Making Money with Autoblogs?

Many people seem to think that Making Money Online is a walk in the park. I get too many questions and comments from people that give the impression that some how, I have managed to find an EASY way to make money online. One of these easy ways to make money, that I have seen any of these “gurus” market online is through AUTOBLOGGING.
So What is an AutoBlog?

No, an Autoblog is not a blog about the Automotive industry(If you google autoblog, many things on the Automortive Industry will come up). An autoblog is a blog where the content is generated automatically. This content is generated through “scraping” of other websites. What this means is, you are basically using software to pull content from various websites that you have chosen to pull content from in your niche. I have seen many autoblogs pulling content from my Business Credit Blog, and I have no problem with it.

Is Creating an Autoblog Worth It and can money be made with an AutoBlog?

Over the years, autoblogs has become more and more popular. People use autoblogs for a number of reasons. Some use them to create backlinks to various blogs, which usually helps with SEO and others use to to generate income.

When autoblogs are created, they are usually developed and left to do work on its own, with little or no future work put into them by the creator. They used to be a method of adding value to your online portfolio(whether through link building or generating income) without having to do continuous work. Having a websites means nothing if there is NO TRAFFIC, and autoblogs generally get traffic through search engines. The search engines will scan these blogs and notice that there is much content in a specific niche, and when a consumer searches for taht niche, it may show up in the search results and the consumer will then be directed to that website.

Google Panda(an updated in google’s algorithm in 2011) has really changed the game for Autoblogs. With google accounting for approximately 65% of all searches done on the internet(as of April 2011), if all your traffic is coming from Search Engines Results(or Organic Traffic), your level of success will depend highly on google. This updated in the big G’s algorithms is now penalizing websites for copied content as well as having many links from websites that are deemed as low quality. What this means for Autoblogs is that it is becoming increasingly difficult(if not impossible) for an autoblog to be ranked highly in google.

In my opinion, the days of making money with Autoblogging is gone.

SEO 101 – An introduction to Search Engine Optimization

We’ve all heard about SEO or Search Engine Optimization and how great it is for your websites. But what exactly is SEO and how can we implement it? I will try to answer these questions from the perspective that you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about SEO.

In everyday language SEO is basically the process of making your website “scannable” to search engines to the likes of Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

First off SEO is broken into two main areas:
1) On-site SEO
2) Off-site SEO

On-site SEO is all the SEO that happens within your site and off-site SEO is all the SEO that happens outside your site.

I will talk about on-site SEO first:

On-site SEO mainly deals with the index.html file – the file where most of your HTML takes place. Basically search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing use spiders to “crawl” your site and get all of its necessary info.

Below are the important information(tags) that you must fill out for optimal on-site SEO.

Main keyword here

(This is where the description shows up on the search engines)

Header tags: (Make sure to include your keywords here )

My keyword here

My other keyword here

Mention your keyword two or three times inside your content.

That’s all there is to on-site SEO. Now let’s talk about off-site SEO. The off-site SEO is pretty much going to determine the success of your website and how much traffic flows to your site. If I were to mathematically describe the importance of offsite to onsite SEO as a ratio it would be somewhere near 92:8 where offsite SEO accounts for 92% of the traffic and onsite accounting for the other 8%.

Having the importance of off-site SEO in mind, lets first list build a list of what’s involved in off-site SEO:

•Links via Social Book marking
•Links from Social Media
•Profile links from forums, social media, blogs, etc
•Links from other sites

I hope you recognized a similar pattern above. If you noticed, most off-site SEO are links linking to your site. This is called “backlinking” in the SEO world. Backlinking will single handily take you to the top of Google if you have all the backlinks in the world or it will make you a ghost online if you have zero.

So how does backlinking work? Backlnking works similarly like votes. Let’s say you are aiming for a #1 spot on Google for your keyword. To get there, you have to get as many votes as possible. To take this voting metaphor further, links are to votes as websites are to people. I hope this metaphor is easy to understand. The more backlinks from websites you get, the higher you will be in Google. In addition, different websites carry different votes, just like the House of Representatives in the government. Some websites have more authority and may have up to a 10x vote count.

For example, If I am writing a blog about computers and I get a backlink from another unkown blogger, this would count as 1 or 2 votes but if I get a backlink from a big tech blog like techcrunch.com that can count as 10 votes because techcrunch.com is both popular and reputable.

5 Types of Blog Posts that Increase Readers and add Clients

Making a fulltime income blogging is not an easy task, but I believe that many passionate people out there can make it a reality. Blogging has added a new source of information for consumers, and understanding consumers and what they enjoy reading, and sharing will help you in building a successful blog. In my journey to becoming a successful blogger, I had to try, test and retry different methods of increasing traffic. Here are five types of blog posts that will help every blogger to increase traffic and add to your dedicated reader list:

1. Review various Products and Services of companies in your industry.

When I first started to blog about Business Credit I worked hard to drive quality traffic to my blog on a daily basis. One of my goals with my blog at the time was to reveal all the scams in the industry as well as talk about various quality products. I wanted to do this because the business credit industry was filled with scams and I myself was ripped off of thousands of dollars. Other than revealing scams, I was able to learn a lot by buying and reviewing products. As I bought hundreds of dollars in products on a monthly basis and wrote about them, I NEVER ONCE thought that this will help to generate traffic. I was truly a newbie blogger at the time. My plan was to buy the products to learn from them, and help my readers learn as well. As I monitored my traffic, and noticed that users were looking for reviews of various products online and came across my blog. Since I was not writing as an affiliate marketer, but an honest person who bought the product, I noticed that I was getting more and more traffic, and many of these users were repeat readers of my blog. This was a huge lessons and contributed to my continuous blogging success. We will be buying on reviewing products on this blog as well.

Some advantages of writing product reviews are:

Creates credibility of the blogger as an authority in the industry.
Helps with SEO. In many cases, when consumers consider buying a product, it is common to search for product reviews. If these consumers stumble upon your blog, it is likely that these are consumers that are interested your industry or niche.
Increase Revenue through being an affiliate. I do not usually advocate to write reviews as an affiliate marketer. Reviews should be real and honest. In a situation where the product is truly a quality product and your readers can benifit from purchasing the product, adding an affiliate link to the product is definitely a good way of making some money from your review, but ensure that you are not writing reviews for the purpose of getting users to purchase the product. Many consumers will see through this and you can easily lose credibility.
Increase Revenue through developing a competing product. If you have a competing product, and you can write an honest review that will show the advantages of using your product as opposed to using another, this is a perfect situation to write a review. I have an ebook called the Business Credit Bible, and it is currently free. Now this allows me to write reviews about many other competing products in the industry and illustrate that my product is free. Reviewing competing products in the industry also helps me to strengthen my product.

Now that you understand the advantages of writing product reviews, here are some things to keep in mind in order to write a quality product review that will add value to your blog:

Try your best to purchase the product. I have been lucky enough where some of my readers share products with me, so in some cases I do not have to actually purchase the product. Readers can see through reviews from someone who has not actually purchased the product. If I am writing about a product that I did not purchase, I usually outline reasons why I did not purchase the product.
Add a discription and photo of the product if possible. If it is an acually physical product, a real photo of you with the product will add to credibility.
Include your full experience with the product. Both advantages and disadvantages of the product.
Outline who can benefit from purchasing the said product.
Include alternatives to the product being reviewed. If you have an alternative, this will be an ideal situation.

2. Case Studies

Too many bloggers write about the hypothetical, the ifs ands or buts. If you do not have experience in a specific area, doing a case study, whether it is successful or not, is a very practical and quality method of adding value to your blog. Many people jump online and start to blog and reader like to know who is the “Real Deal” and who isn’t.

3. Step by Step Tutorials

Tutorials are a great way to add value to your blog and increase readership. Your blog is an iformation center, and information is usually used to solve a problem(unless you are writing an entertainment or comedic blog). In my experience, when I provide tutorial on my blog, they are usually shared on any social media platforms. Making the tutorial a Step by Step one is a very important element. You may think that many problems are simple and do not need a thorough step by step explanation. You will be surprised as the level of some of the readers. Try to write for someone who KNOWS NOTHING about the topic. Even the veterens in your industry may learn a thing or two from a step by step tutroial. Writing these tutroials also helps to give you insight on the topic, I know it did for me. If the tutorial is too big to fit into one blog post, feel free to make it into a series. This will encourage readres to come back for the next part of the series.

4. Special Offers and Giveaways

This should not have to be said, but consumers today LOVE special offers, discounts and giveaways but they HATE gimmicks. When giving something away or creating a special offer, be as honest and upfront as possible. I personally hate when I see a special offer, and when I consider taking advantage of it, I see the complete gimmick behind it. If you make giveaways and special offers a common occurance on your blog(weekly, monthly etc.), readers will come back to your blog to see if you are offering something new.

5. Answers to Questions sent to you by readers

When you get questions from readers, you know that you are being successful in becoming an authority in your field. Answering questions from readers in your blog posts can help in a number of ways:

The reader asking the question can be lead back to the blog to view the answer. He or she may even respond and help with the interaction between readers and you, the blogger.
Other readers who may have had the same question will view you as an authority in your field and this is very important to encourage readers to come back.
Readers who have not asked questions before will be encouraged to ask their own questions. This will help with both developing future blog posts as well as understanding your readers and their needs more intimately.

4 Reasons Why Every Business needs a Blog

The main focus of my business, both with this website and creditrich.net, is to blog. I try to blog on a daily basis and keep all my information current and interesting. I AM A BLOGGER. But the truth is, any business with an online presence(or if you are not online you need to get online) can benefit from having a blog that is updated fairly regularly.

What is a Blog?

The term blog came about by combining the words “web” and “log” some time in 1997. A blog tends to be updated relatively regularly(unlike your typical corporate static website) and allows for interaction with clients, such as commenting, posting questions and answering polls.

So How will a Blog Help My Business?

Attraction Marketing – Attraction marketing is a marketing technique with the aim of teaching the consumer what a product or service is about and how it will benefit them. Seeing that a blog is usually a more personal and intimate means of communicating with clients, this is a perfect platform to implement attraction marketing. A blog should be used to inform and “soften” clients up as opposed to selling them a product or a service. This is becoming more and more important in todays competitive markets, where customers are more educated than ever.
Increased Communication with Customers – Again, a blog is a more personal form of communication with customers. More details about a companies daily business, and interaction with customers should be revealed in a blog, that would not usually be displayed on a corporate website. In a world where customers are more on the defensive for sales techniques and corporate communication, a blog is an effective tool to request customer feedback. It is also a perfect platform to revealed updated news and information on your company.
A Blog Helps with SEO – SEO is search engine optimization. If you wonder how many companies get on the first page of google for a number of search terms, it is through SEO. Over the years, when people asked me what I do for a living, I have answered with anything from “A financial consultant” to “An Author”. It is only relatively recently I have realized that more than anything else, I AM A BLOGGER, and I know more about Internet Marketing than I know about Finance. So What is Blogging for a living?

So when someone who knows little about making money online asks me what I do, and I give my new response,”I am a blogger”. This usually follows by something like, “Wow, that must be cool, who pays you to blog?” or, “Don’t you make money when many people read your blog?”. Although it is true that I usually make more money when more people read my blog, NO ONE PAYS ME TO BLOG(As in a job setting). Now, some people do get paid to blog, in situations where you work for a large corporation or a magazine that has a blog; but when I am talking about blogging for a living, your blog is your business. Many people do not become successful at blogging because because they do not look at a blog as a business.

So to answer the question, blogging for a living is creating an income generating, for profit enterprise, around a blog. I know for some of you this may seem as a surprise or hard to understand, but that is the bottom line. Generally, in order to become successful, you create a blog where you become an authority on a specific niche where you provide quality information for your readers. There are many “gurus” out there who suggest that you can create autoblogs and systems where you make money doing nothing, but this is not what we are talking about. In my opinion, autoblogs are a watse of time, and Google Panda just made it that much more difficult to make money and generate traffic from autoblogging.

How do I get start making money with a blog?

After I tell people that I blog for a living, the next question is, “How can I do that?”. Seeing that this is an introduction to blogging for a living, I will go through some basics needed in order to start blogging and earning money from it.

Choose your blog platform. I recommend wordpress.
Choose your blog topic. I am going to write a detailed post about choosing a topic for a blog.
Set up the blog with a custom theme and logo. We are currently offering a free service to set-up your blog.
Start Blogging. Produce high quality content for your viewers to read.
Generate traffic. There are many ways to generate traffic. Some people worry about traffic before they produce good content. Once you do this you will lose some visitors that have viewed your site.

Make more money online – The psychology edition

The notable psychologist and author Robert Cialdini wrote the classic book called “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion”. This book has sold over two million copies and is now being used in business and marketing classes.

The main core of his book are the “Six weapons of Influence”. They are:

Reciprocity
Commitment and Consistency
Social Proof
Liking
Authority
Scarcity

So how do we apply these techniques to internet marketing? Well lets go through each one.

Reciprocity
The basic premise of reciprocity is creating a sense of indebtedness. If I give someone something of value for free or offer my services for free I feel like I owe that person. In internet marketing, the application is endless give away a free ebook, do something for your subscribers, etc.

Commitment and Consistency
The principle of commitment basically says that human beings like to be seen as congruent with what they say they are. Therefore, if someone commits publicly about a specific choice that individual will put in extra effort to hold truth to those choices so that he/she can appear to be consistent. In addition, commitment can be used to scale towards bigger commitments. For example, if I ask for a loan of $100 and then a loan of $300 I am more likely to get the $300 loan by asking for $100 first rather than going straight to asking for $300.

In internet marketing this can be used by selling something for very cheap and slowly increasing the price on them.

Social Proof
Social proof is basically looking at the crowd or society. It is the mindset that “if others are doing it” it must be “OK” or if for a more applicable example if there’s a huge waiting list for a club you assume it must be a very good club. In internet marketing this can be as simple as posting up a “Like” button and seeing that 3000 other people liked it. Or having a counter for how many times someone signed up or bought a service from you.

Liking
If we have a liking towards someone he/she is way more likely to persuade us. This isn’t surprising, this just shows us the possibilities one can have if we establish a “liking” relationship before trying to persuade someone. In internet marketing this can be a little more indirect since there are no face to face meetings but it can be as simple as responding to someone or give compliments to someone online.

Authority
Research has shown that in general society tends to trust authority figures more. For example, if a CIA agent shows you his/her badge you are more likely to be persuaded because the assumption of that individual’s ranking. In internet marketing you must establish authority by being the “expert” in what you are talking about.

Scarcity
Everyone has experienced scarcity in infomercials or marketing. “Buy now, the offer ends in 1hr! “ If you ever heard catchphrases like these you are being exposed to scarcity marketing. Scarcity is also the reason why diamonds are so expensive. You can use scarcity in internet marketing by creating the “scarceness” of your product e.g offering only to the first 50 people or putting a time limit to your offer,etc.

I have been blogging full time for 5 years now, and I have had creditrich.net for a little over two years now. For most of the time I have been blogging, my primary income has been from ebooks that I have written and self published. They have been very solid products and over the years the prices ranges from $47-$650(Yes, I know..Crazy). I have been ranked in google for some very valuable search terms, and this is what has kept me making steady income for so long. As of recent, I have lost momentum in my traffic as well as my income. Part of the reason is due to my becoming complacent and neglecting the blog, so I am going back to the drawing board.

When I first started to blog back in 2006, everything that I offered was free. I gave very valuable information for free through blogging, and I produced my first ebook which was also free. The quality of that ebook was not as good as the ones I have produced in more recent times, but the bottom line is, it was FREE. In those days my traffic was very high and steady, although I really did not know what I was doing(with respect to internet marketing), but I was bringing in steady traffic through offering pertinent information on a continuous basis. The main advantage that I had, was that I was the first person to offer information on building business credit at that time that did not charge. In those days, companies were charging thousands of dollars for the information I was dispensing on my blog. Once my traffic was high enough, I decided to try to monetize my blog.

Being a newbie blogger at the time I researched various ways to monetize my blog. Some of the options I looked at were, affiliate links, google adsense, product creation and sale and service provider. I decided to use a mix of these four options. I wrote three ebooks, I started to offer business credit building services and I also placs affiliate links and google adsense on my blog. Out of these four income streams, my three products brought in the bulk of my income. They were quality products at a competitive price.

As I continued to make money online, I started to educate myself more and more about blogging to make money and monetizing a blog. Much of the information I read talked about creating a list and offering a product for free to help build your list. I always played with the idea of creating a watered down product to offer for free, but in my opinion, consumers will see right through that. Although I would have been offering a product for free, it would have had limited value, so I never moved to that option. I mentioned my dilema to one of my mentors, and he suggested that I give away my cheapest ebook to build the list and marketing the services and my other ebooks to the list. I never took heed because “my products were just too valuable”. Or so I thought.

What I am doing now.

Now that I am back to the drawing board to build traffic, I have finally decided to start building a list. I am sucking it up and now the Business Credit Bible, is now being offered for free on my business credit blog. The ebook has been offered for free on my blog for 4 days now, and I have had an average of 10 subcribers a day. The first day I had as many as 25 subscribers. Strangely enough, now that I have a product that is offered for free, I have a new drive to market my blog and build my list. I plan on making more money using email marketing and autoresponders and I will use this blog to continue my case study so that we can all learn from this experience.

So far I have seen a few basic advantages with offering a quality product for free:

Clients tend to trust me as an authority on the topic much faster than if all I did was try to get them to spend money.
I am getting more word of mouth marketing to my business credit blog.
The free product has links to my blog, and although users may share the product to potential clients who do not subscribe, it still serves as a marketing tool for my blog.
My product directly competes with other products on the market that are sold for hundreds of dollars. Although I may not get that initial income, I have clients for the long term that my competitors have now lost.

I cannot talk about any income increase yet(as this is the unltimate goal), but I will keep you guys updated on that front as time goes on. Also look out for a few free products that Jonhnson and I are creating for this blog.

Make money with your writing skills

Most work that involves making money online revolves around traffic and waiting for results. Actually… let me rephrase that about 90% of online marketing efforts will revolve around some kind of integration of web users in order to make money. However, there is one method that you can instantly start making money as soon as the work is finished.

The name of this game is called article writing. But what kind of articles can you I write about? All kinds! There are websites that cater to almost anything. Below are a good collection of websites you can write for In a “get paid by article” basis.

1.Demand Studios. I used to be a writer for Demand Studios and made a couple hundred dollars in one month alone. You can try applying to Demand studios on their website. They pay $15/ article, you do however need to be a U.S citizen and have some decent writing samples in order to start working for them. This is a great place for you to get started in freelance writing.

2.Youthtoday.org If your into more of the creative side of writing, you can write short stories or longer pieces. Currently, payments start from $150 for small pieces and up to $2000 for other work.

3.Online-writing-jobs.com. This place is a online freelance writing hub! It’s pretty much the craigslist for freelance hires. This website alone can get you a couple of freelancing gigs to get started right away.

4. Textbroker.com Textbroker is a little competitive to get into but once you are in you can start making decent amount of money writing quality articles. This site offers you up to $25 for only 500 words.

Making Money Online with Article Writing – Interview with Keiron Audain

When I started this blog, I decided that I will like to share real ways to make money online. I knew a few people that made a full time income online(including myself), but once I started to blog about it, I kept getting responses from more and more people that I know that are also making money online.

Keiron and I have been close friends for over 15 years. He, like me, grew up in Trinidad and Tobago. Keiron then went to study in the UK and is now located in South Africa doing a PhD. I was delighted to know that he was making money online by writing articles, while doing research for his PhD. I asked Keiron if he could share a little bit about his experience with making money with article writing. Below is a brief interview I had with him.

So Keiron, what do you do for a living right now?

I’m a freelance writer (online).

How long have you been writing articles?

I’ve been writing since 2005, but I only started to get paid for it last year (2010)

Who do you write articles for?

I write for a company called Demand Studios, who supply articles to several websites, including eHow.com

How did you find the company looking for article writers?

I saw an ad on a journalism recruitment site I subscribe to. journalism.co.uk

Were you a writer before?

Yes. I have always enjoyed writing, and I write on a few blogs.

What is your educational background?

I’ve got a Bachelors and Masters in Life Science. I’m currently doing research for my PhD project.

How did you find out about article writing as a way to make money?

I was browsing websites on how to be a successful freelance writer, as a way to earn money while studying. You tend to come across a lot of scams when trying to make money online. I kept looking and doing due diligence on the various sites until I was successful at finding a legitimate opportunity to write articles for a fixed fee.

What topics do you write about?

I write about science related topics, particularly environmental issues, but I write about these topics because I have a relatively similar background. There is a market for almost every topic you can think of.

How much are you paid per article and how long are the articles?

Each article is between 400 – 500 words and I get paid $15 US per article.

Do you write more than one article per day?

Most definitely. I cannot live on $15 per day.

What advice will you give someone who is looking to make some extra money online and is considering article writing as an option?

Websites that make writers bid for writing projects are very competitive and may cause new writers to get despondent. The best bet is to approach online publisher directly, or find a company that pays instantly per approved article. Write as much as you can, and a blog is essential.

Is there anything else you will like to ad that may help our readers with making money online?

Earning money online is a lifeline in these times. It is the way of the future, but it takes resilience, because it is not as easy as these get-rich-scheme sites try to make it out to be. I am really happy that I have the opportunity to contribute to a website that is taking an honest approach to making money online.

Make money online with Google Adsense

It has been proven that any medium that can get a lot of human eye balls can make money with ads. Take a look at the chart below from the Did you know Fact series.

It took 38 years for radio to reach an audience of 50 million, 13 years for TV and a whopping 4 years for the internet. All of these platforms can be served as mediums for different purposes(educational mediums, news medium, entertainment medium,etc) and all of these can be utilized to make money. For the past couple years we have all been familiar with radio ads, newspapers ads, and especially TV and internet ads. There will always be a proportion of the population that gets curious or are in need of a solution to something, and when your advertisement or product serves that need or pain point the consumer will at least peak some kind of curiosity and may even follow through on a click, a purchase, a phone call or a visit to a website.

Here’s a little example of internet ad revenue in a nutshell. Let’s say I get 100 visitors to my blog about how to score at least 2100 in the SAT’s.

Out of these 100 people, 10 people or 10% of my visitors are super desperate to get into an Ivy league like Harvard, Princeton, Yale ,etc. These 10 people see an ad on my blog about “How to get at least a 2100” on your SATs. Now lets say I get $1.50 per click (which isn’t too outrageous). That’s 10 clicks * $1.50/ click = $10.50 for the day.

Of course, this was a very simple example and in real life you will hardly ever get a 10% conversion rate however that doesn’t mean that you can’t make money. If you choose the right target customer and provide them with the right solution to their problem you will have a good chance of making money online.
