width="297" />

In a recent study led by Catherine Gibbons from the University of Leeds, the effects of sweetener reformulated biscuits on appetite and endocrine responses in adults with overweight or obesity were evaluated. This study, conducted between 2021 and 2022 in England and France, sheds light on the potential benefits of substituting sucrose with sweeteners like neotame and stevia rebaudioside M (StRebM).

The findings suggest that while the reformulated biscuits yielded similar appetite responses compared to sucrose-sweetened ones, they demonstrated a significant advantage in terms of post-meal insulin and glucose levels. Participants consuming biscuits with neotame and StRebM experienced lower postprandial insulin levels compared to those consuming sucrose, indicating a potential positive impact on blood glucose control. This is particularly noteworthy in the context of individuals at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

However, it's essential to acknowledge the limitations highlighted in the study. The inclusion of polyol bulking agents in the reformulated products may have contributed to gastrointestinal symptoms reported by some participants. This aspect underscores the need for further research to explore the tolerability and long-term effects of such formulations.

Moreover, the study's disclosures indicate funding from various entities, including the food and beverage industry and trade groups. While this does not necessarily invalidate the findings, it's crucial to consider potential biases and conflicts of interest that may arise from industry involvement.

Overall, the study provides valuable insights into the potential role of sweetener reformulated products in managing blood glucose levels, but further research is warranted to address lingering questions regarding gastrointestinal effects and long-term implications.

Health and Quality of Life News

Association between dietary antioxidants and low back pain in American women

Chinese researchers recently conducted a study to see if a health measure called CDAI has any connection to the occurrence of low back pain.

CDAI is like a score that helps gauge a person’s health status.

After considering various factors that could influence the results, the researchers found that, on the whole, there wasn’t a strong link between CDAI and low back pain.

However, they noticed something interesting.

People with higher CDAI scores (indicating better health) were found to be less likely to experience low back pain compared to those with lower scores.

This association, which was statistically significant, meant it’s not likely that it can be explained by chance.

They also checked this trend across different groups, like men and women.

Interestingly, the link between higher CDAI scores and lower likelihood of low back pain was stronger in women. Women with higher CDAI scores had a significantly lower chance of having low back pain compared to those with lower scores.

The study also explored the role of two minerals, zinc and selenium, in relation to low back pain.

They found that an increase in zinc levels was linked to a higher chance of experiencing low back pain, while an increase in selenium levels was linked to a lower chance of having low back pain.

In summary, the study suggests that there might be a connection between better overall health and a lower likelihood of experiencing low back pain, especially in women. Additionally, changes in zinc and selenium levels in the body seem to play a role in the occurrence of low back pain.

Explore these antioxidants

Those trials were published between 2005 and 2022.

Sleep Improvement

Light therapy led to significant improvements in several sleep measures. It notably enhanced sleep efficiency, increased interdaily stability, and reduced intradaily variability, all of which are indicators of better sleep quality.

Light therapy was associated with a reduction in agitation, depression, and caregiver burden among individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.

A significant advantage over usual care was shown in reducing the severity of psychobehavioral symptoms, as assessed by the Neuropsychiatric Inventory.

Not in Cognitive Function

While light therapy had positive effects on sleep and psychological well-being, it did not show a statistically significant effect on improving cognitive function, as measured by the Mini-Mental State Examination.

The study suggests that light therapy has low side effects, making it a promising treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

However, the authors also highlight the importance of considering adverse behavioral outcomes in patients due to exposure to bright light.

The meta-analysis acknowledges some limitations, including inconsistencies in the types and degrees of dementia in the included studies, which may affect the outcome indicators.

In summary, the findings suggest that light therapy holds promise as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, particularly in improving sleep quality and alleviating psychological symptoms. The study emphasizes the need to weigh the benefits of light therapy against potential adverse effects and acknowledges certain limitations in the available research.

The rats were given LGG for six weeks, and then various measurements were taken after sacrificing the rats to understand the effects.

They found that the bone density, volume, and thickness in the affected area increased after the rats were given LGG.

Interestingly, these improvements were not due to direct effects on the oral bacteria but were linked to changes in the gut microbiota.

When fecal matter containing the altered gut bacteria from LGG-treated rats was transplanted into other rats, similar improvements in bone regeneration were observed.

The study also investigated the changes in blood metabolites (substances produced during metabolism) after LGG administration. One particular metabolite, selenomethionine, was found to promote the formation of bone cells in laboratory experiments. This substance was also associated with the key bacteria in the gut affected by LGG.

In summary, the research suggests that LGG, a probiotic, may enhance the regeneration of bone in the gums during periodontal disease, especially in the presence of high cholesterol.

This improvement appears to be linked to changes in the gut microbiota and increased levels of specific blood metabolites that support bone formation. The findings provide new insights into how probiotics might be used to boost the recovery of bone in the gums through a complex interaction between the gut, blood, and bone.

Source:
Huang Y, Ge R, Qian J, Lu J, Qiao D, Chen R, Jiang H, Cui D, Zhang T, Wang N, He S, Wang M, Yan F. It boasts a range of beneficial properties for potential clinical applications.

This compound has shown antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer activities.

It showed antimicrobial efficacy against food-borne pathogens like Escherichia coli and Salmonella. It is attributed to a unique combination of its chemical characteristics.

Carvacrol, often used alongside thymol (another phenolic monoterpenoid found in these oils), exhibits high antioxidant activity and has been employed as a dietary additive to enhance the antioxidant status in animals (I.E. in poultry nutrition)

Preclinical studies suggest promising anticancer properties of carvacrol, particularly in breast, liver, and lung carcinomas, through (proapoptotic) mechanisms involving elimination of DNA abnormalities.

However, despite a well-defined toxicological profile, the lack of human trials hinders conclusive statements regarding its clinical relevance.

Carvacrol is a major natural constituent known for its various therapeutic effects, including antioxidant, anticancer, anti-obesity, hepatoprotective, and immunomodulatory properties.

In cancer, carvacrol showed anticancer abilities by affecting molecular pathways, inducing apoptosis, and disrupting mitochondrial function.

Furthermore, carvacrol exhibits antimicrobial activity against a range of bacteria, further emphasizing its potential health-promoting perspectives through various pathways.

A recent study explored the synthesis of carvacrol derivatives with a focus on anti-obesity and anti-inflammatory effects. Among the derivatives, one of them formed by linking carvacrol and naproxen, emerged as a promising candidate. This derivative showed inhibitory effects on lipid accumulation in cell cultures and a reduction in TNF-α levels, showing potential anti-obesity and anti-inflammatory effects in vitro.

Best Qualified Carvacrol-Oregano product List

In summary, carvacrol is associated with several potential health benefits:

Antimicrobial Properties:

Effective against food-borne pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Bacillus cereus.

Demonstrates antimicrobial activity against bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomona aeruginosa, Coagulase-negative staphylococcus, Shigella, and Enterococcus.

Antioxidant Activity:

High antioxidant activity, especially when used together with compounds like thymol.

Successfully employed as a dietary phytoadditive to enhance antioxidant status in animals.

Anticancer Potential:

Preclinical studies suggest anticancer properties, particularly in breast, liver, and lung carcinomas.

Acts on proapoptotic processes, inducing apoptosis and disrupting mitochondrial function.

Anti-Obesity Effects:

Carvacrol derivatives show potential anti-obesity effects by inhibiting lipid accumulation in cell cultures.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties:

Carvacrol derivatives exhibit anti-inflammatory effects by reducing levels of pro-inflammatory cytokine TNF-α.

Cardioprotective Role:

Some studies suggest potential cardioprotective effects.

Hepatoprotective Properties:

Shows hepatoprotective effects by decreasing concentrations of liver enzymes like alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase (increased in hepatitis, for instance).

Immunomodulatory Effects:

Carvacrol is reported to have immunomodulatory properties influencing the immune system.

Diabetes Prevention:

Some research suggests it can play a role in diabetes prevention.

Antiaging Properties:

Because of its antioxidant effect can prevent skin aging.

In summary, carvacrol presents itself as a versatile compound with the potential for various health benefits, including antimicrobial action, antioxidant support, and promising anti-obesity and anticancer properties.

While preclinical studies provide valuable insights, the lack of human trials suggests a need for further research to establish its clinical significance. The exploration of carvacrol derivatives opens up possibilities for developing compounds with specific therapeutic applications, offering potential avenues for addressing conditions related to obesity and inflammation.

Best Qualified Carvacrol-Oregano product List

References

Sharifi-Rad M, Varoni EM, Iriti M, Martorell M, Setzer WN, Del Mar Contreras M, Salehi B, Soltani-Nejad A, Rajabi S, Tajbakhsh M, Sharifi-Rad J. Those symptoms are:

Fatigue

Shortness of breath

Chest pain

Joint pain

Cognitive difficulties often referred to as “brain fog.”

The study, conducted by researchers from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia, found that creatine supplements led to reduced fatigue and improved scores for various long COVID-related symptoms, such as loss of taste, breathing difficulties, body aches, headaches, and concentration problems.

Creatine is a natural compound found in small amounts in certain foods and produced by the body, mainly in muscles. It plays a crucial role in the Adenosine Triphosphate -Phosphocreatine (ATP-PC) energy system, which is the primary source of energy for short bursts of intense activities lasting from 1 to 30 seconds, like weightlifting or sprinting.

Supplementing with creatine has been proven to increase the body's phosphocreatine stores, supporting the production of ATP, the primary energy source for cells. This supplementation can enhance strength, power, and endurance during exercise. Additionally, creatine has been studied for its potential to improve muscle recovery and reduce inflammation after exercise.

The ATP-PC system acts as a bridge between our short-term, high-intensity energy system and the intermediate energy system that burns sugars (glycolysis). Recycling energy through the ATP-PC system is vital for sustaining energy during exercise and, by extension, meeting the physical demands of daily activities.

The study also observed increased creatine levels in the brain and reduced lung and body pain among participants.

However, experts caution that the study's small sample size and the fact that the patients had recent COVID infections make it difficult to generalize the results, and further research is needed to confirm the effectiveness of creatine supplements in treating long COVID. There were no major side effects reported from the creatine supplementation.
Slankamenac, J., Ranisavljev, M., Todorovic, N., Ostojic, J., Stajer, V. and Ostojic, S. M. Amid concerns about a growing loneliness epidemic, early studies suggest that MDMA could enhance social connectedness and reduce defensiveness.

In a recent small-scale study involving 18 participants, those who took MDMA reported increased feelings of connection during social interactions.

While the study is limited, researchers believe it has implications for MDMA-assisted therapy, particularly in helping patients feel safe and trusting for deeper emotional exploration.

MDMA is currently being investigated for its therapeutic potential and has cleared clinical trials for treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The drug, along with psychedelics like LSD and psilocybin, has been shown to boost social behaviors in both humans and animals. These substances may induce a sense of dissolution of the self-other boundary, leading to increased empathy and social bonding.

Loneliness has been linked to various health risks, including cancer, heart disease, and a shorter lifespan.

Chronic loneliness alters thinking and behavior, making individuals more fearful of social contact.

MDMA-assisted therapies could potentially address these defensive tendencies, helping individuals overcome loneliness in a therapeutic setting.

Despite the promising findings, caution is advised due to potential psychological effects and risks of misuse.

While MDMA and psychedelics are generally considered safe in controlled settings, researchers emphasize the need for professional supervision and clear guidelines.

The exact mechanisms underlying the positive effects of these substances on empathy and social connection are not fully understood, highlighting the challenges and the need for further research.

Source:

Medscape Medical News. These drugs had many and different side effects and weren’t safer than new drugs.

However, things changed when a new type of medication called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) came into widespread use. These SSRIs were much safer and easier for people to tolerate.

But even though SSRIs were good news, they still have some limitations. They can sometimes make you feel more worried during the first days of the treatment.

It also takes a while for them to work and make you feel better. Some people taking SSRIs also experience problems with their sex drive, sleep, and the overall effectiveness of the treatment is not always very strong.

SSRIs may not work well for people who have symptoms like a lack of interest in things they used to enjoy and difficulties with thinking.

There are other medications called serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), like venlafaxine, which can work better than SSRIs for some people, but they also come with more side effects.

Scientists have tried to improve SSRIs by improving their therapeutic profile in the brain, but these attempts haven’t been very successful so far. There’s a new medication called vortioxetine that might be better for cognitive problems.

In the future, researchers hope to create medications that work more like the older and more effective TCAs but are still safe and well-tolerated.

There may also be benefits derived from combining SSRIs with other groups like 5-HT4 receptor agonists and 5-HT7 receptor antagonists.

So, while SSRIs have been a big step forward in treating depression, there’s still room for improvement in the world of depression medication.

Source: Cowen PJ. One group received a zinc supplement (30 mg per day), while the other received placebo, for 12 weeks. Information about these women, like age, weight, diet, and physical activity was collected.

To measure cognitive function and mood, various tests and questionnaires were used. They also checked certain substances in women's saliva to understand what was happening in their bodies.

The results showed that the women who took the zinc supplement had better scores in cognitive tests, even though they didn't lose weight.

This suggests that taking zinc might help overweight or obese women maintain better cognitive function, regardless of weight loss. However, it's important to mention that the study had a relatively small number of participants, so we need more research with more people to be more confident in these results.

In summary, obesity can harm your brain, but this study hints that zinc supplements might protect cognitive health in overweight women, even without weight loss. Further research is needed, but these findings are promising.

Source: de Vargas LDS, Jantsch J, Fontoura JR, Dorneles GP, Peres A, Guedes RP. M. Sagasta, M.D. in Medium 10-26-2023. A 2004 study by Shih-Yi Huang and colleagues sheds light on an intriguing aspect of major depressive disorder, specifically the link between hypoalbuminemia and depression.

In that research, they compared serum albumin levels in drug-free patients with major depressive disorder to a control group with similar diets.

The study found that patients with major depressive disorder had significantly lower serum albumin levels, and the severity of depression was inversely related to albumin levels.

Importantly, these findings suggested that hypoalbuminemia in depression is not simply a result of malnutrition. However, the authors stressed the need for more extensive research to confirm these findings.

A recent article titled “Association between albumin and depression: a population-based study” by Sabah Al-Marwani and colleagues explores an intriguing connection. The study also examined how the risk of RA changes with different levels of mineral intake, which provides a more nuanced understanding.

However, there are some limitations to keep in mind.

First, this research is a “cross-sectional” study, which means it can’t prove that a higher intake of these minerals directly prevents RA. It’s possible that people with RA change their diets becuase of their condition.

Second, the data on what people ate was collected through self-reports, which can be unreliable.

People may not always remember or accurately report their dietary habits.

The study only assessed the relationship between these minerals and RA, not considering other dietary and lifestyle factors that could also play a role in RA development.

So, while it’s intriguing that eating more magnesium, copper, and potassium might be associated with a lower risk of RA, you can’t say for sure that changing your diet will prevent or treat the condition.

Further research, especially larger and longer-term studies, is needed to confirm these findings.

In conclusion, what you eat can impact on your risk of developing RA, but there’s not a final word on the matter.

So, it’s always a good idea to maintain a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, but if you’re concerned about RA, it’s best to consult with a healthcare professional for guidance and advice.

See “Association between magnesium, copper, and potassium intakes with risk of rheumatoid arthritis”
Fang, J., Cao, T., Liu, C. et al. However, other instruments were predictive of physical manipulative or herbal/nutritional RAAH.

This research highlights the importance of evidence-based policies and practices in addressing the significant public health concern of RAAH uptake in Canada and the need for educating the public about the risks associated with certain alternative healthcare therapies.

Source: Garrett B, Caulfield T, Musoke R, Murdoch B, Tang X, Lam JST. There were no major side effects reported from the creatine supplementation.
Slankamenac, J., Ranisavljev, M., Todorovic, N., Ostojic, J., Stajer, V. and Ostojic, S. M. and green tea, and it corresponded with higher levels of polyphenols in urine.

Overall, participants following either the MED-style or Green-MED diets showed a nearly 9-month reduction in their biological age compared to what would be expected based on their chronological age.

This suggests that diets rich in polyphenols, such as those found in green tea and Mankai, may have a positive impact on biological aging.

This study is one of the first clinical trials to suggest a potential link between polyphenol intake, urine polyphenol levels, and the rate at which the body ages.

Source: Yaskolka Meir, A., Keller, M., Hoffmann, A. et al. It has been traditionally used in Asia for medicinal purposes, particularly for treating dyspepsia. Curcumin has various beneficial properties, including anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, and neuroprotective effects.

Recent studies have explored the potential of curcumin in different health contexts:

Dyspepsia: Curcumin was found to be as effective as the medication omeprazole in relieving indigestion symptoms in a study involving 206 patients with functional dyspepsia. This suggests it could be a natural alternative for managing indigestion.

Peptic Ulcers: Another study showed that curcumin was as effective as omeprazole in treating peptic ulcers. All three groups in the study experienced significant symptom improvements.

COVID-19: A clinical trial investigated nanocurcumin, a nanoparticle version of curcumin, as an add-on treatment for COVID-19. Patients receiving nanocurcumin experienced improvements in symptoms and blood oxygen levels, potentially aiding in recovery.

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Dysmenorrhea: Curcumin supplementation in young women with PMS and dysmenorrhea led to reduced inflammation and improved dyspepsia symptoms, suggesting its potential as a natural remedy for these conditions.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): A study on BPH patients found that nano-micellar curcumin significantly improved symptoms and had positive effects on inflammation and oxidative stress markers, offering potential relief for those with BPH.

Overall, these studies indicate the diverse health benefits of curcumin, including its potential in digestive health, pain relief, COVID-19 treatment, and more. While further research is needed, curcumin appears to be a promising natural and safe option for various health concerns.
See article

Health and Quality of Life News

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://wellnessuptodate.blogspot.com/2023/09/omeprazole-or-turmeric-equally.html' title='Omeprazole or Turmeric? It gets worse over time and causes problems with memory and thinking.

We still don't fully understand why Alzheimer's disease happens, but it seems to be caused by a lot of different things going wrong.

There are some important signs that we often see in the brains of people with Alzheimer's. These include the loss of certain brain cells, the buildup of abnormal substances like plaques, problems with metals in the brain, changes in a protein called tau, too much stress inside brain cells, swelling and problems with the immune system in the brain, and issues with the energy centers in brain cells.

Current treatments, right now, is based in some medicines that can help with the symptoms of Alzheimer's, but they don't fix the main problems in the brain.

These medicines are called donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine, and memantine.

There's a need for better drugs for Alzheimer's that can both improve the brain's health and help with the symptoms.

Scientists are looking into a specific type of drug called carbamate to treat Alzheimer's. Rivastigmine is one of these drugs.

It works by stopping a chemical called acetylcholinesterase, which is important for brain function.

Recent Research: In the last 10 years, researchers have been trying to make better carbamate drugs for Alzheimer's.

They're doing this by changing parts of the drug's structure so that it can do more things like stopping acetylcholinesterase, reducing stress in the brain, and preventing the buildup of abnormal substances.

In summary, Alzheimer's disease is a complicated brain condition that affects memory and thinking.

Current medicines help with symptoms but don't treat the main causes.

Scientists are working on new drugs called carbamates, like rivastigmine, to try and create better treatments for Alzheimer's by targeting various aspects of the disease.

Reference

Carbamate as a potential anti-Alzheimer's pharmacophore: A review

Aging Memory and Oregano

Aging is a natural process where our bodies undergo various changes over time. Some of these changes can affect the normal functioning of our tissues.

Carvacrol is a compound that has gained attention in scientific research due to its wide range of potential health benefits. It is a natural compound found in various plants, particularly in oregano and thyme, and also responsible for the distinctive aroma and flavor of these herbs.

Carvacrol has garnered attention for its potential health benefits and is known for its antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.

In this a recent study aimed to investigate whether carvacrol could have a protective effect on aging in rats.

Experimental Setup: Old rats were chosen for the study, and they were given carvacrol in different doses (either 15 mg/kg or 30 mg/kg) every day for four weeks.

Memory Testing: To assess the effects of carvacrol, researchers conducted two tests on the rats to evaluate their memory and learning abilities. One test involved a maze (Morris water maze), and the other tested their ability to remember things (passive avoidance test).

Brain samples from the hippocampus and cortex of these rats were also collected for further analysis.

When compared to a group of young rats, the old rats that didn't receive carvacrol showed signs of memory and learning difficulties. However, the rats that received carvacrol performed better in the memory and learning tests.

The brains of the older rats had higher levels of a harmful substance called malondialdehyde (MDA) and lower levels of a beneficial compound known as total thiol groups when compared to the younger rats. But, when the older rats were given carvacrol, these imbalances improved.

It appears that carvacrol enhances memory in aging rats by reducing the levels of MDA (which is associated with cell damage) and increasing the levels of total thiol groups (which are protective molecules) in their brains.

In summary, this study found that carvacrol, a compound with potential health benefits, can improve memory and brain health in older rats. This suggests that carvacrol may have therapeutic potential for addressing age-related cognitive decline and brain issues, which could have broader implications for human health.

Reference

Carvacrol improved learning and memory and attenuated the brain tissue oxidative damage in aged male rats

Lactobacillus and Diabetes

A recent study study looked at how a type of bacteria called Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, which is known to be beneficial for the gut, could help prevent insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes in rats that were fed a diet that can make them obese and unhealthy.

They had two types of diets for the rats - a regular one and an unhealthy one that could lead to obesity and diabetes. Some rats got these diets alone, and some got them with either live Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (the probiotic) or heat-inactivated Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (parabiotic).

They found that both the probiotic and parabiotic treatments helped prevent the rats from gaining too much weight, which is common with the unhealthy diet. They also noticed that both treatments improved the rats' blood sugar levels and insulin levels, which are important for preventing diabetes.

Additionally, the treatments with either the probiotic or parabiotic helped balance certain hormones like adiponectin and leptin, which play a role in controlling body weight.

Interestingly, the parabiotic treatment was especially effective in reducing fat in the muscles and improving the way muscles use energy. This could be important for overall metabolic health.

In summary, the study suggests that the heat-inactivated form of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (parabiotic) may be more effective than the live probiotic in preventing insulin resistance and diabetes in rats fed an unhealthy diet.

This finding could have implications for potential treatments to address obesity-related health problems in humans.

Reference

Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG administration partially prevents diet-induced insulin resistance in rats: a comparison with its heat-inactivated parabiotic

Health and Quality of Life News

A recent trial revealed promising results using traditional Qiliqiangxin, in the treatment of heart failure

A recent placebo-controlled trial presented at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) 2023 Congress has revealed promising results regarding the use of a traditional Chinese herbal remedy, Qiliqiangxin, in the treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). HFrEF is a condition where the heart's left ventricle loses its ability to contract effectively, leading to insufficient blood circulation.

The study, known as QUEST, involved over 3,000 HFrEF patients who were randomly assigned to take Qiliqiangxin or a placebo in addition to their standard triple-therapy regimen for heart failure. Qiliqiangxin, composed of 11 plant-based ingredients known for their diuretic and cardiotonic effects, demonstrated a significant reduction in the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization due to heart failure by more than 20%. This reduction was consistent across various patient groups.

While these findings are promising, some questions remain, including the limited enrollment of patients taking other standard heart failure medications like SGLT-2 inhibitors. Nevertheless, the study suggests that Qiliqiangxin may offer a valuable addition to heart failure treatment options, particularly for patients who cannot tolerate certain components of standard therapy.

The capsules were well-tolerated with no major differences in adverse events between the Qiliqiangxin group and the placebo group. However, the regimen of four Qiliqiangxin capsules three times a day may pose challenges for some patients. Researchers also noted the need to further investigate the specific active ingredients in Qiliqiangxin and the standardization of herbal products.

In conclusion, this study offers hope for individuals with HFrEF and highlights the potential of traditional Chinese medicine in modern healthcare, though further research is needed to fully understand its benefits and mechanisms of action. Go to Medium Article

Health and Quality of Life News

Study Reveals Brain Cells' Certain microbial groups were linked to biological age and physical function.

For instance, certain microbes were associated with older biological age and reduced physical capacity, while others were linked to younger biological age and improved physical capacity.

This suggests that the makeup of gut microbiota might influence how well we age and function, potentially opening doors for personalized probiotics to support healthy aging.

Tzemah-Shahar R, Turjeman S, Sharon E, Gamliel G, Hochner H, Koren O, Agmon M.
