. My faith helps me to know that we are all children of God and as we more fully come to recognize that, the light within each of us will radiate. We will be more fully capable of challenging the negative thoughts and perceptions and believing in the positive and valuable qualities that allow us to love and believe in the person that we are.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
our deepest fear
is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness,
that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?
Actually who are we not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people
won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine as children do.
We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And when we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

What to say? What to do?

2012-12-18T09:36:00.000-08:00

It has been a very hard week for a lot of people in the U.S.A. and I'm sure for people who have read and seen about the shootings in Newton, Connecticut. If you have children and grand children, or have lost a loved one, you could not help feel the sorrow of such a senseless tragedy. Trying to think of what to write about it I came upon an article that for me explained pretty much of how I feel.
Here are a few quotes I found to be beneficial.
Children are not supposed to die....Parents expect to see their children grow and mature. Ultimately, parents expect to die and leave their children behind...This is the natural course of life events, the life cycle continuing as it should. The loss of a child is the loss of innocence, the death of the most vulnerable and dependent. The death of a child signifies the loss of the future, of hopes and dreams, of new strength, and of perfection.
When a parent dies, you lose your past; when a child dies, you lose your future.
A wife who loses a husband is called a widow. A husband who loses a wife is called a widower. A child who loses his parents is called an orphan. But...there is no word for a parent who loses a child, that's how awful the loss is.
In writing about bereavement, Rollo May, the religious psychologist said that the only way out is ahead and the choice is whether to cringe from it or to affirm it. To be able to continue this lifetime journey and to make it manageable and productive, bereaved parents must move ahead and affirm this loss while also affirming their own lives.
Eventually, time will cease to stand still for these parents. Painful and terrible moments will still occur-striking, poignant, but in some ways comforting, reminders of the child who died. There will also be regrets for experiences that were never shared. But at some unknown and even unexpected point, these parents will come to realize that there can be good moments, even happy and beautiful moments, and it will not seem impossible or wrong to smile or laugh, but it will seem right and beautiful and a fitting way to honor and remember the child who dies. One day, bereaved parents may come to be "surprised by joy".
But in time...nature takes care of it; the waves of pain lose intensity a little and come less frequently. Then friends and relatives say the parents are getting over it, and that time heals all wounds. The parents themselves say that as the pain lessens, they begin to have energy for people and things outside themselves...They can come to be happy, but never as happy. Their perspective on this and everything has changed. Their child's death is the reason for this and is a measure of the depth and breadth of the bond bedtween parent and child.
All of us will be eventually be pushed up against the edge of our ability. And then we'll all be pushed beyond. That's part of mortality and the test that is life. The question then is this: What will I do when I'm pushed beyond pain? Will I turn to God? Will I draw closer to my family? Will I lift the human race? Will I reach out and serve those who need my help?
Or will I give up on life?

Wow, I just can't keep up. Since I last posted, we have had our 43rd Wedding Anniversary, Thanksgiving Day. Had Thanksgiving. Mike and Aimee went for a short Vacation to Carbo San Lucas, while Grandpa and Grandma took care of Holden and Kenadee, they were so good, I felt a little bad because Holden was a little under the weather with a cough and a slight fever, but he still was his joyful little self, Kenadee all my mommy skills came back, amazing after so many years you just don't forget how to take care of a baby. She was so good, slept through out the night, so precious to see her little smiling face when she wakes up, she slept so sound I woke up and jumped out of bed to see if she was still breathing, brought back memories. Kilee and Adam came down from Cedar City to watch Tracey and Joe's kids, they went to Joe's Annual work Christmas Party in Salt Lake City. So now we are on the count down for Christmas Day. Exciting.

Anyone who knows me knows I am not a person of words, now don't get me wrong I love to talk but when it comes to writing every thing down I have to much and don't know where to start, I think pictures do a pretty good job of telling a story. I have tried on so many occasions to write my life story I get to about three pages put it down and don't go back for about a year, so this is why my blog has more pictures than words. Well maybe that could be a goal for me this next year to really sit down and finish it.
Thanksgiving was very enjoyable, when I have my grand kids around I'm HAPPY, they bring me more joy than anyone or anything, all so different and growing so fast, they range in age from 15 to 6 months, five of them for now, but who knows what the future holds. Terry our daughter who lives in Tahoe drove down for Thanksgiving we have not seen her for three years, so it was great seeing her, Kilee enjoyed Thanksgiving with Adams family this year and we will see them at Christmas.
I am very aware at this time of all the sorrow and bad things that are happening around us, but if you really look hard enough, this is an exciting time to be hear on this earth with all the new technology and medical science that has come along way within the last 40 years.
It seems to me that people have become more intolerable with one another, everyone has to be right and wont listen to other peoples point of view, or even try to understand why that person thinks or does the things they do, don't ask me why, but I feel very attracted to people that are different and see things in a different light, it makes life so much more interesting and you would be surprised how much you learn from them. I am so thankful for the people I know in my life, everyone of them have taught me something and I am still learning. If you notice every time we have a disaster, earthquake, hurricane, tsunami, fire, people don't care or think what that person believes or eats or where they work or what colour they are or their sexual orientation, we all just get in and help one another, it just does not seem to care in time of need. Why can't it be that way all the time? Just saying, we maybe in for some more disasters if you get what I am trying to say.

Happy Thanksgiving:

“While there is much that is wrong in the world today, there are many things that are right and good. ... Our lives are blessed in countless ways. …

“… [The] things which provide deep and lasting happiness and gratitude are the things which money cannot buy: our families, the gospel, good friends, our health, our abilities, the love we receive from those around us. Unfortunately, these are some of the things we allow ourselves to take for granted. …

“When we encounter challenges and problems in our lives, it is often difficult for us to focus on our blessings. However, if we reach deep enough and look hard enough, we will be able to feel and recognize just how much we have been given.” President Monson.

Thanksgiving is just a couple of weeks away, we will all be together except for two of our daughters. It is Kilee and Adams turn for Thanksgiving at Adams family's house so we will enjoy Kilee and Adam for Christmas this year. We use to cook the dinner at our house but Tracey decided she wanted to wake up to the smell of Turkey cooking, so Grandpa goes over to their house the night before and preps the turkey, then all Tracey has to do in the morning is to put it in the oven.

I know not by what methods rare,
But this I know: God answers prayer.
I know not if the blessing sought
Will come in just the guise I thought.
I leave my prayer to Him alone
Whose will is wiser than my own.

YOU LEAK ENERGY EVERY TIME YOU:
1. Focus on regrets, resentment, or anything which exerts energy fretting about the past.
2. Focus on fears, worries or anything which exerts energy being anxious about the future.
3. Spend time with people who don’t support or believe in you – or worst yet make you doubt your full power.
4. Complain, gossip, scream, hurt someone, devalue someone, lie to someone, cruelly judge someone, feel shame, feel guilt.
5. Eat or drink foods and beverages which don’t digest well with your particular physicality (i.e. dairy, carbs, wheat, gluten, sugar, alcohol – whatever your specific food or beverage kryptonite might be.)
6. Sit around, inactively, not doing anything which makes your heart and soul race with joy.
Truly – all of these things wind up lowering your energy. If you feel sick and tired of how things are in your life, chances are it’s because you’re making yourself sick and tired – by engaging in too many energy leaking things

Happy Birthday to our daughter Tracey.

Well Halloween was successful this year, we had way more tricker treaters than we have had the last few years. They came in droves first 10, then 20, then little one's with parents, all were dressed up and looked scary. Our grandson came knocking on our door and tried to scare us, good job Quade. He really did look scary. Holden and Kenadee went to Mickey's Halloween at Disneyland, I'm sure Holden had a great time, he loves Disneyland.

Happy Halloween.
