You basically take your chances with dance promotions and your only recourse usually if a promotion doesn't give what it promises is to not go to that promotion again. I know it sucks but it's the promoter's choice. If it were up to me, even if there are only two people in a club at 2 am and it's advertised to go until 4, it would go until 4. I prefer to go to clubs late (by L.A. standards) and in the past I bought advance tickets for events that promise say 7 am closing times. And I've gotten there at 4:30 to find the place either closing or already closed. Nothing you can do, except try to pay attention to who is promoting.

We sometimes go into relationships with our eyes wide shut! Both persons must carry their own weight, no matter if you are both 18 or 38 58 68 etc or one is financially more secure than the other. There is no free lunch! Gay "hook up" sites, [is that the most disgusting phrase ever!] ... sites are rampant for masseurs, right! or escorts, or whatever word wants to put on their pay for fun services. No matter how you put it, or what you call it, it is prostitution! Am I saying do not date someone because they do or do not have money, absolutely not! BUT love the person, not the money!

I know another guy who actually adopted his much younger lover and put the lover on all documentation, houses, cars, life insurance etc. then the younger one promptly filed eviction on the Gentleman! and got it! Now the one that had all the financial stability is almost bankrupt and the adopted son/lover is living in high cotton! Get married??? Hmmmm? Adoption? Hmmm? Yes, my dears, all sorts of 'discrimination' is indeed rampant. Do we have the right to discriminate? Absolutely YES!

But have the common sense to make sure you think with the head on your shoulders instead of the other one in your panties! Want to make your relationship "legal"? Find a great lawyer and form a LLP or LLC and make each person equally liable! Ageism, Sexism, Racism, whatever 'ism' certainly applies to the gay community. We are NOT the accepting love everybody liberals that we purport to be! We discriminate against one another more than the straight world could ever do to us!

We are not amenable to hiring one another,
we do not even like one another,
we do not have respect for one another. How on earth can we expect the straight world to every accept us as equals. BTW what college offers the course "Straight Acting"? That one really boggles my mind! Why do we hate one another so much?

Why do we discriminate against someone because of their age? or another character trait? WHY indeed! Because we are basically looking for the proverbial "Mr. Right" but not willing to do what it takes to really find him! or just as important, to keep him, be true to him. We prefer to mess around on the side. BTW the aforementioned boy that got adopted, is now dying of AIDS, and has not even had the decency to make his former partner, in fact adopted Dad, his beneficiary!

So boys! THINK about your actions! Be a good person! OK you can still have your 'preferences' but at least be polite when you turn someone down! [Obviously if they get rude and push too hard, you can be rude right back! BUT! be careful, they may have a short fuse!] Is it so challenging to be nice? Just because someone is older than you, or has a different body type than you prefer, or has red hair, or purple hair or whatever trait you do not care for does not give you the right to be be mean to them.

Browsing the pics on this site, it becomes quite clear 2 me why the world finds it difficult 2 respect us. What R we really about? Do we deserve equality? The world needs 2 see us as more than naked,racist,oversexed, freaks. Helping or hindering?

“If President-elect Obama’s selection of Rick Warren to give his inaugural invocation is intended to send a message to America that he will be an inclusive leader, then he has clearly made a decision that the exclusion of the LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] community is acceptable.

Inclusion is generally a term referencing the involvement of those who have been historically underrepresented, the subject of historic discrimination, or unrecognized altogether. The inclusion of people with disabilities in public policy decision-making related to housing and building codes, for example, is vital and a relatively new trend. This kind of action not only sends an important symbolic message to people with disabilities and to the larger community, it contributes to better policy.

Mega-church multi- media stars and religious “leaders” like Rick Warren have been overrepresented in government decision making for many years and have brought their narrow, exclusionary brand of theology into the oval office, Congress and the Supreme Court. They amass great wealth, own powerful financial empires, and preach division on the public airways. Yes, they and their followers are part of America—a relatively large part—but they are redundant as messengers of inclusion since they have always had influence over government, especially since 1980.

The unfortunate consequence of this “big tent” approach is that Obama is not really sending a message of inclusion, at least not the kind that invites into the tent those who have been historically and intentionally locked out for so long. Instead, on the first day of his presidency, he plans to send a very clear message that LGBT people are only welcome if we are agreeable to our own oppression, as represented by his choice of spiritual leader on inauguration day.

Obama’s response to press inquiries on the subject rings hollow. He talks about others like Southern Christian Leadership Conference President Joseph Lowery who will share the spotlight and bring alternative views to the stage, as though it’s important to have “balanced” representation regarding the issue of our civil rights. Joseph Lowery does not represent an alternative viewpoint to Warren. He represents an ethical and just choice on behalf of people historically oppressed and left off the presidential stage. Is it important to “balance” the work of a person who has spent his life fighting racial bigotry and discrimination with someone who opposes those ideals? Are these the politics of hope we have heard so much about?

Continuing his defense, Obama spoke eloquently about his campaign’s support for full equality for lesbians and gay men as an indication of how he will govern. Unfortunately, he did not and does not now stand for our full equality since he has made it clear that he opposes marriage equality. In this regard, he walks in lock step with Warren, even though Obama opposed the passage of Prop 8.

Warren played an important role in helping to re-write the California constitution to eliminate our rights. So now it is clear. If President-elect Obama does not disinvite Rick Warren, then he is defining what inclusion in America will mean under his administration. It will mean that the practice of bigotry is acceptable, and that as president—in the name of “inclusion”—he will provide a place and platform for that bigotry to be expressed and grow. Apparently we are welcome into the big tent of hope, but if we choose to enter, we should do so knowing we are in hostile, yet “balanced” territory.”

Anyways, we finally had the serious conversation, we understand that with our situation me being in AZ (work) and him in CA (school) we will both be happier seeing other guys.

The struggle I am currently having is that I am "okay" with it and it shouldn't be that way. I hope I have the courage to just end it or live an open relationship with no judgments against my bf.

It isn't easy, men are just sexual creatures, there is the few number of men who can truly live a monogamous life which I respect, obviously I am just not that type of guy. I will be happy with who I am and be with who accepts me for me, I guess that is my point.

He submitted his brief in one of the three legal challenges to Proposition 8 brought by same-sex marriage supporters. The measure, a constitutional amendment that passed with 52 percent of the vote, overruled the state Supreme Court decision last spring that briefly legalized gay marriage in the nation's most populous state.

Shannon Minter, legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, called the attorney general's change of strategy "a major development."

"The fact that after looking at this he shifted his position and is really bucking convention by not defending Prop. 8 signals very clearly that this proposition can not be defended," Minter said.

The sponsors of Proposition 8 argued for the first time Friday that the court should undo the marriages of the estimated 18,000 same-sex couples who exchanged vows before voters banned gay marriage at the ballot box last month.

The Yes on 8 campaign filed a brief telling the court that because the new law holds that only marriages between a man and a woman are recognized or valid in California, the state can no longer recognize the existing same-sex unions.

"Proposition 8's brevity is matched by its clarity. There are no conditional clauses, exceptions, exemptions or exclusions," reads the brief co-written by Kenneth Starr, dean of Pepperdine University's law school and a former independent counsel who investigated President Bill Clinton.

Both Brown and gay rights groups maintain that the gay marriage ban may not be applied retroactively.

Starr's co-counsel Andrew Pugno said Brown's decision to challenge the voter-approved measure and the argument advanced by the attorney general was "totally unprecedented."

"His legal duty as attorney general of the state is to defend initiatives passed by the voters," he said.

The state Supreme Court could hear arguments in the litigation in March. The measure's backers announced Friday that Starr had signed on as their lead counsel and would argue the cases.

Out of state money or organizations such as the Mormon Church have no power when it comes to registered voters that live in Ca. Write Write Write. As often as you can say something new for the consideration of the State Legislators. Write their local offices in every District in the State, Write their Sacramento offices. Your letter WILL make a difference, but you must show your local voting address is California! Encourage your friends and relatives that agree with your position to write. Write the letter for them and have them sign it!
If you want the right to marry, fight for it where it counts! The State Legislature! And of course copy your local elected representatives! A City Council person today, is your State Representative in the future! Write to County Supervisor. Write letters to every ELECTED official! They realize that politically active people is how they keep their jobs!
