        <title>The usefulness of science journalists in Africa: weather forecasting in Cameroon</title>

        <description>In March 2012, Cameroonian science journalist Adrienne Engono explained in her newspaper how the absence of weather forecasting was threatening the crops of farmers. Today, weather forecasting is re-established in Cameroon. 

Divine Junior Ntaryike, a colleague journalist, has produced a short video that captures how Ms. Engono’s journalism made a difference for African farmers. </description>

Congratulations to both Kenyan associations, the Kenya Science Journalists Association (KENSJA) and Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (MESHA); to the Korea Science Reporters Association (KSRA); and the South African Science Journalists’ Association (SASJA) for taking on the challenge!

        <description>Curtis Brainard of the US National Association of Science Writers has been elected to the Executive Board of the World Federation of Science Journalists. Mr Brainard emerged from a strong field with a clear majority, winning 46.3 per cent of the votes. Nearly all of the national associations eligible to vote participated in the election (41 out of 42).</description>

        <title>WFSJ 2013 Elections round one winners</title>

        <description>Dominique Forget has been elected as the Canadian representative to the Executive Board of the World Federation of Science Journalists following the first round of voting. In the international group Mr.Curtis Brainard (NASW – United States), Mr.Emeka Anuforo (NASJ – Nigeria), Ms. Yukiko Motomura (JASTJ – Japan) and Mr.Hajo Neubert (TELI – Germany) have secured the highest number of votes for the second board position and will go through to the second round of elections, which will take place from May 15 to May 22. The result of that election will be announced on May 23.</description>

        <title>SjCOOP is coming to Asia</title>

        <description>The World Federation of Science Journalists launched, today, its SjCOOP Asia project. “I hope this project will connect Asia to the activities of the World Federation”, said Ms. Yoon Kim, who will manage the project for the Federation. The mentoring program SjCOOP (Science Journalism Cooperation) twins experienced science journalists (mentors) with early-career journalists (mentees). There will be three groups of mentees: a Vietnamese-speaking group, a Bahasa Indonesian-speaking group, and an English-speaking group.</description>
