A Muslim man who punched a nurse for trying to remove his wife's burqa during childbirth has been jailed n France. The man had already been expelled from the delivery room for calling the midwife a 'rapist' as she carried out an intimate examination of his wife. Then through a window the man spotted the nurse taking off his wife's burqa as she prepared to give birth. He smashed open the locked door and hit the woman in the face, demanding she replace the full Islamic face well. As his wife delivered a baby boy, the man was removed from the hospital and arrested for assault. I have always had this thought in my head that long distance relationships (LDR) would be a real challenge and some of those areas include the matter of talking, touching and seeing that special person as often as you want. But i have derived my own strategies of overcoming some of these challenges. It is an understandably difficult commitment to honour if you and your sweetheart decide to keep the relationship going while you are apart. However, it might be difficult due to pressures from various angles but its worth a trial. I really don't think anyone (especially woman) intends to end up in a LDR, but sometimes it just happens. For example, when you meet Mr. Wonderful at your friend's party in Lagos and you live in Abuja or perhaps the Mr. Greatness you have been dating for six months in Texas get sent to Moscow for a year business contract, you won't necessarily expect him to decline the contract that will favour you both. Below are some of the useful tips I found:

Ask the important questions at the onset, to make sure you are both clear on the parameters of the relationship.These can be difficult and awkward questions to ask, but will save you great heartache and misunderstanding down the line. Example: "Are you open to the possibility of relocating if the relationship should become more serious?" or "What are you looking to get out of the relationship?" Stating your end goal or ideas will allow each person to maintain what they need.
Consider using Skype video chat calls every day, text messaging, phone calls and email every day. It is important to maintain contact and to be in each other's daily lives as much as possible.
Communicate in some way every day, more than once if possible. Since you won't be seeing each other, it's important to establish and maintain an emotional connection. These don't always have to be long, in-depth conversations. Tell each other about your little triumphs and tragedies, ask for advice. Use an instant messenger program or VoIP for real-time chat, or web cams for that visual connection. E-mail is great so make sure you use it, especially if long-distance phone calls put a strain on your budget. Sure, it helps to have your eyes open and not be totally naive, but being overly suspicious is unhealthy for you and your relationship too. You should both maintain your social activity and be happy with yourselves.
Give them a personal object of yours so in a time of need, when they miss you, they are able to hold on to something that once belonged to you. This will provide comfort, happiness, and the thought of being with you.
Remember that you're still in a relationship. You HAVE to be there for your partner. If your partner is ever in trouble, or hurt, or whatever, you have to be there for them.Make sure you are available to them so that they can reach you if they need you. If they end up dealing with everything alone, they will eventually not need you. And sometimes, distance permitting of course, that means being actually, physically there for them.

I came across this article while browsing this morning and i thought it could be useful for some of us.......enjoy.

1. Eat more fiber. By consuming at least 30 grams of fiber daily, you will feel fuller than you would by not eating it. Fiber also helps out one’s health by latching on to LDL cholesterol and flushing it out of your system. Some good sources of fiber include vegetables (with the skin), fruits (with the skin), whole-grain breads, and high fiber cereals. One simple thing to boost fiber intake would be to eat an Orange instead of drinking Orange Juice. It has less calories, more fiber and bound to make you feel more satisfied.

2. Eat your complex grains early in the day and then stick with the water rich carbohydrates such as fruit in the evening. This has to do with the way insulin is secreted into the bloodstream. Make some changes. While eating healthy is a good start, you’re never going to reach your full potential for a leaner body unless you get active and start sleeping better. Aim for 7 – 8 hours per night. More or less than that can have negative effects on your health.

3. Stay away from fast food, or at least don’t eat it as often. It is a far healthier option to cook a nice meal at home. Eat your meals slower. It takes about 20 minutes for your body to know when you’re full. If you eat too quickly, you may have eaten too much before your body knows when the limit is reached.

4. Eat some fish. Fish, such as salmon, is rich in Omega-3s, which is an Essential Fatty Acid. This helps keep your heart healthy, and keeps the bad fat out. Fatty fish such as salmon, halibut and shellfish help reduce the size of fat cells and help out with fat loss.

5. Exercise in the mornings before you eat breakfast, if you want to burn fat more effectively. Perhaps go for a mile jog around your neighbourhood, or walk the dog. Doing aerobic (fast-paced) exercises after you’ve been fasting for eight hours will force your body to burn fat instead of glucose for energy.

It may seem difficult, but continuity is what gets you fit and helps you stay fit!

A woman was caught trying to smuggle 1.5 kilograms of cocaine in her dreadlocks on a flight to Bangkok, it was reported today. South African Nobanda Nolubabalo, 23, was arrested and held in Thailand's capital yesterday after customs officers allegedly noticed a suspicious white substance in her hair. Officials later carried out a search and discovered she had allegedly matted the Class A drug into her dreadlocks before boarding a flight from Brazil.

LEADERSHIP learnt that the pastors from a very popular church along Ibusa Road in the state had visited the area to convert and win over the sex workers to their church, but they were themselves seduced by the prostitutes who had sex with them and later burnt their Bibles and clothes.

Sources said the men of God (their names withheld) had resolved in one of their meetings to win many converts, especially the prostitutes who stay in brothels, in order for them to grow their church's membership.

Cable Point is a notorious stop-over for hoodlums and has the largest number of brothels and casinos in the south-south region.

An eyewitness said that preachers had gained audience with the harlots but after a period of time they were disoriented by the sudden display of breasts and other revealing body parts which reportedly hypnotized the preachers. Their hosts then took them into their rooms where they were said to have performed 'quickies.'
