Discussion Questions:

In Nehemiah 4:1-3, opposition comes quickly and loudly through ridicule and discouragement. What specific tactics do Sanballat and Tobiah use, and what do they seem to be aiming at beneath the surface? What does this reveal about how opposition often works when God’s people step out in obedience?
In verses 4-6, Nehemiah’s response is prayer followed by continued work. What do you notice about how Nehemiah prays, and how that prayer shapes the people’s resolve to keep building? Why do you think prayer and perseverance are paired so closely here?
In verses 7-14, the threat escalates from mockery to potential violence. How does Nehemiah address both the spiritual fear and the practical danger facing the people? What stands out to you about his call to “remember the Lord, who is great and awesome”?
Jon talked about opposition being almost inevitable when God’s work is moving forward. Where have you experienced discouragement, fear, or resistance when trying to rebuild something God cares about in your life?
Nehemiah leads God’s people to remember the Lord in the face of opposition. How does Jesus ultimately fulfill this role as the One who stands in the gap for us, fights for us, and secures our victory? How does that reality change the way you respond to opposition or discouragement right now?

This Sunday in our REBUILD series, we’re in Nehemiah 2, where Nehemiah moves from prayer to action. With courage and faith, he steps forward into what God has placed on his heart—even when the risks are real.

Discussion Questions:

What was encouraging, challenging, or comforting from this past week's sermon?
In verses 1-5 of ch 2, Nehemiah finally speaks to the king about the burden he’s been carrying. Does anything stand out to you about the timing of the sharing that happens (after prayer/waiting)?
When the king asks Nehemiah what he wants (vv. 4–8), Nehemiah prays quickly and then speaks clearly. What does this moment show us about the connection between prayer and courage? When have you had to take a step before feeling fully ready?
Nehemiah faced opposition almost immediately in verses 9–10, despite being obedient in following the Lord - Why do you think resistance so often shows up right when we start moving forward? How have you seen that play out in your own walk with God?
Nehemiah ultimately steps into his calling because “the gracious hand of my God was upon me” (v. 8, v. 18). Don't forget Jesus who perfectly trusted the Father, faced opposition, and took the ultimate step to bring restoration? What might it look like you to follow the Savior and to take a next step of faith right now—not the whole rebuild, just the next faithful step?

What if this season is God’s invitation to rebuild?

This week we begin a new sermon series called REBUILD, rooted in Nehemiah 1. It’s a powerful reminder that God is always at work restoring what sin, hardship, or time has broken down. Just like Nehemiah, we’re invited to step forward in faith, trust God’s provision, and begin the work He’s placed before us.

Discussion Questions:

In verses 1-3, Nehemiah hears about the condition of Jerusalem. What words are used to describe the city and its people, and what do those details tell us about the depth of the brokenness?
In verses 4-7, Nehemiah’s first response is prayer. What stands out to you about the tone and content of his prayer?
In verses 8-10, Nehemiah appeals to God’s promises to restore His people. Why do you think Nehemiah grounds his prayer in God’s Word and character instead of immediately asking God to fix the problem?
Nehemiah is burdened by broken walls and vulnerable people, yet he believes God is able to restore what sin and exile have destroyed. How does Nehemiah’s role here point us forward to Jesus-the One who ultimately comes to rebuild what sin has broken and bring true restoration?
Nehemiah ends the chapter preparing to act (v. 11). Where do you sense God might be calling you to move from burden, to prayer, to action in this season as He rebuilds areas of your life?

In Isaiah 9:1–2, Isaiah describes a movement from deep darkness to light. Based on the text, what is the source of this shift? What does Isaiah want us to see as the turning point from doom to hope?
Isaiah calls the Messiah the “Prince of Peace” in verse 6. Looking at verses 6–7, where does this peace come from, and what kind of peace is Isaiah describing? What clues do we get that this peace is rooted in God’s rule, not our circumstances?
In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul says we are reconciled to God through Christ and calls people to “be reconciled to God.” How does peace with God serve as the foundation for every other kind of peace Isaiah points toward?
Jesus says in John 14:27, “My peace I give to you… not as the world gives.” How does Jesus’ definition of peace differ from what we usually think of when we talk about peace? How does this help us understand why inner peace can exist even when life feels unsettled?
Pastor Jon talked about peace in four directions—peace with God, peace within, peace with others, and peace that is still to come. Which of those do you feel most drawn to or most lacking right now, and how does Scripture invite you to take a step toward peace there?

Discussion Questions:

Read Isaiah 9:6 slowly together. Which word or phrase in the title “Everlasting Father” stands out to you most right now, and why do you think that caught your attention?
Isaiah is promising a leader who embodies the heart of a faithful, enduring father in a world marked by instability and failed leadership. Where do you see people today (or even yourself) longing for that kind of steady presence and care?
Verse 7 says this Father-like King rules with justice and righteousness and that His reign will never end. How does that contrast with the ways authority, leadership, or power have been used in your own life experiences?
Without overthinking it, can you name a moment in your life when you experienced God’s care or faithfulness in a way that felt fatherly—protective, patient, steady, or present? What was going on in that season?
For those of us who carry either wounds or gratitude connected to our earthly fathers, how does Isaiah’s picture of an Everlasting Father invite us to see God differently- or trust Him more deeply - right now?

This week we are focusing on the name Mighty God—the One whose power breaks into our world with hope, strength, and salvation.

Discussion Questions:

In verses 4–5, Isaiah talks about God breaking the yoke, the rod of the oppressor, and ending warfare. What kinds of power does God say He’s going to display here, and what does that tell us about what the “Mighty God” actually comes to do?
Verse 6 calls this coming child “Mighty God.” Based on everything Isaiah has already said in this passage, why would that title have been both comforting and shocking to God’s people?
Verse 7 says His kingdom will be marked by justice and righteousness and will never end. How is that different from the kind of leadership and power Israel had experienced from earthly kings?
Tyson connected Isaiah 9 to Revelation 19, where Jesus returns as the victorious King. How does holding both of those pictures together - Jesus coming humbly and Jesus returning powerfully- shape the way we understand who He is?
If Jesus is truly our Mighty God now and the King who will one day return to set everything right, how should that shape the way we live, trust Him, and face the brokenness we see around us?

Wonderful Counselor (Audio)

In a season filled with noise, hurry, and expectation, we pause to see and celebrate the COMFORT of His presence. Just as the angels proclaimed good news and the shepherds were drawn into worship, we come together to exalt Christ—the Light who breaks through darkness and brings peace to weary hearts.

Discussion Questions:

In verses 1–2, what kinds of darkness does Isaiah describe, and what does it mean that a “great light” will shine on those living in that darkness? How does the text itself show the difference this light will make?
In verses 3–5, Isaiah lists several results of God’s future work—joy, freedom, peace, victory. What stands out to you about these descriptions, and what do they teach us about the kind of salvation the coming Messiah would bring?
One of the titles given is “Wonderful Counselor.” Looking at the flow of the passage, what does this tell us about the kind of wisdom, guidance, and leadership the Messiah brings? How does this contrast with the failed leadership Israel had experienced?
Isaiah points forward to Jesus, our Wonderful Counselor—wise, faithful, powerful, and present with His people. How have you seen Jesus counsel or guide you, and where do you need His wisdom most right now?

Jesus Changes Everything (Audio)

This week we’re diving into one of the wildest and most hope-filled stories in the Gospels: Mark 5:1–20. It starts in absolute chaos—darkness, fear, and a man everyone had given up on—and ends with a life completely changed by Jesus.

Discussion Questions:

When Jesus steps onto the shore in verses 1–6, what details stand out about the man’s condition? Any questions that come about from this?
After the man is delivered, verse 15 gives a clear picture of who he becomes. What stands out to you about this transformation, and why do you think Mark wants us to see the contrast so plainly?
The townspeople beg Jesus to leave (v. 17), while the man begs to go with Him (v. 18). What does this contrast show about the different ways people respond to Jesus’ power and mercy? How do you see similar responses today?
Jesus sends the man home to tell others “how much the Lord has done for you, and how He has had mercy on you” (v. 19). What has the Lord done for you, and who is one person you can intentionally share that with this week?

Remembering What God Did For Us (Audio)

As we conclude our Be Strong series we are challenged with a powerful call to commitment from Joshua 24. It’s a moment of decision—a time to declare boldly whom we will serve.

Joshua challenged God’s people to choose that day, and we’re invited to do the same. Come ready for a meaningful time of reflection and renewed devotion as we seek to live out our life mission with a “Joshua kind of faith”.

Discussion Questions:

In verses 1–13, Joshua walks the people back through God’s faithfulness across generations. As you look at that list, what stands out to you about who God is and how He has acted for His people? How does remembering God’s past work prepare them (and us) for renewed commitment?
In verse 14, Joshua tells Israel to “fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in faithfulness.” Based on the text, what does that kind of service look like? What specific actions does Joshua connect to wholehearted devotion?
Joshua tells the people in verse 23 to “put away the foreign gods” that were still in their lives. Jon reminded us that we often hold on to our own idols even while following the Lord. What are the things in your life that, if God asked you to release them, you’d struggle the most to surrender? Where have you seen those things function as idols - shaping your decisions, your emotions, or your sense of security?
Joshua tells the people to choose whom they will serve, but he’s also honest that they can’t be faithful in their own strength (v. 19). That tension points us forward to Jesus—the One who perfectly kept God’s covenant, cleanses us from our idols, and enables us to serve God wholeheartedly as we look toward our true Promised Land, the place of eternal rest (Heb. 4). How does fixing your eyes on Christ reshape the way you hear and respond to Joshua’s challenge today?

In this week's message, we'll look at one of the most recognizable accounts in the whole Bible. However, just because it's familiar doesn't mean we still can't learn from it this week. As we look at the life of Joshua, you'll be encouraged to see how God showed up for him and the nation of Israel.

Discussion Questions:

When Joshua encounters the commander of the Lord’s army (5:13–15), what do you notice about how Joshua approaches him and how the commander responds? What does this moment reveal about who truly leads God’s people into battle and what kind of posture God calls Joshua - and us- to have before Him?
In chapter 6, as Pastor Tyson discussed, God gives Joshua an unusual battle plan. What do you notice about the instructions God gives and Joshua’s obedience to them? What does this teach us about trusting God even when His ways don’t make sense?
The walls of Jericho fell only after Israel obeyed God’s command in full. What does that moment reveal about the relationship between faith and obedience?
Rahab’s story (6:22-25) is a powerful contrast in this passage. What do we learn about God’s mercy and faithfulness through Rahab’s rescue and her scarlet cord?
The fall of Jericho shows both God’s judgment on sin and His mercy toward those who trust Him. How does this scene point us forward to the cross- where God’s judgment and mercy meet fully in Jesus- and how should that shape the way we live on mission with courage and compassion?

River Crossing

We continue our Be Strong series with a powerful message from Joshua 3–4. As God’s people stepped into the unknown, they carried with them reminders of His faithfulness — markers of what He had done and promises of what He would do.

Be encouraged and equipped to live out your life mission with courageous and confidence in the God who goes before you.

Discussion Questions:

In chapter 3, what do you notice about the role of the ark of the covenant as Israel prepared to cross the Jordan? What does that reveal about God’s presence and leadership among His people?
When the priests stepped into the Jordan and the waters stopped (3:14-17), what details stand out to you about God’s timing and power? How does this moment reveal His faithfulness to keep His promises?
In chapter 4, God commands the people to take twelve stones from the riverbed as a memorial. According to verses 6-7 and 21-24, what purpose were those stones meant to serve for future generations?
Why do you think God continually calls His people to remember what He’s done? What “stones of remembrance” could you point to in your own life - ways God has proven faithful that you don’t want to forget?
The ark of the covenant represented God’s presence going before His people. How does this scene point us forward to Jesus - God’s presence with us - who goes before us and makes a way through what seems impossible?

In verses 1–5, what do you notice about how God reassures Joshua after Moses’ death? What does this teach us about God’s faithfulness to continue His work?
God repeats the command “be strong and courageous” several times in this passage (vv. 6, 7, 9). What situations is Joshua facing that make that command so necessary? What do we learn from this about the kind of courage God calls His people to?
Verses 7–8 emphasize obeying God’s Word as central to Joshua’s success. What stands out to you about the relationship between strength, courage, and obedience here? How does meditation on God’s Word strengthen faith and courage?
In verse 9, God promises His presence wherever Joshua goes. How does that truth shape the way we face uncertainty or new challenges in our own lives today?
God promises Joshua, “I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” How does that promise find its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus’ words in Matthew 28:20, “I am with you always”? How does that shape the way we follow Him today?

In verse 3, we’re told to “consider Him.” Based on everything in verses 1–3, what specific things about Jesus’ endurance are we meant to remember, and how does that strengthen weary believers?
In what ways do you sense you've grown weary or are growing weary in life today?
Was there a particular vantage point that the Lord used to encourage you?

Grow Strong in Your Faith (Audio)

Faith like Abraham (Audio)

Abraham obeyed when God called him to go, even though he had no idea where he was headed. What does that show us about the kind of faith God calls us to? How does his story challenge our tendency to wait until everything makes sense before we take a step?
It says Abraham was “looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” What do you think that means? How does that shift the way we think about where our true home and security really are?
The passage says they “died in faith, not having received the things promised.” What do we learn from that about waiting on God? How do we hold on to hope when we don’t yet see what He’s promised come to pass?
Can you think back to a moment in your faith journey when you had to take a leap of faith—where you trusted God even though the outcome wasn’t clear? What did you learn about Him through that?
