Same sex marriage will be become legal in New Zealand on the 19th of August 2013 thanks to the 77-44 vote in parliament just this last week.

Maurice Williamson put it best when he said in his infamous speech ”All we are doing with this bill is allowing two people who love each other to have that love recognised by way of marriage. We are not declaring nuclear war on a foreign state.”

Here is a little preview of the fantastic day that was Ceri & Nick’s Wai-iti Beach Retreat wedding, just north of New Plymouth. These guys went all out with stunning attention to detail and preparations for their day with a grey and yellow colour theme. There were so many fun elements on the day that will have to wait for another blog post once all of the photos are ready. The Wai-iti Beach Retreat was an idyllic setting for all their family and friends to come together for such a grand celebration.

Congrats Ceri & Nick on your magical wedding weekend in sunny New Plymouth! As a side note, this was the first time that Jono Tucker Photo & Film captured both the photos and the video on a single wedding day. It’s always good to stretch yourself and this was a real test of my team’s creative capability but one that I think will look stunning once it’s all done. I can’t wait to show you their film!

“You… make me better”

Here is Joy & Darren’s amazing story of their wedding day on film. It was such a fantastic day for a wedding. Wellington really did turn on an stunning summer’s day for a walk through the Botanical Gardens. Wow, these two can really dance too! I think they are the envy of brides and grooms everywhere who want to impress people with a memorable first dance at the end of the night. Joy & Darrens wedding day had some classic and very honest speeches which have helped to tell their lovely story. The lyrics of the song by Marie Hines that they’ve chosen also work perfectly in harmony with the cinematic shots. The day started at The Duxton Hotel where the girls got ready, before their grand ceremony at Old St Pauls. The photographer Mary Sylvia took the bridal party on a lovely little walk through the Botanic Gardens before heading back to The Boatshed for the reception dinner, speeches and partying!

Christie & Seda were married by the Soundshell at the Wellington Botanic Gardens on Friday and had their ceremony at the Boatshed on the Wellington Waterfront surrounded by 100 of their closest friends and family.

They were so much fun to shoot, it’s easy to get great photos of a couple in love and these two were both so happy on the day. They also opted for a first look so they could get the photos out of the way before the ceremony in order to spend more time with their guests in the evening. There are so many stunning photos of their day it was hard to narrow down the selection for their preview.
