Maybe, our machine has been attached by someone with brute force SSH method. We can use firewall to prevent SSH brute force attack, or we can use sshguard, sshdfilter, or denyhosts to block brute force. This tools will block SSH brute force attack automatically. In here, I will use denyhosts to prevent SSH brute force on my machine.

At times, our lack of attention to what is the amount of disk usage is used by our server. Based on experience, a lot of admin Diskspace ignored this problem. Usually the only monitor traffic in and out that could be "captured" through the existing Ethernet. And if you note, actually we really need information about how the rest of our hard disk capacity, or how much is already in use. Monitoring capacity is necessary if we are using the machines we make, requires hard drive capacity is not to run out. For example for a proxy server, database server, and so on.

Sometimes, we forget something. One of them is the password to the backend of our website using Joomla 1.5 engine, where we are located as Super Administrator. We have been updating Joomla models password encryption in the system. If at the previous Joomla or Joomla 1.0, Joomla uses MD5 encryption alone. We can easily replace it, by going to our database using phpmyadmin, then we replace our passwords with MD5 mode plus the password field.

But for now, it can no longer do. Joomla 1.5 is currently using a combination of encryption and encryption encryption MD5 salt. Before we go any further, there is a quick information about encryption and MD5 encryption salt.

A new breakthrough in the world of Linux. The developers of China has done many things on his ubuntu 9.10. They have done "face off" on the Ubuntu display changed to 9.10 which look similar to Windows XP. Starting from the log until the taskbar, at first glance there is no difference with Windows XP.

Especially when we use the services based ADSL connection. Perhaps we feel that our connection was slower than connections in other places that use the same service. Before discussing the conditions of our internet connection, it may be useful we need to know first, what is ADSL?

ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line which is one of the DSL technology. According to Wikipedia, features of ADSL is its asymmetric, namely that the data transferred in a different speed from one side to the other side.

ADSL is highly influenced by many factors, such as:

Yahoo Messenger is one of the existing Instant Messenger and Yahoo issued. There are tips and tricks so that we can save more bandwidth than Yahoo Messenger is (very useful for Internet users based quotas). Namely by removing existing ads on Yahoo Messenger Window. There are a few that we must do in order to eliminate the different versions ini. Because different versions, different way, too.

Yahoo Messenger 9 Problems In Send Files?

Often times, we send the file by using the facilities Send Files from Yahoo Messenger. In addition to practical, too fast. However, if we are using Yahoo Messenger version 9.0.0.1912 or 9.0.0.2034 version, we will have difficulty in sending the file through the facilities of Send File.

Some time ago, along with several colleagues, I am doing research, whether true Yahoo Messenger 9 is there a bug in the Send File. First experiment, by sending files of 176KB, the result of Success. Then the file size increased to 660KB, the first attempt to send files FAIL, after the start until the third time, finally SUCCESS. Then, try to send files with 1.1 MB size results SUCCESS. Then try again, with a 1.6 MB file size, the results VAIN, although at times try to try to restart the application Messernger Yahoo still FAIL.

Jangan deh. Males.

Mungkin, kita pernah mengalami, bahkan sering mengalami.

Sometime we had a script for running process in remote machine. In this case, we need to setup SSH with no-password to remote another machine and run process what we need.
The basic idea is, however, that in the cryptosystem that ssh uses (RSA or/and DSA) the encription and decription are done using diferent keys
Basically, what the user (client) needs is to generate a public/private key pair. The server will know the public key, but only the client will know the private key.

The highest resolution commercial Earth imaging satellite to date, the GeoEye-1, was launched over the weekend on a Delta-II rocket that carried the Google logo alongside the GeoEye logo on its side. The satellite was built as part of the U.S. National Geospatial Agency’s NextView program under which the agency shared the costs of engineering, construction and launch of new generation satellites to support the commercial satellite imaging industry. For the GeoEye-1 satellite the agency funded about US$237 million of the total $502 million price tag. The agency has also committed to buying imaging data from the satellite for at least the first year and a half of operations.

Short for Domain Name System (or Service or Server), an Internet service that translates domain names into IP addresses. Because domain names are alphabetic, they're easier to remember. The Internet however, is really based on IP addresses. Every time you use a domain name, therefore, a DNS service must translate the name into the corresponding IP address.

Netwatch monitors state of hosts on the network. It does so by sending ICMP pings to the list of specified IP addresses. For each entry in netwatch table you can specify IP address, ping interval and console scripts.

If you want to know utilization or performance your Squid Proxy, you can use MRTG to monitoring Squid Proxy. This can do, because Squid Proxy support SNMP and you must configure squid with SNMP support.

Dark fiber is a term used to describe fiber optic cable that is not being used at the time. The amount of dark fiber, particularly in the United States, is very high. Dark fiber is contrasted with active fiber optic cable, often referred to as lit cable.

In the past, dark fiber was virtually never sold. Telecommunications companies considered it their core asset, and selling it would be akin to selling off their business. Due to an incredible glut in the market, however, selling dark fiber has become extremely viable and is now a practice of many major telecommunications companies.

In a Case, there is my client wishing topology in its(the network using machine Mikrotik which will be joined forces with Squid, where this Squid stays in machine FreeBSD. He wishs, arrangement of shaping easily, by using Simple Queue.

If topology like this : INET ------- Mikrotik --------- SQUID -------- Client

Bandwidth Management is handle by SQUID. We wanted is like this :

INET | Mikrotik ---- SQUID | Client

So, shaping to client is handle by Mikrotik.

The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is one of the core protocols of the Internet protocol suite. TCP provides reliable, in-order delivery of a stream of bytes, making it suitable for applications like file transfer and e-mail. It is so important in the Internet protocol suite that sometimes the entire suite is referred to as "the TCP/IP protocol suite." TCP is the transport protocol that manages the individual conversations between web servers and web clients. TCP divides the HTTP messages into smaller pieces, called segments, to be sent to the destination client. It is also responsible for controlling the size and rate at which messages are exchanged between the server and the client.

Want a list of users on your FreeBSD?

If you ever want a list of users on your system, use this little script:

cat /etc/passwd | cut -d: -f1 | grep -v \#

The cut command selects portions of a file. Use ":" as the delimiting character. And we want only the first field. The grep eliminates lines with # in them, which normally appear at the start of the password file. Exercises for the interested and motivated:

try the above command without the grep

remove the \ before the #

try -f5 instead of -f1.

Hope that helps.

Thank's to : The FreeBSD Diary

SPEEDUP FOLDER ACCESS - DISABLE LAST ACCESS UPDATE If you have a lot of folders and subdirectories on your computer, when you access a directory XP wastes a lot of time updating the time stamp showing the last access time for that directory and for ALL sub directories. To stop XP doing this you need to edit the registry. If you are uncomfortable doing this then please do not attempt.

Cacti is a complete frontend to RRDTool, it stores all of the necessary information to create graphs and populate them with data in a MySQL database. The frontend is completely PHP driven. Along with being able to maintain Graphs, Data Sources, and Round Robin Archives in a database, cacti handles the data gathering. There is also SNMP support for those used to creating traffic graphs with MRTG.

Layer7 Protocol is a method of looking for patterns in connections. It can classify packets as Kazaa, HTTP, Jabber, Citrix, Bittorrent, FTP, Gnucleus, eDonkey2000, etc., regardless of port.
There are two types of interface (tunnel) items in PPTP server configuration - static users and dynamic connections. An interface is created for each tunnel established to the given server. Static interfaces are added administratively if there is a need to reference the particular interface name (in firewall rules or elsewhere) created for the particular user. Dynamic interfaces are added to this list automatically whenever a user is
