When Saladbox announced that the supposedly June box will become June-July box and will be shipped in July, I was like, "ok, whatever". I was really disappointed with the Runway Ready May 2014 SaladBox so I am not expecting anything anymore and I was just waiting for my three-month subscription to end.

But then, as with life, miracles can really happen. :D

I know I've been lazy with my blogging duties lately. You wouldn't believe the reason : I've been temporarily addicted to watching Korean dramas online to the point that my internet data cap suffered for two months (like, I can finish 16 episodes in two days)! It' a good thing my boss has only light online tasks for me (noVOIP duties or heavy research, otherwise I'm dead!)

I think, though, that my brain works like a switch so I woke up one morning and realized I don't want to watch any more dramas online. So here I am! Forgive me?

WHAT IT IS:
Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer is a 100% natural lip shimmer in various shades.

WHAT IT DOES:
It highly nourishes and moisturizes lips with Vitamin E and Beeswax.

KEY INGREDIENTS:
The main ingredients are Shea butter, combination of seed oils (apricot, strawberry seed, sunflower, black currant), and beeswax.

HOW IT FEELS/SMELLS/LOOKS:
It has the feel of lip balm because of its peppermint flavor but with a burst of color! It is also in a very slim tube. With a few swipes, it is very pigmented.

MY EXPERIENCE:

I like Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer because it has no parabens. It also comes in a very slim tube that easily fits in any tight purse. I also love its minty smell and flavor that is very cool and refreshing. It doesn't feel thick or heavy on the lips, which I really like. Being a homebased online freelancer, I don't go out much so this is perfect for me -- I can wear this and have a pop of sheer luscious color every day at home.

I know Php395 (around $9) for a 2.6g lip shimmer is a bit too pricey for some, but considering it is 100% natural, I would say it's worth it :)

Even though these are just sample sizes, I am very happy with what I got. Benefit Cosmetics is not something you get to buy from drugstores so these are very special to me. (Okay, don't get me started with that other box!).

Lollitint (candy-orchid tint) and Benetint (rose tint) are both lip-and-cheek tints. You can wear them under your favorite lipstick and blush and really lasts a long time.

They`re Real Mascara promises to curl, lengthen, volumes, lift and separates the lashes so this will surely go into my "kikay" kit!

I also got the mini Porefessional PRO Balm is an oil-free primer for translucent pore coverage. I have to try Fake Up Concealer, too, because I always have dark circles :( Big Easy is Benefit's version of BB (Blemish Balm) cream. The last but not the least, the Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow is an oil-free brightening liquid foundation .

Saladbox is late again!

I just received my May 2014 box today, June 14th. June 14th! Two weeks after the month of May!

And then...Here's what I got:

It's like adding salt to the wound :( :( :(

Unlike Dragon Chatter who got the Regatta Fresh Sunshine Body Spray, I think Saladbox forgot to put mine IN. THE. BOX.

Because all I got are these:

Smooth & Shine Shampoo & Conditioner Trial Pack by TRESemmé (Travel Pack, 90ml) - The curation card says full-sized bottle (600ml, I think) costs Php365 so a 90ml bottle is around Php54.75.

Oh, well...

Yuka Acetone-Free Nail Polish Remover Wipes in Grapes - Php65 for 35, I guess the price makes up for it being acetone-free and scented.

As I've said, I didn't get the box with the Regatta Fresh Sunshine Body Spray. It would have been fine if I had that.

And oh, I forgot. There's Dentiste Plus White Nighttime Herbapeutic Toothpaste. It's a sample tube too small to mention. It would take only a day to use this up.

And 3 pieces of Stationerly Just Because Cards. WHAT!

PRODUCT REVIEW: Bifesta Cleansing Lotion in MOIST

I normally don't put the whole make-up shebang every day since I work at home. Though I'm quite content with a good moisturizer and baby powder, I go out with sunscreen and BB cream on, touch of mascara, and my favorite matte lipstick. So when I got a P100 coupon from my May BDJ box, I decided to try and buy Bifesta Cleansing Lotion from Watsons at SM-Calamba to see if it's better than my 3-step regimen.

My skin leans more on normal-to-dry combination so I chose Bifesta Cleansing Lotion in Moist (300ml) variant. For oily skin, I saw Bifesta Cleansing Lotion in Sebum variant at Watsons.

Ta-daaa!

Bifesta is one of the Japanese leading brands by Mandom Corp, which caters to skin care for women with busy social and work schedules. This 300ml bottle is good for 1 to 1.5 months, even if you use it everyday.

Its cleansing agent effectively absorbs impurities allowing the easy removal of dead skin cells. Its moisturizing & toning properties make skin soft and smooth.

For cleansing and toning, on bottle is all you need. Wipe off with cotton pads. No need to rinse.

Bifesta Cleansing Lotion in MOIST without the plastic seal (with the English description).

Directions for Use:

Pump 2-3 times on cotton pads and wipe gently on face.
For eye make-up,wipe downward carefully to avoid contact with eyes.
For heavy make-up, use repeatedly until there is no trace of dirt and oil.
No need to rinse.

It certainly worked for me, as you can see in the picture.

What I like about Bifesta Cleansing Lotion:

It's a big plus that it is hypoallergenic and hypocomedogenic (gentle to the skin and won't clog pores).
It feels like water on skin, no sting at all.
My skin really felt hydrated after use.
It easily removed my matte lipstick and my waterproof mascara.
No rinse required.
Easy to find since it is available at Watsons and SM Department stores.

What I don't like about Bifesta Cleansing Lotion:

The English translation is on the plastic wrap which I have no choice but to remove it entirely.
I bought the 300ml bottle for Php419.00 (without the Php100 coupon) and I think it is a bit expensive for me.

Recommendation:

This is my first make-up remover and without considering the price, I could say I had a good experience. It really saves time since it is a no-rinse solution which is very appropriate for working women. The price though is expensive for my lifestyle. I would still recommend this to those who are looking for good make-up remover. It is still better to look for quality before price. No reason to be lazy and sleep with make-up on, is there?

GK Enchanted Farm Blogger Weekend Event Series 2 : Plush And Play - A Social Enterprise Offering Quality Stuff Toys and Felt Items

One of the social enterprise demos that we attended during the Blogger Weekend Event at GK Enchanted Farm is the Plush And Play.

Plush and Play is a social enterprise partner of Gawad Kalinga that produces quality stuff toys and felt items. Plush And Play stuff toys are hand-sewed by the women living in Gawad Kalinga communities. Every one attending the demo got to try making a toy from cutting the pattern to sewing it. It's a stuffed heart, as you can see in the picture. I don't have the picture of the finished product because I lost it. Sad, huh?

Instead of teddy bears, Plush And Play stuff toys are modeled from local fruits and vegetables like watermelon (Manny Pakwan), tomato (Anne Kamatis) and apple (Apple D' Ap) which is, for me, a fresh and exciting concept. Yes, I know, apple is not endemic here but to associate it with apl.de.ap who is a international pinoy singer, I think it will encourage kids to think local is still the best.

Participating in the Plush And Play demo made me understand a little bit more about social enterprise. A social enterprise is a business model that tackles social problems and improve communities.

I was doing my groceries at SM-Calamba when I came across Purederm Snail Cel Illuminating Multi-Step Treatment in one of their racks. I've been into facial mask sheets these days because the hot weather makes my skin dry.

What's exciting about Purederm Snail Cel Illuminating Multi-Step Treatment is that it comes with Cell Illuminating Ampoule and Snail 3D Mask.

How to use Purederm Snail Cell Illuminating Multi-Step Treatment :

Step 1 - Clean and tone face. Cut the pouch along the dotted line and use your fingers to evenly apply the Cell Illuminating Ampoule to your face. Make sure your hands are clean.

Step 2 - Apply the Snail 3D Mask in the following order : chin, forehead, nose and then mouth, Smooth out any air bubbles with fingers. Wear the mask 15-20 minutes and peel off slowly from the edges. Gently massage remaining essence into the skin

That's me. Awoooo!

My Experience:

The ampoule is a great way to prep the skin before the mask. It applies evenly and is very cool to the skin. This is my first 3D mask and I love it! It is specially designed to fit the face, especially the on the nose and chin area. It is not drippy at all. The mask remained moist and adhered to my face the whole 20 minutes it was put on. The 3D mask has a delicate smell. I also love the texture of the mask. What I am hesitant about is the price. It cost me P97.00 (around US$2.25) which is the most expensive mask I have ever bought yet.

After using it, my face felt supple and smooth. My pores looked smaller ,too. There is a soothing effect on my skin, especially in this crazy hot weather.

Would I recommend it? Yes, definitely.

GK Enchanted Farm Blogger Weekend Event Series : A Glimpse of Paradise

I posted a blogger event at the GK Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan a month ago and nearly forgot about it. Then I got an invitation to spend a weekend last May 24 to 25. At first, I thought it would be just like any other outing so I came with a shallow heart. But what I saw and experienced were far more than I expected. There are too many places, too many gastronomic experiences, too many lessons learned that I decided to make this a series of sorts.

So for the first in the series, let me introduce the GK Enchanted Farm. It is located in Brgy. (Village) Encanto, Angat, Bulacan. As the place suggests, it is indeed an "enchanted" or a very special place. The GK Enchanted Farm comprised of an integrated community and a farm university, set in the heart of a highly sustainable environment.

The GK Enchanted Farm is Gawad Kalinga’s platform to raise social entrepreneurs, help our local farmers and create wealth in the countryside. As we learned that the road out of poverty is a continuing journey and therefore, providing homes is merely the beginning, we also realized that our country is abundant with resources (land included) that we can harness for every Filipino to continuously lead a life with dignity.

The GK Enchanted Farm Blogger Weekend composed of a tour of the farm, a visit to different social enterprises, wonderful food and company, and an informal talk with Mr. Tony Meloto himself.

What caught my eye was how the roof was made. I imagine it would look like an umbrella above. With the GK's vision of sustainable environment, the roof is specially designed to catch rainwater into a reservoir. See that tube ("alulod") connecting the roof panel to the next?

Where the sky is vast and blue.

And everything is green and self-sustaining.

Where children who previously lived in the urban slums are happy and has a future. They are polite and well-mannered, who can converse well in English and French.

I love Jollibee! I normally have pancakes and coffee almost thrice a week either at Jollibee-Crossing (open 24hrs) or at Jollibee-Lianas Discount City.

So yesterday I got this The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Image Appearing Tumbler! With any Jollibee Value Meal purchase, you can avail this tumbler just for Php60.00. It's like those special coffee mugs that change colors when poured hot beverages. Only this time, the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Image Appearing Tumbler is for cold beverages only,perfect for kids especially this summer.

This is what it looks like at regular temperature. Spidey looks pale. It looks like a thermos, but it is not.

The rim is gold-toned, but the inside wall is the same silver color as outside. It has a removable rubber lid lock that you can wash easily. It also has a clip that you can use to hang the tumbler to your backpack or secure in your bike holder.

Make sure to take note of the instructions, especially #2. Though it looks like a thermos, please do not use with hot beverages!

As a VA working US hours, I get this midnight snack cravings most of the time. Since my boss, who is very generous, gave me paid lunch breaks (aside from paid Philippine legal holidays), I made a quick run to the nearest 7-11 to get chocolate chip cookies. :)

It is very typical of me to buy more than what I originally planned so I ended up getting their hot rice meal and coffee, aside from chocolate chip cookies.

Well, anyway. The nice girl at the counter offered me the Every Day! Rewards Card for only P10.00. Yes, just ten pesos for a reward card. Imagine. I was surprised because normally reward cards cost around a hundred pesos or more.

Remember when I posted last week that I watched Rio 2? Well, what I didn't tell you that while waiting for the movie to begin (an hour and a half), I made a slight detour to several stores and bought the following:

More like flash buying, haha! I have moments like that. IKR. So anyway, that got me thirsty.

Since the queue at Starbucks is super long, I decided to try Dakasi located near the SM Calamba Cinemas. I'm trying to cut down on soda and I'm not much of a tea drinker, much less a milk tea drinker but Dakasi caught my attention because they look bright and happy with that yellow star logo and soft lights. The store also looks very inviting with all that glass, too. :)

So I asked the crew what is their "mainit na masarap" (hot and delicious) and they are quick to offer their bestseller, the Hot Dakasi Bubble Milk Tea.

According to the Dakasi website:

Pearl milk tea or bubble tea, and unique Taiwanese style fresh tea drinks have been the favorite beverage of the Taiwanese people.

A little bit of Dakasi history:

Dakasi owes its humble beginnings in Taiwan in 1990 serving fresh tea drinks. In 1999, it opened stores in Guangzhou, China and eventually set up its main office there. After more than 10 years of endeavor, outlets have spread throughout China and Southeast Asia. It’s now a tremendously influential brand in China and has become the number one brand among its counterparts.

To be ~~quite~~ really honest, this is my first milk tea. AND. I. LOVED. IT. I'm sure many would ask, where's my cave? I'm an old (but pretty) dog who loves coffee, that's why. Ha ha! But who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

What I love about Dakasi's milk tea is the size of their pearls. It's really smaller than the average pearls (all I know is Zagu's) so I was able to enjoy it more. Their milk tea is perfectly sweet for me and I am sure to go back and try out the rest of their menu. Dakasi milk teas range from Php80 to Php120 and you can add some jazz with their add-ons of Pearls, Grass Jelly, Coconut Jelly, Chocolate Pudding, Egg Pudding, Aloe Vera.

My First Blog + Birthday Giveaway

Hi, my dear readers!

May 7th is a special day! It's my birthday! There'll be lots and lots of exclamation marks in this post. Ha!

I'm pretty excited, that's why. There are a lot of changes that happened this last year.

For one thing, I had an unexpected, but rewarding, career shift. All my life I slaved in a 9-to-5 desk job and then last year, I discovered online freelancing! I was lucky that my current client was very generous, not just with the monetary aspect, but also with training and mentoring. When I started working remotely, all I have is ESL (English as Secondary Language) training, a bit of MS Office, and a LOT of determination.

I redicovered blogging again. I had a previous blog called Fickleinpink back in 2008-2010 but I stopped when my family discovered too late that my mother had Diabetes II. I stopped because I was busy with "real life", so to speak. I guess when blogging gets into your blood, you can't get away from it anymore :)

So now, I'm back to my feet and re-started blogging again. And I realized, we need to CELEBRATE!

Today being Black Saturday, I should have stayed at home, but I feel as if the gates of hell (excuse the pun) are open because of the hot and humid weather. I really hate summer afternoons when the sun is beginning to set and the heat absorbed by the cement walls start to dissipate into the room. :(

So I decided to go to SM Calamba (only a 10-minute drive from home) to cool down. I brought my tablet and my camera (with the damaged flash) along with me (I don't know why. Ha!)

Anyway.

Starbuck's is full. No seats at the Food Court. So I went to SM Cinema at the 3rd Floor and checked the movie listing:

Rio 2
Diary ng Panget (interesting, but it's a YA (Young Adult) genre)
Da Possessed (a Vhong-Solenn tandem, but a title like that, seriously?)
Transendence (Johnny Depp movie)

My movie-to-watch hierarchy works like this:

Foreign animated
Foreign superheroes
Foreign suspense-drama
Philippine Indie movies
~~99% Pinoy commercial movies~~ (sorry)

Okay, enough of small talk. :D Off to Rio 2!

The story is about Blu and Jewel's family and friends' journey to the Amazon's wilderness. The movie started a New Year's bash with a lot of music and dancing, as expected in animated movies so, though enjoyable, it's no surprise to me. Fast forward to a few years after Rio 1, Blu and Jewel, together with their three kids, are living the city life in Rio Janeiro. The kids are already acclimated to iPods, pancake breakfast, and Brazilian nuts in a can.

Meanwhile, Linda (Blu's previous owner) and her husband Tulio are on an expedition and discovered that there are still spix macaws in the Amazon and decided to search for them. The news of the existence of macaws in the Amazon found its way to Rio Janeiro's televison, Jewel asked Blu to go to the Amazon to search for their kind. Blu, already a domesticated macaw, was unenthusiastic, but decided to go along. His carnival friends Rafael, Nico, and Pedro decided to come along, too. Luis, the bulldog, was left behind.

There is also Nigel, Blu's antagonist from Rio 1 who, upon seeing Blu flying, remembered why he cannot fly anymore. Together with Gabi, a poison dart frog in love with Nigel, and Charlie the non-speaking anteater, they set off to follow Blu and company into the jungle for revenge.

Blu, now considers himself a city bird, brought a fanny pack full of city gadgets like the swiss knife and his GPS. Blu tried his best to fit in with the flock and fails, much to the disappointment of Jewel's father Eduardo. Blu was also a bit jealous of Roberto, Jewel's childhood friend.

Blu, as his saying goes - happy wife, happy life, decides to bring a Brazilian nut for Jewel but inadvertently entered the scarlet macaws' territory. It started a war that was played out by a football-like game where the loser will also lose their side of the Brazilian nut territory to the winner. Which, as expected, the blue macaws lost because Blu sent the fruit ball into his own goal.

Big Boss and his loggers tried to cut and blow up the trees. Blu sent Roberto to warn the flock and defend their territory. The scarlet macaws joined the fracas by helping the blue macaws drive away the loggers. Nigel's plan to kill Blu was foiled, again. He thought he died when he was hit by the porcupine quill dipped in Gabi's poison. There's a Romeo-and-Juliet attempt where Gabi commits suicide by drinking her own poison. Gabi found out later that she was only led to believe by her parents that she was poisonous.

The story ended with Big Boss swallowed by a python, Nigel and Gabi were taken by Linda and Tulio back to the city. Blu and Jewel decides to finally stay in the jungle and would just visit Rio Janeiro every Summer. And oh, Luis the bulldog finally arrived by joyriding in a spoonbill.

Thoughts:

I did a little research and found out that spix macaws, or little blue macaws, are considered extinct in the wild.
I think Tulio, Linda's orthnitologist husband, is sexist. There is a scene early in the movie where Tulio is talking to his camera and introduced Linda only as his "assistant", much to Linda's annoyance.
Blu's Happy Wife, Happy Life motto. I'm not sure what to think about that.:) But I think Blu is a lot smarter than most human males I know (wink,wink).
The sequel is fun, but I think I like Rio 1 more.

Mr. Kimbob's SIGNATURE DISH "Bibimbob"! : My First Taste of Korean Food

Most often than not, I eat out. That's the downside of being single and a VA at the same time. Home cooking for one could be a hassle sometimes so I just go out and grab some fast food burger, fries and soda.

Ikr. Unhealthy.

So yesterday when I went to SM-Calamba looking for a gold-tipped Sharpie pen (I have to start nail art somewhere) and a camera repair center.

I went up to the Food Court because it connects to the footbridge going to Calamba Crossing. Too bad I wasn't able to get a picture:( Anyway, I was hungry and saw Mr. KimBob. Aside from having the longest queue of customers, Mr. Kimbob got my attention because their service crews are calling everyone and offering their printed menus to all passersby, like hawking in the local market, which is not bad at all. I call it marketing strategy.

I ask one of the crew what is their bestseller and she recommended their bibimbap called Bibimbob.

According to wiki,

Bibimbap (비빔밥, Korean pronunciation: [pibimbap], sometimes anglicized bi bim bap or bi bim bop) is a signature Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice". Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It is best served hot.

There are three choices: pork, chicken, or beef. My meat of choice is beef. There are five kinds of steamed vegetables: mung sprouts (togue), cabbage (repolyo), carrots, chayote or vegetable pear (sayote), and another vegetable which I don't know the name.

Regular Size Bibimbob is only Php99.00 (Large serving costs Php119.00) but I added Php20.00 for my kimchi rice instead of plain. It is topped with a perfect sunny side up egg and served on a sizzling plate and their special Korean chilli sauce.

Again, forgive the photo ;) There is a paper guard around the sizzling plate. There is a warning NOT to remove the paper to avoid scalding. Bibimbob is really served very, very hot!Also, there is a written instruction on how to eat bibimbap properly, which is to mix everything.

Also, I also ordered a side dish of Fried Dumplings.

All in all, I was very satisfied with the serving and I love everything with chilli. This is my first time to eat bibimbap and I love it. It is certainly a Korean Health Food since nothing is fried and it is already a complete meal : carbs, protein, and vegetables. The taste is not boring, too! I'm definitely going to go back, there are still a lot to try in the menu.

Yay! My March 2014 (and second) Salad Box arrived yesterday and I am so excited!

First, I want to say kudos to the Salad Box team for keeping their promise that we will get the box according to the sampling month. I received mine on March 29th, 2 days shy of April. But still, I'm glad I got it IN March, though. My box didn't have the outer label like the Peachy Pink Sisters' but nevertheless, I am so excited :)

Easy Application - Glides very smoothly and evenly.
Moisturizing - My lips doesn't feel dry at all, did not chap even after a couple of hours.
Slim Packaging - It has a very slim, sleek look and I can see through the shade so I can choose the perfect shade in a rush.

In my previous post, I told you I received two boxes in the mail. This is the larger of the two and my first box from Glamourbox.

Let me tell you a little secret. I'm actually new to subscription boxes that's why I'm so excited about this! Glamourbox is one of the beauty subscription boxes available in the Philippines. The box itself is thick and sturdy and it came inside another shipping box. Glamourbox really took care of the shipping and handling. And they were fast! I ordered the box on February 21st and I received it on the 23rd ( I live outside NCR). I love you already, Glamourbox!

My First Impression : Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Gel Review

Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Gel is part of my beauty haul from Saladbox. I normally exfoliate using facial scrubs only because I've had nightmares with skin peeling agents before. What peaked my interest with this item is that it is Color and Fragrance Free and it said on the back of the sample pack that No Animal Testing was done. For me, those are the best selling points with any product!

It's a water-based gel that spreads evenly on my face and neck. I was pleasantly surprised because I never felt any stinging or tingling sensation that I normally experience with exfoliating creams! And do you what's the best surprise of all? I saw results RIGHT AWAY! I knew that Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Gel is working because as I massaged the gel on my face, I felt dead skin falling away. I tell you, dead skin is being removed as I applied it! Whoa. I think I'm going to love this product.

Also, Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Gel contains natural extracts from Green Tea, Willow Herb and Purslane.

This product is perfect for Combination and Oily skin, especially with acne breakouts and large pores. My skin leans towards Combination, I don't have much problem with breakouts, but I really have to deal with wrinkles and ageing.

What I liked about the product:

Water-based. It's easily absorbed and not sticky on the face.
Fast results.
Fragrance Free.
Color Free.
Not tested on Animals.

What I don't like about the product: None that I can think of.

Use once or twice daily on clean and toned face

Contraindication: Do not use if you are allergic to Aspirin or its derivative.

SaladBox Unboxing : January - February 2014

Finally, finally!

THE. BOX. FINALLY. ARRIVED.

My first box of the 3-month subscription from Saladbox arrived today after almost ten weeks of waiting. Before we go to the much awaited unveiling of the box, let me tell you my first impression of Saladbox.

Saladbox is the very first beauty subscription in the Philippines and I've read very good reviews about them in 2012 and the first half of 2013. So I made up my mind that I will get one as soon as I can.

The regular box cost P500 but last November, I subscribed to Saladbox Starter Plus Plan - Black Friday 2013 Promo for Php900.00 for a 3-month subscription. I was under the impression from their advertisements (on their website and FB page) that I would get the December 2013 box but no! No, no, no! I am a virtual administrative assistant and I understand too well the mad Christmas rush so I waited. How I waited!

So after a couple of email exchanges, I was let known that I'm in line for the Jan 2014 box (the December boxes were already sold out) which of course they didn't tell me when they received my payment. That got me disappointed. January came and went, still no box. First week of February, still no box. Second week, still no box in sight. I'm almost at the point of wanting to get my money back, but then, I wanted to give Saladbox a chance to redeem itself.

Oh, well. Moving on.

As I was saying, I received two packages today and in my excitement, I forgot to take a picture. One is larger and heavier, and the other one, almost half the size and weight. I'm not the save-the-best-for-last kind of girl (at least for presents and things in the mail), so I opened the larger one. Good news first.

(Drumroll, please!)

Okay. Stop.

It's not my Saladbox. It's from another subscription box which I ordered two days ago.

The Saladbox is the smaller one. When I opened it, voila!

The back of the curation card with the list of contents. I noticed that the Missha Pure Source Sheet Mask in Honey was not included in the curation list. I wonder why. Either they missed this typographical error or they just threw in the mask as an afterthought.

And there's another card explaining the delay of the boxes, sort of, stating that January-February 2014 Salad box is equivalent to one subscription only and that future Saladboxes will be delivered in the sample month.

If I understand this correctly, the March 2014 Saladbox will be delivered in March and April Box will be in April, etc. (Mental note to self: email them to confirm.)

Now for the real deal, let's check them out according to my level of excitement with the item.

I'm a sucker for facial moisturizers so Missha's 100% Pure Cotton Sheet Mask in Honey surely caught my attention. Missha masks are with serum derived from natural ingredients.

I also liked Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting (Exfoliant) and Paula's Choice RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer (Moisturizer). What won me over? It says Color and Fragrance Free. The down side is, both are sachet samples which are good for one-time use only.

Clou Nail Beads

I'm not a fan of nail art, though I like getting fancy mani and pedi once in a while. But this could be an opportunity to learn nail art on my own. Hmmm, we'll see.

My Conclusion:

For a Php300 per box (3-month subscription) for the Black Friday deal, getting more than Php1,000 is not so bad. I'm just disappointed that this Saladbox splurged on nail art beads that are too expensive for my taste. It would have made me happier if the box contained more of the Missha or Paula's Choice items.

I suppose Saladbox and I started on a wrong foot (certainly not mine!) and I'm giving them two more boxes to redeem themselves. The worst thing that you can do to a customer is to keep them waiting. I hope Saladbox will keep their promise of sending the box on time. Two more boxes to go.
