To mark the milestone, Westbus took delivery in April of the largest vehicles in its 40-year history: two new Volvo B8R MCV 98-seat double-deck coaches. The addition strengthens Westbus’ commitment to continued investment in its fleet and creates new opportunities for customers seeking to move larger groups together in one vehicle.

The milestone also reflects wider fleet improvements, with a growing number of PSVAR-compliant* coaches supporting accessibility and customer comfort. With further new vehicle deliveries planned for next year, Westbus will continue to modernise its fleet to meet evolving customer needs.

Further anniversary activity, including celebrations, will be announced later this year.

An international legacy

Westbus was originally established as the UK arm of a family-run Australian bus and coach business, before being acquired by global transport group ComfortDelGro in 2005. Since then, the business has continued to strengthen its position, providing coach hire services across the UK and Europe. Westbus supports a wide portfolio of customers including tour operators, travel agencies, corporate clients, schools and universities, underpinned by a longstanding reputation for quality, safety and reliability.

Investment-led growth

Over the years, Westbus has navigated challenging market conditions, including the global pandemic in 2020. Following the end of lockdown, the business reaffirmed its confidence in demand and placed an order of £1.3m for new, high-spec coaches.

Today, Westbus operates a modern and diverse fleet of more than 35 vehicles, including Euro VI coaches, a growing number of PSVAR-compliant vehicles, mini coaches and double-deckers. Over the past 18 months, the business has placed its largest new-vehicle order in 40 years, 17 new coaches, representing a £4.5m investment. Further new vehicle deliveries planned for next year will build on this momentum and support continued growth.
