Many would not have heard of Mana. It is the last village on Indo-Tibet border, in the state of Uttarakhand. It is also close the religious place Badrinath.

Mountain Quest drive to Mana, is a self drive road trip expedition which is open to both motorcyclist, car and SUV's. It is a 6 nights 7 days trip, which two days halt at Landsdowne/Ullar.

Route is scenic passing through jungles, mountains and rugged hill roads.

The fourth edition of Moto Dangal "Hurdle Master's Battle Of Iron Horses" a track based enduro-cross race is scheduled for 3rd March, 2019 at WM Adventure Ranch, Bagru, Jaipur Rajasthan.

This edition of Moto Dangal will have 16 race categories. Highlights of this season is introduction of Beginner (first timer) race category. This race category is open only to those who have never participated in any previous Moto Dangal.

Second highlight of this season is Outstation Class Open - this race category is only open to those living outside of Jaipur city. You will be required to show proof of the same to participate in this race category.

Third highlight of this season is Outstation participant can avail free camping tent accommodation at the arena for the night before competition.

Few new restrictions have been introduced this season. In race category up to 150cc - Hero Impulse and 2 stroke motorcycles have been restricted from participation. Hero Impulse is now placed in a separate race category. Hero Impulse is also restricted from participating in race category Above 150cc to 225cc.

2 Stroke motorcycles is now placed in a separate race category - Up to 150cc 2 Stroke.

Likewise, RE Himalayan is restricted in race category Above 225-500cc & Royal Enfield.

RE Himalayan is now placed in separate race category.

Novice Open - for entry into this race class, participant must not have attained a podium position (in any race class) of any previous Moto Dangal seasons.

There is no restriction in number of entries a participant can fill out. However, your vehicle should confirm to the restriction of the race category.

One of the busiest motorsport race track of Jaipur of Western Motorsports presents WM DIRT TRACK, a competitive motorsport event on 16th December 2018.

The WM Dirt Track is open to both male & female riders.

Jeypore Bike Riders Go On OTR

Jeypore Bike Riders (JBR), the riding group of Western Motorsports go on a weekend off the road (OTR) ride on 3 November 2018. Group of seven riders, riding 4 Impulse, 1 Tiger, 1 Himalayan & 1 Apache 200R motorcycles left Jaipur to a place which we call wild cat.

Autumn and winter are the best times in Rajasthan for outdoor adventure activities. The weather is cooler during the early mornings. This allows the riders of JBR to practice OTR and sharpen their skills.

Learning OTR riding skill is essential part of JBR. Every new member joining this riding group is required to complete certain number of rides under supervision of a senior rider. This is imperative, Rajasthan being a desert state and almost all rides organised by Western Motorsports have a dedicated section for off-roading.

Distance travelled - approx 100 km out of which 75 km was country road and highway and 25 km was dry river bed ( extreme off road )

Highlight of OTR ride

Break downs happen during OTR and this is time when riders patience and skills comes to play.

During this OTR, Tiger motorcycle's clutch plate worn out and fellow rider came to rescue. Getting the heavy bike out of the off-road stretch was a hard job.

This is a good example of riders brotherhood and bonding.

Moto Dangal,an enduro-cross track race is a much awaited motor sport event of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Moto Dangal termed as the Hurdle Master’s Battle of Iron Horses, does live up to this title. Season 3 of Moto Dangal tested the motorcycle riding skills of racers to its core. It was as tough, as it was meant to be. With every season passing by Moto Dangal has metamorphosed to throw more challenges and open more categories of races like Novice class and Dangal Kesari (Champion of the Moto Dangal Season) and seen increased overall participation across categories including women race categories. Season 4 will have more categories being introduced, RE Himalayan and Outstation class are 2 of them. Pre-winter and Final season of Moto Dangal for 2018 will be open for registration soon.

Himalayan Backlands Rally

January 21-25, 2019, mark your calendar and gear up for Himalayan Backlands Rally. (HBR).

HBR is based on TSD format. It is a rally, no special modifications needed, it is run on public roads within legal speed limit, route is a surprise, car with least penalties over a distnce wins, and you need a navigator with a calculator.

What is TSD car rally?

For those not initiated into motorsports, the word 'car rally' means expensive modifications, racing at high speeds and spectacular overtaking eventuating into a win.

TSD car rally however does not depend on the capabilities of driver at high speed, nor does it depend on how fast your car can go. Ordinary street legal car can be used in TSD rally. Also for this reason this format of rally is far less expensive and one that can be enjoyed by majority of people. TSD car rally focuses on maintenance of precise average speed and time. Your co-driver i.e. navigator place the vital role in navigating and calculating the precise time as much as it is important for you to know driving a car.

TSD is known as time-speed-distance rally. The objective of this motorsport rally is driving each segment within a specific time and average speed.

Where will Himalayan Backlands Rally (HBR) be conducted?

HBR will be conducted in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand between 21-25th January 2019. HBR is a multi-day TSD format rally. It will be conducted on hilly region - public roads with bits of off-road track sections. All speed limits will be within the limits prescribed in this region.

Individual or team for HBR?

TSD rally requires a driver & co-driver i.e. navigator. This pair forms a team. It is suggested that both members of team know to drive, though it is not essential. It is expected that your navigator is good at calculations and directions.

On each day of the event teams will be briefed and will be given a route schedule. This will contain information useful for navigator - such as route, distance etc.

Prizes will be given for the winning team based on the points acquired.

Jeypore Bike Riders OTR At Chaparwara Dam

Summer is gone and monsoon has made the Aravalli range green, weather has cleared up and its time for Jeypore Bike Riders to ride out for an Off The Road (OTR).

On 25th August 2018, lead by Mr. Naval Sharma (@navalsharmajpr) nine Jeypore Bike Riders kick started their ride to Chaparwara dam in Dudu district of Rajasthan from Jaipur.

Chaparwara dam is situated around 75 kms from Jaipur. It is an earthen dam built over a local river Banas in the Ganga basin and has been in operation since 1894, with the main purpose to irrigation.

The area around this dam is an excellent practice zone for OTR. JBR rides left Jaipur by 05:30 AM with an aim to practice OTR on soft ground, gradient and slush. With guidance from experienced senior riders all JBR riders had learn't the fine points of riding.

The OTR ride ended at 10 AM with all riders returning to Jaipur safely.

Royal Enfield Motorcycles Competing in Moto Dangal Season 3

The demands that Moto Dangal's enduro-cross puts on a motorcycle is severe. A standard heavy street motorcycle participating in this track race is laudable. A lot goes to say on the confidence and skill of the rider.

Enduro-cross is the most rewarding and challenging type of event you can race. Moto Dangal has time and again proved wrong that heavier bikes can't complete the course. With every season we have seen an increase in number of heavy bikes participating in higher CC class.

Most riding higher CC class bikes are contented in what they do, some however push and test the capabilities. If you are racing a higher CC motorcycle, these have higher inertia and weight, this makes them keep going forward. When these bike are in the right direction and technique is correct, you will be saddled. But when you need to change direction quickly or jump over an obstacle or brake suddenly, the bike will want to keep moving straight, that's where the strength of the rider comes to play.

It is not just the strength, you need endurance strength to compete in a enduro-cross like Moto Dangal. Best of the riders competing with higher CC bikes build this endurance strength and are able to cross the hurdles repeatedly.

A Road Trip With Many Tales - Tour de Thar 2018

A road trip is a visible expression of freedom.

Travel is all about dreams you being there amongst landscapes, towns and people.

Traversing backroads is a rich example of the journey as the destination.

Peregrinating the golden sands of Thar, my idea was not to linger anywhere, but to keep on moving. Creating a panning shot of the desert in my mind. Each day and days after the first, was to set off after morning tea and breakfast, going as far as possible and then find a place to rest for the night by pitching a tent with bonfire.

Thar desert landscape is so stark and dramatic. In the brooding expanse you would find a withered shrub or a cactuses or a crossroad with black topped roads enveloped with sand dunes on either side and lead nowhere. You are so tempted to deviate from the route and find the answer to the road leading nowhere. Thar desert is not an illusion of emptiness but an assertive power of exclusion. This power of exclusion forces you to find your inner self. Go deep down and flick that reset button. Perhaps is what a traversing backroads trip is all about.

But there are moments which go against your "not to linger nature of the road trip.” Those are the moments when you are crossing a remote town. Flooded on both sides of your vehicle are people attired in bright colours. Women especially in collage of colours. Men match this duel of colours with turbans and matching moustache. Is this the spirit of humans? Making a brooding stark expanse colourful. That’s the moment of halt where this picture was pictured.

A tiny shop in a remote village, with its wares on display. Local nomadic musician couple were there probably to replenish their stock. The walls of this tiny shop decorated with foreign languages. The signage and display is like a cinema set from classic western movie. I was so lost pondering that I became a magnet for curious stares.

That’s the assertive power of exclusion of Thar. It just casts a spell on you.

Moto Dangal Season 3 - Results All Classes Of Race

The season 3 of Moto Dangal was a day filled with excitement and victories, with as much as 80 registered competitors.

The endurocross track event kicked off with Women Scooter class of race and ended the day with Bugg & Quad class of race.

This season saw lot of interest in Novice class of race and stiff competition to win the title of Dangal Kesari.
