Avatar,James Cameron and Web Design

Avatar is a 3D science fiction film by James Cameron. It is believed to forever change the way we watch movies. James Cameron has left no stone unturned in making this movie and he has shown us what true dedication is all about. Although unintentionally, he has also left a message for web designers. But, are we listening?<div class="feedflare">

Throughout history, some of the greatest creative minds have amazed us by their remarkable works in the fields of science, art, literature and music. But, what exactly is creativity? Why are some individuals highly creative? What is a creative thought process?<div class="feedflare">

Randomness

Human kind has always been fascinated with the randomness existing around us. In fact, many of our scientific fields like information theory, probability and quantum mechanics deal with randomness. Several standard interpretations of quantum mechanics state that microscopic phenomena are objectively random. Now, what if god had to create the universe with all this randomness utilizing a pseudo programming language? What would be this programming language like? And how will it deal with all this randomness?<div class="feedflare">

CSS - How I Did It - Part 2

Web designers spend a lot of time in designing stunning graphics for their websites. However, it is also necessary that web graphics should blend perfectly with web typography so as to enhance website beauty and readability. I have dedicated an entire stylesheet to deal with typography on my blog. In this post, I will show you how I made that stylesheet and some issues related to it.<div class="feedflare">

Even the best designed graphics would look ugly on a website if it has been styled with poor CSS. Even though CSS is easier to learn, it can still give you headaches due to browser compatibility issues. In this post, I will show you the CSS techniques which I have used for styling this blog, the problems I faced and their solutions and some best practices.<div class="feedflare">

Help Me Out

This post is dedicated to all my fellow windows users. There is a very fat chance that at some point or the other, we all have called our geek friends or looked into various windows help forums to either find a solution for a weird windows error or to just find a way of getting things done on windows. In this post, I will show how to get past a tricky active desktop recovery error, making a simple folder lock and how to partition a disk on Windows XP.<div class="feedflare">

The Mighty Pen

Ask me one thing which I love to do besides coding and I would say Drawing. It is really a creative way to express yourself. I had quite a fun time in drawing the graphics for this blog. However, my blog looked completely different a few weeks ago until I decided to give a try to the pen tool. And you can see the result!! In this post, I will demonstrate how useful the pen tool could be!!<div class="feedflare">

A lot of people ask about the right tools for web designing and development. This may vary from person to person depending upon the project requirements and his working style. I have compiled various packages containing tools for Windows and Mac users. These packages also include links to various websites where you can learn more about these tools and some best practices for web Designing and Development.<div class="feedflare">

Validate It

Every web designer is supposed to check their HTML/XHTML documents for validation using the W3C Markup Validation service. It is certainly a helpful service to check the documents for mark up errors. But, is it always necessary to have a perfectly validated document? What about those websites which fail these validation criteria? In this post, we will be answering these questions by examining the validation results of some popular websites.<div class="feedflare">

What a Geek

Hello All! So, What a Geek has finally seen the light after spending a lot of time under the shadows of local(g)host(There is a reason for calling it localghost, which I will surely explain in my upcoming posts). I must accept that it took me more time than I expected to launch what a geek. There are basically three reasons for this delayed launch.

1. I wanted to develop my own blog engine rather than using a wordpress or a joomla template. Therefore, developing a blog engine took more time against arranging HTML and CSS in a template with a well defined functionality.

2. I have been more involved with Microsoft technologies since my college days. So, a few weeks back it was all about ASP.NET and C# until I decided to take a plunge into the opensource world of PHP and MySQL.

3.Unfortunately, I am not evolved yet to eat microprocessors and chips. Hence, I have to spend a lot of time in earning my bread.

So, enough of Me, Myself and I.Without further ado, let me tell you what this blog is all about. As the name reflects, this is primarily a technical blog. Majority of my posts would be on programming and web designing & development. This would include tutorials, tips and tricks and best practices. However, this is NOT just a technical blog. I would be also writing about various other topics like art, music theory, astronomy, gaming and vfx.

I have decided to keep my blog posts as simple as possible. This means that there would be no fancy English and no unexplained technical jargon. Moreover, I will include a lot of images and screenshots (wherever possible) in my posts so that reading becomes more enjoyable.

Now, no blog can be successful without active participation from its readers. Subscribe to this blog if you think it has all the stuff you need or you like. Retweet your favorite posts and leave comments so that we can have a healthy discussion on it. You are always welcome to give me any suggestions regarding the blog through my email. I would be soon introducing many interactive features on this blog so that it always remains "Shiny" for its readers.<div class="feedflare">
