Wow, we had great weather for photographs at this year's British Horse Feeds, Endurance GB Red Dragon Festival of Endurance. I hope you will be delighted when you receive your Endurance prints for viewing, through the post in a couple of weeks.

We have almost 1900 Endurance photographs to sort through and a large list of competitor names to enter, but we will endeavour to get your Endurance prints out to you as soon as possible.

That's Lindum over again for another year....apart from getting all the prints out.

Phew, today was a real scorcher down at the racecourse in Market Rasen. I think I may be a little sore tomorrow as the skin on my nose is tightening up from the sunburn I managed to achieve while photographing the entrants in 'The Handy Pony' ring.

It has to be said, that for us it's a really long and tiring 4 or 5 days and generally at the end of it we are working on zombie mode-autopilot.

Thank you to all of you for smiling as you went by us during our four days of photography and a big thank you to Liz Worthy for buying our canvas voucher in aid of this years charity, Macmillan Cancer Research. Thanks also go to anyone that gave a donation to the charity so they could take away our past sponsors logo pictures, that were so splendidly displayed in The Brocklesby Suite

We will endeavour to get the Handy pony, Dog show, Winners parade and Horsey fancy dress photos on our website as soon as possible. All ride photos will be sent out in the post as usual. However, they wont be going out for a couple of weeks as it is a real mammoth task sorting through, editing, printing, databasing and posting these, that it takes that long usually. Oh, and it's school holidays!

Well what a day today has been.....Kleenex Tissue dept. must have made a small fortune in Harrogate.
I cannot say enough what a wonderful school St Joe's is and how very lucky we have been to be able to send Isabel here for the last seven years.
Our warmest thanks go to all the staff, but especially to Jayne Ward who has nurtured the class for the last two years. Thanks Mrs Ward !!!! We will miss you.

Back to work tomorrow at The Lindum Spirit Festival of Endurance at Market Rasen Racecourse. It's an early start for us....about 5.30am.

If you are at Lindum, see you on course....don't forget to smile as you ride past us.

Day 1 - Lindum Spirit (Wednesday)

Arrived Wednesday afternoon to be greeted by a parade of walking wounded (Thay,Jane C & Lesley Owens). They say trouble comes in three's, so let's hope that's the end of it!

Having chosen our spot we set up camp. Luckily, the rain showers which had been forecast did not materialise but it was a little overcast at times.

We eagerly awaited the appearance of the first riders. As they passed, they showed off the new bright orange bibs bearing the name of Lindum's new main sponsors Equillibrium. It was a good turn out and we hope everyone enjoyed their evening ride. We hope the runners from the Run & Ride class don't suffer too much tomorrow.

On the way back to the venue we stopped to watch a barn owl quartering a field, I never tire of watching these beautiful birds.

The presentations went well and then we made our way back to Harrogate with the anticipation of watching our daughter Isabel and classmates doing their Year Six Leavers Assembly tomorrow. We're really sorry we can't be with you all tomorrow but I know you'll understand. Thanks go to Peter for stepping in. Hope you all have a fun day.

Another Day Over

Well, here we are on day 3 of the blog. Not much to report today, I've been out printing again, but this time for an aerial photography company.
Caroline is carefully working her way through the quite large list of Lindum riders, so that she can match up people to pictures.
I don't know whether any of you have ever wondered, but being the photographers for a ride like Lindum is quite an undertaking. The after ride workload is immense.
The initial stages involve downloading all of the pictures from each of the five days. From here they are re-mumbered using our own numbering system. Once they are numbered and before we edit or delete any images, the whole five days worth of photographs are burned to a DVD or two. This ensures that we always have a copy of all of the photos taken, just in case ....
Next, Caroline spends quite a few days editing the images, cropping, colour correcting and enhancing if needed. Her eyes get squarer by the hour. Once each days images are edited, they are broken down into 'print'folders, each containing 40 images, which makes it easier for me when I get to the print stage. After all five days are edited and divided into their print folders, they are again Burned to DVD.
Now it's off to the print shop for me, where I personally print every image that gets sent out. I'm lucky that I have access to this facility, which came about by using the connections and friendships I made in my previous Job, which was Sales and Service Engineer, for Konica Minolta Photo Imaging UK LTD......

Well, I've been sat with my Laptop all afternoon, while watching 'Live and Let Die' on the TV and I'm just about getting to grips with the new Blog. Caroline likes the Blog and as a budding writer, will hopefully be adding some interesting posts soon.

As the weather has been quite fine this afternoon here in Harrogate, Caroline has been out doing some gardening. She loves gardening, unlike me, although she struggles to find time to do it.

Welcome to our Blog.....

Hello and welcome to the very first entry in our new blog. (web log)

We have just published the Lindum 2010 Handy Pony and Dog show classes to our website, http://www.west-end-photography.co.uk/ Please take a look!. As usual, Lindum has created such a lot of images to work through and such a lot of data to be processed before we can even get to posting out any prints to you. However, Caroline is working extra hard and I've just finished printing well over 2000 prints, which will now have to be listed on our ride records, before being cut down further to the final images that we will actually send to you.

In amongst all of this, we have a busy family life to contend with as well as keeping our ten year old entertained during the summer break.

I've added a new feature to the home page of the website. You can now pay us for any photographs we have sent you in the post using your credit card, via the paypal link at the centre of the home page. If you decide to do this, please remember to let us know which images you are actually purchasing and don't forget to post any unwanted prints back to us as soon as possible. Both of these actions will help to keep Caroline up to date with what you have or haven't paid for, so it's good for both parties.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions to improve the feel and usability of the website.
