In fact, it's become so easy, that I would venture to guess that a lot of the smaller site developers may be hurting for work right now, if not in the near future.

This is because technology has evolved to the point where site construction using a blogging platform is essentially "turnkey" and requires little or no technical knowledge whatsoever. What used to be hours and hours of coding is essentially now a few mouse clicks, and your blog is installed.

1.) To Host or Not To Host? - If you are looking to set up your own blog, you have to first buy a domain name. You can buy a domain name from anywhere (I would recommend staying away from Go Daddy). Make sure you do your appropriate keyword research before buying the domain name. Once you purchase it, you have the ability to host it with hosting service you choose.

If you select a domain name and choose to go with a site that offers free hosting, like Wordpress.org or Blogger, be aware you may have restrictions as to what content you can place on your site. While that option is free, it presents problems if you plan to use the site for affiliate sales.

Recommendation: Host your own site; buy your own domain name.

Cost: Less than 15 dollars

2.) Pick your Platform- There was a time when blogs were really just for blogging. Yeah...well, that time is over. The reason why is that blogs are so versatile, different and flexible that they can essentially be used is customizable websites that have everything you need.

Some examples of this are WordPress, Blogger and others like Joomla that are actually not blogging platforms but known as Content Management. The good part, they are almost universally free, or have a free option.

Recommendation: Use Wordpress with your own hosting service

Cost: Hosting, approx 8-10 bucks per month. Hosting on Wordpress or Blogger is free.

3.) People like Pictures- Contrary to what your English teacher in 5th grade may have told you, the pictures count as much or more than the words on your site. The pictures are what pull people in to actually read your content.

So the content matters, but it won't get people to stop from hitting the back button on its own. Why? Because the internet is a highly visual medium and people get intimidated and downright depressed when they see large chunks of text on the page. Consider video, pictures and the use of whitespace to break up any visual monotony on your page

Recommendation: Free Icon and Clipart is everywhere online. Do a Google Search and load up!

Cost: Free
Right now in 2009, this is surely the case as there are more people trying to find jobs than there are jobs available. If you want to get a job anytime this year, you are going to have to work harder to get it than ever before.

If you are willing to spend the time making contacts, distributing resumes and cover letters, and networking you will have the best chance of being hired. Employers right now have a lot of candidates to choose from now and they have the luxury of being able to choose only the best. It is a buyer's market so to speak. If you want to be one of the ones that stands out from the crowd, you will need to show employers that you have the enthusiasm and desire to be hired. You will have to keep going and keep your head high even if you are met repeatedly with rejection.

Although finding an employer that is hiring right now in this bad economy might be hard, the actual steps you need to take to find a job now days has gotten easier. Job hunters used to have to go to company to company to drop off their resume and perhaps fill out a form. They might also have sent resume's in the mail to the companies they were interested in working for. However, the art of getting hired has now switched full time to the Internet. Those persons that don't include an online search will be left out. Even if you want a job that has nothing to do with the Internet and requires no computer skills, you still should be looking online for jobs.

If you want to get your first job, change jobs, or get a better job you need to submit your resume to all the online job search sites you can find. Recruiters now go online to get most of their potential new hires and if you want to compete with the rest of the world, you need to learn how to make a quality resume and post it to the online job sites.

Most jobs require computer skills of some kind so you need to be able to have those technical skills anyway to get that job. This makes it important that you have your resume online and so that it can be distributed and seen by as many recruiters as possible. Finding a job right now is very hard and you need to be online to have a chance at most of them. If you no idea how to get online for that job search, now is the time to find someone that can help you.

What To Do About Poverty

A SOLUTION FOR EMPLOYMENT PROBLEMS AS WORK TENDS TO DISAPPEAR

I know that with globalization the future looks brighter and brighter for many people: But will many people also be left behind in this expanding economy? I know that with technology expanding as it is, many of the jobs that required more human effort are disappearing while other types of jobs that involve more technical expertise are being created. Now do the jobs created by this expanding technology compensate for the loss of jobs in the non-tech sector, considering also the expanding population around the world? Two problems arise. One is that those who lose theirs jobs need more education, assuming they can be retrained, to attain those jobs that are being created by this new technology, and this new technology is expanding at such an accelerated pace that I wonder whether this reeducation can really keep up with this technological expansion. And second, if one can find employment or if there are no ethnic conflicts or natural disasters to interfere with job opportunities, the non-tech sector's remuneration level would probably be lowered because of its new supporting service function to a point whereby many would need a second or third job to make livable ends meet. Therefore, you'll have those growing with globalization while I believe there will be many who will not be able to keep up within this movement. What can be done about this?

To provide more employment for individuals, you could re-engineer the workweek by providing shorter hours for those already working, thus allowing more workers to be employed to keep up with the productivity. Financially you could spread the profitability of the enterprise more evenly between the workers and management so everyone could then have a livable standard of remuneration. Of course in evening out the remuneration levels, one might feel the motivating factor for improving productivity would lessen. But perhaps the motivating factor for this should be something else other than profit, such as job significance. This approach could also lessen excessive stress that can accumulate on the job. Tips on how one can be more frugal with ones expenses, as expressed in my report on How to become Financially Independent, can also be practiced to aid one in developing a more livable standard of life.

If by chance you might not be able to find a job no matter how hard you try you should not become embarrassed by this situation because this is how life oftentimes is and many are probably in the same boat. But the job one should eventually get, if he or she gets one, should be one whereby the employee finds societal significance in his or her employment, otherwise the motivation for working would tend to be quite unfulfilling and lead to much more restlessness and uncreativity in his or her job. An answer to this dilemma could be a procedure, which is set up whereby some financially well-off families could adopt some families that are not so financially well off. And this policy should be considered on a worldwide basis, sometimes crossing national boundaries, but always with an accountability procedure in place. Of course, this process could be either temporary or permanent depending upon the state of the adoptee's employment situation. In doing this though, the cost would have to be the loss of much of the adoptee´s privacy, and much of the time needed by the adoptors to supervise the distribution of financial aid to the adoptees in an accountable fashion. But since work is the vehicle by which individuals do develop a self-worth, however, the adoptees could engage in volunteer work that they find meaningful, and perhaps this could eventually lead them to specific job opportunities, while the adoptors are financially supporting them. If a procedure like this is not adopted, much talent is going to be lost to society, because those individuals struggling financially will be spending all of their time trying to survive, which sometimes can develop into some limited creativity, but not to the extent that creativity could be developed if you didn't have to struggle exclusively just to survive. If this plan can not be adopted, than governments would have to be the adoptors and give a guaranteed livable wage to everyone who hasn't one, because work for pay as we know it will continue to be less and less. And the more political stability you have around the world, the more effective this program can be.

Poverty, however, is not only Material Poverty, but more importantly, Spiritual Poverty as well

Computer Literacy Is A Ticket Out Of Poverty

Both in the United States and abroad, in economically mature countries and poor or “emerging” nations, there’s one constant you can count on: Computer literacy helps to lift people out of poverty. The Internet economy has broken down barriers and borders, for the first time making it realistic for somebody in rural Thailand, in Kolkata India, or even in sub-Saharan Africa to begin the path towards self-sufficiency. Because of the available technology, it’s possible for the first time to realistically work at home in your own cottage industry, and more people are doing that every day. It’s no longer a pipe dream—it’s realistic, and the technology is here to make it happen.
The challenge of course, is to get computers in the hands of the world’s poorest people, to provide Internet access and electricity to rural villages, and to educate them on how to use the technology to their benefit. It’s already happening, on all fronts. Thailand’s well-regarded rural distance learning program pipes in first-class education to the most remote villages in the country, from the “King’s School” in HuaHin—the best school in the country. Satellite Internet access provides coverage to nearly all of Southeast Asia, no matter how remote. In India, even the poorest citizens have been able to get computer literate, and go into business providing services on a telecommuting basis to Western countries.
The innovative “One Laptop Per Child” (OLPC) program even has a solution to help get computers into the hands of young people in poor villages. This program isn’t just about providing computers to people—it’s about alleviating poverty. It’s about giving children a skill that they can use the rest of their lives. The goal of OLPC is to create very inexpensive, minimally configured laptops, which can even be used in a village with no electricity (remarkably, it’s powered by a hand crank). Thailand was actually the first country to sign up with the program, and Nigeria has also made great strides with it. Rwanda has made a commitment to provide laptops to all school children. At Club Asteria our goal for 2011-2012 is to donate 10,000 computers/smart phones to some of the most poverty stricken areas of the world.
There’s no disputing that technology is the key. When Nehru established the Indian Institute of Technology, India was deep in poverty. There’s no doubt that poverty is still rampant there, but India has made great strides—and it’s largely due to the country’s focus on developing a framework for technological education. What has become known as the “Asian miracle” can be replicated around the world.
Micro-finance/micro-credit has a role to play in establishing this technological base. While it’s up to NGOs like OLPC, and local governments, to provide the framework and the educational infrastructure, microfinance can actually give poor people the tools they need to become self-sufficient. At Club Asteria we have introduced our own entrepreneurial education program. Our goal is to provide educational material in 2011-2012 to over 1 million people. We have also set a goal of distributing over 5,000 micro-loans during the same period to once again the most poverty stricken regions of the world.
Take the case of a teenager from a poor family in Delhi. Through hands-on learning and some low-cost direct training, he has become very proficient at web site design, and he’s quickly discovered he has a talent for graphic arts. He’s already created the web site for his school, which has become widely recognized as one of the best school web sites in the country. But until recently, he has always relied on using computers at the school, or even paying to use the local Internet café. A small microfinance loan enabled him to buy a low-cost laptop and Internet service at home—and how he’s building web sites for schools and small businesses all over India. This small, home-based business has turned around his own life and the lives of his parents and siblings, and he’s just received some very good news. He’s been accepted to attend the Indian Institute of Technology, and because of his work, he will be able to afford to put himself through school.
