endlessly until this process is completed. Several elderly individuals face even worse difficulties in getting their attendance recorded.

Alternative Arrangements Unimplemented.. The alternative arrangements made by officials for facial attendance in signal-deficit areas are not being implemented. When there is a signal issue, the facial attendance should be captured and saved offline in the app. The staff should then travel to an area with network connectivity within 5-7 days to submit those details in the app. This would eliminate the need to wait for hours just for attendance registration. When 'NewsToday' brought this matter to the attention of PD Apparao, he stated that they would examine the issue and take action to resolve the problems faced in attendance registration.

The post-mortem center building remains a mere ornament It has been three years since a post-mortem center and an assistant post raised for it were sanctioned at the Akividu Community Health Center (CHC). The building was inaugurated a month ago. Despite this, post-mortem examinations are not being conducted. Even though all facilities are available, bodies have to be shifted to the Bhimavaram Government Hospital. Because of this, aggrieved families and the police face unnecessary expenses and hardships. On Wednesday, the Honorable High Court heard a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Jayanti Unnamma. Representing the petitioner, Jada Shravan Kumar presented various arguments, claiming facts were hidden, that the site was the "Thadu Gontanamma" temple, public land, or government land, and disputing whether it was 4 cents or 40 cents of land.

However, the Court observed that these claims lacked factual merit. Furthermore, when questioned how a new petition could be filed while a previous writ petition on the same matter was already active, the counsel could not provide a satisfactory answer. Consequently, the court dismissed the case.

Senior Advocate Y. V. Ravi Prasad, appearing on behalf of the state respondents and the Sri Rama Temple Development Committee, submitted all necessary evidence. He stated that the Chief Justice of the High Court agreed with the evidence and ruled in favor of the Temple Committee.

Prominent advocate and Secretary of the Andhra Ayodhya Sri Rama Temple Development Committee, Jaddu Durga Prasad, issued a statement confirming that the groundbreaking ceremony will proceed as planned on May 3rd. He mentioned that Undi MLA Raghu Rama Krishna Raju and the Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh (who is also the Honorary President of the committee) were involved in the process. He invited all devotees to attend the ceremony and receive the blessings of Sita and Rama.

ఆకివీడు: ఆకివీడులో ఏళ్ల చరిత్ర కలిగిన గ్రంథాలయం ప్రస్తుతం గిడ్డంగిగా మారింది. ఆకివీడు సంత మార్కెట్ వద్ద ఉన్న ఈ గ్రంథాలయం పాడైపోవడంతోపాటు వర్షం వస్తే లోపల నీళ్లు నిలబడేవి. అధికారులు, పాలకులు పట్టించుకోకపోవడంతో పూర్తిగా నిర్లక్ష్యానికి గురైంది. ఒకప్పుడు ఈ గ్రంథాలయం విజ్ఞాన గని. ఈ గ్రంథాలయంలో పుస్తకాలు, పత్రికలు అనేకం ఉండేవి. పుస్తకాలు కావాల్సిన వారు నాలుగు రోజులు ముందుగానే బుక్ చేసుకుని పట్టుకెళ్లేవారు. అడిగిన వారికి గ్రంథాలయ అధికారి ప్రాధాన్యం ప్రకారం పుస్తకాలను అందిస్తూ ఉండేవారు. అధిక సంఖ్యలో చదువరులు వచ్చేవారు.

అరవై ఏళ్ల పైబడి నుంచి కొనసాగుతున్న ఈ గ్రంథాలయం సుమారు 2019 వరకు కళకళలాడుతూ ఉండేది. వెయ్యికి పైగా పుస్తకాలతో పాటు పది రకాల దినపత్రికలు, వారపత్రికలు, ఎంప్లాయ్ మెంట్ న్యూస్, పక్షపత్రికలు, మాస పత్రికలు ఉండేవి. నిరుద్యోగులు అనేక మంది ఈ గ్రంథాలయంలో దిన పత్రికలు చదివి ఉద్యోగాలు సాధించిన యువకులు అనేక మంది ఉన్నారు. అంతటి ఘన చరిత్ర కలిగిన గ్రంథాలయం నేడు పూర్తిగా కనుమరుగైంది. పుస్తకాలు ఏమయ్యాయో తెలియని పరిస్థితి నెలకొంది.

Akividu: A library in Akividu with years of history has now turned into a godown (warehouse). This library, located near the Akividu Market Center, has been completely neglected by officials and rulers; the building is dilapidated, and water stagnates inside whenever it rains.

Once, this library was a treasure trove of knowledge. It used to house numerous books and journals. Those who wanted specific books would reserve them four days in advance. The librarian would prioritize and provide books to readers based on demand. A large number of readers used to visit regularly.

This library, which has been functioning for over sixty years, was vibrant until approximately 2019. It contained over a thousand books along with ten types of daily newspapers, weeklies, employment news, fortnightlies, and monthly magazines. Many unemployed youths secured jobs after studying the newspapers and materials in this library. Today, a library with such a great history has completely vanished. The current status of those books remains unknown.

Resolution Passed for Temple Reconstruction

Akividu, NewsToday: The councillors of Akividu have passed a resolution in favor of reconstructing the Ramalayam (Rama Temple) in the Pedapeta area. ఆకివిడు : అధికారులు, పాలకుల నిర్లక్ష్యానికి అవిశాల (ఐసా) మీడియం డ్రెయిన్ కుంచించుకుపోయింది. పట్టించుకునే నాథుడే లేక పూర్తిగా నిరుపయోగమైపోయింది. అధికారులకు గీట్లదు, పాలకులకు పట్టదు అన్న చందంగానే మీడియం డ్రెయిన్ నలిగిపోతుంది. ఆయకట్టు రైతులు అల్లాడిపోతున్నారు. ఏటా భారీ వర్షాలకు, ఎగువ నుంచి వచ్చే అదనపు నీటితో ఆయకట్టు భూములు ముంపుకు గురవుతున్నాయి. మండలంలోని కొత్తూరు, రాజలపేట, అకివీడు గ్రామాల పరిధిలో సుమారు 8 వేల ఎకరాల ఆయకట్టుకు మురుగు డ్రెయిన్‌గా ఉన్న అవిశాల కాలువ విశాలాన్ని కోల్పోయింది. సరిహద్దు రైతుల ఆక్రమణలతో కుంచించుకుపోయింది. గతంలో ఎనిమిది వేల ఎకరాల్లో పండిన ధాన్యాన్ని పడవలపై అకివీడు ప్రాంతంలోని రైస్ మిల్లులకు తోలి రైతులు అమ్ముకునేవారు. నేడు ఆ పరిస్థితి లేదు. వ్యవసాయం తగ్గిపోయింది. ఈ ప్రాంతంలో నాలుగు వేల ఎకరాల వరకూ చేపలు, రొయ్యల చెరువులుగా మారి వాటి పెంపకం జరుగుతోంది. సరిహద్దుల్లో మీడియం డ్రెయిన్ గట్టును ఆక్రమించి చెరువు గట్లు తవ్వేశారని వరి రైతులు ఆవేదన చెందుతున్నారు. సుమారు మూడు మీటర్ల వెడల్పు నుంచి ఐదు మీటర్ల వెడల్పు వరకూ సుమారు ఏడు కిలోమీటర్ల విస్తీర్ణంలో మురుగు కోడు ఉంది.

గతంలో టీడీపీ ప్రభుత్వం ఏర్పాటు చేసిన నీటి సంఘాల ప్రతినిధులు తీవ్ర నిర్లక్ష్యం వహించి మీడియం డ్రెయిన్‌ను పట్టించుకోలేదు. అదే పరిస్థితి నేటికీ కొనసాగుతోంది. నీటి సంఘ చైర్మన్లుగా ఉన్న వ్యక్తులు కాలువ కోడ గట్లు చేర్చి చెరువు గట్లు నిర్మించుకున్నారనే ఆరోపణలు వెల్లువెత్తుతున్నాయి. కాలువ కోడ గట్లు కనిపించకుండా పోతున్నాయి. కాలువలో మూడు అడుగుల తూరలు ఏర్పాటు చేసి అడ్డుకట్టగా కాలిబాట మార్గాలు ఏర్పాటు చేసుకున్నారు. దీనితో ఎగువ ప్రాంతం నుంచి ముంపునీరు, వర్షపు నీరు దిగువకు ప్రవహించకుండా సరిహద్దు పొలాల్ని ముంచెత్తుతోందని రైతులు ఆందోళన చెందుతున్నారు. ఏళ్ల తరబడి ఇదే పరిస్థితి కొనసాగుతుంటే రైతులు ఆర్థికంగా తీవ్ర నష్టానికి గురవుతున్నారు. కుంచించుకుపోయిన మురుగు కాల్వలోకి చేపలు, రొయ్యల చెరువుల నీటిని వదిలివేయడం వల్ల కూడా వరి చేలకు ముప్పు ఏర్పడుతోందంటున్నారు. పంట చేతికి అందివచ్చే సమయానికి ముంపుకు గురవుతుందంటున్నారు. మురుగు కాల్వను తవ్వించాలని నీటి సంఘాల చైర్మన్లు ఇదే ప్రాంతంలో చెరువుల సాగు చేస్తున్నా కాలువను పట్టించుకోవడంలేదని వాపోతున్నారు.

ప్రతిపాదనలు పంపాం: మేమేమీ చేయలేం

అవిశాల (ఐసా) మీడియం డ్రెయిన్ తవ్వకానికి ఏటా ప్రతిపాదనలు పంపుతున్నామని, ప్రభుత్వాలు నిధులు కేటాయించడంలేదని డ్రైయినేజీ శాఖ అధికారులు చేతులెత్తేస్తున్నారు. డ్రెయిన్ తవ్వకం పనులు ఎలా ఉన్నా, ఆక్రమణల్ని తొలగించాల్సిన పనుల్ని కూడా మేమేమీ చేయలేం అంటూ చేతులు దులుపుకుంటున్నారని పలువురు రైతులు ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. ఈ ఏడాది రూ. 10 లక్షలకు ఎస్టిమేట్లు వేసి పంపామని, నిధుల లేమితో మంజూరు అయ్యే అవకాశం లేదని అధికారులు చెప్పడం ఆశ్చర్యకరంగా ఉందని రైతులు ఎద్దేవా చేస్తున్నారు.

తవ్వుకుంటాం... అనుమతివ్వండి!

మీడియం డ్రెయిన్ తవ్వకం పనుల్ని రైతులే చేపట్టేందుకు సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నారు. రైతులంతా కలిసి పూడిక పనులు, ఆక్రమణల తొలగింపు పనులు చేపట్టి, మీడియం డ్రెయిన్‌ను రక్షించుకుంటామని మొరపెట్టుకుంటున్నారు. డ్రైయినేజీ అధికారులు, రెవెన్యూ అధికారులు సమన్వయంతో సమస్యను పరిష్కరించాలని విజ్ఞప్తి చేస్తున్నారు. డ్రెయిన్ ముఖభాగం నుంచి శివారు ప్రాంతం వరకూ సర్వే చేసి అప్పగిస్తే ఈ ఏడాది మే నెలలోనే తవ్వకం పనులు చేపట్టి, పూర్తి చేస్తామని, అందుకు ప్రజాప్రతినిధులు సహకరించాలని కోరుతున్నారు.

Avisala Medium Drain Narrowed Due to Encroachments

Akividu: Due to the negligence of officials and political leaders, the Avisala (Iasa) medium drain has shrunk significantly. With no one to look after it, it has become completely useless. It is being crushed between officials who don’t care and leaders who don’t pay attention. Local farmers are suffering greatly. Every year, heavy rains and additional water from upstream cause the cultivated lands to flood. In the Akividu mandal area, covering Kotturu, Rajalapeta, and Akividu villages, the Avisala canal has lost its original width, which once served as a drainage system for about 8,000 acres. Encroachments by neighboring farmers have caused it to narrow. In the past, farmers used boats on this canal to transport their harvested grain to rice mills in the Akividu area. That is no longer possible. Agriculture has declined, and about 4,000 acres in this region have been converted into fish and shrimp ponds. Rice farmers are distressed, claiming that the canal banks have been encroached upon to build pond bunds. The drainage channel, which once stretched for about seven kilometers with a width of three to five meters, is now severely compromised.

Negligence of Past Water Association Representatives

In the past, representatives of the water associations formed by the TDP government were highly negligent and did not care for the medium drain. This situation continues today. Allegations are surfacing that those serving as chairmen of the water associations have used the canal banks to build their own pond bunds. The original canal markers are disappearing. Three-foot pipes have been placed in the canal and blocked to create walkways. Farmers are worried that this prevents flood and rainwater from upstream from flowing downstream, instead submerging neighboring fields. As this situation persists for years, farmers are facing severe financial losses. They argue that releasing water from fish and shrimp ponds into the narrowed drainage canal also poses a threat to the remaining paddy fields. They lament that the fields flood just as the crop is ready for harvest. They complain that while the chairmen of the water associations are themselves farming ponds in the same area, they are not bothered about desilting the drainage canal.

"Proposals Sent; We Can Do Nothing"

Drainage department officials are washing their hands of the matter, stating that they send proposals every year for desilting the Avisala (Iasa) medium drain, but the governments are not allocating funds. Regardless of the desilting work, farmers are distressed that officials claim they cannot even perform the task of removing encroachments. Officials surprisingly told farmers that they sent estimates for ₹10 lakh this year, but there is no chance of approval due to a lack of funds—a claim that farmers found ridiculous.

"We Will Dig It Ourselves... Just Give Permission!"

Farmers are ready to undertake the desilting of the medium drain themselves. They are pleading for permission to collectively handle the desilting and removal of encroachments to save the Avisala drain. They are requesting that drainage and revenue officials coordinate to solve the problem. Farmers say that if a survey is conducted from the head of the drain to the tail-end area and handed over to them, they will complete the desilting work this May. They are seeking the cooperation of public representatives for this effort.

ఆకివీడు: మండలంలోని కలవపూడి-గణపవరం (కే-జీ రహదారి) పునర్నిర్మాణ పనుల్లో భాగంగా చేరుకుమిల్లి-ఏలూరుపాడు రోడ్డు నిర్మాణ పనులు నత్త కన్నా నెమ్మదిగా సాగుతున్నాయి. గత కొన్నేళ్లుగా ఈ రోడ్డు నిర్మాణ పనులు వాయిదా పడుతూ వచ్చింది. రోడ్డు పుననిర్మాణ పనులు చేపట్టి నాలుగు నెలలు కావస్తున్నా నిర్మాణ పనుల్లో వేగం లేదని ఆయా గ్రామాల ప్రజలు ఆవేదన వ్యక్తంచేస్తున్నారు. రోడ్డు ప్యాచ్‌వర్కులు పూర్తి చేసి, పునర్నిర్మాణం చేపట్టాల్సి ఉంది. కొన్ని చోట్ల తారురోడ్డు, మరికొన్ని చోట్ల సీసీ రోడ్డు నిర్మిస్తున్నారు.

అయిభీమవరం సరిహద్దు నుండి చేరుకుమిల్లి గ్రామంలోని సాయిబాబా గుడి వరకూ సీసీ రోడ్డు నిర్మాణం అక్కడ నుంచి ఏలూరుపాడు వంతెన వరకూ తారు రోడ్డు నిర్మించాల్సి ఉంది. అయిభీమవరం సరిహద్దులో సీసీ రోడ్డు నిర్మాణ పనులు ప్రారంభించి 20 మీటర్ల మేర మొదటి లేయర్ వేశారు. చేరుకుమిల్లి ప్రధాన సెంటర్‌లో రోడ్డు వంకర లేకుండా నిదానంగా వెళ్లే విధంగా అక్కడ ఉన్న ఆలయాల ఆక్రమణలను తొలగించారు. నాలుగు గుడులు, ఒక శిలువ ఉన్న మందిరాలను తొలగించారు. దీంతో ఆ ప్రాంతంలో రోడ్డు విస్తరణ జరుగుతుంది. నిధులు మంజూరైనా కూడా పనుల్లో తీవ్ర జాప్యం అవుతుండడంతో స్థానికులు, వాహనచోదకులు, ప్రయాణికులు తీవ్ర ఇబ్బందులు పడుతున్నారు. రోడ్డుపై ఉన్న కంకర మట్టి వాహనాలు వెళ్లే సమయంలో ఎగిరిపోయి దట్టంగా అలముకుంటుందని, దీనివల్ల ద్విచక్రవాహనాలపై వెళ్లే వారు తీవ్ర ఇబ్బంది పడుతున్నామని వాపోతున్నారు. ఇకనైనా రోడ్డు నిర్మాణ పనులను వేగవంతం చేయాలని కోరుతున్నారు.

Akividu: As part of the reconstruction of the Kalavapudi-Ganapavaram (K-G Road) in the mandal, the construction work on the Cherukumilli-Elurupadu road is progressing slower than a snail's pace. For several years, these road construction works have been postponed. Despite four months passing since the reconstruction began, residents of the respective villages are expressing distress over the lack of speed in the work. Patchwork needs to be completed before reconstruction starts. Asphalt (tar) roads are being built in some places, while CC (Cement Concrete) roads are being constructed in others.

The Current Situation:

A CC road is to be constructed from the Aibhimavaram border to the Saibaba Temple in Cherukumilli village, and from there to the Elurupadu bridge, a tar road is planned. Construction of the CC road began at the Aibhimavaram border, where the first layer has been laid for about 20 meters. To ensure the road at the main Cherukumilli center is straight and safe, encroachments by temples were removed. Four temples and one shrine with a cross were relocated, facilitating road expansion in that area.

Even though funds have been sanctioned, there is a severe delay in the works, causing great difficulty for locals, drivers, and travelers. They complain that gravel and dust from the road fly up and settle thickly when vehicles pass, making it especially difficult for two-wheeler riders. They are requesting that the road construction works be accelerated at least now.

Every Thursday, a gas van is supposed to come, but for the past two weeks, consumers have been complaining about severe difficulties in the supply of Indian Gas. They are expressing their distress, saying they are exhausted from waiting for hours with empty cylinders. Some even said they might have to stage a protest with their gas cylinders in the intense heat. They are urging the Indian Gas dealer to respond immediately and resolve the gas issue. BSP Leaders Attempt to Visit Akividu

Bhimavaram: On Friday, leaders of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) attempted to travel to Akividu regarding a dispute over the Pedapeta Ramalayam (Rama Temple).

In response, a large police force—led by Bhimavaram DSP Raghuveer Vishnu and including CIs Naga Raju, Kashicharan, and Srinivas, along with SIs Rama Rao and Kiran Kumar—was deployed in Bhimavaram to block them.

The police informed the leaders that Section 144 was in effect in Akividu and advised them not to go. Consequently, the BSP leaders held a protest at the Ambedkar statue in Bhimavaram instead.

During the protest, BSP State President Gautham Kumar expressed concern, stating that attacks on Dalits and Dalit Christians have increased since the alliance government took office.
