Jena 6, in 2013

2013-04-22T19:21:00.000-07:00

Remember the Jena 6?

Robert Bailey, then aged 17; Mychal Bell, then 16; Carwin Jones, then 18; Bryant Purvis, then 17; Jesse Ray Beard, then 14; and Theo Shaw, then 17 were arrested and charged with attempted murder in 2006 after a fight that left a white classmate badly beaten; after nooses were hung from a tree that was deemed "White Only" tree. The case sparked outrage and protest all over the Country. Thousands of chanting demonstrators filled the streets of Lasalle Parrish, led by figures such as the Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. At the time, Jena (JEE'-nuh) was left to fend off accusations of racism in the justice system – no one was charged for hanging the nooses, and protesters derided the attempted murder charges as excessive. The charges were later reduced.

Seven years later what are the Jena 6 boys up to? Many would think that they are probably thugs, criminals or some other Black abominations to society, but I am glad to report that these young BLACK men are doing Extremely well!

According to Huffington Post:

Jesse Ray Beard has since gone on to Hofstra, where he earned an academic scholarship, is pursuing legal studies and business, and plays on the lacrosse team. He plans to go to grad school on the west coast and eventually work as a sports agent.

Robert Bailey Jr., who graduated from high school in Georgia, plays wide receiver at Grambling and is a member of the ROTC. After he graduates in 2013, he hopes to pursue a military career.
"Because of what happened, I grew up. I learned things too, like doing things the right way," Bailey said.

Mychal Bell, who was 16 at the time, was the only defendant to go to trial. He was convicted, but that decision was set aside. He ultimately pleaded guilty to a second-degree battery charge and received an 18-month sentence. The other five accepted a plea deal that gave them seven days probation, a $500 fine and court costs.
Bell, a highly recruited football player before the beating, is a cornerback on Southern University's team. His attorney said it was best if he wasn't interviewed.
"Every time there's something in the press about him, he gets a lot of hate mail," said Bell's attorney, Louis Scott.

Theo Shaw, 21, is now studying political science and history at University of Louisiana at Monroe and plans to go to law school. He has done several internships in the field, he said, including one with the Innocence Project, a national nonprofit that works to free wrongfully convicted prisoners. His time in jail sparked his interest in law – he said he spent a lot of time reading up on the subject so he could file court papers.
"I do think it was a situation that helped me to develop character and be a better person," Shaw said. "But beyond that, I don't think of it much anymore."

Bryant Purvis is enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana. Carwin Jones did not return calls left with his father for comment.

The victim, Justin Barker, is the only one who still lives in Jena. Now 22, he's an inconspicuous young man: thin, with soft brown hair and large eyes, a Southerner raised to say "Yes, ma'am" and "Yes, sir" and stay quiet around strangers. So he's always surprised when someone asks if he's "that" Justin Barker, he told The Associated Press in his first media interview since the beating.
"That's the only time that whole thing comes up," Barker said, sitting in the dining area of his tidy new trailer. These days he works on an oil rig in Texas – seven days on, seven off – and helps his father cut timber when he's home. He recently divorced the woman who was his girlfriend when he was beaten.

Well, I guess I'll stop running from you guys now. I have sooo much to say I don't even know where to start. There is so much going on in the world! So much has changed in my life. First and foremost I would like to start by taking a moment to remember all of the innocent lives that have been lost in this World due to random acts of violence, racism and discrimination. Healing vibes to those hurt in Boston. Healing vibes to those hurt in War. Healing vibes to those suffering from disease and healing vibes to those who have battled these streets. In my life at this moment. Peace is the most important thing. As you know on this blog is a place where I discuss intimate things about myself as well as my opinions on current issues. SO much has happened and I haven't had time to blog about it. If you're following me on Facebook then you know that I have posted my thoughts and feelings about many things going on. I will be blogging a little more, just to update you guys on what is going on with myself. Until then, Peace and blessings.

Evelyn Lozada (Johnson) files for divorce

So following a domestic violence incident 3 days ago between Chad Johnson (formerly OchoCinco) and his wife of 40 days Evelyn Lozada she has now filed for divorce earlier today. The news broke about the domestic violence incident which left Evelyn with a head laceration due to an alleged "Head Butt" and Chad arrested (now out on $2,000. bail).

According to Vibe.com issues arose when Lozada confronted Chad about a receipt for 'Condoms' that she had found in the car. The argument got heated when she confronted him and then head butted her an ran off. New details are now surfacing as the 911 call has been released and Chads rep has confirmed that she has filed for divorce.

Johnson was also cut from the Dolphins and their VH1 show together that was suppose to air in Sept has been cancelled. Damn!

Celebs have already taken to twitter speaking out about the incident including Lozada's EX BFF's husband @EricWilliams, who has the #hastag #KNOT trending now as he has made fun of the situation.

Click here to see Erics Tweets to @EvelynLozada

@JenniferWilliams has remained silent about the situation only tweeting subliminally that she was "Sending my love....Praying for you" on the day of the incident. We can only assume that was towards Lozada, since no one knows the statues of their relationship since the B-Ball Wives reunion.

Evelyn Lozada made a statement earlier saying that "Domestic violence is NOT OK".

All I have to say is this...for the same woman who jumps on tables, bullies another woman, and promotes fights on her own TV show to say that domestic violence is NOT OK, is NOT OK.

Prayers out to Evelyn and Chad, hopefully they get their lives together and Evelyn recognizes that KARMA exist...what you put in the Universe indeed will return!

Peace.

Also Condolences, Evelyns brother in law passed away...smh when it RAINS it POURS.

Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson's mother is missing?

2012-07-22T15:34:00.000-07:00

(Huffington Post report)

Katherine Jackson, the mother of the pop superstars Michael and Janet Jackson, was reported missing to authorities on Saturday night, according to reports.
According to CNN, Jackson's lawyer believed she had been traveling with Rebbie Jackson, her daughter. "I'm concerned that she's not safe," Sandra Ribera, the lawyer, said. Jackson is 82.
A police spokesman said that the missing persons report was filed by Trent Jackson, Katherine's nephew. "The report will be referred to the Homicide/Missing Persons Unit, and they will be handling the investigation," Lt. Josh Thai told RadarOnline.
Michael's three children have lived with Katherine since their father's death in 2009, Ribera said. Ribera added that Katherine had not contacted the grandchildren in a week.
Early Sunday morning, Paris Jackson, Michael's 14-year-old daughter, said the same on Twitter, and asked for the public's help in finding her grandmother.

Frank Ocean's Confession, Thank you Frank.

2012-07-04T12:23:00.001-07:00

Earlier yesterday there was a buzz going around the internet world of Frank Ocean being 'Gay', these so called rumors were 'confirmed' when he posted an open letter on his tumblr page about his summer love with another guy. The letter described him spending summers with a guy, his first love, coming to terms with that reality and dealing with it. His guy also had a girlfriend whom Frank met.

This is not a post to talk about how this will this affect his career, or to draw attention to the 'Down low' syndrome, Hips Hop's or entertainment gays, but to talk about the struggle with bi-sexuality. But ultimately the struggle with self.

I, myself, have dealt with this for years and still deal with it in some ways. I struggled with my attraction to other women, my love for a woman, as well as my own feelings of "wrongness". Unlike Frank the beginning of my story is a little different.

My first sexual experiences were with girls at a very young age and at the time it wasn't about what was wrong, but what felt good. For as long as I can remember I admired different features on women and still do, lips, eyes, face, body, etc. I'm a lover of the human body, but it's something about a beautiful woman that evokes the same response in me as a beautiful man. However, there's a complex here...some people fall in live with features of the same sex because of what they themselves lack; and then interpret that as 'bisexual' or 'gay' meanwhile, its just an infatuation of being attracted to what you wish your own body possessed.
This 'infatuation' attraction was tested when I went to College, I was never OK with this feeling, couldn't come to terms with it just like Frank, and most 'bi' people are never OK with these feelings because it's too much of a struggle.

The absence of having good men in my life, and being abused, taken advantage of, failed relationships, caused me to want something different. So I pursued her.
I was in need of reciprocated love in the same capacity in which I gave so I searched for her. But not just any her. She walked across campus one day the most beautiful hair, with pink tinted lips, and eyes that told me that she wanted and needed love in the same capacity.

Eventually,I kissed her, I related to her, I tried hard to deny my feelings for her. But besides myself to me, she was the most beautiful woman in the world. She was the first and last girl that my heart ever told myself I was in 'love' with. We didn't spend a semester, months or a summer,. We spent time.

She went on to deny me eventually, but I kept chasing her...just like Frank.

In his open letter he describes him telling the guy how he felt and the guy didn't reveal the same until years later. I told her how I felt, she never revealed the same, I didn't tell her how deep because I rejected those feelings with a passion. I didn't have to 'come out' to anyone because I used the popular "fad" of female bisexuality to justify my action; but it was more than that.

I carried her in my spirit for a year after. And prayed to let her and these feelings go. I often wondered what in my child hood sparked this attraction? Was it hormonally driven? An obsession? Infatuation? What? I don't deny these feelings, I allow myself to have them so I can identify the why's.
What has helped me battle this struggle is that me knowing at the end of the day a woman is not what I want...forever. I don't want to marry a female, raise kids with a female, or build a family with a woman. For me, it's simply a physical and mental attraction to certain women and 1 who just happen to have me open.

I'm not against Gay's, lesbians, bi's etc. I applaud those who deal with the battle and make it through, whether they succumb or fight it...it takes a lot of courage and strength! I've had a lot of friends come out to me and most times I want to talk them out of it. Not because I'm against it, but because it can become a dangerous game. People get killed, disowned, and take their own lives when they deal with confusion about their sexuality. I know that everyone has to ultimately fight their own battle, it's like living stuck between two different worlds! You're fighting against your morals, values, what you have known to be right, how you were raised, the outside world, family, your identity, it is truly a spiritual war that takes a hold of your physical body and can kill you, or lead you to kill yourself.

There have been many people who have come out about there battle. Donnie Mcclurkin was one of them. His story was the first story that gave me insight and understanding into the battle of sexual identity; through child abuse and molestation and how it can leave you with a sexual identity crisis if you manifest the outcomes.

I felt the need to write this to bring awareness to LGBT issues and to give a different perspective, understanding and insight into bi-sexuality.

I want to Thank Frank for not being ashamed, for penning something so beautifully and poetically written, to not hiding, or being on the 'DL'...I'm not going to suggest that Frank is full on GAY, however I commend him for sharing his story of a beautiful experience against all odds.

Thank you, Frank Ocean

'Whoever you are. Where ever you are. I'm starting to think we're a lot alike. '

PS: I was wondering why I couldn't get your song out my head.=)

Mary Mary opened my eyes!

2012-06-29T11:13:00.004-07:00

Erica and Tina Campbell better know as gospel recording artists 'Mary Mary' debuted their own reality TV show March 29, 2012 on WE TV. The show gives an insight into the personal and professional lives of the stars. We get to see the women deal with every day life demands as mothers, wives, gospel artist and women of God.

I have to say watching this season of Mary Mary has definitely been life changing for me. It opened my eyes to the life of Godly women, Gospel artist, etc and how they are no different than us. Now many people may think "Well duh' they aren't any diff, however to see that on TV drives it home.
Most of us who attend church or have pastor, ministry advisors don't get to see their everyday lives or are let in on what they deal with. A lot of people in the church try to present themselves as the ultimate "Holy walk of faith not tempted by the evil special ticket to heaven" kind of people and that's just not real.
It was o beautiful to see Erica and Tina interact with each other, their husbands and children. It really showed that although they are Gospel artist that they have the same desires, wants, needs, shortcomings, battles in life that many of us who are on the walk or off the walk have.

Most expect a huge life change when they get closer to their creator and for some a huge life change is needed and then for others it's just a matter of making adjustments. God/Allah/Jah made you so they intended for you to be exactly who your are, personality, desires, passion, however they want want you to be who you are in them. That's they key to it all.

My hustles, my ambition, my personality has all been molded by my upbringing and so I can't change that and I wouldn't want to, but I can trust in my creator to enhance it. To take a lesson from my ancestors to enhance my path...it all goes hand in hand.

If you haven't checked out Mary Mary on We...check it out replays of the first season here

Happy Fathers Day

Tiffany Maiyon 'Tough Love New Orleans'

2012-06-10T14:22:00.001-07:00

Tiffany Tiffany Tiffany!

So a I was sitting here watching then last 5-10min of Tough Love NOLA I found out that Mrs. Tiffany
(yes MRS) is a married woman!

Rewiiiiind!!!!!!

But this is a show trying to help you find a man right?

Well on this episode she was exposed...so far since the beginning of this show she has lied about her age, how many kids she has (youngest 15 months), and being married. According to TV host Steve Ward her husband, bridesmaid and family do not know that she is on the show.

Also she has a website imagineyouconsulting.com where she refers to herself as a VH1 celebrity a well as a stylist and diva.

My guess is that she was using the show to get a jump start on her career and fame...is she wrong?

What do you think? Do you think she was really looking for love, trying to get away from her husband or using the show for fame? Think her fam where in on it?

Life changes over a year

2012-06-10T13:32:00.002-07:00

Wassup! There have been soooo many things on my mind that I have been wanting to blog about, but can never bring myself too it! As you know, this blog is not just about my interest, but about myself as well so a lot of the things that I share on this blog are very deep and personal to me.

Lately I haven't been blogging as such due to some personal health things that I have been dealing with, which I really want to bring some awareness to...eventually.

Well...since my last relationship post, over a year ago...I have since moved on from that relationship and am cohabitating with my current Man ٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ ← ← ← ←(insert ridiculous expression here).

Around thanksgiving of 2011 I had actually found out after weeks of not talking too that my <3 (link to prev relationship article) had been hospitalized for a brain aneurysm a couple days before. I found out by his "new" girlfriend.

It has been 8 months and he is still in the hospital. I hunted his brother down via FB and I keep in touch with him....my <3 lost his sight, memory, and ability to walk. Last update was that he had taken his first steps a few weeks ago. It really baffles me that a man who I have been on and off with for 8 years can possibly look me in the face and not remember me at all. I still have yet to see him...not sure if I can actually.

So that's what I have been dealing with over this last year as well as my new relationship웃ღ웃, living together, transferring schools, taking a semester off, etc.

So that's the changes that have been up with me..what about you?

Website is being Revamped! Stay tuned!

Basketball (UN-Weds)

2012-05-16T09:33:00.000-07:00

I cannot stand these woman! Basketball ~~Wives~~ Hoes, no actually let me take that back I am all for #teamJen, but I'll get into that later. I can honestly do without the rest of these woman and damn sure wouldn't miss the show if they removed it from Tv. Based on the most recent episode where @TamiRoman decided to take Kesha(whatever her name is) her purse and talk cray to the woman. I just can't believe they let these unstable creatures remain on Television! I don't blame none of those woman for calling the police or pressing charges on Tami, Evelyn or who else, I especially think that Shaunnie needs to be sued as well. First and foremost this is her show and she is the ringleader of this zoo of unstable creatures and she needs to be held accountable for ALL of their actions!

When Basketball wives first premiered or when they were advertising the show I thought that it was about actual....wait for it...wait for it....wait for it...WIVES! I thought it was about the women behind the men and how they deal with their relationships, the POSITIVE things they do, their entrepreneurial endeavors, and raising children. I thought the show would paint B Ball wives in a good light and show the woman's hustle, somewhat like Love and Hip Hop or Lala's show. But damn I couldn't have been more wrong!

I would even think that after @TamiRoman had a heart attack that she would calm the RATCHETNESS down, but no Ghetto-ness prevails. Clearly these women are unstabble, and I would hate to see how they act without the money. Somebody call Social Services and get these women off the air!

My Advice for the Day!

2012-01-14T12:40:00.000-08:00

Guys...if you have a GOOD woman...NEVER put yourself in a position w/ a BAD one to ruin what you have! You're with the woman you're with for a reason, leave the PAST in the PAST and move forward w/ your lady. Whoever didn't have you or keep you when they did have you does NOT deserve you, regardless of how SEXY they are, how good the SEX, was or how they made you feel! Don't risk messing up a GOOD thing for a moment of gratification or attention! #LoveYourGOODwomanRight
::sn:: A good woman is HARD to find, and once she's GONE, shes GONE! Instead of working on TRYING to get her BACK, work on what you GOT! It's harder to get her back once you lose her, than to KEEP her once you've got her!

Sincerely,

RFC
