When I first met him, I knew we would be fabulous friends. We spent so much time laying out, being "catty" and loving it. He was so kind and so funny and I am heartbroken that I didn't know. Even though I suspected he might not be well when I saw him last sometime around 2004/05. We had lost contact for a while after I moved out of CH until I ran into him in a pharmacy. I was so happy to have found him! I feel so bad! My heart is broken tonight and I know that seems ridiculous, but I have been looking for him on facebook, etc and only thought to look on google tonight. Thank you for posting this memorial. What each gay person must do is 'lobby' all of their friends, relatives, and colleagues to help us out at the ballot box. Write letters as often as possible to your City, State and Federal legislators imploring them to get onboard with legalizing marriage in Calif. Politicians understand what happens on election day, and the volume of mail they get on any given subject. Every gay person must be a registered voter and vote on every issue, not just gay issues. We have enough potential voters to sway any election but as a group we do not exercise that power. Sign your letters "Registered Voter" under your signature. You basically take your chances with dance promotions and your only recourse usually if a promotion doesn't give what it promises is to not go to that promotion again. I know it sucks but it's the promoter's choice. If it were up to me, even if there are only two people in a club at 2 am and it's advertised to go until 4, it would go until 4. I prefer to go to clubs late (by L.A. standards) and in the past I bought advance tickets for events that promise say 7 am closing times. And I've gotten there at 4:30 to find the place either closing or already closed. Write your legislator!!!!

Last Comment posted by B.K. on 4/23/2009:

It may seem pointless but writing these letters of support for gay marriage does help. And there are ways you can get others into it--it doesn't have to be a drag or some drawn out speech on paper. After the Iowa decision I decided to ask people over on a Sunday afternoon and I came up with a few different form letters on my computer. All my friends had to do to RSVP was to get their representative's contact info. So I printed out the form letters and I had about 15 friends put in the names, addresses and their signiature as voters. Then we had some drinks and went out! Try it, it will make you feel good knowing you at least did what you could.

What are your favorite sex clubs and your least favorite. Many of them live in trailerpark communities. It's about the "ownership" thing. More out in the boondocks type of dwellings and usually partnered. Lesbians are "nesters" by nature.

Women in general are 'nesters' by nature. Men tend to tinker around a bit more. Women do not play in the bushes, no pun intended, like men play in Griffith Park. The girl bar events are not as prevalent as mens events.

think there is one "every day of the week" womens bar in WeHo. Although there are womens events 'from time to time' when they 'plan' to go to a venue. i.e. Dinah Shore weekend in Palm Springs is a GIANT womens event. Some people actually have it written that one takes cares of another.

However, discrimination is rampant, now and forever, within the gay community. Fact of the matter is, we do not care about one another in reality. We only care if we can get in your pants and bonk your brains out! IF we actually find someone, and actually get into a relationship, and soon get bored, we want to 'open' the relationship. If we find someone within our exacting parameters, age, race, body type, pee pee size, et al, then we are happy for a short while.

I know an older guy in Mississippi that had a live in 'boi' he moved in at 18 and several years later the 'boi' was put out to the curb as no longer young enough for Daddy. The young boy was not allowed to work, or go to school, or in any way better his life. He was at the beck and call of the man with the bucks, who paid for 100% of the young one's wants needs, desires and expectations. And Daddy got what he wanted, no matter how perverted it was! Now the not so young one, uneducated, no longer as young, no longer as pretty, is without any skills to face life on his own. He was perfectly happy to spend Daddy's money, drive expensive cars, live the high life, without realizing that Daddy would dump him! Now he cannot even get a date with someone his own age! Now is 10 or 15 years older, and not so cute anymore. He was not even bright enough to realize he really should be spending Daddy's money in a gym membership, or getting an education or working SOMEWHERE to have some way to earn a living. We sometimes go into relationships with our eyes wide shut! Both persons must carry their own weight, no matter if you are both 18 or 38 58 68 etc or one is financially more secure than the other. There is no free lunch! Gay "hook up" sites, [is that the most disgusting phrase ever!] ... sites are rampant for masseurs, right! or escorts, or whatever word wants to put on their pay for fun services. No matter how you put it, or what you call it, it is prostitution! Am I saying do not date someone because they do or do not have money, absolutely not! BUT love the person, not the money!

I know another guy who actually adopted his much younger lover and put the lover on all documentation, houses, cars, life insurance etc. then the younger one promptly filed eviction on the Gentleman! and got it! Now the one that had all the financial stability is almost bankrupt and the adopted son/lover is living in high cotton! Get married??? Hmmmm? Adoption? Hmmm? Yes, my dears, all sorts of 'discrimination' is indeed rampant. Do we have the right to discriminate? Absolutely YES!

But have the common sense to make sure you think with the head on your shoulders instead of the other one in your panties! Want to make your relationship "legal"? Find a great lawyer and form a LLP or LLC and make each person equally liable! Ageism, Sexism, Racism, whatever 'ism' certainly applies to the gay community. We are NOT the accepting love everybody liberals that we purport to be! We discriminate against one another more than the straight world could ever do to us!

We are not amenable to hiring one another,
we do not even like one another,
we do not have respect for one another. How on earth can we expect the straight world to every accept us as equals. BTW what college offers the course "Straight Acting"? That one really boggles my mind! Why do we hate one another so much?

Why do we discriminate against someone because of their age? or another character trait? WHY indeed! Because we are basically looking for the proverbial "Mr. Right" but not willing to do what it takes to really find him! or just as important, to keep him, be true to him. We prefer to mess around on the side. BTW the aforementioned boy that got adopted, is now dying of AIDS, and has not even had the decency to make his former partner, in fact adopted Dad, his beneficiary!

So boys! THINK about your actions! Be a good person! OK you can still have your 'preferences' but at least be polite when you turn someone down! [Obviously if they get rude and push too hard, you can be rude right back! BUT! be careful, they may have a short fuse!] Is it so challenging to be nice? Just because someone is older than you, or has a different body type than you prefer, or has red hair, or purple hair or whatever trait you do not care for does not give you the right to be be mean to them.

Browsing the pics on this site, it becomes quite clear 2 me why the world finds it difficult 2 respect us. Gay & Lesbian Center Chief of Staff Darrel Cummings issued the following statement:

“If President-elect Obama’s selection of Rick Warren to give his inaugural invocation is intended to send a message to America that he will be an inclusive leader, then he has clearly made a decision that the exclusion of the LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] community is acceptable.

Inclusion is generally a term referencing the involvement of those who have been historically underrepresented, the subject of historic discrimination, or unrecognized altogether. The inclusion of people with disabilities in public policy decision-making related to housing and building codes, for example, is vital and a relatively new trend. This kind of action not only sends an important symbolic message to people with disabilities and to the larger community, it contributes to better policy.

Mega-church multi- media stars and religious “leaders” like Rick Warren have been overrepresented in government decision making for many years and have brought their narrow, exclusionary brand of theology into the oval office, Congress and the Supreme Court. They amass great wealth, own powerful financial empires, and preach division on the public airways. Yes, they and their followers are part of America—a relatively large part—but they are redundant as messengers of inclusion since they have always had influence over government, especially since 1980.

The unfortunate consequence of this “big tent” approach is that Obama is not really sending a message of inclusion, at least not the kind that invites into the tent those who have been historically and intentionally locked out for so long. Instead, on the first day of his presidency, he plans to send a very clear message that LGBT people are only welcome if we are agreeable to our own oppression, as represented by his choice of spiritual leader on inauguration day.

Obama’s response to press inquiries on the subject rings hollow. He talks about others like Southern Christian Leadership Conference President Joseph Lowery who will share the spotlight and bring alternative views to the stage, as though it’s important to have “balanced” representation regarding the issue of our civil rights. Joseph Lowery does not represent an alternative viewpoint to Warren. He represents an ethical and just choice on behalf of people historically oppressed and left off the presidential stage. Is it important to “balance” the work of a person who has spent his life fighting racial bigotry and discrimination with someone who opposes those ideals? Are these the politics of hope we have heard so much about?

Continuing his defense, Obama spoke eloquently about his campaign’s support for full equality for lesbians and gay men as an indication of how he will govern. Unfortunately, he did not and does not now stand for our full equality since he has made it clear that he opposes marriage equality. In this regard, he walks in lock step with Warren, even though Obama opposed the passage of Prop 8.

Warren played an important role in helping to re-write the California constitution to eliminate our rights. So now it is clear. If President-elect Obama does not disinvite Rick Warren, then he is defining what inclusion in America will mean under his administration. It will mean that the practice of bigotry is acceptable, and that as president—in the name of “inclusion”—he will provide a place and platform for that bigotry to be expressed and grow. Apparently we are welcome into the big tent of hope, but if we choose to enter, we should do so knowing we are in hostile, yet “balanced” territory.”

Voice your Opinion.

Open Relationships. Do they work? I am thinking about opening mine, but don't know how to bring this up. Can someone living this give me pros, cons and advice?

Last Comment posted by Ron on 12/22/2008:

I came across this website, after moving out to Arizona about a year ago from Los Angeles and never have been more in thought. My bf and I will be reaching our 5th yr anniversary in two weeks, we are monogamous and had a coversation early on that we would stay that way, get married, have kids, the whole nine yards.

Also, early on he cheated, then I cheated, then we began cheating on each other, not getting caught but at the same time never talked about it. I just had to stop and think "what is wrong with this picture?" This was obviously contradicting from every meaning of a monogamous relationship. I started asking myself if I was truly happy seeing other guys while I continued to be with my boyfiend and I also don't know what made me realize this until I moved out to Arizona a year ago and our relationship officially became long distance.

This story is getting long and away from the point, Sorry. My point is every other post says the same thing that I agree with, both guys have to be okay with it, one can't pretend to be lied to and cheated when he (me) was cheating as well and just never got caught. Anyways, we finally had the serious conversation, we understand that with our situation me being in AZ (work) and him in CA (school) we will both be happier seeing other guys.

The struggle I am currently having is that I am "okay" with it and it shouldn't be that way. I hope I have the courage to just end it or live an open relationship with no judgments against my bf.

It isn't easy, men are just sexual creatures, there is the few number of men who can truly live a monogamous life which I respect, obviously I am just not that type of guy. I will be happy with who I am and be with who accepts me for me, I guess that is my point.

Proposition 8

Last Comment posted by JR West Hollywood on 12/19/2008:

Calif. AG urges court to void gay marriage ban.

SAN FRANCISCO - The California attorney general has changed his position on the state's new same-sex marriage ban and is now urging the state Supreme Court to void Proposition 8.

In a dramatic reversal, Attorney General Jerry Brown filed a legal brief saying the measure that amended the California Constitution to limit marriage to a man and a woman is itself unconstitutional because it deprives a minority group of a fundamental right. Earlier, Brown had said he would defend the ballot measure against legal challenges from gay marriage supporters.

But Brown said he reached a different conclusion "upon further reflection and a deeper probing into all the aspects of our Constitution.

"It became evident that the Article 1 provision guaranteeing basic liberty, which includes the right to marry, took precedence over the initiative," he said in an interview Friday night. "Based on my duty to defend the law and the entire Constitution, I concluded the court should protect the right to marry even in the face of the 52 percent vote."

Brown, who served as governor from 1975 to 1983, is considering seeking the office again in 2010. After California voters passed Proposition 8 on Nov. 4, Brown said he personally voted against it but would fight to uphold it as the state's top lawyer.

He submitted his brief in one of the three legal challenges to Proposition 8 brought by same-sex marriage supporters. The measure, a constitutional amendment that passed with 52 percent of the vote, overruled the state Supreme Court decision last spring that briefly legalized gay marriage in the nation's most populous state.

Shannon Minter, legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, called the attorney general's change of strategy "a major development."

"The fact that after looking at this he shifted his position and is really bucking convention by not defending Prop. 8 signals very clearly that this proposition can not be defended," Minter said.

The sponsors of Proposition 8 argued for the first time Friday that the court should undo the marriages of the estimated 18,000 same-sex couples who exchanged vows before voters banned gay marriage at the ballot box last month.

The Yes on 8 campaign filed a brief telling the court that because the new law holds that only marriages between a man and a woman are recognized or valid in California, the state can no longer recognize the existing same-sex unions.

"Proposition 8's brevity is matched by its clarity. There are no conditional clauses, exceptions, exemptions or exclusions," reads the brief co-written by Kenneth Starr, dean of Pepperdine University's law school and a former independent counsel who investigated President Bill Clinton.

Both Brown and gay rights groups maintain that the gay marriage ban may not be applied retroactively.

Starr's co-counsel Andrew Pugno said Brown's decision to challenge the voter-approved measure and the argument advanced by the attorney general was "totally unprecedented."

"His legal duty as attorney general of the state is to defend initiatives passed by the voters," he said.

The state Supreme Court could hear arguments in the litigation in March. The measure's backers announced Friday that Starr had signed on as their lead counsel and would argue the cases.

Continue to write letters to State officials and we will continue to win people over!

Letters to State Legislature members by the thousands!

In a democracy we vote. That is the bottom line. The Supreme Court of California ruled, and then it was put to a vote of the people. All people. Gay people did not get out the vote and therefore the non gay people won! Exactly whose fault is that? Hmmm? I know many gay people that are not registered voters, and many that do not bother to vote even if they are registered! "We" have not one to blame but ourselves! Out f State money, i.e. "The Mormon Church" controlled the financing to beat Prop 8, but "we" the registered voters now have the opportunity to convince our State Legislature to NOT approve an amendment to the State Constitution. It is not a "done deal" because the measure was voted "Yes". The State Legislature now has to write the amendment, and vote on it. Mormon money cannot convince them how to vote, only active Registered Voters can sway them! Write them letters. Send them emails. Something physical and tangible. Phone calls help, but phone calls can be ignored, or "not counted", but letters and postcards and emails cannot be ignored. Find YOUR State Legislature persons and flood their mailbox full of your concerns. The most Pro Active people will win! Their are more homosexuals in Calif. than their are Mormons! YOU can make a difference! Protesting in the streets simply does not change the minds of the State Legislature members, LETTERS show them who the voters are and what we want! Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger terms out soon, and we need to get a Democrat in the State House to support us. Register to vote, and vote in every election and on every measure! No matter if you feel it is silly or not. YES! indeed it is a serious challenge, but there are tons of resources to help us, many are free i.e. Log Cabin on Robertson Blvd.

Think about the hundreds of dollars you are stuffing up your nose or drinking and convert that same amount of money into helping yourself to get off drugs and alcohol abuse. Being loyal to each other is the absolute bedrock of a lasting relationship. The online ads are riddled with offers for three ways, or 'my BF is out of town and I want to play' etc. THAT is why gay relationships fail! Many/Most gay men are 'bitch dogs in heat' and will drop their pants in a nanosecond! Even the "DL" "straight" guys looking for gay love on the side are bitch dogs! We have to face up to the fact we live in a AMORAL society. Honesty, Integrity, Loyalty, et al are just not part of the 'norm'. A hard c*ock has no conscious!
