This photo is dear to my heart. I made it specifically as a centerpiece of an exhibition I had in Boston some years ago. The picture resembles in “one” shoot what I associate with Boston when I’m in the city (mostly Sundays). There is Park Street Station; there is the Common; there is the unique skyline of Back Bay with John Hancock Tower and the Prudential Center; There is the Tremont street and the start of the freedom trail. I hope many of my Bostonian Friends and many Boston Fans can relate.
Technically this is not “one” shot. It is an extreme wide skewed panorama. All the different elements of the photos are, in reality, further away from each other than you think. I remember it took me some time to bend it in the form to have everything in one shot and still to look natural (15 shots * 3 exposures, 40mm, 2sec, f8.0)
I compensate for the stark dynamic range (dark Boston Common and street light) with Lumenzia / Luminosity Masks.

Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal is Canada’s largest church and claims to has one of the largest domes in the world. I had no idea about the church and then discovered and stroll through the city at night. It is an epic feeling if you expect not much and then stand in front of this massive structure. I hope this feeling comes across with this photo.

Today’s post is dedicated to all the people who sacrificed so much to ensure we can live the life we live now. Thank you very much!!! No better place to go on such a day than the Boston Common and visit the Memorial Day Flag Garden. 37000 flags, each representing a Massachusetts service member who has died in action since the Revolutionary War.

Germany can be so unique and beautiful. But when you live there, you do not always realize this fact. The Old Town Hall of Bamberg is a great example of this. I have never seen a town hall that is built right into the middle of a river. Have you?<br />

Photo background: I rediscovered this photo when I was going over my file archive. It is over ten years old, and during that time, I must admit I used way too much HDR ;-( For this feed, I reprocessed the old version and tried to correct the sins of the past. I hope you like the result.

I’m on my way back to Boston. It’s time for a new photo and why not one from my home town. This picture I took from the Prudential Center in Boston, and it is by far one of my most favorite shots from Boston. Technical it is again a 3exposure blend, and I used luminosity masks to adjust the sky. But what camera did I use? Any guesses?

It might be hard to get to Passau in Germany, but the trip is really worth the effort. The Dom in Passau is one of a kind. I truly love the bavarian style cathedrals. They are very light and white and at the same time very colorful. There is so much to discover at every corner of these church. Unfortunately, on Instagram it is not possible to zoom in really close.

This building is pretty likely one of the most iconic inner-city cathedrals in the world. The photo was taken from the side of the Rockefeller Center. It’s a classical perspective, but I love the contrast of the cathedral in opposition to the surrounding modern towers of NYC. Looking forward to seeing this beautiful building soon again.

Istanbul is one of the most exciting cities in Europe or Asia or between. It brings together people from around the globe: Christian and Muslim, Europe and the Middle East, old and new world. Nowhere in the city can this be better observed than at the harbor.

Technique: This is an ultra-long time exposure (Nikon D7000, Tamron 17-50mm, f16, 3 Min, ISO 100, 50mm). I used an old welding glass to achieve an exposure beyond 3 Minutes. Therefore, the ships are not sharp, while the mosques are crisp, which contributes to the atmosphere. I used Luminosity masks/Lumeniaz to move the sky (the cloud were at the sky on that day, but on another place
