Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, is battling an onset of Parkinson’s disease that has complicated her recovery from a surgical procedure in Germany, several reliable sources have disclosed to SaharaReporters.

SaharaReporters broke the news that Mrs. Jonathan was flown to a hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany close to a month ago to undergo emergency treatment after a botched procedure in Dubai.

In interviews with three sources familiar with Mrs. Jonathan’s health status, SaharaReporters learnt that the Nigerian president’s wife is beset by Parkinson’s disease, a degenerative syndrome. The disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system. A medical source described it as “a fairly common disorder that occasions degeneration of the nervous system.” The source added that the disease leads to “progressive impairment and disorder of movement.” An online medical site notes that Parkinson’s “is characterized by progressive loss of muscle control, which leads to trembling of the limbs and head while at rest, stiffness, slowness, and impaired balance. As symptoms worsen, it may become difficult to walk, talk, and complete simple tasks.”

The bombshell revelation about the First Lady’s medical woes was first made by a source familiar with Mrs. Jonathan’s previous secret treatments in Spain and Italy. The source disclosed that Mrs. Jonathan had battled Parkinson’s for some years now. In addition, doctors had advised her to “do something urgent about her morbid body mass index (BMI),” said the source. She added that Mrs. Jonathan had indeed considered undergoing the kind of tummy tuck procedure that former Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha once had.

Two other sources close to the Jonathans confirmed that the First Lady has been dogged by Parkinson’s. One said the disease was largely responsible for her clumsiness, drawling speech and slow movement at public events. He added that Mrs. Jonathan has been suffering serious trembling in the left hand. “That’s why she always uses her right to hold the microphone when speaking at public events,” the source revealed. Mrs. Jonathan also reportedly is affected by stiffness of the limbs and trunk which affects her movement.

A news staffer at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) told SaharaReporters that Mrs. Jonathan’s aides warned reporters covering her never to film her beyond her waist. “Her senior personal assistant told the crew covering her long ago: ‘Don’t ever film Madam’s waist. Show her face only.’ That’s been the code at NTA.”

Two of our sources stated that Mrs. Jonathan had made efforts to slow the disease that had started to ravage her. “She has been visiting a health farm in Italy on a regular basis since 2010,” one source revealed. “To alleviate her pain, she has been taking her medication religiously.”

A friend of Mrs. Jonathan’s said that the First Lady’s health maladies include anxiety, occasional memory loss and disorientation. In addition, her blood pressure often rises to dangerous levels, forcing her to take a cocktail of anti-hypertensive drugs.

Also, our sources said that some officials attached to the First Lady’s office described her as constantly depressed, prone to snapping at people at the slightest provocation. “The First Lady can just get angry at the slightest provocation and rain abuses at anybody in sight,” he said.

As happened during the health crisis of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the Nigerian Presidency’s reaction to Mrs. Jonathan’s health condition is to be mum. When SaharaReporters contacted a senior aide of President Jonathan on the matter of the First Lady’s illness, he sharply said, “I’m not saying anything. And please don’t mention that you spoke to me.” SaharaReporters learnt that officials of the Presidency are under a virtual oath of secrecy on the issue of Mrs. Jonathan’s health crisis.

A 39-year-old teacher, Adams Ariyo, who was dragged before an Agege Customary Court for divorce over lack of care, has accused his wife, Ajoke, of being a witch, as according to him, the woman was responsible for his dwindling fortunes.

Adams however informed the court that since Ajoke moved into their matrimonial home in 2002 before they separated in 2006, his business was not booming. Besides, a soothsayer once told him that Ajoke belonged to a demonic group of women who hinder the progress of their husbands.

”I did not believe what the soothsayer said until l had a dream that revealed her demonic power to me”.

The respondent claimed that the wife moved out of their matrimonial home when he did not allow her to hawk palm wine in the neighbourhood and then resorted to blackmail.

Adams alleged that his son was over pampered by Ajoke who always bought things for him hence he took to stealing.

The husband urged the court to dissolve the marriage and grant him custody of the only child for proper care.
In her submission, the 34-year-old woman informed the court that Adams denied her access to the child for six years until last year when she saw him (child) in Agege.

The food vendor also told the court that she was not happy because her child was so dirty and was living in the area where hemp smokers dominated, adding that she didn’t want the nine-year-old boy to be influenced negatively.

”What really baffled me was that my nine-year-old boy is in primary two despite the fact that his father is a teacher at a nursery and primary school in Ikeja”.

The applicant urged the court to grant her custody of the child because Adams was already married to another woman who bore a child for him.

This follows a service held in her honour last night at the St Mulumba Catholic Church, Jos the Plateau State capital, Northcentral Nigeria by her family members and friends.

The service which held at 6pm was officiated by the parish priest of St Mulumba, Jos , Revd. Father Philip Dung.

Cynthia, the daughter of a retired army officer and postgraduate student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, was killed in a hotel room in Festac, Lagos, Nigeria in July this year allegedly by those she met through Facebook, a social internet site.

Family sources say preparations are on for her burial after her mother had earlier announced that her corpse would be taken to her village.

Described as “very industrious, hard working and a respectful child,” by her mother, Mrs. Joy Osokogu, the late Cynthia was raped by her supposed friends before they strangled her. They also stole her handset and other personal effects, according to the police, who have arrested and arraigned four suspects in connection with the crime.

“She was my daughter, my friend and my sister. Her memory will never be forgotten because she touched so many lives positively in her short stay on earth,” Mrs. Osokogu said while alleging that the suspected killers had demanded N20 million from the family while carrying out the act.

A 23-year old Lebanese identified as Ahmed Mohammed has been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen, at Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

He was said to have been kidnapped in front of Tawouq King restaurant, a Lebanese restaurant located at 35 Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja.

The owner of the restaurant, Mohammed Wahab, an older relative of Ahmed, who confirmed the kidnap to P.M.NEWS, said he was kidnapped at about 10 p.m. on Monday.

“I was not around at the time of the kidnap but my other workers who were around informed me that Ahmed was forced into an ash coloured Toyota car by six unidentified men with guns.

“I was told that four of the gunmen jumped down from the car while two remained in the car and ordered him into their car and sped off.

“As I speak with you, I have not heard a word from the kidnappers, not even a phone call for us to have an idea of what exactly is wrong,” Wahab said.

He described Ahmed as a hardworking young man who had been of great assistance to him in the restaurant.

“I don’t look for trouble and I don’t know who we have offended to have this calamity befall us.

“Even when I travelled to Lebanon, Ahmed who had been in Nigeria for about five years now, ran the restaurant well without troubles,” he said in near tears.

According to him, the irony of the situation is that it is a mistake if he is kidnapped for money because they are in huge debts and are barely managing to stay afloat.

“My overheads alone are drowning this restaurant. I owe millions on my rent and even some private people that loaned me money.

“I don’t even have a car anymore. The car am using was loaned to me by my Nigerian manager. If the kidnap is targeted at my restaurant, they can have it for all I care though I keep wishing am the one that was kidnapped.

“Ahmed is just 23 and a relative. I am responsible for him. I sincerely wish am the one they took,” he added.

He, however, said that the matter has been reported at Man Centre Police station for investigation.

One of the policemen who was at the restaurant to interrogate the workers confirmed the kidnap on grounds of anonymity, adding that the matter has been transferred to Area ‘F’ Police Division for further investigation.

In a bid to curtail crime and indecency in Osun State, the state of the virtuous (ipinle omoluabi); the state government constituted a military task force known as SAS(Swift Action Squad) to enforce the ‘omoluabi’ principles in the state. It happened in Osogbo, the Osun State capital few weeks ago, but I didn’t believe until I heard an eye witness report few days ago.

A lady was caught dressed indecently by SAS. According to the eye witness, her blouse covered just half of her breast. She was asked to dismount the motorcycle she was riding on, and the Okada rider was asked why he allowed such nudity on his motorcycle. They were both punished by the Swift Action Squad (SAS).

No one would say much about a punishment meted out to someone dressed provocatively in a society that doesn’t accommodate such dressing, but questions need to be asked when the okada rider is forced to suck his passenger’s breasts.

According to the eye witness, the lady was ordered to bring out her breast to the full glare of passersby since she was proudly flaunting it. As if that was not enough, she was ordered to breastfeed the okada rider. A 36-year old woman, Mrs. Gloria Ugonnaya, has been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s court in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, charged with assault.

She allegedly bit off the ear of a police Corporal, Odion Oifoghe, attached to Sabo Police Division, Yaba in order to evade arrest.

Information reaching us says that Gloria had a quarrel with her neighbour at their 35, Johnson Street, Onike, Yaba, Lagos residence and when the police invited her for questioning, she refused to honour the invitation.

Oifoghe had to go to her residence in the morning on the day of the incident to arrest her. But in an effort to frustrate the policeman, she engaged him in a scuffle during which she bit off his ear. She was eventually arrested.

Police charged her with assault occasioning harm. The offence, according to the police prosecutor, is contrary to and punishable under section 172 of the criminal code, laws of Lagos state, Nigeria, 2011.

When the charge was read to her, Gloria pleaded not guilty.

The trial Magistrate, Mrs. S.K. Metapa admitted her to bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till 12 September, 2012 for mention. Gloria was remanded in prison custody pending when her bail condition will be perfected.

A spokesperson for the Horst Schmidt Klinik in Wiesbaden, Germany has revealed that the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan was in a bad state of health when she arrived at the hospital last week.

The hospital’s official, who confirmed that initial records showed that Mrs. Patience Jonathan had earlier been treated for food poisoning in Nigeria before being brought to the Horst Schmidt Klinik, however, said she was responding to treatment after she had undergone a major surgery for a ruptured appendix to remove the poisons in her intestine.

During an eight-minute telephone chat yesterday through telephone number +49611433436, a senior consultant of the hospital who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Mrs. Jonathan was brought to the hospital early last week after the management of the hospital had been contacted and briefed on the deteriorating health condition of the first lady.

She said that Mrs. Jonathan was getting better but added that the hospital management would ensure that she was fully fit before she would be allowed to go back to Nigeria.

When we demanded further details, the hospital official said it was improper and unethical for her to make such details available to a third party, ending the call and refusing to pick up subsequent calls.

A reliable source in Aso Rock told us that the decision to take the First Lady to Germany for better treatment was borne out of the fact that her medical aides in Nigeria complained that they could not get accurate diagnosis as a result of insufficient medical facilities in the country.

Twelve days after she left the country, her Media Assistant, Ayo Osinlu, yesterday said there is no definite date yet for her return.

In a telephone conversation yesterday, Osinlu insisted that Mrs Jonathan is on a foreign trip to take a well deserved rest. "I can tell you authoritatively that the First Lady was not lifted by any air ambulance to anywhere, all those things are lies.

"Nobody is going to put a gun on my head and force me to talk when I have no fresh information," he said.

Asked when the First Lady will return, he retorted: "I don't know. I don't have any information on that. You don't expect me to call her and ask her when are you returning, is she my mate? Ours is to ensure everything is in order to receive her once her return is made known to us. I do not have fresh information on that".

Osinlu had on Sunday laboured hard to justify Mrs Jonathan's sudden disappearance from the public.

“If you look at her itinerary in August, you will be wondering how she was able to accomplish that,” he told a national daily.

Joy, from Anambra State, told Evelyn that she must have slept with other men that impregnated her, therefore all her children were bastards.

This resulted in a serious fight between them and in the process Evelyn was injured in her hand.

The incident happened at 54, Kirikiri Road, Olodi Apapa, Lagos.

The police arrested them for engaging in a fight publicly.

Also, Joy was arraigned for telling her friend that her husband was impotent and calling her children bastards.

The prosecutor, Mrs. Christiana Olagbayi, told the court the offences the defendants committed were contrary to sections 54, 166 and 171 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

They pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
They were admitted to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter has been adjourned till 20 October, 2012.

A 36-year-old man, Ekanem Aniefiok, was on Tuesday arraigned before the Karu Magistrates' Court for alleged attempt to commit suicide.

The police Prosecutor, Umar Mohammed, told the court that Aniefiok, of the Federal Housing Authority Estate, Karu, Abuja, committed the offence on September 4 at 10am.

He said the offence was contrary to section 75 of the penal code law.

According to him, the police was alerted by one Idika Uzoma, of the same address, that the accused had attempted suicide.

The prosecutor said Uzoma had discovered Aniefiok hanging in his room while his 20-month old daughter was holding a part of the rope that went through the ceiling.

Mohammed said that the accused was unconscious while the baby was crying, and that Uzoma raised alarm which attracted neighbours who rescued him.

The prosecution said that Aniefiok had confessed to committing the offence because he lost his job and that his wife had abandoned him.

Magistrate Celestine Odo said the court had no jurisdiction to try the accused and advised the prosecutor to refer the case to the appropriate court of competent jurisdiction.

Apparently, this is a case of a love tale gone sour. The details are sketchy as to who released the photos but it certainly is not the woman at the centre of the storm which leaves her alleged lover as suspect. There is no justification for any man no matter the offence to release nudé photos of his ertswhile lover or girlfriend to the general public. She sent it to you in confidence and with the belief that it is meant FYEs only. If you have such photos in your possession, soft or hard copy after break-up, why not permanently delete or shred it instead of playing childish and stupid by releasing it online or elsewhere? What if that were your mother, sister or niece?

My wife abandoned me after I trained her, Man tells court

A 52-year- old trader, Mr Lawal Ayodele, on Tuesday dragged his wife, Olutosin 32, before an Ikorodu Customary Court, Lagos for the dissolution of their 12-year-old marriage.

Ayodele had earlier told the court that his wife had deserted their home for the past four years.

“I sponsored her to the College of Education, having graduated from the school, she started behaving differently in the house.

“She travelled abroad to further her studies without my consent, simply because I objected when she told me she would travel. She has left my house since 2008, and I don’t want to marry her again,“Ayodele said.

He also accused his wife of planning to take his children abroad without his consent. “I actually consented to their travelling before, but now I have changed my mind, I want the custody of my children,“ he said.

The marriage was blessed with three children.

Olutosin, who is also a student, did not deny all the allegations of her husband.

“Truly, he said I should not travel abroad, but my parents want me to continue my education; he was the one that brought my luggage to me, I did not pack them myself.

“My children have been with my parent all this while, and he has not been responsible for their feeding and school expenses.

“I have already prepared their travelling documents, all of a sudden, he changed his mind and told me not to take his children abroad, please save my marriage, I don’t want to remain a single mother, “ she said.

The Court’s President, Alhaja Risikat Adesanya, banned the children from travelling abroad without their father’s consent.

Adesanya advised the couple to wait for counselling and adjourned the case till Sept. 9, for possible reconciliation and judgement. (NAN)

Police arrest pastor with human skull in Ogun

ABEOKUTA- A middle-aged man identified as Pastor Michael Oyewole was paraded along his accomplice, Matthew Akiode for being in possesion of a human skull allegedly exhumed in a grave on a land at Sabo in Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun state on Tuesday.

The pastor,32,who claimed to be a pastor at Ona-Ara mimo Cherubim and Sheraphim at Olomore few kilometres to the crime scene in Abeokuta was accused of inducing Akiode of committing the crime.

Speaking with newsmen, Akiode, who confessed to the crime, however attributed his action to the economic situation in the country.

He said” I used to work on his (pastor) site but he said I will make more money if I can get him human skull, so I felt it was an easy way of making money that was why I did it.

“I am surprised his denying all of this when he was the actual person that thought me how to go about it, “he claimed.

But when the pastor was however asked about his involvement in the crime, Pastor Oyewole denied that he ever sent Akiode to perpetrate the act.

He said “I am man of God and pastor at Irewole Cherubim and Seraphim Church, car wash area.

“I heal people with God’s name and not with human skull, his just telling lies and I don’t know what I have done to him Only God can save me now, “he said.

While parading the suspects at the police command Headquarters at Eleweran in Abeokuta yesterday,the police Commissioner, Ikemefuna Okoye, said that the accused persons committed the offence at about 12 a. m while digging the foundation of a building.

According to Okoye,at about 12 00 am hour, we got information about somebody who was digging a grave and we swung into action.

“He never knew that eagle eyes were watching him in the process of removing the corpse.

“We apprehended him immediately he severed the head from the body and he told us that it was one Pastor Oyewole that sent him, “ he said.

Okoye however said that,the embattled pastor was arrested shortly after his partner in crime mentioned his name for encouraging him to commit the crime.

He said that both accused persons would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter was concluded.

The Commissioner, who assured members of the public to go about their normal business without fear, sought their cooperation towards effective policing of the state.

Spanish Magazine Publish Photoshopped Image of Michelle Obama as Half Naked Slave

A magazine in Spain,Magazine Fuera de Serie , has published a photoshopped image of a partially n*de First Lady Michelle Obama. The image shows FLOTUS sitting in a chair, covered with what appears to be an American flag, with one of her br*asts exposed. It looks as if the first black First Lady has been remade into a slave wearing a head wrap, thanks to technology.

The question which immediately comes to mind is, did anyone ever publish a nude magazine cover of Laura Bush? What about Barbara? Hillary? Of course not, but it seems that, even as First Lady, white people across the globe feel that they can use Michelle Obama’s image for whatever purpose they desire.

If they desire to see her n*ked, then so be it, regardless of whether or not she’s married, or who she’s married to. Married to the leader of the most powerful country in the world? No matter.

Show me your titty. And so it goes. In a white supremacist structure, it doesn’t matter how much a black person achieves, he or she is still just an object to be whimsically used and discarded. In this instance, Michelle Obama’s face was superimposed on the body of an African Guadeloupean female slave painted by French artist Marie-Guilhelmine Benoist in 1800.

To you, FLOTUS is a brilliant attorney and an excellent First Lady, but to the folks at Magazine Fuera de Serie, she’s still just a slave. Best not let her, or us, forget that. To the artist’s credit, she has done other famous nudes, some of them white.

But the idea that Michelle Obama’s face would be superimposed on a slave’s body has special meaning, and anyone with half a brain would know that. I’m sure the artist, Karine Percheron-Daniels, knows that this representation of Obama shows her as submissive and powerless. And that wasn’t by accident. That was the plan.
