Forgiveness

Acts 5:1-11

Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property.
With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet.
Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?
Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”
When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened.
Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.
Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.”
Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”
At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

What about people who say they forgive but don't? A friend once said, "A bitter person can rationalize anything", and I believe he was correct. I have to watch over this in my own life.
Jesus told us to pray to God and ask Him to forgive our trespasses the same way we forgive those who have trespassed against us.

I sometimes remember a young internet pastor who took deep offense at a suggestion I made to help improve this group, insisted the comment targeted him specifically, and although he said he forgave, he cut me off, backed off from ministering to the people in this group, and it saddened me because I knew if God answered his prayer and forgave him the way he forgave me, he would most certainly perish into hell never to arise again.

That probably seems harsh and judgmental to some. But, that is not nearly as important as whether or not it is true. A person who forgives as Jesus forgives loves as Jesus loves. Jesus Himself told us if we won't forgive our brothers and sisters we will not be forgiven ourselves. He said so plainly and He illustrated it with parables and backed it up with the Lord's Prayer. It was apparently something He did not want us to overlook or forget.

Lying and saying, "I forgive" won't cut it. The Bible speaks about worshiping God in spirit and in truth, and we can do neither if we cannot forgive our brothers and sisters with any kind of sincerity that God can call sincere without lying. Does that make sense? Or did I say it in the most confusing way possible?

God does not lie. If you say you forgive but don't, that's lying, and God will have no choice but to tell the truth and say you're a liar. Revelations 21:8 says liars perish into the lake of fire.

Oh, but I said the sinner's prayer. I went to church. I took communion. I got my salvation and can never lose it. I've been baptized. I preached. I saved people. I taught Divinity students in the seminary. I healed the sick and preached to millions.

None of that matters. God will stand by His Word. Are we faithful to Him? Do we trust Him? Do we obey Him or make excuses for disobeying and distrusting Him? Is Jesus our Lord, or are we merely lying and hoping that making religious noises will save us? Have we come to trust and obey God? Have we repented and left our sins behind? Are we real or fake? Do we bristle when we are offended because the offense is unjust, or because our pride, our stupidity, our arrogance will not let us open our eyes to what God is saying because it offends us and calls us to change?

Are we sincere? Are we real? Or are we lying to God?

I ask this of you, but God asks it of me and I must ask it of myself before the time has run out. When this life is over, when the heart stops, when the breathing stops, when we can wake from our sleep on earth no more, the time will be too late and we will face the questions we refused to face in this life whether we want to hear them or not.

Have we trusted Christ at all, or have we merely played religious games? Have we lied to God? Have we patronized Him? Have we thrown Him our refuse, our garbage and have we expected great appreciation for it? Have we offended God? Be sure we all have. But no enemy of God can use the other enemies of God as an excuse for unfaithfulness. The kisses of an enemy will never be better than the hard words of a sincere friend.

Can we lead a loved one to Christ if we won't go to Christ ourselves? Can we love God if we're ashamed of Him? Can we minister without the grace of God, without the love of God, without the anointing of God? We can play the role but can we truly minister? Or will we be a minion of hell dressed up in minister's clothing?

Until we surrender to Christ fully, we can only serve Satan.

Today, we're fasting from the thought that says, "Something bad is bound to happen to me."

Let's change it today:

1. Remember, expectation is the womb of manifestation. Acts 3:5

2. Believe God's promise—Psalm 91:10 MESSAGE TRANSLATION--"Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door. He ordered His angels to guard you wherever you go." YES!

3. Give God something to work with. Ephesians 3:20 says He is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we can ask or think.

4. Ask for good to come your way. In the same way that we 'have not because we ask not', we also can HAVE, because we ask. James 4:2

5. Believe you're loved by God and go to sleep expecting good to happen to you! Psalm127:2 says God gives to His beloved WHILE he is sleeping.

6. Love God. Romans 8:28 Even bad things that happen around you will TURN INTO GOOD for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. That’s YOU!

Think It & Say It:

I look up today expecting to receive good in my life from God. I ask you Lord for good to come and I expect it. Even the bad things that have happened are turning around for good, for me. Something GOOD is going to happen to me, in Jesus' Name.

God is a Healer

God is a healer

One of the things that blesses me about the Bible is its profound simplicity. It comes out with the most profound statements in the simplest and shortest words. What interests me as I glance at that verse that I’ve just presented to you, is that there is not a single word in it of more than one syllable. “O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.” And yet in those simple words of one syllable what tremendous truth is expressed. I wonder if you realize that God is the healer of His people? In the second book of the Bible, Exodus, He says, “I am the LORD that healeth thee”: I am the Lord, your doctor. And in the New Testament in the epistle of James, James writes, “Is there any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, let them anoint him with oil and pray over him. The prayer of faith shall save the sick.” Are you carrying around some sickness, some physical oppression, some burden that the Lord would gladly relieve you of? Have you thought about calling to the Lord? Consider the simplicity of those words: “I called to you for help and you healed me.” May I recommend that to you? May I say that I thank God for doctors and nurses and all who help the sick and infirm. But the ultimate healer is God. Why not take your case to Him? I’ve done it many times and He’s healed me. I believe He’ll do it for you.

According to an article by Rutgers University says people who rate their own health to be poor are five times more likely to die than those who rate their health as excellent. They were all in comparable health.Â Proverbs 23:7 as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

50. (Matthew 9:29) â€¦According to your faith be it unto you.

51. Isaiah 41:10 (KJV) 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Take these scriptures, copy them, and study them daily. Read them many times a day. Feed on them. Put them into your mind until they get down into your heart until they are Rhema to you. They will become bigger than any report the Doctor could give.

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. The joy of the Lord is my strength. Therefore, if I am to renew my strength, I am to renew my joy.

BIBLE MEDITATION:

Proverbs 22:6 - “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

The most dangerous thing on television today, in my estimation, is the sitcom. Do you know what they’re doing? They’re getting you to laugh at sin. In fact, a Christian television and film writer attended a producers’ workshop one day. One of the keynote speakers was one of TV’s most successful producers of sitcoms. In his address, he stated that in order to have a commercially successful production, the characters in a sitcom must violate at least three of the Ten Commandments. How tragic, but what an opportunity for people like you and me to take a stand for the truth and for the glory of God in the film and television industry.

ACTION POINT:

Pray Joshua 1:7 for those who are in the television and movie industries — that they will be strong and courageous.

BIBLE MEDITATION:
Jude 24 - “Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Have you fussed and fumed through life’s challenges, wondering if the Sovereign Creator of the Universe was on vacation? I have a message for you: The God who hung the stars, the God who poured the oceans, the God who raised the mountains, the God who knew you before you were knit together in your mother’s womb, this sovereign God is your Savior. He is your King, and He is in control. When you are plucked from the depths of sin, you are placed in the very hand of God! You can’t climb up into the hand of God; you are placed into the hand of God. Hallelujah! Our efforts didn’t get us there. His grace placed us there. And His love will keep us there forever.

ACTION POINT:
Read Psalm 139 and rejoice in the truth that God has created you and will make a way for you!

Where is Your Focus Today?

BIBLE MEDITATION:
Philippians 3:14 - “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
When a runner is running, he puts his eyes on the goal. He doesn’t look at the grandstand or the other runners. Neither does he examine himself. He has his eyes on the goal. He looks away from everything else. The finish line is all he sees. That’s exactly what we’re to do. The reason that many Christians fail in the race is that they have not learned to look away from other things. They’re trying to look in both directions at the same time, and James 1:8 says, “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” And Matthew 6:22 says, “If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.”

ACTION POINT:
Where is your focus today? Has the world drawn you back into itself, luring you away from the command of our Lord? Read Matthew 28:19-20. That’s your goal.

No One Knows Your Needs Better

BIBLE MEDITATION:

Matthew 6:32 - “...for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

St. Augustine once said that we were created with a “God-shaped” void. I agree. Only God can meet the deepest longings of our hearts. There is nothing that can satisfy apart from your relationship with Him, but it's not because He is a heavy-handed dictator forcing you to accept life the way He dishes it out! Who knows what will satisfy your deepest needs better than the One who made you? As your Creator, He can see what your needs are going to be tomorrow and ten years from tomorrow. Don’t you think He knows what you need today?

ACTION POINT:

What do you need today? Notice I’m not asking, "What do you want?” but "What do you need?" Does your Father know what that is? Then trust that He will provide.

Hi there Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

We would like to inform everyone that we will be having our Christmas Party for the Gawad Kalinga Kids this December 6 (GK Canlanipa Site) and December 13 (GK Looc Site).

Since we were not able to hold birthday parties for September, October and November, the GK SAGIP Facilitators have decided to hold the celebration together with the Christmas Party. A big amount will be needed inorder to materialize this. Budgetting and Planning of the said party will be done this November 22, 2009 after the profiling of the kids.

Targetted amount to be raised: P20,000.00.

SFC Definition

SFC is a generation of single men and women experiencing the fullness of life and restoring the world for Christ.

What is Singles for Christ and how it started?

Countless professional single men and women are burdened by the demands of society to be successful in their respective fields. CFC Singles for Christ (SFC) is part of the family ministries of Couples for Christ (CFC), a Catholic Family Renewal Ministry which started in 1983 in the Philippines. The need to nurture to not just married couples came about not long after the birth of CFC and 10 years later, on June 18, 1993, the CFC elders met at the CFC Leader`s Conference at Xavier School in San Juan, Metro Manila to launch the family ministries. These are CFC Kids for Christ (KFC), CFC Youth for Christ (YFC), CFC Handmaids of the Lord (HOLD), CFC Servants of the Lord (SOLD) and CFC Singles for Christ (SFC).

CFC Singles for Christ intended for the benefit of these same individuals (ages 21 to 40) so they`d have a channel through which they could respond to God`s call and acknowledge that only He can lessen that burden and make them live peaceful and fulfilling lives. In this community, members are guided accordingly by both elders and peers in their decisions and actions (and have fun too!). In time, through perseverance and prayer, a person can achieve financial, emotional and spiritual success. It is also worth noting that quite a number of members have found their lifetime partners (a.k.a. God`s Gift or GG for short) in SFC, while some others invite their "loves" to join, thereby forging a stronger, God-Centered relationship.

What is the Mission Statement of SFC?

The single men and women today live in a difficult age. In a new world rapid change and unprecedented evil, they need to chart the course of their own lives. The face an uncertain future, without much to hold on to since traditional support structures are starting to break up around them. Being on their own now, they experience tremendous pressure to succeed, or perhaps for most, simply to survive.

Life after school is a time for excitement and challenge. But, many single men and women soon realize that real life is very different from what they have learned in school. Many lose their idealism as the are confronted with the reality of evil in the marketplace. And so they start to compromise their values. Earning money gives them a new freedom to make choices and a new sense of power to buy and to own. But the lack of values and a sense of responsibility to go with this new freedom can lead many of them in a path away from God. The chart career paths that do not consider God as a priority and, worse, develop new activities and habits, including vices, that make them turn away from God. This will only lead them to a life of loneliness, frustrations, and despair.

We believe that God has a plan for us to live a meaningful, happy and productive lives at this stage of our human existence. Given the formidable obstacles that we face, we need a renewed relationship with God and the power of the Holy Spirit to live a new life. We need a support environment where God`s plan is revealed to us and where we can draw strength from other single men and women who are committed to love and support us. We need a group where our energy and talents can be developed and put to good use to serve God and His people. We need a place where we can be formed to prepare us for the next stage of our lives, to marry or to live a single life in total dedication to the Lord.

What is the Philosophy Statement of SFC?

The following embodies the beliefs and ideals of the CFC SINGLES FOR CHRIST as a ministry, from which flow the Christian attitudes, values and behavior, as well as its programs, teachings and approaches to Christian renewal.

We BELIEVE that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we safeguard its sanctity by being pure in thoughts, in words and in deeds.

We BELIEVE that God gave us gifts and talents with which we can serve and glorify Him and allow us to live fruitful lives. We believe in the proper stewardship of these gifts by striving to succeed in our chosen work or profession without sacrificing our Christian values and ethics.

We BELIEVE in the indissolubility of Christian marriage and the importance of family life in the plan of God, in the sanctity of human life and the right of the unborn child.

We BELIEVE that we are called to live out our faith fully and share actively in the life and mission in our church - through prayers, evangelization and service to others.

We BELIEVE in living productive lives as citizens of our country, obeying its laws and respecting its institutions. We believe that we have a duty to the future generations in protecting our natural environment and in combating the proliferation of evil in our social environment.

We BELIEVE that individual and corporate renewal can best be achieved by having a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by calling upon the power of the Holy Spirit in our day-to-day life and by making full use of all charismatic gifts at our disposal.

Who can become members of SFC?

Any single person can become a member of Singles for Christ. SFC is mainly a Catholic organization, but is open to membership to all Christians of other denominations. The participants need not have any specific religious and/or spiritual background to become a member. Singles for Christ draws its membership from all sectors of society - young and old, rich and poor, etc. SFC is transcends all cultural, economic, educational, social and other distinctions. SFC is equally adaptable to all local and foreign settings.

Those who want to become members of Singles for Christ go through a seminar which is called a Christian Life Program (CLP). The CLP commences with an Orientation session, then goes through 12 talks. The talks are usually held in the afternoons or evenings and usually last about two and a half hours per session.

Loving as Christ Loved the Church

BIBLE MEDITATION:
Ephesians 5:25 - "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it."

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Do you know what most marriages need? Two funerals and one wedding, where both the husband and the wife die to themselves and come alive to Jesus Christ. You see, when a man loves his wife passionately, there’s nothing too precious for that man to give up for his wife, except his relationship to Almighty God. When there’s that kind of love shown to a woman, I dare say the topic of submission wouldn’t be an issue. Most women don’t mind submitting to a man who loves her enough to die for her and shows it by the way he lives for her.

ACTION POINT:
Are you married? Then, go on a date this week with your spouse. Are you single? Pray that God would prepare you to be the person your mate would need, but also pray that God would make you the person He has uniquely designed you to be for His purposes, married or single.

“DRAW TO GOD” is a website that contains drawing (sketch/art) which I hope would draw (to cause to go in a certain direction) or point people to God.

Drawing with a Purpose
I have been given a gift of creating something through my hands with the use of a pen and paper by the Greatest Artist and Creator – GOD. In order to return the favor and as my way of thanking Him, I’ve made a decision to use it to bring glory and magnify GOD.

It is not easy to draw for God. There is always a struggle between my spirit and my flesh. My soul wants to please God but my flesh only wants to please myself and other people. It’s a battle that many artists fail. Many artists have been making art with “mature content”, frontal nudity, hentai and perversion; forms of pornography just to feed the people’s lust including their own. I don’t want and never will be like them. I can only do it with the help of the Holy Spirit.

I’m not doing this as an obligation with regards to the Great Commission Jesus has given us before He ascended to heaven. As a Christian, it’s hard to separate my faith and what I do/draw. It is hard to keep myself from telling people about the Love of God knowing that it will give them hope and encouragement. I can’t keep something that I know could break their chains.

Through this website, I pray I can give encouragement and hope to people who have been struggling with their relationship with their family, friends and most importantly with GOD.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
You were created to know three worlds — the spiritual, psychological, and material worlds. These can be considered the world above us, the world within us, and the world around us. These worlds are related to the three parts of our human nature — spirit, soul, and body. When you are rightly related to the material world with your body, you are healthy. When you are rightly related to the psychological world with your soul, you are happy. And when you are rightly related to the spiritual world in your spirit, you are holy. God’s aim is that ultimately you are to experience all three realities: health, happiness, and holiness.

ACTION POINT:
Take a snapshot inventory of your life. Where do you need to start making changes to live a healthier lifestyle? What is your emotional barometer telling you about how you see others and yourself? Do you know of any area in your life where you are not living in obedience to the call of holy living?

God Will Always Answer

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
I read about some children in a Sunday School class who wrote a missionary to let him know that they were praying for him. The teacher of the class said, "Now children, the missionary is a very busy person, so don't expect him to write you back." One little girl's letter read, “Dear Brother Brown, We're praying for you. We don't expect an answer.” Sadly, this is how we pray! We don't really expect an answer. But God has promised He will answer us when we call upon His name. Psalm 91:15 says, "He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him."

ACTION POINT:
What are you praying for today? Do you believe that God can answer? Do you believe that He will answer? Thank Him now for answering.

The Lesson of Prayer

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Some time ago I was invited to speak at a college in another state, and my schedule was such that I could not come. When they offered to send a private plane, I agreed. As we flew over Arkansas, the pilot asked me if I wanted to try my hands at flying the plane. I said, "Yes." Of course, he was sitting right next to me. He could fly it without me, but I couldn't fly it without him. He had his hands on the controls with me. He allowed me to participate with him. That's the way prayer is. God can do it without you, but God enables you to have fellowship with Him and teaches you a dependency upon Him.

ACTION POINT:
Kneel before Him. Meditate on 1 Chronicles 16:23-36. Glory in His presence.

He Alone Is Worthy

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
There’s an interesting story about how a gifted violinist named Fritz Kreisler acquired a Stradivarius violin. Kreisler heard about the violin owned by an old Englishman and offered to buy it, but the old man said it wasn’t for sale. One day Kreisler ventured to the old man’s house and said, “If I can’t buy it, may I touch it?” The old Englishman invited him in and even allowed him to begin making music with it. Great tears welled up in the old Englishman’s eyes, and he said, “It is not for sale, but it is yours. You are the Master and alone are worthy of it!” That is what worship is all about. God is the Master, and He alone is worthy.

ACTION POINT:
Starting with the letter “A”, and going through the alphabet, praise Him with each letter for all that He is, has been, and will be!

How To Be A Happy Person

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is not only wonderful, but is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke. To be happy is relatively easy, just decide to be a happy person. People have the power to choose to be happy, no matter how good or bad a situation is.

There are many ways by which you can do this.

* Being grateful is a great attitude. We can learn to be thankful for things that many of us usually take for granted. For example, you can thank the cook for a wonderful meal, thank the taxi driver who drives you home safely or simply thank God for being alive.

* Having a religious connection is also recommended. Being part of a religious group with its singing, sacraments, chanting, prayers and meditations help foster inner peace.

* Laugh and laugh heartily everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they say, 'Laughter is the best medicine'. Being happy can do wonders to your mind and body.

* Learn to express your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you. They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent up anger of frustrations as this is bad for your health. Find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone.

* Whenever you feel disgruntled or unhappy over certain matters, or feels that life is unfair to you, learn to count your blessings. There are many more unfortunate people who are much worse off than you in this world.

* Working hard brings tremendous personal satisfaction. It gives a feeling of being competent in completing our tasks. Accomplishments are necessary, as they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel are worthy of your time.

* Avoid exposure to negative elements like loud noises, toxins and hazardous places.

* Try and learn something new everyday. Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons and could also give us more opportunities in the future.

These are just some of the things you can do everyday to be happy. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Father's Love Letter

My child, you may not know Me but I know everything about you. I know when you sit down and when you rise up. I'm familiar with all your ways. Even the very hairs on your head are numbered, for you were made in my image. In me you live and move and have your being. For you are my offspring. I knew you even before you were conceived. I chose you when I planned creation. You were not a mistake. For all your days are written in my book. I determined the exact time of your birth and where you would live. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. I knit you together in your mother's womb and brought you forth on the day you were born. I have been misrepresented by those who don't know me. I am not distant and angry, but I'm the complete expression of love. And it is my desire to lavish my love on you simply because you are my child and I am your Father.
