Labuan F.T. celebrate the closing ceremony of Federal Territory Day.

Labuan F.T. was selected to host the closing ceremony of Federal Territory Day for the year 2010. The celebration took part at Labuan Square where thousands of public members flocked the venue for the main event which held annually.

Among the VIPs present were Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin and Labuan MP Datuk Yussof Mahal.

Visitors were entertained by numbers of Malaysian artist such as Stacy and Vince from Akademi Fantasia, Abu Bakar Ellah and Herman Tino.

The closing ceremony marked with the fireworks show that lasts for almost 5 minutes.

Chap Goh Meh festival in Labuan

Chinese community in Labuan F.T. celebrated Chap Goh Meh festival this year on the 28th February. It was celebrated in big scale with devotees visiting four stations mainly in Rancha-Rancha area.

Chap Goh Meh or Tzap Goh Mei (Chinese: 十五暝; pinyin: shí wǔ míng; literally “fifteen night”) represents the fifteenth and final day of the Lunar New Year period as celebrated by Chinese communities. The term is from the Hokkien dialect and refers to the fifteenth day of the first month, which is the occasion of the first full moon of the New Year.

Sambutan Maulidur Rasul Peringkat Labuan 2010

Labuan citizen celebrates Maulidur Rasul today as thousands flock the Labuan Square to participate in the parade held annually to commemorate the birth of Propher Muhammad.

The parade led by Labuan MP, Dato’ Yusuf Mahal and followed by the contingents representing government and corporate bodies, schools, higher education institutions and villages in Labuan F.T.

Sambutan Maulidur Rasul Peringkat Labuan Tahun 2010 berlangsung di Dataran Labuan, Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan pada 26 Februari 2010 bersamaan 12 Rabiul Awal 1431H.

Perarakan disertai jabatan – jabatan kerajaan, badan swasta, institusi pendidikan dan peringkat kampung. Perarakan bermula seawal jam 7 pagi mengikut laluan yang telah ditetapkan dan sambutan pada tahun ini berakhir lebih kurang jam 10 pagi.

I would like to take this chance to wish you a Happy New Year 2010.

In 2009, there has been few major setback that affect this blog develepoment. Lack of resources, funding, etc. Personally, it was a great dissapointment, when all you want as a result of this blog existence is to let people out there know about Labuan.

However, in 2010. Things will change drastically. In few months to come (lets not make it more than June 2010), the layout and design will be upgraded, perhaps we're going to get our own domain, and design a platform that allows the readers to participate.

Let's hope this 2010 we will be able to see this improvement. Thank you very much for all your support.

Labuan Remembrance Day 2009

Sebanyak 36 kontinjen perbarisan terdiri daripada badan beruniform, badan kerajaan, sektor swasta dan kontinjen – kontinjen yang mewakili hampir kesemua kampung di Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan.

Dear all,

Firstly, I would like to say thanks, with all my heart to you whom keep coming although this blog still a working in progress. I really hope that this small little project will help me achieve of what I've aimed in setting a trend in Internet usage in our small little Labuan island. Knowledge is king;I believe - and everyone deserved to be full of knowledge. The least is to know what's on in our Labuan island.

Secondly, I'm now contacting several hotels and restaurants and certain business owner to cooperate with me in making this little project successful. Be mindful, this project will first serve as a directory of hotels, dining and business in Labuan. It was merely a small portion of the big picture which I will try to realize before end of 2010. Hopefully all of them will give what I wanted.

Thirdly, this little project wont be successful and popular without you - yes, you. PLEASE help me by telling your friends that I am currently working on this blog. There are few extra points to be added in the final product. I really want to put extra effort on this blog (which then will be a website) so everyone in Labuan could benefit from it.

Finally, what else should I say to you who keep coming loyally despite knowing this blog is still in progress? Heaps of love and a big thanks to you!

Labuan facing hazy atmosphere

3 August 2009 - An-Nur Mosque and Labuan International Airport (right) barely seen through hazy atmosphere. Several hotspots were spotted in some part of Sabah and Indonesia, causing air quality to deteriorate.

4th Labuan 6s Cricket Tournament

Labuan 4th 6-side cricket tournament was held at LDA pitch at 19th July 2009. The one day tournament saw five teams from cricket team all over Borneo playing against each other to win the champion title.

8th Labuan Rugby 10s 2009

The 8th Labuan Rugby 10s 2009 was held at LDA rugby pitch, Labuan F.T. on the 3rd and 4th July 2009. 16 teams from across Malaysia participated in this tournament which witnessed some of the finest in Malaysian rugby scene competing in this tournament.

28 Feb. 09 - Minister of Federal Territories, Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique delivering speech during the Federal Territory Day 2009 closing ceremony which was held at F.T. Labuan. In his speech, he addressed that the current development in Labuan, especially the Halal hub and Petronas mega methanol plant will create more job opportunities in 2010.

Konsert Muzikarama Tradisional LabuanFM 2008

20 Disember, 2008 - Labuan FM telah menganjurkan sebuah konsert Muzikarama Tradisional yang mengetengahkan persembahan nyanyian dan muzik tradisional. Konsert tersebut yang bermula pada jam 8 malam dan mengambil tempat di Plaza Arena, Kompleks Sukan Air Antarabangsa menarik perhatian pengunjung yangmula membanjiri kawasan plaza seawal jam 7.

Antara yang mengambil bahagian dalam konsert tersebut ialah artis - artis tempatan dan juga artis jemputan dari Semenanjung.

Selain daripada persembahan instrumental, warga kerja Labuan FM yang terlibat dengan program Edidih yang sering diudarakan di LabuanFM setiap hari jam 3 petang turut mempersembahkan sketsa pendek. Buat pertama kalinya, Awang Sembilan diperkenalkan kepada pendengar setia Labuan FM.

Konsert tersebut berakhir pada jam 11 malam.

Labuan FM akan menganjurkan program Muzikarama Tradisional pada hari Sabtu, 20hb Disember 2008.

Program tersebut akan diadakan di Plaza Arena, Kompleks Sukan Laut Antarabangsa Labuan bermula jam 8 malam dan dijangka selesai pada jam 11 malam.

Orang ramai dijemput hadir untuk menyaksikan persembahan muzik dan lagu tradisional dari beberapa kumpulan muzik dan penyanyi seperti anak jati Labuan, adik Imanudin yang baru menjuarai Pertandingan Bintang Kecil RTM.

RMAF Parachute Jump Competition 2008

From 26 November to 3 December 2008, Royal Malaysian Air Force held a close Parachute Jump Competition at Labuan Sports Complex. The competition was held among the Royal Air Force base from all over Malaysia.

One of the contestant flying past the stadium spotlight in the RMAF Parachute Jump Competition which took place at Labuan Sport Complex. The competition is being held from 26 November 2008 till 3 December 2008.

Labuan Remembrance Day 2008

9th November, 2008 - Remembrance Day or also known as “Poppy Day” is observed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of November each year in some Commonwealth countries. This event originates from the First World War (1914 - 1918) to commemorate the Allied Servicemen, who gave their lives during the war. Red Poppies are worn during that day, which denotes the Poppies of the Flanders in France. Commemorative ceremonies such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day share many customs and traditions. The central element of Remembrance Day ceremonies is the minute’s silence.

This year, Remembrance Day was held at Labuan War Memorial with attendance of VIPs and some family members of whom fought the Japanese during the World War II. In Borneo, Remembrance Day observed on Sunday 9th November 2008 at the Labuan World War II Memorial grounds. Let us remember those who gave their lives during the war on this day. Among those buried here also Malaysians.

31 August, 2008 - Labuan F.T. joined other states in Malaysia today celebrating the nation 51st National Day. The marching parade took place at Dataran Labuan with all government bodies, schools, private companies and uniform bodies parading their way through the sea of people watching the event live.

Malam Ambang Merdeka Labuan 2008

30th August, 2008 - Labuan citizen were treated with heavy downpour at evening, causing the highlight of this year Merdeka celebration; Malam Ambang Merdeka postponed to 10 p.m. Labuan MP, YB Yusof Mahal officiated the event.

Among the main attraction of the night was the stage performance by Malaysian artist like Jat of BlackDogBone, Labuan-born Ekin, Adam of Akademi Fantasia and Mr Os. Earlier, crowds were entertained with traditional dance performance.

The event ended with fireworks show at 12.00 am.

LOFSA Run 2008

30th August, 2008 - LOFSA (Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority) organized LOFSA Run as part of their annual activity. LOFSA Run attracts athletes in Labuan and Sabah to compete in different categories provided which witness an attractive prices to be offered to the winner.
