"When you want your hip hop sounds alien, lethargic and with a certain stink to bad hygiene feet or cared, that's when you call Sensational. Could you do with Beans or any other member of Anti-Pop Consortium, but they are more posh, and Brooklyn is almost a pauper, who was so fucked up that he note in his voice. So, that throat cancer is so well with beats that seem a cross between Alva Noto, Skream and Chris & Cosey, who serves Nochexxx producer, back into the family Werk. A freshly cut vinyl EDTI by the English label that does not add anything special to the avant-rap beyond the confidence to say "we can continue doing so rare, even more than you thought. We would not want to be with these two in the same room."

Hazyville is a great record. It’s thick with atmosphere. I was listening to it while walking around yesterday and it makes everything feel more dramatic.
Hazyville was written at different stages from 2004 right up to 2008. It was recorded on different equipment, formats, computers and spaces. The main influence during the writing process was Mrs Skunk, and 16 hour sessions recording in a space that was both living room, kitchen, office and dance-floor. Paper thin walls, complaining neighbors, the constant hum of double-decker buses. Psychologically it was a very dramatic experience, but through that dense haze I had a crystal vision of how the final piece would sound.

How do you plan to follow it?
A new piece of work has just been completed, and it’s to be released on Honest Jon’s. Whatever interest I have at a particular time, I try to put back into the music, so for the last year I’ve read a lot about Francis Bacon and Claude Monet, I spent a lot of time walking through the Pompidou Centre in Paris, found an interest in binary codes and numeral systems, and decided that I’d like to explore the emotion of the computer. The results at times were quite Brutalistic.

Recently a couple of tracks you worked on with Zomby emerged on your blog. Are there more to come?
Maybe…we talk a lot, and sporadically play with ideas, but that’s about it for the moment. My only impression of Zomby is informed by the music he has written…most of which is pretty special.

"B&F: Where did your interest in music production begin?

Lone: Listening to bootleg rave tapes and the altern8 album. I could tell that stuff wasn’t created by live instruments or anything and was fascinated by what exactly it was made with. As I grew up, I started to find out how it was all done. I’m the sort of person that when i get interested in something I want to make my own version of it, so I think I was probably always going to end up doing this."

"I’d always play Andy some Autechre and Aphex Twin and stuff and he’d be like, “Yeah, it’s cool and everything, but let’s put on 36 Chambers again.” So, although I started to slip in as much of an electronica influence as I could, our main thing was Wu-Tang or DJ Premier or whatever–so I guess in our own naive way we were just trying to emulate that stuff… and getting it totally wrong, obviously."
