First and foremost, there is no arguing that they are good for load times. We'll discuss why in a bit. Another plus: they make it a lot easier for you, the site owner/designer/editor/tinkerer to keep your images organized. Why keep track of an ever-growing list images on your server if you can simplify things into a single file?
