Google trolls, as android N's release draws closers.

Tech giants, Google Inc., are not new to the "I will blow your mind" ministry. They have been doing this consistently for a while now, with practically all their products.

Early in March, Google revealed to the world that their latest version - the 7th one, of the linux based, android OS would be called android N, a follow-up to the previous android M.

It's surprising, as the Android M in its awesomeness, has not been fully implemented into the smartphone-osphere, with very few mobile devices running official Marshmellow updates, about 7.5%. However with rivals Apple, Inc., chasing right at their tail, one can understand why.

Ever since the name "Android N" was announced, there has been a kind-of mystery, somewhat, as to what the N could stand for. At the just concluded Google I/O we where informed that the guys at google were feeling rather lazy in naming the latest version and that they wanted to crowd source name ideas for the android version.

The senior vice president of Android, Hiroshi Lockheiner has joined the band-wag by dropping hints about possible Android N names via several tweets from posting pictures of restaurant menus to sharing screenshots where the name Nutella glaringly mentioned.

Google up-ed the tease when it dropped an Easter Egg with the latest developer preview of the Android N, calling it Android Namey McNameface.

Facebook hits 1 billion users daily

The growth of social networking giants, Facebook seems like it's not hitting a snag anytime soon as the company recently revealed they average nothing less than a billion users daily. That's a 14% increase on last year's average (they however announced that they had crossed the 1 billion daily users milestone, but that figure is now an average ).

The company also noticed a substantial increase in the ratio of its ad revenue as its mobile ads account for about 78-percent of the ads revenue, with the company's CEO Mark in his earnings remarks stating "we're focused on innovating and investing for the long term to serve our community and connect the entire world."

According to reports emanating from Asia, Chinese Sperm banks in a bid to attract donors have come up with a campaign that promises donors the iPhone 6s.

The online campaign has supposedly gone viral with more and more Sperm banks in the area adopting this technique.

A viral ad campaign by a Chinese Sperm Bank reads on social networking Giants, WeChat reads:

"No need to sell your kidney..., *name of the Sperm bank* can make your iPhone 6s dream come true."

Donors could receive up to US $ 940 depending on the quality the Sperm produced, where the flagship iPhone goes for under US $850.

The campaign is however welcomed as it is no news that a large number of Chinese couples suffer from infertility issues. A situation which the low turnout of Sperm donors among the young populace, either due to shame or ignorance is not helping at all.

Reports from various Sperm bank's spokespersons suggest however that this viral ad campaign is in deed working as turn out of young Sperm donors have been on the rise since the inception of this campaign.

Apple's iOS 9 Unveiled at the WWDC and how to get it

Mobile tech gaints Apple, Inc earlier today unveiled at their highly anticipated WWDC keynote event.

Twitter, Inc roll out new Blackberry app update

Social Networking giants Twitter, Inc. recently announced the arrival of an updated version of their social networking app. for the BB10 platform. The new version comes as a much needed upgrade to the somewhat stale blackberry app.

The update's most notable feature is the Emoji Icon present in the Twit composer page( - as the awesome blackberry keyboard unfortunately lacks a smiley key, hopefully we get one in the about to be released BlackBerry OS 10.3.2) as can be seen in the screen-shot above.

Well so it's been long you saw me here... I greatly apologise for that...
It's not easy juggling the art of blogging with a lot of obstacles such as laziness, a five year Engineering course, misplacing my personal computer a couple of times amongst other factors.

I also had a major issue with this blog's layout that I couldn't seem to crack for almost a year, but thanks to the GDG Team in my school, this is now history.

BBM for Windows Phone

The Canadian company revealed, it will be releasing a BBM for Windows Phone App this Summer and revealed that the app will ship with all the same functionality as its counterparts on other OS-es, including stickers and voice. More importantly though, BBM Groups (which allows you to chat with up to 50 people at once) and Channels will be included as BlackBerry works to fight off challenges from the likes of WhatsApp and Hangouts.

Just Imagine the idea of a military personnel, with ease scaling the walls of the much dreaded Boko-Haram camps in the high hills of Northern Nigeria, with huge bags of ammo attached-with.

Or the thought of having the feature of being able to climb walls like spiderman to take out enemies in your favorite combat games - COD, Max Payne, en all.

Pinterest Steals two ex-Apple Execs

Popular Instagram-like social networking platform Pinterest have succeeded in securing the services of two ex-Apple executives.

It is widely believed that these two executives - Micheal Lopp and Bob Baxley would head the networks' Engineering and Designs departments respectively.

Michael Lopp, who worked on Mac OS X for a long time before moving to software company Palantir, is also a blogger with the alias 'Rands', and he's authored books on engineer management and software development.

Bob Baxley on the otherhand, is also an author of the book Making the Web Work.

Pinterest, as a company is doing quite well for herself with an estimated worth believed to be in the range of $ 5 Billion.

LG G3: Hit or Miss

It seems like just five minutes ago actually it's over six month now when I read an article in which it was revealed that LG's then latest smartphone had just beaten the likes of HTC One, Samsung GS4, and more surprising the Galaxy Note 3 to the award for the "Best smartphone of the year" - '2013'.

To be quite frank I wasn't all that surprised that a ~~come-back from the dead tech~~ franchise had acheived such success in so little time. Specs wise the G2 was the best out there, design-wise it was excellent though some may argue that the G2 was dubbed (duplicated) s4 and thanks to the LG's No. 1 selling point, the cool first of it's kind rear key and Knock-on feature.

LG have continued in the same vain as they recently announced and launched - in some parts of the world, the senior brother/follow-up flagship device, the G3.
The G3 like it's predecessor spots the LG 'trademark' rear keys configuration, as well as the latest tech hardware which ranges from the super fast Snapdragon 801 - 2.5Ghz, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, a 13-megapixel camera and, the super large - 5.5inch QHD screen. The G3 has a sharp, modern look with subtle curves and a brushed-metal finish when compared to the cheap plasticky ~~finger-print magnetic~~ rear found on the G2.

The G3 spots various software upgrades when compared to the G2 with inclusion of new features such as Knock-code, and some other cool gestures - not to forget the first of it's kind Infrared laser focus system, which makes taking that perfect pic, a walk in the pack. The G3 also comes with a new clean looking UI - not that the old one was bad, but I guess they just needed to keep up with competition
~~I guess they are picking up one or two lessons from Blackberry/Nokia's downfall.~~
It also supports what LG calls the selfie camera, the G3 is also one of the early adopters of the smartphone killSwitch concept which enables a user to disable his/her device permanently once its been stolen. Thereby making the phone useless to both the thief and any potential buyer.

MISS:

The G3 spots an unnecessary large screen, a removable battery - a personal dislike, and also room for an external storage card. The G3 also has a newly designed rear key which although looks cool but could be a problem for users with not so huge hands proving somewhat had to access no thanks to the phone's mega size. The Korean company however claims that in their home country large phone screens are the norm, hence prompting their decision to make phones with such large screens. Not withstanding all these though, the G3 is and amazing device, and I can't quite wait to lay my hands on it for a hands-on review. So do you deem the LG G3 to be a tech - Miss or do you see this phone keeping up to it's predecessors' standard by retaining the award for the android phone of the year, for the second year running.

What I know...

Ok... So no stories amma just go straight to the point on this one...

All of you spreading rumors that the strike is about to be called off are on a long thing... The exclusive intel. I am previledged to tell me that whatever news going on now is nothing but a rumor...

I can not confirm to you when the ASUU members are going to meet to determine Nigerian students' faith nor if the strike will be called off tomorrow, but I can tell you this, don't believe the news that the strike might be called off soon because atm even some top ASUU executives still don't no the outcome of the ASUU- FG meeting yet.

According to an undisclosed source:

Do not believe whatever rumor you are hearing now about the possibility of the strike, we as not even all as executives no the outcome of the meeting yet. I just want to urge you Nigerian students not to get tired, as we are doing this for your own good. The situation of Nigeria's education system at the moment is nothing to write home about, it is extremely poor and we are determined to put an end to it, because if we don't act now this thing is never going to change. Just be patient with us as the education system of any country is the key to economic growth.

To be honest with you abut the possibility of the strike being called off soon, I don't know for sure and I wouldn't want to start speeding rumors but I can tell you the vibe within our inner circle is not positive at all, I don't think they have agreed to the full implementation of the MoU yet.

But I promise to let you know in a couple of hours when I can give you 1st class information about the industrial action. You just keep faith with us and keep reading your books *in my mind: if I hear say I read book, after 4months*, lets all make Nigeria great as we can't sit down and allow what has happened to the Public Education system in Secondary and Primary schools happen in the Tertiary institutions.

To the many of us you who thought GTA V was an amazing game well you're all in for a shocker. The game which was developed with a budget of millions of dollars is expected to bring in profits similar to that of the already in circulation GTA V which did over $1 billion dollars in just 3-days.

This is the latest release of the COD series which is set to go on sale for the first time today, and is the most anticipated game - at the moment, since it's trailer was released a couple of months ago.

It’s time Call of Duty learned to embrace its innate silliness. This is a game that makes bold claims of authenticity, before asking you to shoot terrorist astronauts, witness a dog taking down a helicopter, and be rescued by a submarine after infiltrating an enemy base in the Andes. It’s thoroughly stupid at times and gloriously so: here is a campaign whose quality is directly proportional to its daftness, and the same could be argued for its multiplayer component.

But let’s start, as many COD players do, by quickly running through the single-player game. It presents a faintly ludicrous near-future scenario whereby the entirety of South America has formed a Federation, invading the US for no apparent reason beyond the fact that oil reserves have dried up and America perhaps has less weight to throw around. The Federation commandeers a space station named ODIN, a fitting title given the destruction that follows would be fitting of Norse legend: 27 million Americans are killed, and the country is tasked with fighting “a defensive war against a more powerful enemy”. In other words, you’re the underdog for a change.

And yet Ghosts rarely lets you feel like you’re fighting a losing battle. Despite the apocalyptic scenario – which, in the opening hour, looks remarkably close to a first-person The Last of Us with a stronger military presence - this is a game where you’re consistently positioned as the aggressor. As part of a select band of super-soldiers, you’re incredibly well-equipped for the episodic missions you’re sent on, carrying remote sniper rifles, piloting helicopters, driving tanks and, yes, guiding dogs. Your four-legged ally, Riley, offers a neat twist on stealth mechanics, yelping to alert the attention of idling guards, before tearing their throats out with disturbing relish.

Aside from the scene where Riley brings down a chopper by removing its pilot, it’s only in the closing stretch that Ghosts’ campaign really finds its feet. Until then it’s a blend of familiar (albeit sporadically effective) set-pieces and a story told almost exclusively in hoarse shouts and gruff whispers. If only it had a script to match its Eighties’ action-movie excess: even as you’re swimming through reefs avoiding patrolling sharks, it remains a determinedly humourless affair, with nary a wisecrack to provoke even a wry chuckle. It relies instead on bombastic spectacle to thrill, and fortunately there’s enough of that in the final third to compensate. It’s still a mostly linear affair, of course, but completing or failing certain objectives may give you a different route to the same destination. The latter is often the more exciting option: fail to hide from a Federation helicopter and you’ll be forced into a breathless sprint to safety, as missiles send trees collapsing across your path.

ASUU - FG meeting successful..., Will ASUU call off the strike?

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the ASUU and FG's meeting was successful.

Will the strike be called off today...?

ASUU being a body can not just call off the strike instantly, but will first have to go back to their members to give account of their meeting with FG and table the FG's new proposal before them, after which they can now collectively decide whether to call off the strike or not.

So discard any report suggesting that the strike has been called off tonight. We still have to wait for a couple of days before we hear anything official from ASUU.

But Nigerian students go pick u your bags from where you dumped them the day you got home and dust your books as it's looking more likely that the strike will be called off.

I'm sorry guys as I have not been available for a while now. Been busy trying to create awareness for the Nigerian Tertiary Institutions as students have been at home for over 120-days just because the Nigerian Federal Government have failed to reach an agreement with the lecturers.

Now back to Tech, the now ex Apple iOS Vice President - Henri Lamiraux, announced via his LinkIn page status his retirement from the tech gaints, Apple. The top iOS overseer stated that he wanted Apple's mobile flagship OS - iOS 7 to be his last project. He is said to have been at Apple for 23years.

Sources within Apple's iOS division say Lamiraux is respected and he was in charge of developing the applications that come with iOS. The executive also led feature-implementation across the operating system, and he managed both bug-fixing processes and feature distribution to consumers. He also managed the frameworks within the operating system that power features and allow developers to build applications.

ASUU strike may end within days as Pres. Jonathan Intervenes

The Nigerian president GEJ is finally set to get involved personally, to ensure the end of the 4-month old strike...

Fresh report reaching us suggest that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) may call of the strike withing a couple of days.

The report suggests that representatives of the Academic body, ASUU are set to meet with the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan later tomorrow in a last ditch effort to end the 4-months old strike once and for all.

The president is hoping that a personal intervention ~~plea~~ from him will persuade the striking lecturers to call of the strike and return to work. Meanwhile, the chairperson of the academic body - University of Agriculture, Abia State, Micheal Opara reveaed to the press that the body is not willing to compromise that the strike will only be called of if and only if their demands are met.

This comes shortly after reports revealed that the Federal government had put in place plans to forcefully re-open Nigerian Public/Federal Universities with or without the Academic Staffs.

Upon further investigations we found out that the only ~~legally appropriate~~ option is for the case to be tken to court which is a situation both parties are trying to avoid as verdict could go in either direction.

Being a Doctor of Philosophy puts you at the peak of academic achievement because other addition will come through promotion.
But we are not only disappointed but also let down. Even the military regimes that we all condemned supported education more than what we have under Jonathan.

What are the issues that led to this strike and confrontation with the Government?
If we go by the agreement that the Federal Government had with ASUU in 2009 and the MoU signed by the FG on January 24, 2012, you will discover that the critical issue is the funding of federal universities in Nigeria. There is a need for substantial amount of money to be injected into the universities to acheive total revitalization and the two parties agreed on this. It was agreed in 2009 that a sum of N1.5trn would be required to fund the 24 federal universities then. It was also greed that we will look at the number of students in stat universities to determine how much would be needed to intervene.

With the 2012 MoU the FG agreed that it would inject N1.3trn over three years into the universities. The modality for the payment of money was that N100bn would be spent in 2012 which would rise to N400bn annually for the next three years.
When ASUU was making claims about the issue of funding universities, the government did not trust us, so it set up a committee to verify the claims. The National Economic Empowerment Development Assessment Committee report justified our claims and when it was being presented to the Federal Executive Council, Jonathan said all the state governors must see the report. The NEEDS Assessment Technical Committee set up on the report said N800bn is required over two years to fund the schools. By now, the FG should have put in N500bn as intervention fund for federal universities if the MoU of 2012 was respected.
Critical to the issue in contention also is the Earn Allowances this was part of the 2009 agreement but in 2012, the FG said the implementation committee should calculate how much is required to pay the allowance of all staff of federal universities. The committee said N92bn is required to pay the money over two and a half years period. The Government is deceiving Nigerians by saying that it has released the money already. Out of the Money, N55bn will go to academic staff the rest would go to non-academic staff.
